Cool bar. Quick Bloody Mary stop on a football Sunday. One bartender running everything, props.

Old retro bar...beautifully dark and comfortable....delicious selection of beer on tap, food and in fantastic funky part of Pittsburgh. Wish we had a duplicate in Altadena/Pasadena. Glad I came here for this weekend adventure to see the LA Dodgers play the Pirates.

The BeerHive in Pittsburgh's Strip District has been a Yinzer staple for years. All of the food I have ordered has been good and local. On Tuesdays, they run a $4.12 smash burgher special that is absolutely delicious. The hummus appetizer was really refreshing for a hot day. The beers and drinks are flowing. I love that the draft list changes often. The service is friendly too. They have an upstairs area that you can rent for parties and events which in my opinion is always an added bonus. Come here for the pickles and enjoy the Yinzer vibes!!

Decent little dive bar tucked into the heart of The Strip District. Great place for locals and tourists as well. They had a decent draft list when I was there. The woman working the bar was really friendly. I was surprised to see the bar area pretty full on a Monday at 3pm. I had already eaten lunch and quite honestly I didn't realize they served food until I was sitting at the bar. All the folks around me were eating and the food looked very good. I did hear folks tell the bartender how good their sandwich was. I felt the beer prices were quite good too. Will definitely visit again when I'm down in the Strip.

BeerHive is such a hidden gem in the strip district! They have rotating beer selections and always tend to have something new to try when visiting! Although the beer is nice, the tanqueray pickletini is a must try!!! Ambience and staff are always great, will certainly return for some bar bites and a great time!

The BeerHive needed to fix their a/c on a hot day last weekend, otherwise, it was a nice stop to catch up with friends and chill indoors away from the scorcher day outside. At first, two of us sat at the bar, where we had better service. I don't know if they were doing table service, as after we switched to a table when more friends joined us, we had to go to the bar each time we wanted more drinks despite asking if it was okay to switch before we did. It seemed like other tables were getting service directly. The BeerHive has a nice beer list. I ordered a key lime sour, which was lovely. The second beer I wanted they were out of but they provided a suitable alternative. This bar reminded me a lot of the layout of Jose Pistola's in Philly. Laid back atmosphere, bar-focused, decent food. I'd return if it in the Strip District in the future.

I met up with friends and have not here been in years. I tried the arsenal cider on tap which was really good. I got the happy hour special of wings with a dry rub which was excellent. All of us got the smash burger which was the daily special and that was ok. Service from the bartender was good. The ambiance is like what I remembered in the past.

Located in the heart of the strip district the beer hive is a perfect location to stop in and grab a bite to eat and enjoy a brew. We arrived fairly late in the evening on a Wednesday night. And grabbed an order of chicken wings and fries. Chicken wings are cooked perfectly. We opted for the barbecue dry rub and it was good. It's a little sweet and spicy so it has really really good balance. Fries are really delicious. They are your classic fries that you would expect to find around the burgh.

A staple of The Strip District.  The Beerhive is a neighborhood bar and grill that has tons of beer options, both canned and rotating taps.  They have a full bar as well and feature specialty cocktails from time to time.   They have burgers, wings, tacos and more, all made from scratch in-house while using tons of local ingredients.  Their meatballs, burgers and wing sauces are all made on site. I tried the fried pickles which are hand breaded Pittsburgh Pickle Company pickles served with spicy ranch. Their smash burger is amazing, the burger is sourced entirely within walking distance of their front door! The bun is from Mancini's, the meat is from Strip District Meats, the cheese is from Penn Mac, the onions are from Local Provisions, the pickles are Pittsburgh Pickle Company & the Hive sauce is made in house! It's a local Pittsburgh business sandwich spectacular!!! Of course had to get it with their delicious fresh cut fries!

