While the lobster mac 'n cheese is not on the lunch menu, you will want to order it as a side or appetizer. My go to dish is the seared salmon from the Plates lunch with clam chowder. For $32, that is a steal! The seared salmon is always on point - crispy on the outside and tender inside. Be sure to sub truffle fries if you get the opportunity. This is one of the few places in Seattle that will still include a complimentary dessert and a glass of champagne for celebratory occasions. Great location. I was visiting Seattle, staying at the Olympic Fairmont across the street, and thought I'd pop in. I saw calamari on the menu and was not disappointed. This restaurant is in a league of its own. My wife and I aren't native to Seattle (we live in the Bay Area, CA), but we keep coming back to this establishment every time we visit. The most recent time was just this past weekend, and the occasion was for my wife's birthday. We decided to bring our 11 month old with us, and let me say - they were completely respectful and accommodating. The hostess was super friendly and responsive to our requests. Our waitress had such charm and elegance in her voice, and really made my son feel welcomed; even the maître d' offered to give my son a toy to play with while he waits. The manager even personally provided room temperature water for my son. There's something special about being empathetic as a parent, but you wouldn't really expect that from a restaurant - needless to say, Capital Grille delivered! Service aside - the food was amazing, to no surprise. We shared the NY strip and sea bass, two very shareable entrees. The spinach dip was cooked perfectly, not too cheesy like some other places, and the lobster Mac and cheese hit the spot. All in all, we very much enjoyed our time here, and the staff really deserved a standing ovation for their exceptional service. Ate at several other places while in town and the food was just average, but from the moment we walked in to CG, we knew we were in for a treat. Greeted by the Manager, a young woman named Destiny Carlson, and after hearing it was my wife's birthday, she made sure our experience was the best, and boy did she excell. The food was amazing and our server, Humberto made our dining there feel special, even with a busy crowd and many other customers too. We are frequent diners at our local CG in Ft Lauderdale, Fla, and love the food and staff there too, but we had dishes here that we never had before, and we were blown away. We planned to share my favorite Rib Eye as we often do, but we wanted to try something different so we ordered the tuna, which was sushi grade, and requested it rare. It was the best we ever had, and the flavor with the sauce was incredible. The French Onion soup is always a favorite and that too was prepared to perfection. But the biggest surprise was the dungeoness crab appetizer, which was also some of the best we ever had, and different from the blue crabs and stone crabs we get in Florida. Reservation for two on a Friday evening in May 2024, at 615pm. Nothing in particular to celebrate - just a date night. Verdict: steak is worth it for a visit, but the general vibe is old, apps/starters are meh, and generally speaking the service is sub-par (for what you'd expect from an upscale chain). We ordered the Bohemian and the passion fruit mojito as drinks. Ordered the oysters as an app, salad and clam chowder for starters, I got the lobster tail and seared steak, and missus got the bone-in ribeye (porcini). I got truffle fries as a side, the missus ordered spinach. Bread also was served as our drinks came out. The brown bread tasted the best, but the crunchy texture of the cracker bread was my personal fun treat. Service quality is meh - I get its a chain but it honestly felt meh. They did serve decently quickly but it always felt somewhat cold (in terms of the interactions) and understaffed. I did get decently fast refills for water but it wasn't something i thought was 'well done' in terms of service quality. Ambiance - also meh. Can't hear any of the music over the drone of everyone's conversation. Sound definitely carries in here (as evidenced by high ceilings). The vibe of this place is really dimly lit, and really outdated. Parking - they don't have any onsite, but there's a parking lot south and west of the capital Grille. Both charge exorbitant amounts for parking - but if you're dining here you likely don't worry too much about the dollar value (because let's be honest - you're not dining here every day!). Food: missus steak (ribeye with 15 year aged balsamic) was way better than the tenderloin + lobster. The sauce definitely made it worthwhile. Sides and appetizer/starters were all non-memorable. We arrived at our reservation time and were seated immediately. I loved the look of the place: dark wood, leather, comfortable chairs, a solid traditional high end restaurant. The service was very good. The cocktail/wine list was on a tablet and left at the table it was always handy. We shared a wedge salad, which was good. We both had a fish entree and we both rate them "satisfactory". The sautéed spinach was excellent. This is primarily a steakhouse and we should have good with a red meat selection. We had dinner before going to Benaroya Hall to see a show. (Perfect parking, and they validate!!) It was a late anniversary celebration, they did not disappoint. Booked a table for a work dinner, and we had a fantastic experience. There were 10 of us, and they sat us in a nice private room where we could have work conversations. Even better, the doors closed to this room, and the table was round, making for great conversation all around. This was really helpful as we were there with a customer. The dishes, sides, and service were all fantastic. Since we were having