Disappointing Experience with the Final Bill We had a great time at Ruth's Chris overall and really enjoyed the food and the service throughout the evening. Unfortunately, the way our final bill was handled significantly impacted our experience. When reviewing the bill, I noticed that we had been charged for champagne that the restaurant had provided to us complimentary. I brought this to the waiter's attention, and that charge was removed. However, after the bill had already been paid, we discovered that we had also been charged for three entrees that were already included as part of our pre-fixe meal. This was very disappointing. We had a large dinner party, and the waiter received a $300 tip, so I would have expected the bill to be carefully reviewed before it was presented to us to ensure that we were being charged correctly. Having to identify multiple incorrect charges ourselves made us question whether the bill was being thoroughly reviewed before being given to the customer. After dinner, I emailed the restaurant regarding the additional overcharges and never received a response. I called the following day and spoke with a manager, who stated that she planned to refund the money. However, I still have not received written confirmation of the refund or an apology for the billing errors. The food and service were good, but billing accuracy and customer follow-up are also an important part of the dining experience, especially for a large and expensive dinner. I hope the restaurant addresses this situation and improves its billing and follow-up process so other customers do not have a similar experience. read more

We dine at Ruth's Chris often, and it always fire. We had my partner's birthday dinner here and it was amazing. We had the ribeye, au gratin potatoes, and asparagus, and every bite was perfect. The steak was cooked just right--tender, flavorful, and always high quality. Beyond the food, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the warm, upscale ambience made the night even better. We visited Ruth's Chris at the Tyson's Corner location for Valentine's Day at 5:30 PM on a Monday and unfortunately the experience fell far below expectations -- especially given how empty the restaurant was. We love Ruth's Chris and dine at the Washington, DC locations often, which made this first visit to the Tyson's Corner location particularly disappointing. We were seated at the bar and waited 10-15 minutes before the bartender, Carly, acknowledged us and brought our drinks. It then took about 20 minutes to receive bread, and our appetizer didn't arrive until right before our entrées. To make matters worse, the food runner initially delivered our appetizer to the wrong table before eventually bringing it to us. We were also never provided plates or silverware and had to retrieve them ourselves from a nearby table. As the evening continued, we noticed other patrons doing the same and grabbing their own silverware from nearby tables. The bartender appeared overwhelmed even though the restaurant was not busy, and another patron at the bar shared that she disliked her drink and that she and her husband also had to get their own silverware. When we were finally given the bill, we placed our credit card in the folio and waited approximately 12 minutes while Carly stood directly in front of us without acknowledging that we were trying to pay and leave. When a restaurant is quiet with only five patrons during happy hour, you expect service to feel attentive and relaxed -- not slow and disorganized. At a premium Tyson's Corner location, expectations are understandably even higher. Valentine's Day is a special occasion, and this visit felt anything but special. We've always associated Ruth's Chris with a polished, high-quality dining experience, so this was especially disappointing. I visited this location for Father's Day and ordered a Ribeye steak, which was completely spoiled. When I alerted management, the experience got even worse. The manager on duty had a severe communication barrier, making it very difficult to understand her. Instead of immediately replacing my meal with the Ribeye I ordered, she insulted me by offering a cheaper, lower-grade cut of steak as a replacement. Serving spoiled food is a major health hazard, and handling it with such poor service and cheap fixes is entirely unacceptable for a premium steakhouse. read more

As expected with a high end steakhouse, this Ruth Chris location in Tyson's Corner blows the competition out of the water. Well I should say land and sea but I've been trying my best to refrain from dad jokes in my reviews. I ordered the lobster bisque, lobster tail, and large filet. The bisque was served at a great temperature and the lobster butter served with my tail was delectable. Everything in all tasted delicious and I was pleased with the quickness and hospitality I received when I unfortunately had to send my steak back for being a tad undercooked. The manager stopped by after it was returned to me as a courtesy to guarantee my satisfaction and thus turning a potentially devastating event to a maximum dining pleasure that is the Ruth Chris experience. The restaurant was very clean & modernized, and I appreciated the fact that I could never find a single piece of trash when walking through out the establishment. We tried a wide variety of appetizers and mains, including the bbq shrimp and calamari for starters, and everyone's entree steaks were cooked to perfection. The dinner was a private event and they had a few servers serving two private parties. But they will on top of everything from the drinks to the order of every appetizer and entree. Every dish was a signature of why Ruth Chris is so good. From the fresh seared ahi tuna, to their steak house salad, to the tender and juicy filet cooked perfectly medium that came with a buttery lobster tail that was cooked perfectly on a hot sizzling plate, to their creamy mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. It was a fantastic meal and the service put it over the top. The location of this Ruth Chris is odd. It should join 'The Capital Grille' near the mall or the many other restaurants at Tyson's Galleria. Parking around the restaurant is limited but thank goodness for the garage in the back. read more

