Yes, this place was good. I think it would have been better had we picked something else to eat though. We did not realize you can get half servings and we needed to do that. Wow...no kidding the portions are almost overwhelming but very good. Surprised it had 2 floors and we ate upstairs with natural lighting and windows. The staff were all very nice and the cornbread was off the hook. I had the Cowboy Omelet and had to pack half of it to go home. You have to search this place out, but it's worth the hunt. I'm an enthusiastic fan of The Buttered Biscuit. They have a "Paula Deen" approach to cooking: Decadent ingredients and enormous portions. You can't go wrong with their featured, "classic" menu items (chicken-fried steak, omelettes, meatloaf, biscuits & gravy, burgers etc.). However, be wary, their menu suffers from being too expansive and not "acing" every dish (their Breakfast Burrito should be avoided). I feel they'd be better off sticking to what they're great at. The service is very friendly, and the owner takes great pride in her business. On my last visit I ate Fettucini Alfredo with fried shrimp on top. Before I was finished with my dinner the owner came out and offered me four more pieces of shrimp (including a side of cocktail sauce), that would otherwise have been tossed. It was a nice touch. We came around noon on a saturday. Wait wasnt too long. We ordered the gary perhson half order, the monte cristo, the cinnamon roll french toast, and a salad that was on special. The service was not existent. We had to waive people down to fill our coffee. The salad had bately any dressing, and we had to ask the busser to get more dressing. He had to go down and up 3 times to get the right dressing. Then the waiter finally should up. The monte was cold to touch. Not sure if that is how they serve it, but if so, its not good. The gary person half order is HUGE. One of the patties was burnt on both sides, and the egg was over cooked. The gravy was good as was the other patty and the biscuits were great! I really want to give it more stars because the owner is totally worth it! The food portions are huge but not very good quality. My husband and I both asked for no onions in our meals especially because I'm pregnant and it really makes me sick but they gave us extra onions instead.... we didn't even get to leave the restaurant without me belching out what I just ate. The wait was a little inconvenient especially because of COVID but it seems the lady seating customers was the same lady waiting on them too. She seemed a little fussy with us when we asked for our drinks and a pie to hold us over until she was ready to take our orders. We had to wait about 30 minutes before we got our drinks and almost 45 minutes before we got our pie. It was well over an hour before we got our meals. The slice of Oreo pie, I will def call and do a pick up order for, but the rest of the food... it's a no from me. Again the food blows me away. Freaking fantastic in all the important ways. Taste, portion, portions and taste! The ambiance is great. There is an upstairs and downstairs dining area to handle the crowds. The tables are big to feed a real family, not some kind of papa smurf clan that doesn't need elbow room. It feels open and yet cozy somehow and best of all they play their music at the right volume! It is called background music for a reason all you other volume control Tards that can't seem to figure that out. Can't wait to go back next time I'm in the neighborhood. read more

My experience at The Buttered Biscuit was fantastic! Everyone's tastes and opinions are different, but my experience was far from the negative reviews I read before coming here. The BB staff is awesome and the food is better! I had five different staff engage me even with a full dining room with diners waiting. They were friendly, professional and very attentive. But, ah, the food. TERRIFIC! I had the SOS; rich, creamy and flavorful. I was told some patrons order just the gravy and eat it like soup. I understand why! The spuds are equally as good. VERY good! I left FULL with nearly half of the biscuits and gravy. Wanting something sweet to finish the meal, I walked out with a plate-sized cinnamon roll. :-) An all-around great experience! I had two different experiences here, the first was great and the second not so great. The first deserves 5 stars solely based on their customer service and corn bread! We came with a big group including a couple kids. Before our food came, one of the kids puked. The staff was so accommodating. They packed up our food to go, they weren't rude, grossed out. They were helpful and kind especially on a busy Saturday. The second experience was also a Saturday, but a little later in the day - but definitely still open. It wasn't super busy, but there were several people dining. It took them FOREVER to acknowledge us and take our order. After they took our order my friend went to the bathroom (where the door is propped open and right next to people eating) and I got on my phone as I was now alone. A bus boy came to my table and started clearing our bread and condiments. Then he looked at me and said "sorry I didn't see you" as he started putting everything back on the table....just weird. The food that day (including the corn bread) was so-so and the customer service was sub par. I'm sure it was just an off day but I likely won't be back. read more

I am into supporting small local businesses that is what drew me in- went by to see who was occupying this space and picked up Yelp and thought- let's make this happen. Working interferes with visiting some establishments. My sister and mom are from the East Coast and I thought this would be a good time. Plates we ordered were beautiful food great - I ordered the loaded potato bowl with two eggs - good and hot Also ordered all things breakfast burger - had a bite. A group of 6 of us went to BB for lunch today at 1:30ish. Waited outside to be seated for a few minutes, then we were seated and left breakfast menus. When asked for a lunch menu the waiter said they were only serving breakfast today because yesterday was a holy day. Kidding right? Nope. What does that have to do with lunch? And why would breakfast be okay but not lunch. Maybe a sign of the door would've been helpful for letting us know before making us wait outside for a table would've been courteous. Maybe it was an off day... Ambiance - so it's kinda like a basement like place. It's dark. Food - uhh how do I put it. Fish and chips was lack luster. The batter was interesting. Imagine putting oatmeal on your batter and deep frying it. Also, it needed serious seasoning. The SOS - well the gravy was OK the biscuits...was OK. nothing big. This place is similar to a 3rd world country dining experience. We are a family of 5 (young kids) so we pay attention to things like food on the floor, dead bugs on glasses, and if there's soap in the bathrooms. Call us crazy. First time experience at Buttered Biscuit and heard great things, however it was one of the worst dives ever. We walked in and waited on the couch. Then, they brought us up this nasty stairway to the second floor. We walked through a cloud of flies to a table with food still on the table cloth. My wife grabbed a high chair and was wiping it down. From across the room and bringing one of my kids to the bathroom to wash hands I could see the food coming off the high chair. Nasty. In the bathroom was a giant bottle of Dial soap (a refill size) for people to squeeze/pour an industrial size soap puddle in their hands. No hot water. And NO PAPER TOWELS! Disgusting. Not cozy unless you're comparing it to sitting outside on a pile of rocks in a stream bed. Other reviews state "tucked away"...no, it's more like in an annoying cluster of a parking situation and basement feel. Do not eat here. read more

