I love The Bower. I have been a few times and it is definitely time for a review. My latest trip was to try the coolinary menu paired with the wine tasting and it did not disappoint. This was my first time eating in the front dining area. It is very nice, modern, and sleek. The waitress came right over and was very friendly. EVERYTHING was scrumptious!!! The whipped feta is my favorite and my go to appetizer here. The confit chicken was so tender and cooked to perfection. The chocolate cake was the perfect ending to a super meal. The Bower is a newer restaurant on the New Orleans scene. With a weekday happy hour from 4 to 6 PM, we took advantage of a great opportunity to give them a whirl. We started with the Cheese Plate ($11 at happy hour) and the Charcuterie plate ($12 during happy hour). Both were imaginative and plentiful. Plus, the accompanying condiments and bread really made these plates robust and flavorful. Of note, the charcuterie plate included duck pate with dates as well as chicken pate with orange marmalade. These locally sourced ingredients really made the entire happy hour experience to be so so enjoyable. If you're in the area - either the Warehouse District, Lower Garden District, or in the CBD, stop by. The service is outstanding and their attention to detail in their craft cocktails and food offerings is self evident. I think aesthetically this place is beautiful but besides that the food is just average. The service was great and our server was very friendly. I came with a group and we got a cute little corner area by a window. It was restaurant week so I got to try 3 courses. I started with the whipped feta which was okay, i think it needed another element maybe either sweet or spicy. It was kind of bland to me. Then for my entree I did the scallops with no peas. The sauce is really flavorful and buttery but wasn't quite enough to fill me up. I tried my friend's truffled bread which was actually really good, it had the sweet and spicy element that I feel the feta could use. I also tried the basil spaghetti (light and fresh), chicken Parmesan which was pretty good, and paneer pork which was flavorless. Truly, I don't think my group could have experienced a better visit than at the bower. We were a bachelorette party who wanted to have one nice dinner outside of the French quarter so we could experience another area of New Orleans. You are able to reserve far in advanced through open table which is so convenient for planning. On arrival, we were greeted by such a kind staff, an ethereal ambiance, and a corner booth table that felt so private for our group. Learning that a portion of their staff was from our home city of Cleveland was one of the best parts. There is nothing like meeting people who make you feel like home when you're in a new city. And if you happen to be visiting from somewhere that isn't cleveland, I'm sure that they will make you feel just as special as they did to us. Beyond service; let's talk about the food! Whipped feta is a must, tuna tartare was incredible, and my crawfish conchiglie was possibly one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. I met up with a few friends on a recent Friday night for drinks and snacks in the lovely outdoor space that is used by the Bower, Claret and Birdy's. Claret has not yet reopened but my understanding is that it will reopen eventually. Drinks were lovely. HH prices were great! Snacks were tasty and varied. Service was very good. Ambiance is amazing as always. BUT whew when that sun was setting, I thought I was going to boil. And there was a guy at a nearby table in jeans and cowboy boots. I felt bad for him. I visited this place while out for a girls night and it was the worst dining experience ever. We initially decided to come for drinks at the bar but it was closed for a private event. As we were already here we decided to sit down to grab food and it was honestly the worst dining experience. From the moment we sat down the service was very subpar. The server was uninterested in serving us and not welcoming. In addition the service was very slow however we understood the private event may have been the cause of this. In any event, was hopeful for the food which also was very mediocre. The Caico y Pepe was delicious but the truffle flat bread and bowers potatoes were blah. We signed up to do the full 5 course Revellion dinner and arrived a little early. They asked us to return closer to our reservation time and we ended up grabbing a drink at the back bar. Our table ended up being ready and the bartender was kind enough to put our drinks on the same tab as our food. They also said they could accommodate us if we didn't all want to do the full experience even though that's what we ended up doing. The food by the way was fantastic. The Bower staff is great and the space is lovely but all of the food was strange. The whipped feta ($14) was so salty it was inedible. The scallops ($38) came with with so much sour cherry chutney you couldn't taste much else. The papparadelle bolognese ($28) was sweet and confusing with the aged balsamic. It did not scratch any bolognese or meat itch the patron may have anticipated. The bubble and squeak waffle ($18) was a standard waffle with good salmon but not memorable. Great wine and cocktails. Our server, Jill was terrific - giving us her recommendations and with a strong command of pairings. Me, my girlfriend and 2 other couples came for dinner for New Year's Eve and we were excited to try the menu. There was a set menu for NYE. It was terrible. Firstly, we received an oyster each that were not cut away from the shell. Also there were 6 oysters and they did not give us any plates... we ordered a total