My mouth is watering as I begin this review... and this usually doesn't happen unless something is really awesome. I came here on a Monday afternoon, shortly after opening time (around 3:30) with 3 friends. We were seated in less than 5 minutes and promptly ordered. Our food took around 10 minutes to arrive, which was awesome because we were so darn hungry! We ordered: - 2 pounds of shrimp + 2 corn on the cobs (no spice, the Whole Shebang) - 1/2 pound of shrimp (mild, cajun) - 1 pound of clams (not sure about the seasoning) I'd say the best deal at Boiling Crab is the shrimp. + get corn in the bag! + my predilection is for milder food, so I got the whole Shebang with no spice, because the time I got mild, I nearly cried. + get ready to get your hands dirty with oil and sauce (but don't fret, they provide loads of napkins and a plastic bib to protect your clothes!) I think shelled sorts of things aren't entirely worth it because they weigh by the pound, and you're basically paying for the shells. (ex. Crawfish, Clams) I haven't had the crab or the lobster here, so I don't really know what to say about that... If you come at the right time, it's so. darn. worth it. Come on now. If you like seafood with amazing seasoning then you'll love this place. If you don't like getting dirty, then this place might not be for you. So, first date? Mayyyybeeee... not. Unless you're okay with making a fool of yourself. What they do is, they put your food into a bag with the marinade and shake that baby up. Then you get to it! Its definitely very messy because you will be de-shelling all your seafood yourself. I always get some shrimp, its just a good bang for your buck, and I get it with the whole sha-bang. This comes with a buttery, garlic, and spicy cajun marinade. Throw some corn on the cob and sausages and you got a really tasty meal. If you like lobster and crab, just keep in mind that you will be doing all the work with greasy hands, and it can get a bit messy (make sure you wear the bib they give you). It's definitely a fun place to go with friends, but I wouldn't suggest a large party because seating is limited and there is ALWAYS a wait. Trust me though, It's totally worth the wait. It was my first time coming to this location since they relocated from Valley Blvd to Main Street. I think it is funny that they basically moved from a spot that was about the same size as their new location. I think they should have gotten a bigger place. This place is always busy. It seems to have stood the test of time. However, I think after I looked at my bill, it is much more expensive than what I had remembered before. Actually, they have downgraded some of their bags. They used to include potatoes and corn but now they exclude that and charge more. Hmm....I think it is good to eat at Boiling Crab once in a while, but I'd probably shop around for some better deals as their pricing is definitely on the high side. The service is still pretty good. Great restaurant. It reminds me of when I used to live in Maryland and we would eat Maryland crabs. It's such a hands on/fun experience! Make sure that you are ready to get messy. I didn't know what kind of restaurant boiling crab was and of course I was wearing a white sweater so it made it hard to enjoyably eat since the sauce is very red and you do a lot of eating with your hands. I got a half pound of shrimp with the whole sha-bang sauce, corn on the cob and sausages. It all comes in a bag and you eat with your hands- no plates or utensils needed. Everything was so delicious. Although, the sausages were best when warm so I would eat those first if you get them. If you want to get fries, order a shrimp or catfish basket since they come with cajun fries as well. I recommend the fried shrimp! The restaurant is kind of small so be prepared to wait. We had a group of 9 and we waited over an hour (but totally worth the wait!) Also, they automatically add tip for groups with more than 6 people. Keep this in mind- my friend didn't realize and ended up leaving double the tip. read more

