Heard good things so we went for our 15th anniversary. The ambiance is nice but that's about it. The food was sub-par as if they pulled it from the buffet and tried to plate it fancily. My French onion soup was pre-made and had a glob of rubbery cheese floating on top and not toasted under a broiler like usual. The mashed potatoes were processed, had a chemical taste, and had an outer coating as if they had been prepped in the early morning and then microwaved prior to service. I won't even comment on how they looked (see the picture). Come to think about it, my soup was likely nuked as well. We had the filet that magically showed up with shrimp we didn't order. It was a nice surprise only to find them chewy and without seasoning. The addition of collard greens with steak, shrimp, and mashed potatoes was a bit odd for a supposed fine dining restaurant. Our server was a bit different. I'm not sure she was fully able to communicate with patrons as when we were ordering from the menu she acted as if we were asking for things off menu. She came by once to check on us and only to offer additional drinks. She walked by us to serve another table and looked at me as I raised my hand. She didn't acknowledge me despite making eye contact. We waited over 20 minutes after that for our check. When she finally brought it I let her know we had been waiting, and instead of an apology, she just said "you were talking when I walked by."Um, ok... Needless to say, we will not be going back, especially when they left such a sour note on such a big evening for us. read more

This restaurant is lovely and the view is beautiful, but the menu is poor and the food is abysmal. My friend and I ordered the halibut tacos. They were cold, the taco shells were inedible, and the halibut was dry and accompanied by plain shredded cabbage. We asked for and received some dressing which helped mask the dryness of the taco. We hoped that meal was a fluke and went back again for another meal - it too was unfortunate and we both felt bad when we got home. Several years ago this was a great restaurant with wonderful food and an appealing menu. So sad to see what it has become. read more

Insult to injury. Aside from the dinner party starting off with insults by the hostess when she asked if it was a special occasion and we excitedly said yes it's a friendaversrie. She looked around to our group and asked "really" in an accusatory manor. Like really "really you are coming "here" to celebrate your friendship". Downhill from there. Don't get me wrong the service at the table was very gracious. It's just that well the food sucked. The prime rib Med Rare was all Med well and COLD. When we asked for it to be warm or hot it came back warm and well done. Yes they took it off the bill. But that's not what we wanted. The shrimp and pasta had the tails on as if we are supposed to pick off the tails as if it is a shrimp cocktail. It was not. And the shrimp are not supposed to have tails on in a dish you don't use your fingers. The veggies had no flavor. When we asked for the #2 choice the server explained it that the other sides are reserved for larger parties. Got it. See ya. Will not return. Have your ever been to the mid west. I am so glad I didn't look at the reviews before sitting down , evwry thing about this experience was 5 star , my wife had steak and lobster, I had an ahi poke ,oysters in half shell , dragon roll , blackened shrimp n grits and two beers . From the moment we walked in we were treated as if we were their only customers. My waitress was the best! The buss boy never allowed my water glass to half empty. The floors were very clean our table and seats were very clean. My goodness the food ! So good! Every bit of it . The ahi I had was fresh the dragon roll , perfect. I'm not entirely clear why this place got mediocre ratings. We've eaten here a couple times since coming and staying at the resort, and wasn't disappointed. Service was top notch, food was great. I ordered the prime rib medium rare, it was perfect and tender. My wife ordered the seafood gnocchi, which by the way was amazing with huge scallops, shrimp and lobster pieces in a lemon butter cream sauce, almost wanted to lick bowel clean after she was nice enough to let me try it. We did also get Calamari for an appetizer, it was tasty as well. read more

We tried the "Easter Dining Experience" and were pleasently surprised. Even though it was a "mini" buffet, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent! Started with our own plate of fresh fruit brought to our tables with a basket of muffins and scones, along with coffee and mimosas. They buffet had local salmon, shrimp, crab cakes, pasta, and breakfast items, as well as a steam table with several hot selections. EVerything was yummy! The only negative was the dessert option- which was a salad size plate with a mini canolli, mini custard pie, and one macaroon that looked like hey had just come out of the freezer. (Not to mention you had to share with another perosn). I was really looking forward to ending my Easter dinner with maybe a carrot cake or other options of freshly made confections. The kitchen at times does not seem organized or coordinated. Some patrons have their entres served while others at the same table have lengthy waits. We came here for Thanksgiving dinner, and the food was mediocre at best. The turkey and gravy were OK, but the stuffing looked and tasted as if someone had merely soaked croutons in water. The potatoes and vegies were tasteless as well. We had pecan pie for dessert and it tasted like something you'd buy at a grocery store - and I don't mean Central Market. We had a great visit on our recent staycation and enjoyed a reasonably cost dinner in The Clearwater. We had an 8:00 reservation, but so did the hoards of others standing around in the waiting area. A little disorganized, but we were finally seated, with a choice of window table or booth. Opted for the booth since it was just a view of the parking lot and we could see fine out the windows anyway. Our waitress, Candace, was super gracious. When she asked if we wanted butter or olive oil/balsamic vinegar for our bread, I had to ask what kind - like if they were just dinner rolls, I'd want butter; if it was some sort of crusty loaf, I'd want the latter. She clued us in that hot bread would be coming out shortly and she would bring us the olive bread. My ribeye was not exorbitantly priced like other restaurants, but then again, it wasn't huge. BF ordered the crab cakes and we swapped portions of our entree. We ordered 2 smalls of the au gratin potatoes; one would have been plenty. Perfectly cheesy/saucy in its own cast iron skillet. Several asparagus spears and a piping of potatoes were served with the ribeye, and the crab cakes received brocollini. I think the bill, with two cocktails, was under $100. read more

