I wish I lived in this neighborhood so I could make this my neighborhood spot. Their menu is chock full of really mouth watering items. Literally everything I ordered I consumed in my car before even making it home. Okay well it was filling so I save most of the brussels sprouts for another day and skipped the table bread, but it was ah-mahzing. This neighborhood has several good restaurants back to back so parking can be a challenge - luckily it's a quick takeout process so lots of people are in and out of the spaces quickly. Love this place! Brussels sprouts, burrata, and beet salad are so good! Our entrees were solid too. A great place to meet with friends and hear ourselves talk. Might not choose this place for a celebration again because they fall down on the N/A options. Most good restaurants now have a Mocktail menu. read more

Starters: every appetizer we had was fantastic. The beet salad was well dressed and the earthy flavor was balanced out with a bit of sweet. Even though it was a bit too sweet for my taste the Brussels sprouts were a favorite at the table, so instead I went all in on the roasted cauliflower which was tasty but could have used a bit of char on the roast. Meals: I got the trout and it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Cannot recommend this enough as I would go back for it again and again. The kitchen was kind enough to sub out the rice for broccolini and so It can't get any better than that for me. I had a taste of my friends risotto and it was fantastic with the exception of the mama lils peppers. I love those peppers but they cut though and overpowered the subtler mushroom flavors in the dish. I did manage to wrangle a bite with minimal pepper influence and it was stellar. My husband enjoyed the prawn pappardelle, which was his second choice as the fish tacos were sold out (and they looked incredible), but said it was a little bit watery for his personal liking but the flavors were all solid. Overall a fantastic experience. Service was top notch, clearly labeled gluten free/celiac options, portions are larger than I would have expected and the food was well prepared and flavorful. Went to dinner here with my wife and some close friends. Not only is it a cute and fun place the service and food we're both good. The. Waitress managed to make sure we were always ok, while still allowing us to have a chance to catch up with our friends. I would whole heartedly recommend the cauliflower or the Brussels sprouts. This place was incredible. The smoked tuna toasts were so delicious (I wish every time I made a tuna sandwich it tasted as good as that smoked tuna) with a sweet pepper as a perfect touch on top. The roasted cauliflower was good and flavorful, though admittedly my least favorite item we tried. The pan seared tuna (daily market fish) was expensive at $32 but wow it was flavorful. The sauce on top was tangy, refreshing, and I just couldn't get enough, and the fish had a beautiful crisp to it. The dungeoness crab spaghetti with a lemon butter wine sauce -- wow. Decadent, rich, and delicious with a piece of roasted bread dipped into it. I'm excited to go back and try more. The service could've been a bit faster, but the waiter was friendly and had a lot on his plate (hah) Update: They now do brunch too! Homemade sweet potato English muffins with their eggs Benedict. We stopped by after running some errands in the Ballard area after looking for a new place to eat. We were not disappointed! This little hole in the wall had great food and friendly service! We started with the Brussels which were a little more oily than I would have wanted, but we're still crispy and delicious. I had the mussels and linguine which hit the spot on the hot day! Typically places have way more pasta than mussels in this dish, but the roles were reversed here and there were a ton of mussels! My partner had the salmon and the menu says "a generous portion" and they weren't kidding! All the food was great and we will definitely return! read more

Genuinely puzzled why this place gets such high reviews. The food was barely pedestrian. I asked for dressing on the side for my entree salad because salads tend to get gloopy, and it arrived gloopy with so much dressing it was inedible.My husband's pasta lacked any spice. It was like Chef Boyardee. Our waitress was sweet but so inept she spilled water on us twice. I'm not a complainer, but given the $100 dinner bill, I think they need to step up their game. read more

