I had set up my parents, who rarely visit The Cheesecake Factory, with two $40 gift cards so they could enjoy a special night out. They decided to try the Oxnard location. Unfortunately, their experience was disappointing. Their bill came to just under $70. When they tried to pay with the gift cards, they were told they could not be accepted due to the internet being slow. This was never mentioned before or during their meal. The only reason my parents went was because they had these gift cards--now they're told they can't use them? When the manager was called over, he took the cards and said, "You guys can leave," then walked away looking visibly frustrated. My parents, shocked at the unprofessionalism, stayed at the table unsure what was happening. The waitress, who was wonderful and empathetic, even tried to get clarification from the manager again. She returned to say they could just leave. She apologized sincerely, and it was clear she was doing her best. Guests should be informed before ordering if certain payment methods can't be accepted. And no guest should be made to feel like an inconvenience. Either train staff to communicate clearly or take ownership when things go wrong. I'm so disappointed! I've always loved the cheesecake factory, and I ate there with my mother last week and it was really good. I had ordered a Chinese chicken salad to go and it was great! We live 45 minutes away, but I was driving by there today and decided to get food for my whole family. This Chinese chicken salad is half the size of the one I got last week! This is a $20 salad? It is ridiculously small! I decided to try the cucumber salad which was $13+, and it's a tiny cup that's not even filled to the top! This is just cucumbers and lettuce, how could you not at least fill the container? These are the cheapest ingredients you can possibly buy! I was going to get several of these salads for Thanksgiving, but I've changed my mind now! Maybe a different location? I'm going to call them and see if they will do anything about this, especially considering I'm 45 minutes away and cannot pop back over there to get more cucumbers or lettuce. I feel bad for the service staff, because the service was actually quite attentive. My only suggestion to improve service is that I experienced non-work, very loud chatter between the service staff. Other than that, they were very friendly. Now, for the food...it was unacceptably awful. We were there for brunch. The place was only about 15% full, man empty tables. First course took over 20 minutes to receive. Eggs benedict dish was awful. Hollandaise was not hollandaise. The taste was horrible. Nice experience at the Cheesecake Factory. Service was a little slow but very friendly. Food quality was good, massive menu selection. The cheesecake here is truly out of this world. It would be nice if they opened at 11 for early lunch people, but they don't open until 11:30. What could improve, Yelp queries? The chicken, for starters. I had the "Thai chicken salad" because the description included the word satay. 1. Why is "white meat" the only offering in the chain joints? 2. Where was the peanut sauce. I had to settle for bbq sauce to choke the drier than shoe leather protein down. The greenery was just ok. Very disappointed with this place! Yes, the food is not bad, but the service is just terrible! Especially the last time, on April 22, around 3 p.m. First of all, the hostess was not there, and I and other people had to wait for about 10 minutes for the hostess. The restaurant was empty, with only 2-3 tables occupied. They didn't even ask me where I wanted to sit, whether outside or inside. They put me inside, at a tiny, uncomfortable table very close to a table with people. The waitress was also terrible! It was a very long wait! To reiterate, it was daytime, and the restaurant was empty. She took our order, but she didn't bring us any water or bread with butter, which is required while you're waiting for your food. (The downside is they are $16!! What? Not sure if it's worth it but they were very good.) Bang bang chicken and shrimp is my new go to! Got it with brown rice. Delicious! We split this. Enough for 2. Always checked in to make sure everything went well, super friendly. The food was great as usual, jambalaya pasta was a bit on the oily end but it was great. 4/5 stars. It would be better if it was soupy like I was imagining it to be or more saucier. Grilled steak was cooked to perfection, great char and flavor, pretty much melts in your mouth. The huge room. The loud music. It's fine. Food: I settled on the BLT sandwich with a side salad. I was feeling the sandwich and wanted something slightly lighter. Why do their salads have the most amount of calories? My sandwich was great and I would review it 5 stars. My side salad did not have any dressing and when I asked for some the waitress told me it did. LOL what? They forgot, it's fine but don't make me feel bad about it. Service: First, they sat 7 people in a 6 person booth and it's not like we were small people or family that sitting super close to each other was cozy. We never got our bread (alas, that bread is so tasty) and everything took a very long time to come out. In all the service was not great. I used to dine at the Cheesecake Factory once a week. This was the spot that my mom and I used to hang out together. Our "go to" for meet ups. Within the past couple of years, I have been there twice. Once around a year ago, and another last night. A year ago, my mom and I went for our typical lunch date and shared a salad, sandwich and avocado rolls. The avocado rolls were presented to us burnt and the sauce was off. We sent the food back and asked if there was a new cook. They said that there wasn't and bought back the same rolls with the burnt parts still on it. We could not eat them yet again and sent them back. The salad was ok, usually decent. Last night was worse quality. The fries were luke warm with my wings. The buffalo wings were cold. My wife's cuban sandwich was on the wrong bread and was described as "panini pressed" and it was on flat bread. Dissapointing. Also the cheesecake is $15..for one small slice. Crazy. Went to dinner on Wednesday night and it was unprofessional from the first contact. I was having difficulty making a reservation online so I called the front desk and Maribel told me she couldn't make a reservation. She was very rude. I called again and she hung up on me for the 2nd time. Then I called and talked to Chris Boyagian who claimed he was the manager. The only Chris Boyagian we know works for the Yardhouse. Didn't apologize for all of the unprofessionalism that we encountered, but took the reservation. Our dinners came out at different times. We waited at least 20 minutes as they redid one of our orders. Then I ordered a slice of cheesecake and it was given to us in a to go bag. I ordered it to eat at the restaurant. The cheesecake was good but the strawberries tasted fermented like they were old and on their way out. We had 3 different servers and Yojanes was the only good server. I'm not sure how to spell his name but he was a young man that really cared about his clients having an outstanding dining experience. Then our servers kept changing. We would prefer to only have Yojanes as our server in the future because he actually cares about your dining experience. He did an excellent job. I work nearby so my coworkers love this place for happy hour and then dinner. It's ok, not my favorite. They have an enormous menu and nothing is memorable but it kills my hunger. The Lemon Raspberry cheesecake is my favorite but you have to eat it there . If you get it to go it's half the size and not packed properly. I once had it fall out the plastic container all over my car. I was a little upset but ate it and didn't call to complain. I know they are trying to keep up with all the orders and busy restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing here! Obviously with it being Mother's Day, I went all out. We started with the bread and butter, Sizzling Spinach dip and chips, and Dynamite Shrimp with Sriracha dip appetizers to tease the palate. Then our entrées arrived and they were plated so meticulously that you didn't want to disturb the design. The Miso Salmon with Snow Peas and white rice was literally mouth watering. My Granddaughter ordered a Mac and CheeseBurger and it was humongous and cooked perfectly as ordered. The Chicken Avocado club was a healthier choice for my disciplined husband. Of course you can't go to The Cheesecake Factory without eating cheesecake so we opted for the fresh Strawberry Cheesecake. It was so good!