Drinks and service were on point, food not so much. We ordered the ravioli appetizer. It came out cold and had to be sent back. When it came back out it was the same plate just reheated. Whatevs. I will say they were delicious. Second time we visited we figured the first experience was a one off and decided to give it another shot. This time we ordered a filet with a side of creamed spinach and fries. What a mess this was. We ordered a medium filet that came out well done. When we sent it back, the kitchen sent it back out with the waitress to try to justify a well done steaks on the outside but med on the inside. What??? Absolutely unacceptable in my book. New steak came out that was supposed to be medium. Still not what we expected. The manager and waitress were super apologetic and made the experience as accommodating as they possibly could. My daughter took me to Ruth's Chris for Mother's Day (5/11). The service was good but the more and more that I look at my leftovers and try to eat the filet, I really think I was eating a chuck/pot roast. Surely tastes like it (dry). There was no flavor during the meal and not when eating my leftovers after the flavors settled overnight. Had to ask and add Heinz 57. If this isn't a chuck/pot roast then it is definitely a low grade filet mignon. For what we paid, I am very dissatisfied. The food took so long to come out because there was a back up in the kitchen per the waitress so we took a couple of bites and asked for a to go container. Because of the OUTSTANDING SERVICE for a party we held five years ago, we decided to return to Ruth's Chris Steak House in McLean, VA, to celebrate our mom's 95th Birthday with our family. The event was wonderful, with Thomas and Patrick overseeing our party. Meg, Chang, and Tina were our servers for the evening, and they went above and beyond, handling our bar service, and meal from appetizers (delicious shrimp cocktail), choice of entrees, and dessert, along with serving the birthday cake! We had four children in attendance, and Meg saw to it that they were served in timely fashion, and happy with their selections! The waiter never came by again to see if I wanted anything else I had to get up from our table to place a take out order. I did order two sandwiches to take home. Arrived early for 7pm reservations, and we had to wait. People who came after us were seated before us, rather confused about this, but ok, no big deal. We get seated, the seats are busted, and raggedy as heck. I was ready to leave, considering this is an upscale or fine dining establishment, and the attention to detail was truly missed with the decor and seating. The booth had wallpaper peeling from the walls. I personally was OVER it. This is a $$$ dining establishment. The waitress was decent, but she could have selected somewhere else for us to be seated. Let's move along, wine selection, babe enjoys red dry wine, when asked about the wine, there was no assistance, and she offered a red that wasn't dry but more of a desert wine. He didn't like it, but she did replace it and offered tastings before he purchased the glass. He ordered the Tomahawk Bone in steak, which was a large steak served on a hot plate. The staff cut it off the bone and cut it up to enjoy. He didn't finish it...smh! Oh, that plate was said to be extremely hot, still 500 degrees when it arrived at our table. I had the salmon, and it was a BBq style sauce, I do not recommend. There was a tangy butter garlic sauce the greens were cooked in, I moved my salmon to a clean plate to not have the sauce at all. My hubby and I went here to celebrate our 3 year anniversary! We requested our reservation online and mentioned the special occasion. At the time of our reservation, they nicely presented with us with a "Happy Anniversary" print out on the table and a rose. So cute! The food, of course was yummy. I'm surprised by how full we felt considering the amount we ordered didn't seem too much. My Steak and Shrimp were cooked a little more than I had asked. I ordered my steak medium rare, but came out a little over-medium. Still good, but not exactly what I had asked. My husbands fish with cheese crumble on top was great. I'm glad he decided to order the cheese crumble topping because without it, I feel his fish may have been a little boring. Okay, so it wasn't a perfect experience this time, but it was still delicious. Ruth Chris is my husband and my gold standard for traditional steakhouses. They have what I want in a steakhouse, the dark, "masculine" decor, wine bottles on display all around, and large seating areas set in an elegant manner. But what brings us back is the filet mignon. Comes out sizzling and buttery on a very hot plate. Tip-If needed you can hold a cut of your steak to the plate to "cook" it a bit for the first 5 minutes. Our waiter Eric was very nice. He came right away to offer and pour water and get orders. Things