So today me and my family wanted boiling crab so we went to this location like always. We never had an issue til today. I was arriving and my parents were putting their names on the waiting list. My parents are elderly but jn the past there never have been an issue with boiling crab. When I arrived I went to check our place on the list because for some reason they had not texted my father with a link. Speaking to the female that had blue hair strands and a nose ring, she informed me that they did not have my parents on the waiting list. I asked her what had happened and she informed me that she did talk to my parents but for some reason their information was not recorded. I put my name with my number down for the list now and she told me it would be 2 and a half hour wait. Keep in mind my parents have already waited for over 40 minutes before I arrived. She had no compassion or understanding in her voice or demeanor. I felt like she didn't care that there was a mix up. She was the one to talk to my parents and she remembered them. We decided to leave and have our family dinner at a place that actually cared about it's customers. This experience really left a bad taste in my respect for the establishment. We went on a Thursday around 7pm, I made sure when I left work I added our group to the waiting list. We arrived on time and waited about 5mins before being seated. The food came out quickly and it was delicious as usual. The waiter wasn't attentive, I wish I would have remembered his name, but he was not attentive at all. We had to wave him down multiple times, not something I enjoy doing. The ambiance was great because it wasn't full, it wasn't until we were getting ready to leave that it began to get packed. 12/19/21 The Boiling Crab 129 W Main St Alhambra, CA 91801 I went there on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. This place is in downtown Alhambra and there is a city parking (free) structure nearby on First St. The dining area is large and split into a large and small section. It's a popular place, it was half full when I got there and more people arrived while I was there. There is a small two station hand washing area on the way to the restrooms, you will need to use it if you get anything from the boil menu. I was seated promptly at a table covered with paper and my waitress shortly came to take my order. I ordered the 1 pound of mussels with the garlic sauce at the medium heat level and the fried catfish with Cajun fries at the XXX level. The mussels came first in a plastic bag in a stainless steel bucket. The waitress plopped the bag on the table and asked me if I wanted a fork, I said yes and she brought me a little plastic fork which was useless so I used my hands to extract the meat and dip in the sauce at the bottom of the bag. The large pieces of meat were tender, had good garlic flavor and the spice level was high but okay for me. The catfish and fries came second. The portions were generous with 4 deep fried pieces on the Cajun fries. The catfish had an "off" taste to me and not appetizing at all, the breading was bland. The fries were okay and the heat level was about the same as the mussels. I wouldn't get the catfish again but the mussels were good, stick with the boil menu. Maybe a repeat for other boil choices. Three of the boil choices (blue and dungeness crab, and crayfish) were not available so call ahead if you're going for a specific choice. read more

But damn, I came tonight for a birthday with a party of 15 on a Wednesday night and the service was absolutely horrible. From the moment we sat down we were ready to order because we waited about 45 minutes at 6:30. Our bibs came late, we had to ask for everything you usually would just get like condiments and following up on drinks. I came for dinner at 8pm and you have to walk in to be place on a waitlist. All your party has to be present to be seated. The worker quoted 30-45 minutes, but we only waited 10 minutes until we got seated. Usually, my go-to order are shrimp and cajun fries. And I recently tried and learned to open crawfish and it was delicious. It is like a mini lobster. I got introduced to try the catfish here and I loved it. So when I came back, I had to order it. Whenever I come to boiling crab it's just such an experience, i genuinely think that if you love sea food and great customer service you should come here. The waits are sometimes long but over all always worth it. Typically there's a lot going on in the restaurant with people constantly being seated and the lines as well as the people who are waiting for their food. As for service, I've only ever had great service at boiling crab. 10/10 experience highly recommend. read more

I love the boiling crab! I always receive great service here. Out of any seafood boil I've tried, the shabang sauce is simply the best. I also love that BC offers salt/pepper and lemons. The fried shrimp basket is EXCELLENT. I love that the shrimp is not really breaded and with some lemon squeezed over it, it is chefs kiss. Their Cajun and lemon pepper fries and onion rings are always on point. One major drawback for me is the quality of their shrimp. It is not always the best quality and they don't offer the shrimp deveined. This is huge for me. When you try to remove the poop after it is cooked, it is slimy and squishes all over. I really wish they had the option for deveined shrimp even if at a higher cost. I will often choose a different shrimp boil restaurant because of this, but I still crave the shabang sauce which eventually keeps me coming back to BC. Went there to celebrate my nieces graduation 06/10/2024. I spoke to a couple of the crew members and none of them seemed to be on the same page about sitting a big party of 20 that I had mentioned many times hours before arriving just to give them a heads up. I finally arrived at the restaurant and was told for a party that big I would have to wait about 3 1/2 hours. Very inconvenient. Things could've gone worse BUT, James reached out and was amazing! Walked in with a table of 4 and waited around 10 minutes to be seated! Service was fast and friendly. For all the seafood, we ordered "the whole she-bang" sauces. The whole she-bang sauce was spicy and garlic-y, and a little sweet. Adding the lime helped bring out the nuances! The shrimp was thick and juicy, and well flavored by the juices of the boil inside. The crawfish was more tender, and had more flavor extracted from it from the juices of the body/head. The fries were super crispy yet soft and fluffy on the inside! The seasoning was flavorful but not overpowering. The gumbo was a bit too watery and not flavorful enough. The texture was less like gumbo and more like a thinner soup. read more

I ordered a pound of shrimp, but when I received my order, there were only 7 shrimp in total. The bag felt unusually light as soon as I picked it up, especially compared to previous orders. Given that seafood isn't cheap, this is even more frustrating. On top of that, I've had an ongoing issue with the side of ranch I requested. The first two times, it was forgotten, and the third time, I was given tartar sauce instead. It's really inconvenient to repeatedly deal with the same issues, especially since we don't live nearby and can't just run back to fix things. I came with a group of friends. We checked in on yelp to join the wait list. We heard the walk-ins get told that the wait would be 2.5 hours! So definitely join the wait list on yelp before you leave home. I got the fried catfish and fries. I didn't have the energy to peel shrimp. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. She asked us if we needed anything plenty of times. The food was good, not great tho. I don't get why people are so obsessed with this place. plenty of other places, that don't have ridiculously long waits, and just as mediocre food near by.
