Great food! Great atmosphere! The staff was friendly. They set us up with an excellent table for V-day and made accommodations for heat. The food was reasonably priced and very quality. We were delighted with the entire experience and would go back. The only thing I was disappointed with was asking more than once to make one of the dishes dairy-free. It's tough having allergies and food intolerances. But, they did what they could and were prompt with their service and response. The Blue Glass is a friendly neighborhood spot to get drinks and a quick bite to eat. My spouse and I went there on an early Saturday afternoon when it wasn't too busy. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the seared ahi app to share. The ahi was a pleasant surprise - well seasoned with the pepper crust and not at all fishy tasting! The wasabi mayo drizzled was also light and a nice compliment to the tuna. The chicken sandwich was also really good - perfectly fried and with a generous amount of delicious fries on the side. One comment is that I think the sandwich could use a lighter bread or be ordered with cheese since the regular fixings weren't super flavorful to offset the bun. Small little bar/restaurant on 65th west of Wallingford & the freeway. It had a clean, comfortable/ laid back vibe, really good food & drinks, and great service. We started out the only patrons there, but we ate early on a Sunday, and ppl were definitely filtering in as we were ready to go. I tried the rib eye, which was cooked perfectly and came w a cream cheese style garlic sauce, smashed potatoes and yummy butternut squash. Two of my dates got the small beef rib medallions w squash and polenta (I picked it out the night before, but knowing I cd sneak bites from my date, I changed my entree. It was VERY tender, and the polenta was enjoyable). Lastly, my friend's husband had the shrimp (which i'm allergic to, so didn't enquire about it, but he seemed to enjoy himself). Our drinks were really good too. I had their Paloma, which was tasty enough for seconds. My dates also each had 2 beverages. Dessert was super good. My lovely Brasilian lady friend and I both had the decadent chocolate lava cake w home made vanilla ice cream, my date tried the healthier rice pudding w pistachios (which she took home and I thought wd make a fabulous breakfast), and Brasilian friend's husband tried the cheesecake, which was a baked version & looked very dense. My date and I both had coffee as well. The server was absolutely lovely & very attentive, and the other staff was friendly & accommodating. I've eaten here a couple of times over the years, and enjoyed it. Last night I had the best burger I've ever had! It was cooked perfectly medium rare as requested, and had such great char flavor! The bun looked small, but the burger was thick and wonderful, with cheddar (my request, instead of Swiss), poblano chiles, and spicy aioli. Just so good! It came with great frites, and we shared some (large portion) fried brussels sprouts in a honey chile vinaigrette. I would have liked some acid/vinegar on the sprouts, but they were delicious, especially the char. My husband enjoyed his short ribs on polenta, very tasty, said the meat could have been a little more tender. We enjoyed our drinks and wine. Our server was mostly attentive, just a couple of lapses. Overall a wonderful dinner, and relatively quiet, unlike most places now. read more

SO happy that I finally got a chance to come here. I can already seeing this being a regular spot for my boyfriend and I. And also taking any visitors here for a chill, relaxing dinner. I literally liked this place so much and was so happy how on point the other Yelp-er's are about this place, I had to write a review the same night I went. Came here tonight for a catch up dinner with my friend after almost 2 months and my first dinner out for more than a week (being sick sucks), and it was the perfect place. We sat at the bar. It wasn't too crowded. There was plenty of spots at the bar and tables. They had happy hour going on till 6 pm that night. It's nice they have it on the weekends too! I got a cider, my friend had a beer and ordered the artichoke spinach dip for us to share. The bartender was friendly and attentive but too in your face which was nice. I got a water, whatever cider was on tap, and decided on the braised short ribs. Everything on the menu looks so good. It's not just your typical bar food. They have a board with specials of the day on it, and they sounded amazing. The artichoke dips was good, creamy and perfectly seasoned. It came with these thin/long slices of a baguette. I enjoyed it. We finished the bread and still had a lot of dip leftover. The bartender came over and asked if he wanted us to get us some more slices of bread. We said no, but it was great service. I watched some of the other dishes come out of the kitchen, and it all looked amazing. The food took a little bit longer than average to get to us, but it wasn't that big of a deal. I barely noticed. The short ribs were really good. Tender and well seasoned. I loved the polenta it came with and the broccolini (?) or whatever greens it came with. Seriously so good. My friend got the veggie burger and said it was fantastic. Afterwards, I decided I wanted to get dessert. There was a dessert menu up on the board as well, but when the bartender handed me the menu, it was a little different from the board. It didn't have the carrot cake on it, which was a little disappointing because I love a good carrot cake. I decided on the creme brulee. It was SO good, I definitely did not settle. It was a good portion size and the amount of vanilla bean specks in the custard made me so happy. I love the atmosphere of the place too. Super chill and very relaxed. Service is great, they were all very friendly. I really enjoyed it here and can't wait to take my boyfriend here. I can't wait to try the rest of the food here and have my eye on that carrot cake whenever it makes it back on the menu! Parking around the neighborhood wasn't too bad either. Just ordered Caviar takeout. We sampled the three sandwiches, and all were undercooked. The chicken breast was on the jiggly, pink side, like it was taken out of the fryer too soon. The hamburger was also red, not just pink, on the inside. And to round it out, the veggie burger was cold. Good ingredients on all, but the undercooking sure spoiled the show. For two different cooking methods to come out underdone (grilled and fried), this seems like an issue with the cook and not some issue with the fryer being broken. read more

