I was so excited to finally have a chance to try The Brick House. We are locals and had heard great things about their food so we stopped in on a recent Thursday night. The wait was just a few minutes as all the tables were full, which is always a good sign. Our server was great and took good care of us. We ordered the Buffalo chicken dip, my husband had a roast beef sandwich and I had the smash burger. The turnaround time for the food was a little long... his sandwich was good and my burger felt average. The burger sauce that came with was good... and I liked that the most out of the entire meal. If you are gluten free, there aren't a ton of options for your meal. They do offer gluten free buns... but we all know how those go. All in all decent place to eat... a little pricey.. but relatively generous portions. We might try there again in the off season. read more

Found this place thanks to Yelp, and overall service was good, food was tasty and I enjoyed the vibe. I only have three items that I feel they could improve upon: 1) their old fashioned is HIGHLY overpriced. It tastes great, but for $16 it better be strongly poured. I'm from Chicago and rarely pay $16 for those there, but when I do, they're def worth it. 2) Hummus portion size should be increased by 50%. It's hummus and veggies, don't be stingy. 3) The kid's ice cream for $6 is ridiculous. It was a scoop of ice cream and sprinkles, seriously! Other than that, the hamburger and fries were great. The vodka soda my wife ordered was good and reasonably priced. Kid's grilled cheese was $8, but my kid liked it. Yes, I will go again, but def not ordering the Old Fashioned or the kid's ice cream again...fool me once. read more

We literally got here 30 minutes before they closed.. the bartender informed us that the kitchen was closed...we were so understanding about it and were ready to head back out. She then asked us to wait and see if she can get the cook to take one last order...and they did! Best Smash Burger we've had in the Midwest! I had actually tried their olive burger at one of the brewery festivals and ever since then drooled thinking about it until this day. We later realized it wasn't the olive version as we quickly accepted whatever burger was on the menu that day. One and done. First time ordering a carry out and they got my order wrong. I was supposed to get a refund for the missing items and it was never credited to my card. Checking the orders is not a bonus. It is the job. If you have time to take your money, you have time to make sure the items ordered are in the bag. It is theft otherwise and it is even worse when there are only a few items ordered. If your staff is accepting tips for carry out orders, what do you think the tip is for? It is for them checking the order. Also, the person answering the phone needs to make sure they know how to use the mute button on the phone. It is ok to be flustered or to not know what to do, but mute the phone while you talk to your manager. read more

Had dinner with friends for the first time this weekend and The Brick House; which was new for all of us. It was unanimously a great choice! I stoped here on my way to Saugatuck. The food was delicious. The kids loved it as well. The service was great, all the employees we very nice. I loved the menu item names as well. Such as "Explosion" and "SOMEBODY GET ME A DOCTOR." The kids menu was just as good. "I DON'T KNOW," "I'M NOT HUNGRY," and "I WANT THAT." (For the Ice Cream.) Great ambiance. As the name suggests, there are brick plastered all over. And it has a very cozy atmosphere. It's in that part of Benton Harbor that is in between the dinky and the downtown. Fair prices as well. Had a craving for a good burger and wanted to try the "smash" burger. As you walk into this establishment, you notice the exposed brick walls and the overall nice decor. The menu has some interesting offerings and I'm certain to return to try some of them. My burger was exactly as advertised smashed, sticking out about an inch from the wonderful brioche bun. Quite tasty! My wife ordered a beef sandwich with peppers, and aux juice which she thoroughly enjoyed. The fries were also a big hit. Even though it was hot outside, I tried the red pepper soup. Hubbs and I were delighted to stumble across this place that has been right under our noses, apparently for weeks already. On a rainy Monday evening, the place was filling up, but our fears of waiting forever were unfounded. Although a table of ten that was seated after us had their orders taken ahead of us (my hunger after failed attempts at other closed establishments heightened my awareness of justice), our food actually came out ahead of theirs, which was gratifying. Clean, well-lighted (not too harsh), fun decor, including a splashy painting of a cow's face on the wall next to our corner low top and the word, eat, spelled out on the wall in same corner, beautiful new wood floors, with various woods staggered for a truly stunning look. Fun menu of smashburgers and innovative sandwiches that I cannot wait to further explore. Our waitress was pushing soups a bit, which we didn't try, but I'm sure as the weather continues to slide into damp and crisp to cold, the soups will be an awesome choice. Great list of apps, too. Drink prices seem a bit salty, but food prices in line with reality. Quality of food very good. Hubbs and I each had the Rocket smashburger (clever to use nickname for arugula), which had caramelized red onion, provolone, house horseradish sauce and arugula on a nice soft bun.
