We come up a few times a year to visit. Fish & Chips NEVER fail! Crab cakes, fried class all tasty as well. Fast friendly, young folks all the time. Perfect seaside seafood.

We came here a couple of times on our trip to Bodega Bay. The fish and chips are excellent. So are the calamari, the blackened fish sandwich and the cheeseburger. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is basic fish shack chic[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the the service is excellent. They serve beer.

A Bodega Bay institution, The Boat House Cafe has what you're craving whether that's crabcakes, a blackened chicken sandwich, or clam strips, there's something here for everyone. If you want calamari, or oysters, or scallops they have plenty for you here too. The staff is accommodating and patient with those having endless questions and modifications... Like me... [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambience is greasy spoon and a bit of a throwback to simpli tomes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Partner and I stopped to grab a quick lunch around 12 pm on a Saturday. It was empty when we arrived but picked up by the time we left. We ordered fish and chips and calamari. The guy at the counter taking our order was super sweet and delivered our food to our table outside. Food came hot and fresh, very yummy. Fries were a good texture but I personally would have liked more seasoning. Fish was alright, though I preferred the calamari. Note: Calamari comes with fries also! We went in to ask for cocktail sauce and they gave us some. Lots of very cute indoor seating options, super vibey. We opted to sit outside for some fresh air. Overall a solid pick on your drive by, and while the food isn't mind blowing, the ambiance is great and would totally recommend!

Great service (super friendly hostess out in front) and fish and chips were great. Four average sized fish were crispy (but not overpoweringly so) and flaky. I liked the fish texture. The fries were alright, crispy but needed more salt and/or would personally like them more smaller. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is great with a plethora of seating options.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We got 2 large bowls of Clam Chowder and two beers. $47 and some change. I don't mind the money, but there was hardly any clams in the chowder. It was like eating cream of Potato soup. Don't know what happened, it use to be way better than Spuds. Have to try them again I guess. Service was friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Still indoor & outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I have been here a few times! I always like their clam chowder. For me it has a bunch of veggies and it's always fresh. I'm picky with celery since I always taste it but not with the chowder from here. They did add a little less salt on the clam chowder I got today but it was good nonetheless. This was my first time getting the fish and chips. The dish was super fresh but had a little salt for my taste. The staff here is always nice and accommodating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outside area is nice and each has salt and pepper.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you like veggies on your chowder this spot is for you!

This was a nice place with a variety of food to eat for lunch while also avoiding the winds the weekend my husband and I visited ! I wanted some seafood, being in Bodega Bay, and my husband wanted something more burger/sandwich-y - and the Boathouse has both. I had a clam chowder bowl and my husband ordered a chicken sandwich, and we shared an order of fish and chips. Honestly, everything just tasted O.K., nothing was terrible but it also wasn't very flavorful, either. The food came out really fast so that was nice on the service end, and the restaurant itself for sure has boathouse vibes which was cool for visiting Bodega Bay. Parking is tricky though, since it is really small. However, after you're done eating, the restaurant is also next to a kite & candy shop as well as a cafe/coffee shop, so you could stop by the shops to check out other things or grab dessert even!

    Cheers to us

This place is a hidden gem right around the curve our first time trying it. I got a combo of calamari and oysters and hubby got fish and chips and a cup of clam chowder. The fish and chips were perfect and the calamari and oysters were so good clam chowder had lots of clams and it was a lot of food staff was knowledgeable and friendly and we got our food quick you won't be disappointed. And it's dog friendly

Service was great, but the food was just okay. We ordered the crab cake sandwich and there was really no crab or cake.. it was just a small sliver of something flat that did taste like crab.. but there was so much bread (and the tomato felt thicker than the crab cake) so if we return it wouldn't be for the sandwich. Right across from Bodega Harbor Inn though; and has a few more walkable spots you can walk to from here, so still worth the stop by. Good selection of craft beer (in fridge/bottles). Again, service was great too!

The best fish and chips in Bodega Bay! My husband loves the clam strips and chips! Skip the clam chowder in my opinion!

    Are dogs allowed outside?

Yup. Not a problem. We've eaten in the outdoor covered dining area many times with no issues.

It's an unassuming, un-aesthetic sandwich but just simply real crab with light mayo and celery dressing. Only regret not getting 2 bc I'd have to brave the line again. Seemed to only have 1 person taking orders and also distributing orders so things were slow. Chowder was also my favorite one from this trip and my kids loved their chili (they sell bread loaves on the side if you need a dipper). Pro tip: not much parking, prepare for side of road and walk. Outdoor seating available but tables are pretty cramped.

It took them almost 15 minutes to serve the first customer in line and the food looks pre-made (chowder and sandwich meat). I ordered the crab sandwiches and white clam chowder. Nothing special about their famous chowder. The crab sandwich is basically a hotdog bun with salty crab meat. The line is long and the wait times are slow because of the workers. Prices are high, $22 per sandwich and $10 for a cup of chowder. I'm still giving them 2 stars overall because I like the view of bodega bay from here. I will not be coming back.

Clam and scallop chowder in a bead bowl makes for a great day at Bodega Bay. Owner Alicia is a local gem of a human and takes pride serving up family recipes to indulge in. Great place great people. During restaurant week they topped over 100 crab sandos to very happy folks! I thought it was going to be a cliche cheesy over-the-top tourist restaurant, but it was the complete opposite. Does it get busy and filled with tourists, yes, but the decor is pleasant, the wait staff attentive, and the food and drinks were on point! We were both in that state where you're not super hungry but you should probably eat something. We got well made/ balanced cocktails, shrimp cocktail with what I believe were fried crackers, (their cocktail sauce is the real deal with real horseradish in it, this is the way cocktail sauce should be, other restaurants take notes). We also got raw oysters (glad to see they had a seperate menu for them listing species, size, etc), their namesake Oyster Rockerfeller (a bit of a let down unfortunately), my girl got the crab gazpacho (very tomato forward with big bits of real crab) and I got the Cajun Blackened Shrimp & Grits (Big Bay/ southern flavors in this, huge shrimp and creamy comforting grits). The irony is not lost on me, we ordered a lot of food for not being super hungry but it was well worth it! While there are many seafood restaurants in/ around Bodega Bay, this one is not to be missed!