The Blue Glass is a hidden gem in the Phinney Ridge/Whittier Heights area of Seattle! What a great find and wonderful experience. We popped in around 17:15 for Happy Hour (16:00-18:00) and easily found seats at the bar. The place was not busy, but things quickly picked near the end of HH and onward. The staff was friendly and attentive the entire meal. Our eyes were bigger than our tummies, but we made it through all the food ordered! Check out my pics and see the great portions and delicious food. The brussels sprouts were fried perfectly and the chili sauce had just enough spice. Our huge bowl of fries were perfect, crispy all the way and not greasy. Dipping sauces included catsup and mayo/aioli. The Thai mussels really stood out; nice and plump, fresh mussels in a delicious coconut curry sauce. We also had a couple pieces of toasted bread to sop up that tangy and tasty sauce! The evening's seafood special were scallops in brown butter sauce with red potatoes, bacon, red peppers, and romanesco. Everything was cooked just right and so glad we shared everything. Now we know, in the future, not to order so much or come with VERY empty stomachs, haha! The Blue Glass delivered on all fronts and I'm impressed it's maintained a 4.5+ star rating average. Had dinner with a couple friends here on a Saturday night, it was pretty empty. We had the risotto, fried chicken sandwich and I just had a plate of burrata. The risotto was good, it was pretty heavy and just.. a lot of food. If you get fries, make sure you get the garlic aioli, it just makes everything better. My burratta was great, although the bread was just a bit too toasted that came with it, to the point where it wasn't super enjoyable to eat. We also had the apple bread pudding at the end, which was a little soggy for me. It came with ice cream and a couple variations of apples, yum. The bathrooms have these stickers everywhere bearing the name of the company that's responsible for the scent in there... I just did not like the scent very much, and it's a little strong inside. Service was good, our waiter was very attentive, food came out fast, and he was very nice. It's a good place, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here though. read more

Three stars is a stretch for tonight, unfortunately. The staff seemed overburdened. They were very slow to get to us but once they did, it wasn't a long wait for drinks or food. And then we come to the food. We had two small plates: pesto cream gnocchi and cauliflower with romesco. The gnocchi was heavy, almost pasty, and clunky. The cauliflower was badly over-seasoned with salt, though the texture was pretty good. For dessert, coconut coriander rice pudding with pistachios. The portion was huge (like two cups) but the dish was also a miss. The rice was undercooked so the texture was less like pudding and more like pinhead oats. Overall, I don't think we'll return. read more

I was very surprised at the reviews on Google, Facebook and OpenTable. This is the worst food in Seattle. My group and I ordered the steak, chicken burger, truffle fries and the short ribs all of which were awful. The fries tasted frozen and under done. The steak was grey with old fashion fake grill marks and not cooked to the correct temp. I asked for medium rare and I got blue rare. The chicken sandwich was dry and tasteless. There are so many options in Ballard this was not worth it. It is not surprise the place was empty on a Sunday night. read more

Just left on a TUESDAY night at 8pm. We barely got seated, ordered a drink and an appetizer- 35 min still no waiter. Never going in again. Small bar/restaurant. Interior is cute, but no wow factor. We had Brussels sprouts, seared ahi, burrata, the short ribs and the creme brûlée. Food was good, my partner and I agreed the Brussels sprouts were the best thing we ate. He had a cocktail, hand squeezed Paloma and said it was good. Service was alright, not great not bad. They had us sit at a small table when there was a nice corner booth open. I wish we could have sat in the booth, would have made me much happier. All in all it was fine. read more

I tried an excellent restaurant that is new to me and about which I have never seen any posts in this group, so I thought I would share. The restaurant is called Blue Glass, in Ballard. It has a "neighborhood" feel with an outstanding menu and the nicest service. I had the lobster roll because I have heard so much about them in this group, but I had never had one. It was fantastic, and I recommend that you upgrade to the truffle fries for a mere $2 more! My companion had a Caesar Salad with shrimp, and she commented that it was delicious and not your standard Caesar, with herbs and capers in it. We shared an excellent bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which was remarkably inexpensive for the quality and finished up with a delectable orange creme brulee. It also has a bar and beer flights. If I lived in this neighborhood, I would be a "regular" there. As it is, I will make the trip from south Seattle again to eat at this Ballard neighborhood gem. read more