Loved the BeerHive! It looks like a cool dive bar inside with an upstairs area in addition to the downstairs. We sat at the bar and got a few martinis which were delicious and very well priced. We also got some appetizers and those were yummy as well. The bartender was a little slow with tending to us (it seemed like she wanted to talk to regulars more) but we weren't in a rush!

Where is the bartender?! Your guess is as good as mine

Good bar food. Nothing special, but low prices and decent food are all you really need for lunch in the Strip.

LOVED our dinner at this place…read more We came here for dinner while visiting Pittsburgh. The first thing that struck me was the interior decor. Very industrial and moody with an open kitchen/preparation area that adds some intrigue. I do like to see the happenings of what's going on as someone with zero attention span. Service was excellent. George was fantastic. He kept a close eye on us without being overbearing. He anticipated what we might need so we didn't spend one second waiting to order anything. The menu is not endless or overwhelming which, presumably, allows them to focus on the items that are listed. I have decision panic so it was kinda nice to have less things to choose from. They asked if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions so I mentioned my vegetarianism. George went through the menu and pointed out the vegetarian options including what seems like it is vegetarian but isn't. They had TWO vegetarian entree options and fortunately the non-mushroom one was something I probably would have ordered anyway: pesto with walnuts, arugula, and a very generous amount of grated cheese. To start, I ordered the Brussels sprouts whichc I was warned had fish sauce. This was fine but nothing that blew me away. GF, on the other hand, loved this. GF ordered the wedge which was brought to our attention as vegetarian with the bacon on the side, which was her request. We ended up sharing both, a large part of that was because hers came out first and I couldn't wait but I'm so glad because the wege was FANTASTIC. The dressing? holy fuck pure ecastasy. The wedge was more like a filet shape which was much easier to eat. Who decided on the wedge shape anyway? The lettuce was so fresh and crisp and went wonderfully with that orgasmic dressing and breadcrumbs. Back to my pasta. Also delectable. Noodles were al dente. The sauce was creamy and packed that pesto umami flavor. The walnuts were a really nice contrast in texture. Everything about it absolutely fucking slapped. GF ordered the mushroom entree which came served on a bed of barley which, don't mind if I do, had a few forkfuls to "sample" for "my review". Again, so fucking good. Because it was my birthday, George provided a dessert (yuzu maybe?) that was served inside a meringue-esque igloo, creamy perfect balance of sweet and tart custard with some berry business underneath. Wonderful. I almost forgot their spectacular cocktails! Holy shit, literally they have a CORN CHIP cocktail that I could not pass up. It comes with two massive cornchips on top of a flavored foam. When you bring the glass up to sip, the cornchips are right in front of your nose and their aroma sets the stage for the drink which was STRONG. It wasn't as corn chip forward as I expected but I understand that flavor is probaly hard to create. For my second drink, I ordered the blue one which was refreshing, light, and really good. GF ordered a spritz which was gorgeous "it was good". For second round, I picked out some uranium thing that was very cucumbery, GF says, "it was good". I just read it outloud to her. "it's true!" Fantastic meal at a great place.

