Good music. Not-so-good service. I did not eat but my entire crowd of hungry bikers liked the barbeque. We were there on a Friday night and the live band (2-piece blues) was pretty enjoyable. Personally, I find it hard to trust a barbecue joint that tries to serve all sorts of barbecues rather than just being good at one kind. Not that you can't be good at Memphis and NC and TX, but it's not all that easy to master even one type. But everyone liked the food. My beer was cold and the band was good, so overall the group was happy but the server we had was either new or having an off night. So our wait for the bill was over 30 mins and then another 15 mins while he sorted the change. This left a bad impression. I think we got unlucky. read more

We have been in for Moab 5 days and have tried 4 diff places for dinner and the winner is the Blue Pig. We went back for the second time and the service, the food and atmosphere are the best. Defiantly will come back again. The Blue Pug has earned another 5 stars. read more

Melina was our server. She recommended the combo platters for 3 of us and my daughter had a cheeseburger. The food was great. She had a perfect knowledge of the sauces which are all great but the mustard based was my personal favorite. She recommended the sweet potato fries which were really good as well. Food was fast, service was on point and excellent which is hard to find in Moab. I come to the Blu Pig when I am in town and have yet to have an experience less than perfect. This place was supposed to be our "big night out" while on vacation in Moab. Upon entering the place it was nearly empty which should have been somewhat of a sign to us. We opted to sit in the separate bar room area and grabbed a couple of stools at the very modern sports bar. After sitting at the bar for about 5 minutes the bartender came by with a couple menus and said she would be right back to get our drink order. About 3 minutes later she arrived and took our order for drinks and our appetizer. We decided to order the smoked wings as an appetizer (smaller order is 12 wings which is a little much for 2 people). About 5-7 minutes later she finally arrived back to take our main course order - we ordered the three meat plate to share (smoked turkey, chicken, and tri-tip) with sides of baked potato and baked sweet potato. The wings arrived about 10 minutes after initially ordering them. The guy from the kitchen that delivered them was very friendly and upbeat - the bartender could use some training from him in this department. The wings were simply amazing. My BF is somewhat of a wing connoisseur and even he agreed that the wings were very good. Since they are smoked they are also much healthier than typical fried wings. Shortly after the wings had arrived, our main dish arrived leaving us only 1/2 through our wings with our entire plate of food in front of us. We decided to just incorporate the wings into the main dish in order to keep the main course from getting cold. Once again, the same guy from the kitchen delivered our food and was upbeat, attentive and friendly. He dispersed 6 different sauces to us and explained what each was consisted of. He was really a great guy that obviously enjoyed his job and worked very hard. On to the main course: the three meat plate consisted of the smoked turkey which had good flavor but was slightly overcooked to the point that it was dry. A couple of dunks into the house specialty cranberry bbq sauce alleviated the dryness. The smoked chicken was very similar to the turkey - very good flavor, but overcooked. Finally, we had the Tri-tip which I was really looking forward to. To my dismay the tri-tip was very bland and completely lacking of flavor - not to mention it was below room temperature. Finally, I had a loaded baked potato and my BF had a baked sweet potato. My loaded BP was cold and completely overloaded with toppings to the point that I hardly knew there was a potato in there. My BF said the baked sweet potato was very good and came with a sweet brown sugar butter. I didn't care for my baked potato while the BF loved his baked sweet potato. Upon finishing our food, it took about 10 mins for the bartender to ever come by us - keep in mind she had only 1 other customer who was drinking draft beer and not eating. She seemed much more concerned about conversing with this guy and texting on her phone that she did about us. The wings would rate as 5 star, the main dish would rate as 3 star and the service rates as a 2 star - only because of the nice guy from the kitchen, it would be a 1 star if based on the bartender alone. This place has potential to be VERY good as evident by the amazing chicken wings. The service certainly needs improving and the timing of the food being delivered also needs improvement. I would probably give this place one more chance in the future to prove itself because I really want to like it. read more

