At Taste of Buffalo 2019, I stopped by The Cheesy Chick's food truck and sampled one of their sandwiches and picked up a coupon. Well, it's taken me over two years but I FINALLY made it to The Cheesy Chick's shop in downtown Williamsville and had a wonderful experience! I pulled in on a Friday around 12:45pm and pulled right into a spot by the front door - the parking lot is small, but it never seems to be completely full whenever I've driven by. The interior was warm and cozy with a surprising number of tables to sit at. I walked up to the counter and perused the menu and had a lovely conversation with the two women working in the kitchen. They were very friendly and courteous! After chatting for a couple minutes, I placed my order and was able to use my coupon to get $2 off my combo meal. I took a seat at one of the tables and relaxed for maybe 5-10 minutes before my meal was brought to me. For my combo meal, I ordered the Philly Steak sandwich with a side of Buffalo Bill Mac'n mac-n-cheese. The Philly Steak is Philly-style steak with peppers and onions and BBQ sauce drizzled on top, melted mozzarella cheese inside a Texas Toast basic grilled cheese. The sandwich was excellent! The bread was perfectly toasted with a buttery, crispy bite every time. The Philly-style steak was hot and tender with that authentic Philly steak grease and flavor - perfect in a grilled cheese. The peppers and onions were lightly cooked in a frying pan but not all the way, so they added a nice, crisp texture. The BBQ sauce was drizzled on generously without getting messy. The mozzarella cheese was creamy and blended well with the American cheese melted in the sandwich. The size of the sandwich was pretty standard - not small but not big either, fitting nicely in-between. The Buffalo Bill Mac'n mac-n-cheese side has grilled chicken strips, cubed up to fit the "side"-size bowl, with hot sauce and BBQ sauce drizzle with mozzarella all placed on top of their Mac-n-Cheese. This was pretty good but I wish it was just a little bit cheesier. The grilled chicken was properly cooked and had a nice flavor - this added a bit of heft to this side. The hot sauce and BBQ sauce were generously drizzled on top. I didn't really taste the mozzarella cheese though. The macaroni was cooked exactly as I expected, but again, I just wish it was a bit cheesier. All-in-all though, I did enjoy this side! This combo meal was the perfect portion for lunch - I left full and happy without feeling stuffed. I'm so glad I finally was able to grab lunch at The Cheesy Chick! The staff were great and the food was delicious. The next time I come I may ask for extra cheese on my Mac-n-Cheese for that ultimate cheese overload. But maybe I'll order one of their dessert-style sandwiches instead, that Nutella sandwich sounds tasty. :) read more

It was Thursday's in the quad at Canisius University and one of the food trucks here for the evening was The Cheesy Chick. Absolutely awesome. Food was delicious. Service was even better. And they cater? I can't think of a better food truck to have at a small or large scale event. Birthday parties to corporate events this is the most perfect establishment to cater, friendly and efficient. If you haven't ate at The CheesyChick and you're anywhere near it there might be something wrong with you. I had the Basic Grilled cheese, side of Mac-n-cheese and a Big Pickel. My meal was under $10, if I had went to the chain place less than a block away I would have spent $17. Warm and Friendly place. The owner is on-site and cooks. She was very nice to talk to. I travel a lot for work and eating the same types food night after night gets old. The CheesyChick was a great change. Some would same cheese is a heavy meal but it didn't feel or hit me like that at all. The CheesyChick operates a couple food trucks also. Such a whimsically put together fun place. We rsvp'd for this Yelp event, and loved it! As we walked in, I immediately saw the wired phone on the wall. Oh my! It sort of set the tone for the restaurant-old fashioned, traditional comfort food, and a lot of love. None of the chairs matched! I kept talking about how Phoebe from FRIENDS would have loved the place. Old books, and board games strewn all over the tables. It seemed like a 80s film set. Even the music complemented the place. It was eclectic and a cacophony of colors! Coming to the food--American Grilled Cheese and Tomato soup, pretty basic food but I don't know maybe it was the snow outside that made the food taste amazing and comforting. My husband loved the cheddar broccoli soup. I preferred his food over mine this time. It was creamy and all sorts of yummy. We thought about ordering a Buffalo Mac and cheese, and the owner, John asked whether we wanted it to Go. But we were adventurous enough and also, vibing with the place a little too well, and ordered the Mac and Cheese. It was so so good. I also enjoy Hot sauce so loved that they slathered the mac with that as well. The grilled chicken on top was okay. We finally couldn't finish it and took a box. Ordered the cannolis, and