We ate there the week before Christmas ... it was very busy, and both the wait-staff and the kitchen were overwhelmed - and service was very slow as a result - I assume that isn't normal. The southwest corn chowder was fabulous (a special, not on the regular menu). The Moroccan lamb was tasty and interesting, with golden raisins and a mix of flavors, and Israeli-style large grain cons-cous. The veggie burger was thick and tasty - we feared it might be simulated meat, but no, it was a proper veggie burger, and quite good. Their list of specialty cocktails is interesting - I had the anejo sour, which was good, if pricey. They also had a good selection of beers (the Seapine IPA on draft was my partner's pick). All-in-all, we liked The Blue Glass - located downhill of Phinney Ridge on 65th, it's a neighborhood joint with some spizazz. I live nearby and have passed by this spot so many times. Decided to give it a shot for brunch with friends. Maybe they are better know for drinks and dinner as brunch was average. The service was fantastic- our waiter constantly checked on us without being intrusive, was super efficient getting water glasses filled, coffee refills and getting the food out. The reasons for low rating on brunch- they do not have espresso. , only regular drip coffee or decaf drip. No fresh juices, but there is OJ. They have a sizeable breakfast menu. I got the tostadas, vegetarian and they were fine. The rest of the table got the seattle scramble with chorizo and were disappointed. One friend barely touched her food. It was bland and just unappetizing was how they described it. Not much was eaten there which was sad- but the ambience and space was lovely. I would come back and give them a shot at just drinks ( hh) or other food on the menu. They have lots of seating and a good space. The place did get filled up around lunchtime- so it could be that other items on the menu are way better. read more

We arrived Thursday about 5:15pm. Still time for Happy Hour! Peter was our Server and was extremely friendly & helpful. I had the Happy Hour Lunazul Blanco Margarita and it was perfect. My husband has to eat gluten free (GF). This is our 2nd visit and there are so many GF choices that we were actually able to share a 'real meal' that tasted delicious. Blue glass is great little neighborhood restaurant that has a laid back and friendly vibe. While the vibes are laid back, the food still manages to be on par (and even better than) some of Seattle's more buttoned up restaurants. I was actually surprised to see that there was not much of a crowd during prime brunch hours(11:30ish on a Sunday). Pros: Attentive & friendly service. Our waiter was incredibly accomodating and brewed a fresh pot of coffee for me after noticing the first cup was very weak. I didn't even have to ask! Great food that is reasonably priced. Both the kimchi and dungeness crab benedict really hit the spot and the eggs were poached to perfection. It was exactly what I wanted in a brunch. Great location. This strip of Seattle is usually not super crowded and it is easier to find parking within just a few blocks of any of the restaurants Cons: There were very few, but just enough to not warrant this place as five stars (I'd actually give it 4.5 if I could). The coffee was pretty meh even after getting a freshly brewed cup and the benedict was slightly cold. However, I like my hollandaise piping hot so that may be more a personal preference! I would definitely recommend checking this spot out for brunch and I look forward to coming back to try out their dinner/cocktail menu. read more

My hubby & I had the pleasure of getting to know one our new neighborhood restaurants, The Blue Glass. From the start, I was drawn into their cozy vibe by beautiful artwork, beyond friendly staff and we hadn't even eaten yet! We had the Special, a papparadelle al ragu situation, which was insane. But the out-of-this-world short ribs & parmesan-laced polenta walks in and just blew off the roof. Incredible. So glad this spot is a 5 minute walk away. We will surely do a lot more pilates and cardio because of it. read more

Enjoyed a delightful Ahi Sandwich at The Blueglass a few evenings ago. The sesame crusted Ahi was seared perfectly and was delicious to the last bite! My friend just wanted a Manhattan, and some fries, lol. Her Manhattan was great, and the fries were crispy and served with a yummy aioli. Plus, the ambiance is chill with lots of engaging geegaws to look at on the walls--strung lights, local artists' work, and even classic movies on two high-def televisions that play silently overhead. My beet salad was enhanced with a tender chicken breast through a special order. I love that when the chef doesn't mind accommodating customers. We're headed back tonight for another meal...blew off a more touristy place in Pike Place after stopping by yesterday and seeing the crowds. Oh yeah, there's free street parking near the Blue Glass! The cocktails are great and at a price pint most point most people should try and entertain. This place has great food! I came here on a Friday night with my family around 7:30 and there was no wait to be seated. I had the fried chicken sandwich, which was amazing. The chicken was wonderfully tender inside, and crispy on the outside, and the fries were nice and crispy as well. We also had the tostones, which were a little underwhelming. Other plates at the table included the risotto, which was delicious, cheesy, and creamy, and the veggie burger, which had a great flavor. I would definitely recommend this place for the food, although you could probably skip the tostones. One thing though, it's extremely noisy. We basically had to shout across the table to be heard, so that's one drawback. Great food, loud atmosphere. read more