started getting very busy as we seemed to have brought in the dinner crowd, but he tried hard to keep us happy. Husband even changed his order to a larger filet and our waiter rushed to fix it ASAP. Hubby's first steak looked beautiful, but when he cut into it, it was definitely cooked medium instead of med. rare! In fact, mine was slightly over cooked, but it was fine since I don't mind a more well done steak. We brought it to the waiter attention, and he had another prepared. The only problem when it's over cooked waiting for the new steak means you might be eating it after you're done your sides. Not a big worry though, it was well worth the wait. And when the manager came to apologize, we made sure to tell her that Eric was doing a great job. Bathroom was clean, and they were doing a good job with social distancing. My boyfriend and I decided to have our anniversary dinner here. We're a young couple who could only afford one nice dinner. The food was amazing. We got the filets, crab tail, and baked potato. The issue I had was the 20% service charge already added on. We work in the industry and know how important tipping is. We tipped over 20% of the total including the service charge in cash. We didn't realize that service charge he put on was going in his pocket already. He deserved a good tip; everything was great. But I'm extremely upset because now we've lost an additional $80 and tipped on an additional $45 that he did not work for. I will never go here again. It's been several years since I've been to Ruth's Chris, but nothing has changed - which can be both good and bad. Luckily for my wife and me, we have fond memories of dining fairly regularly there, so the lack of change was a bit refreshing. The valet is no longer there, so some parking was cleared up in the front which is good, because the alternative is a lot that's a good 100 yards behind the restaurant. Decor is elegant without being ostentatious, and makes for an enjoyable date night. Service is prompt and polite without being intrusive. The food was great - my wife started with the ahi tuna which was fresh and great quality fish with a mustard sauce and nice pickled vegetables. I had the Caesar salad, which - while nothing unique or spectacular - is quite good. Our steaks were fantastic. My wife had a petite filet which was cooked to a perfect medium and I had the bone in filet which was perfectly cooked to medium rare. The seasoning was excellent with that Ruth's Chris sizzling butter adding to all the wonderful flavor. At most steakhouses I prefer the marbling of a ribeye, but the bone in filet at Ruth's Chris is hard to beat. We split a baked potato (which, is just a potato and difficult to justify the price) and one drink each (a glass of wine for me, a cocktail for her). The total bill with tip came to $264 which is more expensive than it used to be - chalk that up to Covid I suppose. All in all it was a wonderful date night with my wife and although the prices were a bit steep, the quality, execution, and flavor of the food was delightful. read more

I had the salmon and shrimp, which was really good. The salmon was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. The mashed potatoes weren't that great, the lobster Mac n cheese was watery, the asparagus was cooked perfectly, and the Brussel sprouts were delicious. Let me start off by saying I had a 4:00 p.m. reservation for me and my wife's 15th year anniversary. I received a call at 2ish stating that we would not be able to order at 4pm because they were having a trouble with there broilers. I understand things happen, but I was on a time constraint because of the next event we had to get to. The lady that called me sounded dejected when 8 did not cancel my reservation. They didn't open the doors until 4:05. When I came in the hostess Angela was standoffish and rude stating the same thing she had called me with previously. I informed her I was aware. The manager Pooja then came over and with an attitude stated the same thing. I almost just walked out, but I didn't want to make a scene. We were seated in the bar area (never seated in the dining room which we reserved) We are African American so I don't know if that played a part in it. They made us feel very unwelcome. I seen Caucasian customers treated very friendly and even got there food before us. The saving grace was our waitress Jenessa. She tried her best to make up for the horrible experience we were having. She treated us kindly and was very helpful. There is not enough good things me and my wife can say about her. My food was ok, the suggestions Jenessa made helped. My wife's steak was not done correctly but with the wait of over an hour she wasn't going to send it back. I feel like we got cheated out of $124. Food, Menu, Wine and most importantly, the Service were all OUSTANDING!!! On this visit we decided to sit at the bar to start with happy hour and then stay for dinner and we were fortunate to be taken care of by Janessa and Katie and they were AWESOME! We were fortunate to have Sierra (the GM) come check on us frequently as well and all made us feel very welcome and they also provided amazing service! Regarding the food.... STUNNING!!! To start, their shrimp appetizer (spicy style with cucumber salad) was some of the BEST shrimp we've ever enjoyed at a restaurant!!! But our entrees were unbelievable! The crab legs were buttery and very tasty and the herb butter dip they came with was incredibly tasty! The steaks were prepared PERFECTLY!!! Lots of great flavor and perfect marbling... Probably the best NY Strip I've ever had!
