The food is very good, so good that they sent the wrong steak to my brother and when they offered to replace it, he was content and they gave us a complimentary dessert. Everything was delicious and the cheesecake was airy and smooth and wonderful. I got the steak with au poivre sauce and it was full of flavor and peppery bite on top of a tender and perfect medium rare steak. Capital Grill has a fantastic bar and cocktail selections as well as an impressive wine list. The menu is awesome - a wide selection of raw bar, seafood towers, amazing appetizers, meats and side dishes. We came with an old friend and enjoyed several perfectly made Martini's, shared several appetizers, a seafood tower, a crab cake, a steak au'pouvre and sides. Came for restaurant week a few weeks ago after wanting to try this spot for so long. They also had the generous pour deal going on at the same time which allowed us to try about 7 wines. I was a little disappointed by the generous pour experience. The table next to us kept getting refills and I thought we'd get refills but our waiter didn't indicate this at all. TikTok also made this seem like the case but maybe we just weren't as lucky. Overall, the wine service from our waiter was a little slow as well so it was even more discouraging seeing the table next to us get better service and really get their generous pour offering while we didn't. The wine was good so I would have liked a little more. As for the food, everything was delicious. You do get a bread basket to start and we opted for the wedge salads. I love blue cheese so this was great. I got the chopped filet mignon with mushrooms and it was amazing and cooked perfectly. So juicy and tender. My boyfriend got the NY strip which was excellent. The sides were mashed potatoes and creamed spinach and I think the spinach was my favorite - so good. Dessert I got the flourless espresso chocolate cake and loved it. The cheesecake was also pretty good but I'm not a huge fan of cheesecake. I did order a cup of decaf and this was great coffee, definitely recommend getting some with dessert. Overall, definitely go for the steak. Other service was pretty good aside from the wine experience but the waiter did try to take my salad plate when I was still eating with some on my plate which was awkward. Normally I would give 10 stars to my visit and service at Capital Grille Tysons. But, this time I can only give 1 star because of my server Lourdes. This is said because I ordered a steak, I asked my steak to be cooked well done. In the 9 years I have been a patron at Capital Grille I have ordered my steak well done and those previous steaks have been perfectly well done, juicy, tender, and flavorful. But on this Valentine's Day 2026 after Lourdes frowned and said no it will be dry. I told her that had never been my experience at Capital Grille Tysons. So, when my entre was delivered it was burnt, it was burnt to the point that I could scrape the brunt off of the steak, it looked like the chef and Lourdes had conspired to make my meal horrible. read more

Celebrated my birthday here for lunch. My friend called ahead to make a reservation, and said the occasion was to celebrate a birthday. Upon arrival, the host led me and my friend to a booth seat with confetti on the table and a birthday card! The grapefruit soda is made in house and is really good! There are no free refills, though, so I was charged for e glasses! Lol I had the ribeye steak with truffle fries, which was really good. And it was very reasonably priced too! We also ended up parking at the Tysons parking garage for free and just walked over there. No one cleared our plates and we had to wait for our check for what seemed like a half hour and I had to ask another waiter to bring our check and take my credit card. Our waiter finally returned and said goodbye. It's was a very expensive meal for food that was sub par and average service. We went here for our super late Valentine's Day dinner! The valet and our server were extremely sweet. We were taken into the back room where we were seated distantly from other parties. The tables all had a hand sanitizer on it for your own use. The waiter we had was extremely energetic and kind and gave us the best recommendations. With reservations, we were seated right away--there weren't many people here on a Tuesday night. Service overall was good, and all staff were wearing masks. For appetizer, we ordered the Pan-Fried Calamari and Wedge Salad. The calamari was not seasoned well or crispy enough for my liking, and it did not come with any sauce (only a lemon wedge) so I had to ask for marinara sauce. The wedge salad was good but it was loaded with too much dressing that my lettuce was drenched with it. For entrees, both our steak dishes were delicious--ordered off the Chef's Suggestions" section: Porcini Rubbed Bone-in Ribeye and the Seared Tenderloin with Butter Poached Lobster Tails. The meats were tender and well flavored--and cooked just right! For the side dish, we shared the Roasted Brussels Sprouts--I was not a fan of this, the sauce added in it was way too sweet. read more

