The lady at the front said it would be an hour-hour and a half wait, and we had time to kill so we waited. She took my number and I got the yelp updates. Checked every ten minutes or so to see how close we would be. Finally an hour and five minutes later, we got the text that the table was ready and we were seated. Our server (forgot his name, but he had clear glasses) was literally the best. Had a huge smile on his face, and his energy was just amazing. Great place. Overall pretty good experience as a family friendly restaurant to get messy with seafood especially with kids or larger party ...we really enjoyed it! Pros: Great bang for your buck ,lots of fun with family ,service staff pretty on point helpful and friendly although slow . If you're looking for flavor with loads of garlic and different levels of spiciness, this is the place. Clean, not fishy, tons of tv screens for sports fans, a section where you can wash your hands and lots of space. Located in the heart of downtown Burbank, just steps away from the AMC Burbank 16 and I think a couple of ice cream places, coffee shops, a wide variety of stores and restaurants and the mall on the next block. Karla was our server and I only saw her attend our table once maybe twice...to take the order and to write her name on the table. Rest of her time was spent on chatting/talking/chilling usually with three other employees at the counter. I saw four different bussers + servers come and refill the water/put bibs on us/get the check for us + the wipes since Karla never came back. I do not know how the working culture is at Burbank's boiling crab is...but as someone with server/waiter experience...nothing bothers me more than servers with seniority? who neglects their tables and let other servers + bussers take over the tables they are responsible for (It was a Monday night and slow/closing time btw). read more

This location is located right in the middle of Downtown Burbank. It's surrounding by the AMC 16 and a bunch of other restaurants. I like the fact that there are lots of free parking, but if you come here on the weekend, parking can be a bit of an issue. Since there's so much traffic in this area, this location can be quite a bit of a wait. Especially if you have a large party. I think this is the only Boiling Crab that has an outside patio. I do wish that they put a heat lamp outside because hot or cold, I think there will always be a line at the door and it would be great if they put a heat lamp for the winter nights. This is one of the larger locations I've seen also. Food wise, it's pretty consistent with the other ones I've been to. read more

Awful costumer service. There's one manager in there that always has an attitude for no reason at all her name is Elsy. She acts like she's the owner and the boss in the restaurant.When we ordered mild shrimp it was super spicy. Mind you I come to there every week and I know how MILD shrimp tastes like, as well as I have my own restaurant and I know when something is off in food. I've never had such horrendous experience especially when you're a manager you should try to solve a problem not double it by complaining. We asked them to take it back since it was horrendously too spicy and it was way different from how we usually get it. Anyhow I ordered food obviously to go but they packed everything with care and ready to go. Came home the food was still hot and fresh. Quick review; This is the spot to go for a seafood boil in Burbank. Great food, good service, and fun atmosphere. Good times at the Burbank Boiling Crab. I recommend you try one of these seafood boil spots at least once during your tenure on Earth. But fair warning, it's gonna be messy and labor intensive getting through your meal. So if you're just trying to have a nice, civilized dinner with a partner, forget it. You better be ready to get dirty, get flirty, and stuff each other's faces with meat! Most of the menu is a la carte. So if you want crab, first you choose the type of crab, then how you want it sauced. If you want potatoes you gotta add it, and so on. There is no set combo for the seafood boils. Which is a mistake imo. Why not have a combo where you get crab legs, corn, and potatoes. Or crawfish, sausage and corn, and so on. I think it make it easier. We ended up ordering a number of things off the menu; king crab legs, shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes, and fried soft shell crab basket w fries. And ya we ate every single morsel between 2 people! If I could add an improvement, it would be the option to have your seafood cleaned for you. Either by table side, or someone in the back. I'm sure people would pay extra for the service. Because cleaning the seafood yourself (cracking shells, peeling, etc) is very labor intensive, and if you don't know what your doing, you can actually hurt yourself. Besides that, a person who's inexperienced might not even know how to get crab meat out of the leg. Opening up a crab leg takes 5 sec if you have proper scissors. Where as the tools they provide aren't really optimal for the task. They give you a type of nut cracker, and a tool you can poke meat through the shells. With that said, I recommend skipping the shrimp entirely. They take a long time to clean, and since they have not been deveined, the 'poop shoot' is still in tact. It needs to be removed or your eating poopy shrimp. Most people don't know this, some don't care, but I don't know, I guess I'm not much into eating shrimp poop so I took time removing it. Just a pointer for yall, skip shrimp. In conclusion, The Boiling Crab is one of the better restaurants in Burbank. The city is actually lacking in fine dinning, but for a fun casual place this really hits the spot. read more