will update once we eat them late night! The best part for this one, was we got to meet the fellow yelpers. We were all sitting at different tables but once we realized we all are the same yelp crew, we gathered around one table. I feel this beautiful place had something to do with it. Kinda like the mismatched chairs. We sat together and discussed food. Had a wonderful evening. Over all, the place is heartwarming and the food soothes the souls. The experience at this establishment was very interesting and not what I expected. I would say it thinks it is kid friendly but it is not kid friendly, at least any kid under 5. Space was a little tight and hard to get around when multiple people were inside, and the seating was a little jumbled and worn. There is a high top table with about 8 chairs around it but you literally cannot access half of the chairs because they are so close to the back wall and are various sizes some of which do not push in easily There were also tiny little toys all over, within easy reach of children, that were either kind of crusty, or fragile, like a mini tea set. It was slightly unclear if these items were for display or for usage. The food was not bad but I felt it was overpriced for what we received. I spent over $30 on a sandwich, plain Mac & cheese and two drinks. They did not have cups/straws available for their bottled beverages, which make it difficult for some children to drink. They only gave us one thin napkin each and we had to keep going up to ask for one more napkin at a time for some reason, lol I'm sorry but eating a buttery kind of sandwich is messy on the hands- maybe put some out on the table or counter. read more

Ordered and had delivered the ABC, Ham and Cheese on Sourdough, and had sides of Tomato Soup and Buffalo Chicken Mac for lunch. Everything was pretty good except for the ABC. The apple slices were (in my opinion) too thick for the sandwich and the cheese wasn't even fully melted on the sandwich. Can't believe I've never reviewed this truck. They just stopped by a party I was at, I've have eaten their grilled cheese sandwich's a number of times. But this was the first time I tried their mac and cheese and I will say it doesn't disappoint. However their regular grilled cheese has some amazingly delicious nostalgic comfort food feel. I love seeing the truck around town, my only complaint is they are so good people usually surround the truck as soon as it shows up, which I guess is a good problem to have. Let me just start this review by saying we have always loved Cheesy Chick. First time we tried their delicious food was when the BIC was holding it's Thursdays Under The Tent a few years back and it was amazing. Since this whole corona virus situation started, my family has been (like every one else) self quarantining. My second youngest and husband are both immunocompromised so he's been off work since the start of March and the kids have been home since the day too. So as you can imagine we've been financially hurting and we've had to ration what we have. The Cheesy Chick came to our rescue! Simone (the owner) reached out to me and delivered all that you see in those pictures. Before this, we were eating what we had in the house which was ramen, rice, and crap. My husband got emotional because nobody has ever been so generous! He loved every bite, and that's saying a lot because he's the pickiest eater. Our children LOVED the Mac and the pizza sammie! We had an amazing dinner for the first time in a long time. We even saved some so if we were hungry in the middle of the night, we'd have something to eat. I was in the area of their brick and mortar location, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. The owner was friendly and personable. I ordered a BLT grilled cheese - which was pretty good; fresh and good tasting (needed Mayo). I also ordered Mac and Cheese - and that tipped the scale in the wrong direction. It was basically yesterdays Mac and cheese - oily, dry and with an attempt to make it fresh by melting some cheese on it. I've never been able to catch her food truck, so I was absolutely thrilled when The Cheesy Chick opened in the very desolate Eastern Hills Mall. I'm a little worried that she won't get the business she deserves in this location just because the mall is always so dead. The food is fantastic here. I've been a couple of times now and find that when I'm not there, I'm daydreaming about the grilled cheese sandwich with that mac n cheese on it. I mean, heaven. Simply heaven. I paid $8 for the worst mac and cheese I've ever had in my life. Soggy pasta, cheese seemed like the stuff from a can. If there was any discernible flavor it wasn't good. Also it was cold??? Going to be one of my go to places! Tried their cheesus sandwich at the Taste of Buffalo a long time ago and was excited to see their brick and mortar location in Williamsville. Been there twice in 2 weeks. Tomato soup is delicious especially with their pesto sandwich. Texas toast is prepared perfecfly. Soup and sandwich done right. Cute place - plenty of parking (small