work conversation, I appreciate that they offered good service without being too intrusive. My water glass was always full, and no one seemed to lack getting what they need (nor did anyone really have to ask either). To be somewhat expected for an establishment like this, they timed their dishes very well also. As mentioned above, the dishes were all cooked very well. From the appetizers (crab & lobster cakes, calamari, mac & cheese, brussel sprouts, truffle fries) to the various dishes ordered, everyone was very happy with their food. The pork chops and steaks all looked cooked very well. Someone ordered an ahi tuna dish, and that may have been the thickest cut of sear tuna I have ever seen (it was 2.5 inches of beautiful deep red color). We were way too full for dessert (and some of us had to run off to catch our flights), but I imagine they would have been delicious. I can imagine parking is a bit tricky in the downtown area, but it seems they offer complimentary valet parking if you drive there. read more

Went for Thanksgiving as we do EVERY year (minus the past 3 years but went to the VA and DC locations) and are also regulars there on a monthly basis. We made reservations over 3 weeks ago and arrived promptly on time. Upon checking in, we were told there would be an hour wait for our reservation. WTF!???? All of our info was there so why were we not texted, called, emailed to let us know the delay?? They sure as hell make it a point to ensure you let THEM know when you are running late or your reservation gets cancelled completely. I get its a holiday. But we have NEVER had to wait an hour. 20 mins I get. Not a fucking hour. That just shows us that they took a bunch of walkins and didnt honor the people that frequent here and made an actual reservation. Trust me, I am done. There are plenty of good steakhouses in Seattle that I will not be coming here again. Do you know how hard it is to then try and walk in another place on a holiday? Clearly you dont care. The service each time was top notch. The Stoli doli is one of their specialty drinks. They soak pineapples in liquor in this. Very tasty. This was my first time having steak tartare and omg. SO good! It was creamy and flavorful. They bring too few bread slices for it but our waiter was excellent on bringing more when he saw we were low. The steak was perfect, exactly as I ordered it, well seasoned and a great cut. And that lobster mac?? So well cooked. Very well seasoned as well, creamy, cheesy, and delicious. Started off poorly when we arrived to find out they got rid of their valet. They told us we can park in the garage and it would be comped but they meant it would be $2 off. We asked for a booth in the reservation and were seated at a table after walking past four empty booths. They stayed empty our whole stay so I am not sure why we were unable to sit there. The drinks were good. We ordered a stoli solo which was fantastic, and an in fashion which was a sweet old fashioned and the black walnut bitters were so mild you could not even detect a trace of them. Good drinks nonetheless. We ordered Dungeness crab cocktail and the crab and lobster crab cakes. The cocktail was fabulous. It takes a lot of skill and patience to open crab legs and get a full piece. The crab and lobster cakes were ok, my partner enjoyed them, but I thought it was too heavy on the lobster and didn't allow the crab to be tasted hardly at all. They were very meat heavy though which was nice. We asked about sauces or toppings they had. Specifically if they had Oscar style. They had an entire list of topping options that were not listed anywhere on their menu. I ordered a filet Oscar style and my partner a dry aged New York. When they brought them out, they placed mine and then had a full conversation without bringing out the sides or my partners dish. They had cut a small slice into the side of my steak to test the temperature which was upsetting to see, especially since the manager later told us that they had a broil head chef who was the only one who grilled the steaks. He should have been able to know the cook of a steak without having to cut into it. When they brought out my partners, it was covered in a Roquefort cheese and had a balsamic reduction. Which was really good, but my partner does not like blue cheese and did not order it that way. We had to sit awkwardly not eating while we waited for our waitress to come back or be in line of sight to flag down. She apologized and said it was her mistake and she rang in the wrong order and went back to fix it. The replacement steak she brought out was such a disappointment. It was medium rare but when you cut it, not a single drop of juice was to be seen. It was so dry it was difficult to chew. On top of that, there was no seasoning on the steak. Not even salt and pepper. We mentioned this also to the waitress and asked for them to be removed. Instead of removing them, she stood by our table and talked to us. The manager also ended up coming over and discussing her personal life with us. Telling us that this was her first service industry job and that her head chef and head broiler left a few years ago and went to carmine in Bellevue. She took the incorrect steaks off our ticket and we paid the $290 remaining and left after listening to her talk for more than 15 minutes. While she was at our table, I excused myself to use the restroom which was even worse than our dining. The lightbulb had been taken out of the fixture and never replaced. The trash was left ajar with things dangling out of them, the toilet was leaking and there was murky water on the floor. Overall a very disappointing service and I will not be back again. read more

The crab was perfect (we had fresh crab and also a crab cake---both preparations were excellent).
