Fantastic atmosphere! Celebrated my birthday here with friends!! made reservations and was seated right away upon arrival. Staff is very attentive and the service was excellent! Of course, the food was delicious! We had the tomato salad and bower potatoes for apps, both great. Everyone had something different as entrees with no complaints! Amazing place! The ambiance is so lush with a menu of cocktails to keep you there for hours. The olives I got on the happy hour menu were warm, buttery and perfectly flavored. My first cocktail was the "mood ring" which has vanilla bean flavored lemonade, vodka and butterfly pea flower. It's $7 on the happy hour menu. I also loved the 51 problems though: not on the happy hour menu but my favorite one there. Definitely come to chill with friends. Food was good like every time i've been. Unfortunately, I had to give a lower rating as our experience was spoiled by our waitress Cindy. This was the second time she was my waitress, and on both occasions I felt she was negative towards my party and I. Her response to was complaining about how much servers have to deal with. I've worked in the service industry, so I understand this scene is tough and I don't like to complain. However, I can perceive that this experience was true poor customer service. We stopped in because it was coolinary month and I am very impressed with the beauty of this place! It gave off vacation vibes with all of the plants everywhere. We ordered the verlasso salmon and the sugar roots eggplant for appetizers. The salmon was really tasty with bits of kimchi that added a very nice umami to the dish. It was very flavorful! The eggplant dish was really good, but honestly would have preferred it without the eggplant and instead a varietal of mushrooms. Broth on this dish was very good although they didn't serve it with a spoon and now I wish I would have asked for one. For our entrees we got the basil spaghetti. DO NOT PASS ON THIS DISH. It was so peppery, lemony, and the burrata on top added a creaminess to it. So good! We also got the crispy pork chop which was just okay in my opinion. Pork was too thin so it was mainly a Panko crusted batter with a really really good side salad on the plate. We had 2 rounds of cocktails and the service was great. Went here last night right before happy hour ended. Had a Paloma that didn't have much tequila but tasted fine. The whipped feta was extremely salty (I love salty) but the bread and pickled onions served with it were delicious. We split the bolognese and it was excellent! 10/10 would recommend. I wish that I had checked this place out sooner, really wonderful restaurant and dining experience. The restaurant design was well thought-out with attention to detail, every seat has a nice view. There are two front alcoves that can be curtained off that are perfect for a small party. They also have outdoor seating. There's some fun stuff on their happy hour menu- cheese plate comes with lots of nice extras like pickles and house-made jam, whipped feta, or cacio e pepe if you're a bit more hungry. Plus, a few of their cocktails are only $8. For dinner, I can say that the basil spaghetti and the grilled gulf fish were great- both were very simple and perfectly executed. I would also 100% come here just for drinks. The cocktail menu has some inventive options like the "chargarita" with a poblano tequila and smoked salt, and "inside voices" gin and earl grey combo. The service was wonderful, didn't feel rushed, they were very attentive even with it being a busy Friday night. read more

This place is gem. No wonder it is busy and thriving. The access is easy because of the paid public parking across the street. They have security in the front of the restaurant. The restaurant is airy, busy but not noisy (something I particularly like), and clean. The people are very friendly, prompt and polite. They are ready to serve you but not rushing you in and out. They do a great job accommodating your pace. They are excellent with large groups. All of the above would not matter if the food wasn't good. Yes, the food is excellent and very tasty. My principle for recommending a restaurant is if I recall what I ate there about a week or two later. So, the scallops were delicious. read more

Chef Marcus is amazing! We tried about half the menu and I would say that the Braised Pork Osso Busco was one of the best dishes I've had in a while. A very un-New Orleans place. Went there for a change and was not impressed. Lots of nice offerings. And I'm sure they were good. But I ordered the fish with brown butter and it was more like greasy fish with greasy sauce. I chalked it up to a bad one-off but ... I took home a strawberry shortcake desert which was more like scone. it was OK UNTIL I got to the bottom of the dough and found it to be an oily , rancid taste. That explained the fish issue. Tell the kitchen to change the oil and ease up on it use and learn how to make brown butter. Burned butter is not brown butter!!!!!!!!!!! We'll be back! We had a big lunch and weren't super hungry, but we had to check out The Bower. We had a 5:30 reservation and only ordered from the Happy Hour Menu, which was EXCELLENT. We would have ordered the same menu items had they not been Happy Hour items. We got the cauliflower and cabbage dish, whipped feta, cheese plate, 2 Old Fashioneds, and a rosé. Cauliflower was SO flavorful. The whipped feta was awesome, but a little salty for me. I don't think it was because they added salt, it was just because it was feta. If you like salt, you'll love it. We told the server what kind of cheese we typically like, and she gave great recommendations, which we loved. We will be back for dinner to try the rest of the menu the next time we're in New Orleans! And kudos to our server being knowledgeable of what was gluten free! read more