This food is amazing and is a great end to a good week here in Moab. We came for my son's birthday and he loved the ribs. Staff was great and helpful. I loved my combo platter. Turkey was moist, pulled pork was tasty and brisket was way better than I expected (sort of a brisket snob). The bark was nice the brisket itself had just a little snap to it when pulling and smoke ring was beautiful. Most of all you MUST try the gumbo only thing missing was my side of rice but overall it was flavorful not over powered by spice and certainly delicious! First, if you are familiar with BBQ this isn't the place for you, it was recommended by our hotel staff. After visiting Arches National Park we stopped in at The Blue Pig. It was a 20 minute wait, although there were empty seats. We were greeted by our server almost immediately to take our drink order. I ordered soda husband ordered a Hefeweizen. Server was very nice. She brought back our drinks to take our food order promptly. I ordered the brisket and smoked turkey with garden salad and baked potato. Husband ordered tri-tip and brisket with beans and coleslaw. Both dinners came with cornbread. When the beer was served, it wasn't served with a glass and if your not familiar with sediment beer, you have to pour it in a glass. Hefeweizen it's supposed to be served with lemon too. But we'll give you that if you don't know any better. The dinners came to the table pretty quick. I'll say my salad and potato were good. But both my meats were lukewarm and very dry. You could have probably saved it with a sauce but the dispensers were not clean so I opted not to use them. Husbands meat also came lukewarm and dry. It appears that they must cut the meat earlier in the day and the meat is rewarmed and dries out. The flavor profile of the meat wasn't anything special either. Cornbread was not warm and did not come with butter or jam. Most places you are given this option. Husbands cornbread was so dry it fell apart when he tried to take the wrapper off. Inedible. Husband ate his dinner, I ate my salad and potato but only had a few bites of both my meats but decided not eating it was better than trying to. Server did come back to the table to check but by this time damage was done and we were ready to leave. OK there are small things that could be done to make this a really great place to eat. I ordered the bbq baby back ribs and they were fall off the bone tender. That is the good news. The bad news is someone slathered some bbq sauce on at the last min. It did not have a chance to be cooked by the smoke nor had it seen a flame which would have caramelized the sauce. We'd received coupons from the holiday Inn and found out they get some kind of credit for giving them out. We both got some pulled pork and had different barbeque sauces to put on it. I'm not much of a meat eater so I falsely assumed the pulled pork would be on a sandwich .. it wasn't but my hubby said he wasn't expecting a sandwich. I think it also came with a good loaf of bread ... by the time I ate all that didn't have room for the pork anyway. So I basically had the bread soup and okra and was So bottomline is it was ok and price was ok. Not the best meal of the trip but ok. Our experience was a solid meh. Wanting to take my wife out for an early birthday lunch, we got there at 11:30, just as they opened. As we were one of the first customers of the day, everything went quickly including receiving our food. Our server did the usual server things but it was obvious that her heart wasn't into it. The food was Luke warm, the meat look warmed over and even the pickled was wilted. My wife ordered the brisket plate and I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. It was quite obvious that the meat wasn't prepared recently. It was bland and had almost no smoke. It was sadly lacking in any bbq magic, almost like it was prepackaged food service items from Cysco. The saving grace was the sauce on the table which helped the few bites we took go down. The rest came home for the dogs. The prices and quality are those are of a typical tourist trap, super expensive (a soda is $3.75) turn and burn cash making machine. Obviously very little heart or love for the bbq process. The saving grace of our experience is that we didn't have to wait long to be disappointed. We're 0/2 in dining out for my wife's Moab birthday. read more

Exterior: seems a bit old style on the outside. Really close to moab inn and la quinta inn. Interior: decent size. Light setting are a bit darker in here. Old style decor but still clean inside. Food: not really the best. The burnt end was a "bbq delicacy" so I decided to try it. By glance, it looked unappetizing. Just a plate of black meat with onion rings next to it. Taste wise, it was a hit or miss. Some of the meat I chewed on was good. I felt thick and hard when I poke my fork into it but once I bit into it, it was soft and delicious. Only 2-3 pieces I ate were like that. The rest were hard on the outside and rough on the inside. For the price, I wasn't too satisfy with it. The blue pig burger wasn't too special. It was like any other burger to me with tomato, lettuce, 2 patty, pickles. BBQ salad was decent but lettuce was not washed well. Kept tasting something sandy. Service: the best out of everything. Server was super nice and attentive. Really friendly and was always there to refill water and ask how our meal was. Overall, the food was so so but it was in a big portion. Working late, I was looking for food and most restaurants close early or don't open in the winter in Moab. I stopped in not expecting too much, but was happily surprised by a great 3 piece blue grass band and perfectly smoked ribs with a very fresh salad. Like most establishments, this one is all about the art of the order. If you order the right items, you will have a very satisfying meal. If you don't...well, you get the drill. Hubby ordered a 1/2 slab of St Louis style ribs, roast turkey, fries, and side salad with bleu cheese dressing. Meats were very good and the fries weren't bad. The salad dressing was very good, but the lettuce leaves were somewhat old (brown around the edges). I ordered the pulled pork, andouille sausage, roasted sweet potato, and fried okra. The pulled pork was excellent, tasty and juicy. The sausage was not appealing, with a strange after taste. The sweet potato was also excellent, and they offer melted marshallows on top if you like. That is not my preference, so I chose just butter, which comes with a sprinkling of cinnamon so make sure you ask them to leave the cinnamon off if you want only butter. The fried okra was a disapointment, since it was simply store bought stuff and not made in house. They offer four BBQ sauces, and they are all available at your table. All of them have a slightly sweet start, but we found that our favorite was the Carolina Mustard. The tang of the mustard cut the sweetness to a "just right" level. Prices were average for BBQ, $47.00 for two people included tip, but we didn't order any alcohol. Service was slightly slow. We had to wave down our server to get refills on the iced tea and water, which was silly since the place was not busy at the time we were there. read more