Best chicken fried steak. Hands down. The service was amazing, my mason jar water class was never empty. Sweetest waitresses!! The cornbread slice was a heavenly appetizer (it came free! YUM!) For my main course I had the chicken fried steak and my boyfriend had the s.o.s (biscuits and gravy). We called this establishment asking about the two Groupon deals. It said "2 entrees for $20", the other "4 entrees for $40". When we spoke with the employee, she stated that you get $40 off for up to 4 people for the $40 one. I asked if there were any special menus...the answer was no. We were in a bad service area and couldn't fully read the Groupon, so we bought then and there. We had 2 adults, 2 kids. When we went to redeem, they said we couldn't because only 2 adults...I explained our phone call and the manager and waitress would still not honor it. I ended up, while in the restaurant, having to go through the cancellation process and this place cost us more than we budgeted because they did not honor their own word. Unfortunately, even though the food was good (hence the extra star) we won't be back. They should have made things right and valued their customers over the mighty dollar that they lost. They ultimately didn't care if we'd be back, which is an extremely bad business model. read more

Today was my first time at this location. Visiting from California. This place was on my bucket list. I do have to say however, I will not return which is a bummer. Reasons for my 2 star rating - 1) I had to ask for napkins twice. 2) Our bill was all sorts of wrong. Had to adjust it at the cash counter. 3) A waitress - who wasn't even our original waitress - came to ask how the bills were going to be split. The way I was treated after posting my initial review about being sick has won me over enough to give this place another chance! Like I said in my initial review, the food is amazing; amazing is an understatement actually. However, this last go around just happened to make the people in my group sick; unfortunately for me I had a fair to take the kids to the next day. When seeing my review a manager reached out to me and asked is their any way they can make it right (apparently they do this for all yelpers who have had a *displeasing experience). The manager gave me the options of a refund or a replacement meal. They refunded my money and the manager personally talked with me about what happened and how to make any future experiences go better. As a Yelper just like the rest of you astute and truly brilliant people, many of us know all too well that many restaurateurs just do not care. Well not this restaurant, they care a lot! read more

The restaurant has a rustic feel to it as you come in. we sat where we wanted. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. The food was ok, they give you a lot of it that is for sure. It all was good but not great. I guess you could call it home cooking. The steak was a bit overcooked and although it was a breakfast steak not the best one i have eaten. Went for breakfast yesterday morning, not busy, so order was taken quickly and food took a tad bit longer than expected, but no big deal. Ordered Triple Berry Crepes. Looked great on the plate. Picked up my fork to dig in, no need for a knife. As I brought the food to my mouth, the crepe shifted slightly and a piece of strawberry was exposed,, did my usual heat test, crepe was just warm, opened my mouth to pop it in...? OMG!!! The fruit touched the inside right corner of my lips as it bumped in and SCALDED both my lip and tongue as I pushed it aside and quickly swallowed without chewing it to get it out of my mouth, grabbed the ice water, took a big gulp, then took another to fill up my mouth and tipped my head forward to get the burning sensation to calm down, swallowed that after about 15 seconds. Grabbed my napking to hold an ice cube and rubbed it up and down the inside n outside edge of my lip n tongue to help too. HOW did that fruit get SO DAMN HOT? Never EVER has fruit in a crepe been more than just "warm" for me. I've given my kids my first bite after temp testing...SO GLAD it wasn't a child given that food. Went to grab the plate w my left hand? The BOTTOM of it was so hot I quickly released it and shoved it to the aisle edge of the table. The waitress was at another table and waved her down, to explain what had happened. She asked if I wanted another made...the look I gave her probably wasn't nice, but I couldn't eat anything more, a few blisters were forming and I just wasn't hungry any longer. I sat there icing while my table finished eating. 15 min later, just for fun, I picked up the plate with the food on it and it was STILL heated, but touchable. I couldn't believe it. HOW does a dish like that, AND that plate, get THAT hot if the crepe itself was barely warm at checking it? The rest of the day? I couldn't use utensils to eat, could only put food in my mouth w my fingers cuz had to push it in through the left side to avoid stretching or bumping my right lip area. This morning, the blisters are raised and the inside and part of the edge outside are really sore...so I posted this. NEVER will I EVER go back to this restaurant. No desire to support it in any way. The waitress apologized when she brought back the check and let me know my food was removed from the bill. Asked me if I wanted a box to go that I emphatically but politely refused. She said she had informed the kitchen to "watch that the rest of the day" and she would, too. I'm sure the look I gave her spoke volumes, when I said, That's something needed to be watched ALWAYS... that was absolutely ridiculous. I know it wasn't her fault, didn't blame her. She felt bad. Originally I was walked to a table that was still dirty and asked to wait while the the hostess went to find a rag. She then half wiped the table and got half of the crumbs on the chair she pulled out for me. I ordered a biscuit and gravy along with 1 egg cooked over easy. The waitress did not come by until 5 minutes of me sitting with a biscuit and a Scrambled egg with cheese.
