I love this place !! down home good home cooking ! The mashed potatoes are awesome and I crave them. The tenders, chicken fried steak and roast beef are excellent. I can't say that I have ever had any bad food here. The sweet tea is just right. I have always had great service in the drive thru. A person runs out and personally takes my order, I am handed a menu to read in my car too. I have never had to wait over 10 minutes even when there is a long line. The portion sizes are large and usually I have leftovers for the next day. Many places disappear on Rufe Snow, but I hope that this one will stay. read more

This is a family owned place with 2 Texas locations. They cook the chicken as you order it so it takes a few minutes BUT it is so good. The tenders are huge. The batter is perfect. They make some awesome fried liver & gizzards as well. Give this place a try! read more

This is a 5 star fast food stop. Blows your typical chicken chains out of the water. Fresh ingredients, Fresh taste, affordable, extremely filing. I got the 2 piece chicken breast/wing with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans. The price was the same as any other chicken place, but the food was incredible. Real mashed potatoes, real fresh green beans, perfect batter on the chicken, and a well done custom blend spicy seasoning to top it all off. If you want chicken, go here. read more

This place sucks. I ordered a chicken fried steak through DoorDash. I specifically put that I wanted the gravy on the side. When I received it the chicken fried steak was sitting in a pool of gravy which made a mushy mess. I called the chicken Place and talk to what I believe was a teenager and told him what happened. He was not concerned, put me on hold for about five minutes. When he came back he told me that it was OK and it was still edible. I told him that was not the point it is sitting in gravy and now is disgusting. He did not care. read more

This is the 4th time I have eaten here. Only the first time did I enjoy my food. The second was the wrong order entirely and I didn't know until I got back to work and didn't have anyone to fill in while I drove back over to get it fixed. The third time, my chicken was undercooked and my sides were cold. When I talked to the manager about it, he made it seem like I was a crazy person. He honestly made me feel like a bad person for sending back undercooked chicken; that should NEVER happen. This time I opted for the chicken fried steak (for doneness) and was happy with the entree and Mac 'n cheese..the fries were TERRIBLE. They taste like they marinated in oil, were then cooked in oil, sat under a heat lamp until I ordered them, and then re-dropped and re-fried for me. I literally gagged at the taste. My friend brought over tenders, mashed potatoes and gravy with a roll from here. The portions were very large. I loved the chicken, it was juicy and tender. The roll was fantastic as well. Our first experience with The Chicken Place was when they catered for a school event in January 2011. I wasn't crazy about the green beans, as I prefer my green beans sauteed, not crunchy (nothing against the beans...it's just personal preference). But, the chicken strips were delicious, and the mashed potatoes and gravy left me wanting another serving. So yummy! All the teachers were raving that it was one of the best meals ever. I couldn't get that meal out of my head, so I took my kids to The Chicken Place after ball practice one night in March. They loved it, too! Since then, we've eaten there at least five more times. Any time we have a late-night ball practice and choose to go out to eat, the kids say, "YEA!!!" when I mention The Chicken Place. They even like it better than Chicken Express, which is saying a LOT! The side dishes are so good, the prices are reasonable, and the restaurant is always clean. The employees are respectful, and we never hear employees discussing their private lives while we're trying to eat. The place is well-lit, and we're able to talk to each other without talking over loud music or 100 other patrons. Our dining experiences have always been pleasant, and the portions are more than enough to fill our tummies. We always leave full and happy. It's like sitting around our dinner table at home, except someone else is doing the cooking and cleaning. We'll definitely return to The Chicken Place, over and over again! read more

I'm writing this update, but I didn't revisit the restaurant. The owner sent me a couple of emails and seemed very concerned that I didn't enjoy my meal. I honestly gave Chicken Place such a bad review last time because I was really ticked off at the POOR service; the owner has corrected that. He didn't offer anything free or try to buy a good review, I just really thought it over and wanted to write an update. What I said in my first review was true; I don't plan on returning. But I will chalk my bad experience up to a "bad day" all around. There is no reason why you shouldn't give this place a try. It isn't expensive, there isn't a long wait in line... so if you don't like your meal, you haven't really lost anything. I grew up in a restaurant and I understand that good help is hard to find... I would hate for someone to judge my family's work by the incompetency of staff member that was clueless. read more

Chicken fried steak looked frozen and re heated. The tenders were nothing but batter and the red potato dish was sour. Wanted to try a new spot and decided to try The Chicken Place! I went to the drive thru and ordered the chicken tender family meal. The guy at the window was very nice and knew a lot about the menu. The order came out in a decent amount of time. The tenders were very good and crispy, loved it! I ordered Mac & cheese and mashed potatoes as my sides and they were ok. The mac n cheese was ok (nothing special) but the mashed potatoes, fries, and corn nuggets are delish. I guess I am the first to rate the Catering part of this business. My husband and I are wedding photographers. We have shot several weddings that the TCP has catered and all we both can say is we have tasted alot of catered food in the 8 years that we have been in the business, and TCP is the best we have had ever. It is always fresh and the roast beef is to dye for. It is the most tender and moist roast beef I have ate. The salad is very yummy and the broccoli casserole is awesome. My husband doesn't care for mashed potatoes, and about a week or so ago, he actually got them.. and he could not say enough about them. When we get to a wedding, Scott is always friendly and very attentive to his clients and the guest. If you need a caterer, TCP is the place to go. You will not regret it.. now I guess it is time to stop into the restaurant for a bite. read more