lot in front but bigger lot in back behind it). Ate in restaurant once and took it to go once- packed really nice with no spills on our drive home. I'd seen their food truck around town at events, but I'm not a grilled cheese guy in general so I never tried them out. This location is on Main in Williamsvile; set back a bit in a small strip mall so it's easy to miss. Going inside, it has a very laid back, coffeehouse vibe with knickknacks, mismatched furniture, board games, handwritten menu on the wall, etc. Very nice and relaxing. I upgraded to the pesto grilled cheese, and added turkey; paired with the tomato soup. The sandwich is on grilled Texas toast; pesto was good, tomatos and turkey fresh. A good sandwich; even for a non-grilled cheese guy like myself. As a child, I never liked tomato soup; that may have been because it was canned Campbells. This tomato soup is nothing like that; thick, tasty, with chunks of fresh tomatoes with superb taste. And as an Italian I am picky about tomatoes! I loved this place. We went because of the Yelp event but I would definitely go back, my breakfast sandwich was super hot and had an amazing cheese pull. Just tried the Cheesy Chick for the first time and I was overall happy! Tried two Mac and Cheese dishes that I split with my wife. The first was the bacon Mac and it was ok. I felt like it was missing a little flavor. The second was the buffalo Mac and that was much better. Offered a decent kick of heat and was offset with BBQ sauce which I would have never tried myself. I was very happy with the second choice. I will be back to sample the grilled cheese sandwiches and another Mac. Drove past the food truck and ordered a Philly Steak sandwich and it was surprisingly really freaking good!! I enjoyed every bite. The Texas toast that it was served on made it melt in your mouth. I had the buff chix sandwich delivered to me today. I have to say I ordered in a hungry rush and didn't quite read the description and was picturing more of a buffalo chicken wing dip on a grilled cheese, but this was pretty good too. The white chicken meat was in chunks and not shredded, which felt fresher. The hot sauce and barbecue sauce were drizzled over instead of integrated in a thick creamy sauce I expected from a place described as serving comfort food, but this still had the comfort food taste with a healthier recipe it seems like. I think the prices would be good for eating in, but the delivery fees and tip added up and the cost of my sandwich more than doubled but such is the price of convenience. I really appreciate that they do care about the customer and were able to offer a refund with the issue I had a few weeks ago. ---- My experience at Cheesy Chick was absolutely gag-worthy. I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich which I've gotten once before at the food truck years ago. We really needed napkins and I was a few steps away when I realized and had to push to the front of the line to attempt to ask them for a napkin and they only gave me and my boyfriend two flimsy ones for a messy sandwich. They did not have forks available which would've made this easier to eat. Service was very, very slow. This time when I got to the second-half of the sandwich, I noticed a hair, at first I thought maybe a piece of my hair that was laid on top of the sandwich on accident but no, a long, black hair was cooked right into the cheesy sandwich! I tried to pull it out but couldn't because it was in the sandwich among all the ingredients. I was already pretty far away at this point and didn't think it as worth it to go back and complain. Minus the hair, the sandwich was too soaked in juices and hot sauce to really be edible. But yikes! That is one of the grossest things I have ever had happen to me - stay away. I really was disappointed with this place. I wanted to love it. I truly did. But it just did not meet expectations. The service was poor. We were not acknowledged when we walked through the door or given any indication if it was seat yourself or order at the window. The Mac and cheese was sub-par, occupying a warmish middle ground between hot and cold. It was just "okay." It could have used some spice to jump it up a notch or two. And the grilled cheese was also "okay." It was tasty (although slightly over-cooked), but at a place like this I would expect an exemplary rendition. Overall I was not too impressed. There is a lot of competition in the Village of Williamsville for places to eat, and restaurants need to be on their A-game to get customers to return. Came to this brick and mortar location with my cousin and my aunt about an hour before closing on Friday. I appreciated that this place was open till 6:30pm, so it is viable for dinner. I got so excited when I saw the Cheesus sandwich, I have only had Mac and Cheese grilled cheese a few times. It was excellent and I could not recommend it highly enough. My cousin had a Buffalo sauce Mac and cheese that he also enjoyed. As an added bonus, the hostess gave us some of the left over sandwiches from the day, which made my day!