We celebrated our 10yr anniversary here for dinner & it was definitely worth it. Unblemished ambiance & service. We were at the restaurant side- very chic & intimate. They have a casual tavern area along the bar on the other side. And an upstairs section. When you look up, there's an entire wall of huge wine selection. For cocktails we had the Cosmopolitan & Strawberry Smash-- both prepared great! Cosmos are usually a hit/miss situation for me; this was really good though- not too tart nor sweet-- very well balanced w/ a mild hint of vodka coming through, which after a few sips hits you in a nice, soft way. Husb said the Strawberry Smash was bangin!!-- the sibona amaro in it stabilized the fruitiness of the drink. For apps, we ordered the Calamari- it was soooo good & crispy/crunchy, I had to prevent myself from stuffing everything in my mouth! I was a bit sad I had to share this w/ my husb lol. It came with a hot & sour sauce w/ lemon which overall made the dish unique. For entree, I had the Scottish Salmon, came w/ scallops & I added crab cake to it. Succulent salmon was seared w/ great flavor, the sweet corn & pepper mixed in a tomato vinaigrette on the side under the scallops was just unbelievable. The crab cake was cut squared, hands down one of the best cakes. The flavor profile for the entire dish together in a bite was incomparable!! Definitely order this. Husb ordered the Gerber Farms Chicken, amish chicken served w/ risotto, greens on top of thyme jus (akin to a thin gravy). The chicken was cooked well-- juicy on the inside & a nice roast on the outside; the risotto wasnt heavy & didn't weigh the meal down, the thyme jus's flavor was subtle & it elevated the entire dish. For dessert, we got the Chocolate Hazelnut tart & Eleven Candy bar. I legit relished & inhaled the tart despite already being so full. Husb loved the Candy bar. A huge slice of brownie/caramel candy bar w/ chocolate mousse phew! The pics explain how mindblowin' everything was! A real one-of-a kind experience. Ron was great in explaining everything too. Taxes they add to the bill: sales, alcohol & Allegheny tax which raises the end charge. A toast to the chefs & Mixologists here.

My experiences have not been high-end, perhaps more "tinfoil" than sapphire, to say the least....see below. That being said, it's proven to be a very middling experience each time, especially from a service standpoint. Each time has had mysterious delayed times to get waited upon, receive food and drinks, and every time has featured a mysterious disappearing item that we had to politely "remind" the server about after receiving the bill. On this occasion, we were offered to still receive a missing drink even though it was incredibly clear that we were ready to leave. One time, sure, but all three visits have had issues. This time, when the final bill was corrected, the math didn't seem to make sense - removing a $14 drink and the total came out $5 less. I'm being candid in saying instead of even dealing with the server once more, their tip corrected the discrepancy - no issues in dealing with the situation in that manner, given the sub-par service. Unacceptable and frustrating to have 3/3 times experiencing significant service issues. Food-wise, it's a solid "4" rating - salads have all been great, the dishes we'd recommend are the black cod and the short ribs. Good selection of semi-local beer and extensive wine list. It was noted that the menu had "changed" with the season, but the overall menu was 80% the same with some very subtle modifications - all over a two-year period. First time we went here, we sat at the tables above the bar area, and unfortunately there was a very bar-like smell that could be experienced throughout the meal (imagine having fine dining at the Rock Room on Polish Hill) - thankfully these other two times have been in the main dining area, on nights that haven't been very busy (adding to the frustration regarding the service notes above). Honestly, this is a legacy restaurant here in Pittsburgh, it's a shame that newer places with great food + service have a hard time launching in this environment.

It serves wood-fired cuisine that uses locally raised meats, house-made pasta, and seasonal vegetables. Currently, during the winter, examples of menu items are small plates (e.g., roasted beet salad and heirloom carrots), mid courses (e.g., linguine and blue-bay mussels), large plates (e.g., sesame soy-glazed eggplant, pork chop, and picanha), desserts (e.g., pistachio cake and Kahlua fudge brownie), and alcoholic beverages (e.g., cocktails, mocktails, wines, and beers). For my husband and me, I made a reservation for dinner through the Resy website. I chose from options of the dining room, a four-season patio with awnings and heaters, and a chef's counter with a view of the kitchen. Please note that although the foods are upscale, the dress code seems to be smart casual. We parked our vehicle in a lot a short walk away. Upon our arrival to the restaurant, a seating hostess promptly greeted and seated us. Our server provided courteous and attentive service, such as taking our order and bringing our foods on time, refilling our waters, and cleaning my crumbs. We started with a Crab Cake with decent amount of crab meat, mushroom duxelles, tasty truffle aioli, and a side of arugula salad. My main course was Branzino with sides of beans-vegetables and parmesan cornbread. My husband's main course was Duck Breast with a blood-orange demi-glace, asparagus, and potatoes.