of 3 bottles of wine, which was nice, however our party was given wine glasses that still had stains on the glass and lipstick etc etc. The scallop crudo we ordered, the sauce was nice but the scallops were fishy and smelled fishy. The butternut squash bisque was actually spot on and really good. 5 of us ordered the filet and myself I ordered the salmon. The salmon was over cooked and the filets hit all range of temps, one person had well done and one person had blue raw, when they all ordered medium rare and the pasta that came with the steak was supposed to be Al dente, but was crunchy and still raw. Also, my girlfriend went to use her new fork for the steak and it was dirty. For dessert we had a a choice between a brownie with ice cream and banana custard and cookies. The brownie was over cooked and hard as a rock so were the cookies of the banana custard dish. The portion of ice cream was so small that it was probably less than a tbsp per dish. After the $1000 dinner for 6 people we all got sick probably from the scallops. I would not recommend. Overall we discussed this set menu and were excited to try it, however we were very disappointed. The service was probably 3 stars and the food was 1 star. read more

His pork osso Bucco is like a hug on a plate. My mom isn't even a good cook but it still felt like home. That was a plate licked clean!!!!!! Everything is so so delish. Let me start this review off by saying this has been a place I had on my list to visit for over 6 months now! On Wednesday December 18, 2024 between 5:30 and 6:30 my sister and I walked into the little courtyard and an employee was walking to the bar side it seemed and advised us to check in at the hostess stand. We stood there for a few minutes and no one ever came to greet us. Next thing we see is a Caucasian couple enter behind us and not even 30 seconds later someone walks up and say hi. The couple immediately says we have a reservation, and I replied excuse me, we were here first! NOAH decided to say oh I didn't know who was here first, yet he didn't ask. I decided to tell them we would leave. Of course it would never be stayed but I'm assuming because we were two African American ladies dressed in casual street attire is why we were treated the way we were! As a hotelier for over 16 years I will be sure to advise my guest and counterparts to never recommend this establishment! New Year's Eve dinner --not quite what we hoped for. The dinner was very mid. Amuse was delicious, the singular oyster was the best item of the night. Carpaccio and scallops were also good, but we could tell that we were going to leave the restaurant hungry. Soup was lukewarm and waiter didn't provide spoon for me but others at the table had them. Tortellini seemed undercooked. Steak was ~good~ but no steak knives provided. Salmon was ~good~ not much flavor. Servers never asked how the food was for us, during the entire course of the meal. Brownie and cookie from Costco desserts were underwhelming at best. It's the little things that make the price point worth it. I had previously visited this restaurant a few months back and my husband has not stopped talking about their bolognese sauce so I decided to go try it for myself. The restaurant is beautiful inside. The waiters/waitresses are amazing. The food is the best Italian food I have ever had. I tried the burrata and heirloom tomato salad which was absolutely amazing. I also tried the crab and corn pasta which was equally as good. Now the real treat was the pasta with bolognese sauce. All I can say is wow wow wow. The most delicious sauce I have ever tried. I asked to meet the chef and chef Marcus came to our table and was the kindest, warmest and welcoming person (chef) I have ever met. They have a full bar and the drinks are unique sn incredible. We first ordered our drinks and we were ready to order our small plate too, but she said "the kitchen likes when we order all the food at one time." Even though we wanted our appetizer to come out before the food, she said she'd come back to take all of our food order. For our drinks, we ordered the St. Charles Sour, which was the only good drink out of the three, Mood Ring and Kissed By a Rose, which were both extremely sweet, so we added an extra shot in it. We ordered the whipped feta but she didn't put it in so we received it after our large plates. The bread was cold and tasted like it had been left out and to be fair, the restaurant was about to close, but they could have put it in the oven for a couple minutes. The feta actually tasted okay, it was just not a taste we were expecting. At first it was sweet, then it was salty and it came with onions and pickles. The only way for the dish to taste good is to eat every part of it together. For the large plates, we ordered Basil Spaghetti, Pappardelle Bolognese, and Conchiglie. The Basil Spaghetti lacked flavor, the Pappardelle Bolognese was very sweet, and the Conchiglie was the only dish that we all liked. Listen... This was my first time eating at a restaurant in a year (Outdoors still) and talk about an experience.... The Bower is so chic and relaxing. It makes you feel elegant even if you have your basic clothes on. It's somewhere I feel Beyonce would enjoy a cocktail and that's honestly the only type of places I like to experience. The outdoor experience was impeccable. The turf flooring was so soft, it made me want to take my shoes off (I didn't however). The lighting and breeze just make it the perfect outdoor restaurant venue! Cocktails... The Paloma. This is the only place I will drink tequila, but it feels right to drink tequila here because it will come out all classy that even Diahann Carroll would approve of.