I was staying at the La Quinta Inn across the parking lot, so I decided to wander in here before retiring to bed. I decided to go with the tried-and-true: the pulled pork sandwich. For a side, I went with fried okra, whose inclusion on the menu was a pleasant surprise. The pulled pork? Average. It wasn't too greasy, but it didn't blow me away. The fried okra was pretty good, although they did not serve it with anything to dip it in. Usually I like to dip my fried okra in remoulade, or at the very least, as spicy ranch sauce. As a dining establishment, it was passable, but they seemed to cut some corners with their food. The blues music they piped through the building may have been the best part. read more

Good cocktails... But the entrees fall short. My husband and I both got an old fashioned and it was made perfectly. I got the tri tip sandwich and it was smokey but dry... Super dry. Well done. I do not recommend. My husband got the two meat plate with tri tip and sausage. He only liked the sausage. Great service overall, but average food for the price. I'm no BBQ expert and I've read some of the bad reviews. We tried Frankie D's and it was pretty awful. We tried The Blu Pig the next day and it was like a revelation. I got the catfish po boy which was decent, but it was the red beans and rice that left me singing. So porky and rich with down home delight, I wanted to order a to go bucket and a giant spoon. The sauces were pretty fantastic too. I'll be back to try more of the menu and the black imperial ipa that I saw on the menu and didn't get a chance to try. I know better than to drink a beer that strong before a 10-mile hike in the blazing sun. Oh, and for some reason every bar/restaurant we went in Moab was playing some kind of bad 80s music. The blues at BP was good and didn't make me want to fill my ear holes with sugar packets. read more

This was the first BBQ joint I spotted in UT after hours of driving over 2 days from Houston, TX. I had to try it. I knew going in and seeing the onion rings and fries that this wasn't a typical TX BBQ joint. Seeing the tri-tip on the menu instead of brisket was another giveaway. I had a car load of people waiting for me so I ordered tri-tip and turkey to go. It seemed like it took a while for the meat to get sliced and boxed. There weren't many people in the restaurant when we visited. Tri-tip - was moist and served in an au-jus type sauce. it was a little chewy, no real smoke flavor or ring, more like roast beef. Tri-tip is a cut I need to get more familiar with but it was not what we were expecting, my 13 year old who is also a BBQ fan didn't care for it at all. Turkey - while it had a smoke flavor it was on the dry and chewy side. It was a good quality bird and not one of those composite turkey breasts but it could have been moister. A half pound of each meat coming out to over $21 was a bit steep also. This is more of a bar atmosphere, a great place to hang with friends after a day on the trails. If you are looking for more serious BBQ I would look elsewhere. read more

I must say this BBQ was one of the most delicious ones for me. I got the baby back rubs which were fall off the bone tender, meaty and tasty. They have 3 BBQ sauces on the side you can drizzle which ranges from sweet to vinegar-sweet to vinegar spicy. My son got the Brisket burnt ends and enjoyed them thoroughly. The staff are super efficient and friendly. The table behind us were speaking French and our sever Angelique (super nice) started conversing with them in French. I really enjoyed our meal. My sister and I came here after a long hike in Arches. We couldn't have been happier with the pulled pork sandwich and combo with brisket, Cajun sausage and tri-tip. My sister, girlfriend and I came here after a hot day of hiking, feeling like we just wanted some BBQ. We came to the Blu Pig because the other BBQ place in town was closing soon. The poor review is more about our server rather than the food. The food okay, nothing overly special about it. The pulled pork was dry, the baby back ribs and burnt tips was good. Our server that night was Arielle from New Jersey, not that she told us that. She was professional and polite enough, but as we sat there eating, we overheard her having small talk with other tables, such as what they did that day, or where were they visiting from, but she didn't ask us anything. We don't necessarily need to be asked these things, but we do expect equal treatment. Arielle, keep up your friendly personality, but I do hope you treat all of your customers more equally in the future. read more