I'm sad to say that I was dissapointed with my experience at Boiling Crab. My family and I used to go to the Alhambra location, but when Crab Avenue in Glendale opened up, we started going there instead. We decided to come here for our "Easter Dinner" on Saturday night. It looked busy but we were told that the wait would be only 25-30 minutes for our party of eight. It ended up being 45 minutes instead. We were seated at a table that was kind of small, but we made it work. We ordered some fries and chips, and king crab legs and shrimp for our seafood. The shrimp was really hard to peel, and the crab legs seemed mushy and slightly off in flavor. Not to mention, the whole shabang sauce was TOO salty, and they sort of skimp with the amount of sauce in the bag. The cajun fries were delicious but even the mild seemed spicy. On a positive note, the service was great. They really do a wonderful job at making sure the wait time for the food is minimal. Our waiter William was helpeful and patient with our party. Forget the one in K-Town where the wait is over an hour or two long, this location is spacious, A grade clean, and has amazing service. Both outdoor and indoor seating. There is parking available in many different nearby public parking structures around Palm Ave. Keep in mind this place opens at 3pm on weekdays, we sort of arrived 30 minutes early and was left outside in the rain but it was so worth it to wait! The booth seats are the best and most intimate. They give you a bib to put over yourself, although no gloves available, and they put a new paper on the table for evert customer that arrives. Eat with your hands, don't be afraid to get messy! I ordered one pound of shrimp, corn, wings, and lemon pepper fries. The shrimp was super fresh and it was boiling hot when it came to us. Choose your fish, your sauce style (recommend: the whole shebang), and how hot you want it. The wings were good, the outside was hard but the inside was just right. The lemon pepper fries were amazingly tasty. For my gluten free people: do not order the fries, get the potatoes that come in the bag with the corn. The hostess very nicely warned us not to order the fries if we have a gluten allergy,I'm assuming they use the same fryer as their breaded shrimp/fish. I especially love that they have Micheladas that taste authentic, and Margaritas made with a Sobe Rice based tequila. Both are very tasty and very enjoyable with the food. Not as good as it used to be. I have eaten at plenty of boiling crab locations but somehow this particular location doesn't have the same taste. I ordered the king crab legs and a pound of crawfish. The sauce was really salty and it didn't pair well with my beer. The waiter was very attentive and cheerful, however we waited for over an hour for a taste of disappointment. If you think customer service is dead (and mostly, you'd be right), go to The Boiling Crab. They have the best service team I've seen in literally decades. Every team member holds the door for the customer or other servers/bussers/whatever. The manager goes to each table and asks how everything is. A quick glance toward any staff, and whomever sees you looking for assistance comes immediately to fill your request. They don't stop to go get your server. They jump right in. Polite, efficient, and fast service. Now for the food. This is the first time I've ordered fries that didn't require ketchup. I ordered the lemon pepper fries, and they were so tasty that I ditched the ketchup and ate them straight. The soft-shelled blue crab were on the small side, but they told me they were small when I asked, so no disappointment there. Okay, had I been hungrier, I would've wanted more (it came with just two). The price was a tad high, but that's everywhere these days. Oh, and they have both outdoor and indoor dining, AND, AND, they immediately tell you where the handwashing station and restrooms are as they are taking you to your seat. Wow.
