Watch Netflix's Ugly Delicious episode 4 on Viet Cajun crawfish and you'll understand why this place consistently manages a 1+ hour wait to be seated. Each table is covered in wax paper. You get a plastic bib and optional gloves. Use your hands as much as possible. You will get messy here! Crawfish is my favorite food so I always oder the garlic mild. Three pounds should be enough for the average adult but a little girl like me can down 10 because it's sooo delicious. I wish the sauce was more garlicky though. Some places use minced pieces, here they use a whole clove which I don't think is quite as potent. They also offer lots of sides and fix ins like sausage and corn, gumbo, and cajun fries. read more

I have probably been here more than 10 times and the food is always good. I haven't ever interacted with any unpleasant staff and they are knowledgeable of what is on the menu. (Actually, there was one time that I ordered some crab legs, that did not smell right, so they immediately tossed it, without question and took it off my bill. THAT'S how you do business!!!) Know before you go, that the wait can be long. I live close, so when meeting friends, I usually get there first, so I can put my name on the list and then go chill. Parking is tight, so do yourself a favor and carpool. Don't go up there tripping about the wait. I want to be clear and explain that I am not the type of person that typically goes to Yelp to complain about a restaurant; as a General Manager of a restaurant myself, I believe in speaking with management first to give them the opportunity to correct the problem without hurting their review score; after all, we all have bad days. However, this is exactly where the problem lies. To begin, I have heard of The Boiling Crab for some time before deciding to finally go and try it. With all the options for seafood boil now, it took me some time to finally decide to head over a little ways to this spot to try it. I took my wife and made a date night out of it. We arrived on a Friday afternoon, obviously expecting there to be some wait. When we arrived the wait time was 2 hours! Well, if it's really that good, I couldn't get upset, because it was Friday night, it was a popular spot, and you can't get mad at a striving business. Good for them. What I found distasteful was the host telling us we could, "..wait, but we can't guarantee you will be seated at all..", and very bluntly and unapologetic. Fine, it's busy, you're tired, we will come another time. We left and returned the following day at around 3:30. Wait time was 2 hours... okay. Once again, we didn't get upset and decided to just place an order to go since we were there already and we were determined to try it. We ordered snow crab, crawfish, shrimp, potatoes, and a couple other items, which totaled to a $90+ ticket. Almost $100 worth. We bought a drink to sip while we waited, and about 40 minutes later, we got our food and headed home. When we arrived I had my family come eat from the feast we had ordered. Here is the breakdown of the food- The flavor of the "Whole Sha-bang" was great. Not too spicy, pretty good consistency, and plenty of it to wet all the seafood. Crawfish, was not too good and rather hard to peel apart.. this concerned me for a couple reasons; as a cook myself, I have dabbled in many cuisines including seafood boil, and when crawfish is hard to peel, it means either it was overcooked, or dead when it was cooked. From what I was told, the crawfish was suppose to be live, fresh crawfish. Could be misinformation. Either way, our fingers were hurting from cracking them. Shrimp, was terrible. Overcooked and about %40 of them were completely mushy. Potatoes were good, nothing special there, just a simple side. Now the Snow Crab... I have never felt so ripped-off by a restaurant in my life. Obviously it's not King Crab, but I decided to get the next tier down to try, and oh how disappointing. THERE WAS NO MEAT IN THEM!! Clearly they were cooked improperly, and the meat was gone. In all honesty, I must have pulled about a tablespoon worth of meat from the pound we bought. When I held the legs to the light before cracking, I could see they were about %90 empty. What a WASTE of money. So, with all that being said, like I mentioned before, I know we all (restaurants) have bad days.. so decided to call instead and speak with a manager to explain my issues and address the problems with my order. I was put on hold and never spoke to management. So here I am now, sadly. I really was rooting for this spot and wanted to like it, but it let me down in every way. Ugh, The Boiling Crab totally sucks now! It makes me sad to say because I used to love The Boiling Crab. Where is the "shabang" in "the whole shabang"??? I have been waiting almost a year for the return of crawfish season and have been looking forward to going back to The Boiling Crab for it. I even put off lunch so I could eat here around 3:15pm today (they open at 3:00pm) knowing that it is almost impossible to get a table around dinnertime. I'm sad to report that the quality and taste of this place has gone downhill. $9/lb of crawfish. It's March currently and there is a mixture of small, medium and big crawfish. Oh well, that's fine because the whole shabang sauce is the superstar that'll make up for the small crawfish, right? WRONG. The whole shabang sauce used to be the most flavorful sauce compared to all the sauces I have ever had at every other crawfish place but no longer is it flavorful. The bags of crawfish used to have crawfish SWIMMING in the sauce but now there's barely any sauce at the bottom of the bag. I used to love submerging the crawfish meat in it for some extra flavor. I guess that's fine because the sauce has lost all it's shabang flavor anyway. I ordered XXX spice and it wasn't even spicy. What a huge disappointment. It was also $1.25 for the sh*ttiest piece of corn I've ever had. Comparable to the corn they served us in elementary school cafeterias. Their Cajun fries used to be pretty awesome as well but they were just ok today. Fried calamari was meh. Weird how they brought out cocktail sauce for the fried calamari....I've never had fried calamari served with cocktail sauce. Can't say I cared for it. read more