The seasonings are not the same as home but they were definitely very good and very different. The corn and potatoes in the mix was very good. It was very pricy ($9 a pound for FROZEN crawfish). There was a charge for everything including mayo, which was pretty odd. I think they should come up with a much better wait system and invest in the notifications beepers patrons can have. Full disclosure. Shrimp is boiled whole. Heads on, shells on and intestinal vein intact. You peel, you twist the heads off and you can devein if you are bothered by the poops. If a little poop doesn't bother you just dunk that baby in the whole shabang sauce and enjoy! Staff here is awesome. Have a little patience. Staff is young and are pulled in every direction. Be cool with them and they cater to you. Truth is they are food service workers working through a pandemic serving grumpy people! I love this place! Crowd and line gets heavy about 6pm. But the wait is worth it. Prices for pounds of seafood is reasonable. Music is great too! New location bigger and roomier. Only complaint is when your server is busy with others, the other staff will ignore tables that don't belong to them. I've flagged down people while I was waiting for my server for a good 15 minutes for a another michelada only to be told "hold on I'll get your server", and then nothing. This Boiling Crab restaurant looks like the smallest Boiling Crab I've been too. However, the wait for a table for my friend and I took only 20 minutes :D But that was not the best part. After we were seated, we ordered 2 lbs of the whole shabang and mild shrimp along with an order of sweet potato fries and mild cajun fries. The best part is when it came out in 5-10 minutes! WOW. Some people wait 30+ minutes just to even get IN to Boiling Crab but we were already peeling and devouring the shrimps and potatoes, respectively :D Our meal came out to $29.32, which is pretty good because I'd be down to drop that much money here than a generic sushi dinner if I was craving seafood. Gah! I can't believe it took me so long to come here! Yes, you eat with your hands, you eat saucy, messy seafood and you use your wax papered table as a giant plate. And yes, it is awesome. I got 1lb of shrimp, mild with the "whole shabang" (WHICH YOU HAVE TO GET. PERIOD.) which is a mix of the 3 sauces, garlic, butter, spices mmmm. I got sweet potato fries, but I totally forgot about that, it happens all the time, so my tip is that you don't need it ha. The mild had a slight kick, good for anyone who likes spice but doesn't want to risk not having a full meal haha, and my friend got the most spicy one, and the waiter had to do the obligatory warning that it's REALLY spicy. I had one and it wasn't bad! the sauce was all on the outside, but it was really spicy haha, I like my mild (and I'm someone who likes tabasco and siracha). She got sausage and it came in her bag of shrimp, mixed with the sauce and it was pretty good! I got a coke, free refills. Make sure you ask for salt and pepper, it comes mixed in a little dish, it's great! My tips: Get the "whole shabang", don't order a side unless there's a lot of people, free refills, get salt and pepper, and re-dip your shrimp in the bag of sauce after you peel it to get that garlic ! oh and if you ask for a bib, the wait will TIE IT ON YOU, so turn around for them! Although I don't like to admit it, I get the occasional craving for Boiling Crab. But I do have a love/hate relationship with this place.. Love the shrimp, hate the food coma. I won't go into detail about the seafood because it has all been said already.. But I definitely recommend getting some corn on the cob! It soaks up all the sauce and becomes a sweet/spicy slab of deliciousness. :D For those of you who don't like to get down and dirty with your food and want to retain some dignity by not wearing a bib, the Cajun fries are pretty good. You can get them spicy and they're really crispy and flavorful. The chicken wings are also surprisingly delicious. They're crunchy but not super greasy, and the pepper gives them a nice kick. If you arrive before then, your wait will be gauranteed less than 1 hour. I think 5PM is the best time to go, little to no wait at all. My favorite items: Oysters, Shrimp w/ Whole Shabang, Shrimp Basket, and Sweet Potato Fries. Even though I love me some Boiling Crab, I do not love the garlic-y feeling afterwards. Came here right before the huge crowd hit so thank god. This would be my third time here and I love it. The place is really nice and unique from most restaurants. I would really recommend anyone to try the fried calamari and the Cajun fries. That's if you haven't not tried the heavenly shrimp! Don't get the clams bc you're just gonna get the shells -.- The BF said that he thought the crawfish was a better value + it goes really well with the Cajun flavors. I personally don't like peeling crawfish and prefer sucking on the shrimps head. Immediately after I finished eating, I had to go to the bathroom... not sure if I just can't handle the med & xxx level anymore or if I got food poisoning... the BF thinks it's bc I can't tolerate the spice level. Came to The Boiling Crab for dinner yesterday and I couldn't have been happier. I put my name on the waitlist through yelp. When we arrived out table was ready. As soon as we sat down our waitress came over to introduce herself and take our drink order. She came back a few minutes later with our drinks and took out food order.