Horrible service with terrible attitude. I haven't had bad service in a long time but thanks to this place, I now know where the worst service in Seattle is. Expensive for no reason whatsoever. Dish of the day was $42. We only ordered appetizers because the server thought it was okay to keep pressing us to order dinner when we hadn't received our appetizers yet and while we were enjoying a bottle of wine. Everything inside reminds you that it should be a cheap tavern from chairs to tables to decor. Regardless of every negative bit about this place, their service is absolutely above and beyond horrible. I went to Blue Glass for the Rockfish... the menu had turned over. Had the mussels, roasted cauliflower and Romesco, and fried sage and Brussel sprouts. Husband had the ribeye that came with some creamy sauce, crushed roasted potatoes, and cubes of butternut squash. The flavors were all great, but it is all RICH. Even the mussel broth. I could get through everything but the Brussels. I did inform the server why the plate was left full. Mouth-coating, throat-coating. It's not all just oil - the dressing/vinaigrette was VERY good flavor wise. There just needs to be some fat editing. If they want repeat visitors, it can't always be a celebration-level indulgence. read more

Had a wonderful time catching up with a friend and enjoying the Ballard gem. Don't sleep on 65th street, it's not in the "downtown" part but it's got some incredible little shops, including The Blue Glass. We were seated on the small patio they have then the windows are open which provided excellent people watching all while sipping freshly brewed coffee and catching up. We were there pretty early on a Sunday so it was relatively quiet, but perfect time to enjoy the morning sun before it got too hot. Our fantastic server was attentive without being pushy, super personable (nail polish twins with my bestie) and kept us watered and caffeinated throughout the meal. We took forever on deciding what to eat partially do to not having seen each other in so long, but mainly due to the fact that everything on the menu made our mouths water. My friend is a vegetarian and she had so many options to choose from. I ended up going with the brunch carbonara (pasta for breakfast? Count me a convert) which has perfectly cook asparagus spears, crispy and yummy pancetta bits, with a beautiful runny poached egg right on top and oh so cheesy. She got the eggs over the sun, Parmesan polenta with heaps of savory goodness and 3 eggs on top. Our whole experience was so wonderful, we never felt rushed, we needed for nothing, and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I've now got even more of an excuse to make the trek to Ballard, because I definitely want to still try their entire menu. read more

Our server was so outstanding, I want to give her a 5 star rating! She was very knowledgeable and very patient in answering all our questions. She paced the meal well. Unfortunately, only some of the food was great. The coq au vin and short ribs were delicious and well prepared. The fried chicken was wonderfully crispy and well-seasoned. Some of the food was so-so. The red sauce for the meatballs was better than the meatballs themselves, which were too heavily seasoned with smoked paprika. None of us liked the meatballs, and yet scraped the last bit of sauce from the dish. The brussel sprouts (on the menu since day 1!) were tasty but extremely sweet. The would have been a better dessert than starter. The fries were crispy and hot, but we couldn't taste the black truffle at all. The Caesar salad had nice flavor, but the salt wasn't balanced between the fried capers, croutons, cheese and dressing (overly salty). We will try it again, hoping the kitchen was having a bit of an off night. read more

TLDR: savory. Try the fries. Carrot cake! Loud atmosphere filled with chatter chatter. You can't hear the music. The whole place is basically a big bar. Menu has no pictures but is descriptive enough. Some Italian names in there that I had to Google. Dessert menu is on the wall behind the bar. Service: seat yourself, server will take your order, check brought to your table. Service is a bit slow when it comes to checking out. We waited for our check for a long time and it took even longer for the card to come back. Servers will waft desserts past you to try an entice you--a server presented the desserts from another table as he was waiting them and said that it was for "future reference". Haha. The temptation was real. Carrot Cake: oh look, a carrot cake with actual carrots in it! Citrus cream cheese frosting so very good. The cake is lightly sweetened and boy howdy is that slice a monstrosity--huuuuggge proportion. I guess it's a good thing it's not too sweet right? Less sugar and less guilt if you eat more. Come on there's carrots in there. It's healthy! *wink* Lemon Ginger Soda: not much carbonation and tasted much like sugar water. Had to squeeze the lemon slice and shove it in the drink to get a hint of lemon. Unless this was mixed incorrectly and I'm totally wrong, I wouldn't recommend this drink. Pulled Pork Sandwich: so tender and tasty! But man is it messy to eat! Like a glorified sloppy joe. I wish there was a bit more veggies in there with all that savory pork--the pickled radish added a nice tang. The spice is not that spicy at all. So you spice intolerant folk that are like me do not need to hide in fear. The bread was satisfyingly chewy. Fries are cooked and seasoned to perfection.