Even the security said "someone will eventually come". 15 mins later a gentleman came and greet us saying the current wait time is 45 mins. There are so many empty tables and servers standing around. We walked out and went to kicking crab. This place is falling of the charts. From bad service to downsizing the shrimp to half of what it used to be. Pricing is ridiculously high. I use to go to Boiling Crab once or twice a week. I was obsessed and addicted. One time in 2020 the food didn't taste right, which shocked me, so I tried the other location. The food was just as bland there. I took a break from Boiling Crab because it's too pricey to have a bad taste. I tried it this week after not going a few years and I must say I was disappointed. I order takeout from this location all the time. Normally I order the mussels with a side of eggs in the whole shabang sauce. The eggs in the whole shabang sauce is my favorite only because the eggs are normally drenched in the sauce. I ordered the catfish with fries and a side of eggs in the whole shabang sauce like 2 weeks ago. Once I made it home like 5 minutes later my food was already cold. I called and spoke to the manager on duty and explained I come to this location frequently and I've never experienced my food being cold once I'm home. The food was very good but the market price for the seafood is very high. You have to pay for everything separately. Crab legs $36lb to add one half of corn on the cob $2. Half lb of shrimp $8.50. $2 for 2 eggs. Once again food is good but please be prepared to pay too dollar for the food. I would definitely say the price is $$$ when it comes to your total bill at the end of the night. Usually I could go to Ruth Chris and have Valet for these prices. Would I go back? If you have a chance to come in, make sure to come in earlier than expected. There is always a wait on the weekends because they have the best seafood in DFW. Crawfish is always solid with the whole shabang seasoning. King crab is always solid, and comes with a lot of meat. The manager, Davis, always takes care of our table and make sure we have everything we need. He usually does a round to check up on everyone. I couldn't fully enjoy like the finger licking experience because everytime I did- I would reach for my water cup and down the thing. It was a terrible cycle so I recommend mild if you're one that enjoys that spice but you don't wanna cry from one bite. Also, the garlic flavor was SOO good. Wayy better than the cajun. This could just be preference but my sister also agreed with me that garlic is better than the cajun! The shrimp was soo delicious in that garlic sauce ugh. I could dream about it. The clams were regular; probably won't get again tbh but overall, had an awesome time!! The service there was spectacular! This was one of my first times getting seafood boil and Boiling Crab did not disappoint! For a table of three, we got two clusters of snow crab, 1 lb of mussels, 1 lb of shrimp, and some extra corn/potatoes. We ordered the Rajun Cajun in the mild spice level and honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. It had a good flavorful kick to it, enough to really enjoy the flavor of the seafood. They all came in their separate bags and we slowly dug in. I encourage whoever goes to dip into the bags extra to get the sauce because it really made the meal for me. I don't usually eat mussels, but I really really liked them especially with the sauce and the shell made it easy for you to get extra juice. We asked for lemons and butter (but honestly, butter not needed). Apparently, an order of Dungeness crab comes as a whole crab, so we stuck with snow crabs and got around 4 legs total per order. But how did I wield this sorcery? I came on a Wednesday and Monday evening. But any weekend day you'll definitely have to wait (esp if it's crawdaddy season) but it's nbd if you're an early bird. I recommend the Whole Sha-Bang sauce with anything. I usually order 1 lb of jumbo shrimp (these things are ginormous y'all), many lbs of the crawfish, crawfish etouffee, Cajun fries, corn, papas, and ofc everything is level XXX 'cos we ain't weak. JK I prefer the medium since it's not as desensitizing on the buds. A perfect blend of not-too-damn-spicy and savory. Snow crab legs are also nice but it's a hassle imo to crack them open so I stay on my small crustacean game. Sparing ya, Mr. Krabs (for now...). Due to a personal feud between a worker of theirs and me outside of the boiling crab, my crawfish order for to go was tempered with and cause it to be inedible due to the spicy level. After coming here for over 7 years. Only for me to say good bye to this place because of her petty drama.... honestly makes me sad. This place use to be 10/10 for me. The consistency, the good balance of the sauce. Everything was perfect. My crawfish go to. Now I am left with the impression she spitted in my food and added more chili oil. It just makes me so sad to see someone so unprofessional working there that would temper with a customer's food like this. There were OBVIOUS layer of red oil in a bag of mild crawfish that were NOT mild. For 14 dollar a lb. I am sad and disappointed that someone this immature is hired and staffed there that will temper with a customer's food. This is like a go to in the community of dfw. I love everything about this place except for the wait if you are dining in. I always get my food to go by calling ahead. I don't lose any flavor or quality by doing so. For me it's a must because I don't really care for eating in the restaurant.