My 2023 birthday dinner at The Capital Grille, Fair Lakes Promenade in Fairfax, VA was, hands down, the BEST restaurant my husband has ever taken me in the DMV! Totally ranks HIGH on my list ... I'll say it was even better than Hell's Kitchen in Vegas! The food was delicious. My seared tuna and his lamb chops were excellently seasoned. The chefs clearly pay attention to detail and take pride in the art of presentation. Just like others have mentioned, the table was decorated in honor of my birthday ... I even got a card. The entire restaurant is gorgeous and clean ... even the little lamp on our table was shining bright and dust-free! Our servers stayed attentive ... we definitely felt the love. Talk about a five star experience!!! They had me at complimentary valet. My party of five was greeted promptly upon entry and was lucky to have Kanita as our server. Around of Bohemian cocktails kicked off our Sunday brunch followed by a smorgasbord of tasty bites. I had the lobster Mac-n-cheese with the jumbo lump crab cocktail and a side of grilled asparagus AND coconut cream pie for dessert. The lobster Mac was more saucy than cheesy, but tasty down to the last bite. The jumbo lump crab is LEGIT all crab no filler and of course you can never go wrong with asparagus. The coconut cream pie took me by surprise. I'm not a huge fan of coconuts, but it was highly recommended, so we gave it a try. The cookie, coconut cream and cake hit every note, not too sweet and not too nutty :-) Overall a 5 star experience ideal for a first date, brunch or family dinner. read more

Wednesday, May 24th was my family's first time back at Capitol Grille post-Covid. The valet was great, but once the four of us were seated and were greeted by our waiter, things began immediately going downhill. Before Covid, going to Capital Grille for dinner was a fancy event to look forward to, but our recent visit was disappointing. Our waiter was rude and uninterested in providing our table service. When we would ask for a drink, he merely pushed the iPad that housed the drink menu in our direction, without providing any sort of guidance or explanation; not to mention, the table is already filled with plates and glasses, and there's not much room left to juggle an iPad. Our server greeted us curtly and hastily took down our drink orders and then our entrees. Being that we were celebrating our mom's birthday that day, there was no personable or friendly/warm service given. The waiter clearly wanted to finish up with us and leave. We noted that the quality of the food has also gone really downhill as well. The steaks and chicken dishes are tiny, and have lost the touch and attention that Capital Grille used to have. Better quality meat can be found at stores such as Wegmans or Trader Joe's, and for a fraction of the hideously inflated prices the restaurant charges. Although my family has had many great memories at Capital Grille, we've made the decision to not return any time soon...at least not until the restaurant returns to the quality food and quality service that it had been renowned for all these previous years. read more

After going to Randy's down the street someone mentioned, I have to try out Capital Grille because they have similar menu items like the Lobster Crab-cakes, Lobster Bisque and the Best steak in the Tyson Corner area. Not to include an awesome lunch menu. Where do I begin? I came in for lunch yesterday. The menu has 2 items for only $22. You can pick the clam chowder (which is divine, I highly approve) OR Salad and pair with with either a Chicken Sandwich, Hamburger or Salmon. If that doesn't push your Pallet there's another selection of a Filet Mignon with a choice of delicious mashed potatoes, green beans or truffle fries. Last but not least there's a large juicy hamburger with fries and a glass of wine on the lunch menu for $25. The food here is beyond delicious. I highly suggest this location over Randy's down the street. White bartender is a POS period, next the valet was rude and racist I stood there forever while they helped people and I asked about mine and they said they didn't know I was "here for that". Then couldn't find my keys and I spotted them and then I was asked umm did you pay. I said I had an online order and showed it and they said oh whoops mistake.