I came with a friend for dinner on a Saturday night and we had a great time. I don't normally prefer to sit outside, but the outdoor dining area was so welcoming and spacious. It is also dog-friendly! To start, I ordered the Chargarita cocktail while my friend had the Inside Voices. I loved the spice of the poblano tequila they used. We opted for the Coolinary menu. We shared the Octopus and Whipped Feta. The octopus was tasty, but a bit too charred. However, the whipped feta was delicious and comes with plenty of toast points to eat with. I also had the Red Pepper Spaghetti, which was delicious and came topped with burrata. My friend also really enjoyed the Paneed Pork Loin that she ordered. For dessert, I had the Salted Caramel Budino, which was my favorite course of the three. As someone who doesn't usually order dessert, this tasted amazing! It reminded me of caramel brûlée almost. My friend ordered the Flourless Chocolate Torte, which came with fresh whipped cream and a strawberry syrup on top. It did have nuts in the crust, in case anyone is allergic. Our server was extremely attentive and friendly throughout our entire visit, answering any questions we had about the menu. This place is really so cute! I love love love the ambiance just the whole vibe in general. They also play some really good mixed music too. You can sit in the restaurant part, the bar, or outside. We decided to sit at the bar and then moved our way to the outdoor area because the weather was nice. The drinks were cute and they were really good! We initially ordered the charcuterie board from the happy hour menu, but it wasn't really agreeing with our taste buds. Our bartender/server was soooo nice he told us he did not want us to force ourselves to eat something we did not like, so he took it back and offered to get another menu item. We decided to order the pork loin. The pork loin was delicious. The greens that were included looked a little questionable, but after tasting, it was addicting! Went last night for date night and had so much fun. They blast the music loud and the lights are low, though could be even darker for us! Fun, cool vibe and perfect service with Erica. We started with a few great cocktails: 51 problems (lightly smoky beet-infused mezcal with a salted rim, which I loved way more than any sugar rim) and Rosemary's baby (light refreshing citrusy whiskey drink with rosemary syrup). We then got a few glasses of wine and a hug charcuterie board. It was $48 for 5 meats and 5 cheeses, which I will say is definitely on the pricier side, but some of the things are definitely items you can't get anywhere else-like the N'duja spreadable salami and the whipped duck leg and date rillettes (kind of tasted like a rich pulled pork that had been out in a food processor with yummy spices)-both were surprisingly delicious. They brought a big plate of warm bite-sized toasty bread slices, as well as pickled accoutrements and spreads to go with the meats and cheeses. We asked for extra bread because we ran outdo they brought us a second serving at no extra cost. Overall, a splurge for what we got but we felt it was worth it and had a great time! read more

We are New Orleans "locals" but this was our first visit to The Bower. First of all, it's in a location that is somewhat easier to find nearby parking (on-street and paid lot) compared to some other Magazine Street restaurants. Upon entering, we were impressed with the design and decor. It mimics a 19th-century garden "bower" with an assortment of live plants hanging from an overhead trellis and a very calming vibe. We had various selections from their Coolinary menu. Everything was excellent. High-quality ingredients, well prepared and attractively plated with well-paced service. The excellent kitchen staff really appreciated our compliments on their talents, which were much deserved. By the way, this place is huge. It has ample indoor and outdoor seating, 2 bars, and can accommodate even large parties. It is also attached to a separate "cozier" space, Birdy's Behind the Bower (same owner), which hosts a daily brunch (which we will be trying soon). Overall, this was an excellent, very enjoyable dining experience, notable for friendly staff, pleasant decor, and truly excellent food! read more

The area even has curtains you could close I assume if you wanted. The inside is super cute and a totallllllll vibe. Greenery hanging everywhere, ambient lighting- just a total great vibe. I'd recommend this place for a girls night, group of friends, date night, essentially anything. Definitely call and make a reservation, it is a smaller place. The food we had was awesome! I loved absolutely everything except the tuna small plate, that one was mehhh. But everything else- omg absolutely delicious! As we entered the restaurant and sat down we loved the atmosphere and the decor. It even smelled nice. Beautiful. The menu excited the 4 us and as there were only a couple of things we wouldn't eat we ordered the tasting menu. That's where it all changed. It was a disappointment...first was turtle soup where 2 of us had cold soup. Mine wasn't even luke warm. The other 2 said there was warm but not hot. Next up was the tuna appetizer which was lovely and we all agreed we would order again. The only food positive of the night. Then was the short ribs. It was starting to feel like they simply chose dishes that weren't selling well that evening versus dishes that would showcase the restaurant. It was lackluster at best. It was over salted and not pleasing to the pallet at all. 3/4 did not eat half of it. And finally the dessert! I love dessert, all desserts but this was horrible. None of us ate more than a bite. The olive oil cake was dry with a drier pistachio on top and a sauce that left a lingering bad taste in your mouth. It resulted in a trip elsewhere for dessert. Perhaps there are some great dishes but we didn't have the opportunity to experience them.