The worst dinner ever. We've been here a couple of times and had fantastic dinners. Unfortunately not tonight. The sushi appetizer was good and we should have stopped there. Caesar salad was mediocre at best (no flavor and the salad was room temperature (not cold). We were seated at 6:40pm and at 8pm, still no dinner. When it arrived 15 minutes later one dish was luke warm while the another cold. One dish was immediately taken back and brought out (literally) in seconds even colder. Both dinners were refused. It is very unfortunate as we are locals and won't be back. The wait staff and floor manager made many excuses about the wait in between meals. If our meal had arrived hot, we would have chalked it up to a bad night for the staff. Not so much when dinner is cold. Very unfortunate. read more

This is average food. When you walk in you feel like wow this is super fancy. However the quality of the food was not great. The mashed potatoes seemed like they came from a box, the sauces were mediocre, the aujus seemed like it came from a box as well. Overall the ambiance is good nice and quiet but the food does not match the feel of the restaurant. Three of my sisters and I went to Clearwater Resort for the weekend to have fun and gamble. We walked into The Clearwater without a reservation so I suppose that is why the host was incredibly rude to us when we walked in. One of my sisters wanted to leave but we were all hungry so we decided to give it a chance. There were only two or three tables with people so I'm not sure why it was such a big deal to serve us, or if that is even why she treated us like she did. The food was hit and miss. One sister didn't like any of the dishes she ordered. The caprese salad had a balsamic that tasted bitter and as if when they reduced it they burned the pan and that flavor infused into the vinegar. We told our waitress that they should taste it because the balsamic was off. She didn't say one word, didn't take the plate didn't talk to the chef and then ignored us for the rest of the night. Other servers even cleared our plates. Seems as though they should do some remedial training on how to treat customers. I would not recommend eating here unless you want to feel like Julia Roberts in pretty woman when the sales ladies were so rude to her and wouldn't serve her, in that case enjoy! ;) The casino part of the resort has friendly wonderful staff. But the food places we tried could do better on food and customer service. read more

Two horrible experiences... 2 month apart.... Got charged for a spilled drink, two entrees that were lukewarm, a salad missing the key ingredients, and being told a campari was an unusual request, apparently to justify the 35 minutes it took ... I love shows at the casino, but "Jamie" has now ruined two dates to the casino.... She's been overtly rude, mocking, and never properly corrected a single issue (of many).... Not a single apology... not a single person said "thanks" as they literally threw the bill on the table.... The incident truly upset my date (who works in the industry). Admittedly, the "manager" offered a $40 credit to essentially calm the situation ,(after two $200 meals sucked overall) but it only served to make us feel more nauseous....Sad... It looks like a high end destination... Stay away!! And Jamie (and perhaps the manager) should never work with people expecting to be treated like customers.... read more

My wife and I just ate here. The best part was either the bread or the salad. I got the half roast chicken meal, and my wife got a steak. The chicken was alright, but the steak had to go back three times to be cooked right. And a restaurant that specializes in steak should not have any issues cooking a medium rare steak. And when we asked to speak to a manager, they sent out a trainee, and wouldn't compensate our meal at all, or do anything to compensate. $80 for a drink, 2 salads, 1 entree cooked correctly, and 1 entree that had to go back 3 times? I'm sorry. You will not be seeing myself or my wife again. Mediocre food, and mediocre customer service. We went out expecting a nice night tonight, and got quite the opposite. read more

We ate here a couple of weeks after it opened and was so disappointed with the menu and the service and the quality of the food. We used to enjoy going to the cedar steakhouse and enjoyed their menu a lot and was really in "sticker shock" when we saw the new menu in the new restaurant. Everything is a l carte! $4-6 dollars for mashed potatoes! You are kidding me, right??? They weren't even good. Salads are extra and the steaks were unseasoned and very tough an full of gristle. I couldn't even eat it! This was after getting the spiel from the waitress about how it was better meat all locally sourced and so much better than the previous steakhouse, hence the higher prices! I sent that steak back as it was well done instead of medium rare as requested. The second steak was not any better, though there were signs of redness in the middle. Our vegetables looked gross and we didn't even try them as they were so unappealing. I purchased a caprese salad which was ridiculously priced and it wasn't very good. It was supposed to have a basalmic reduction which was watery and flavorless. It consisted of two slices of tomatoes and 2 small pieces of mozzarella and the basil was close to non existent. I haven't even mentioned the service yet.... It took 35 minutes to take our order. We waited forever for the first round of steaks, I had wanted prime rib but was told they were out of everything but well done prime....big disappointment there! That was the only thing on the menu that I actually wanted....my bad! I like my meats undercooked! Then waited for steak number 2! By then they were probably doing evil things to the food of the complainer at our table. Well they did come out and offer us a complementary dessert for not having prime rib to our liking. We got a raspberry sorbet which was heavenly. When the second steak came it was so tough and full of gristle though it was almost medium rare the management said they would comp my steak. I received our bill and it was still $80 and there were just two of us and we only had soda to drink! I was floored! Never going back there again! read more

We've been coming to Clearwater for several years. Typically we enjoy a fine meal at a very reasonable price. This visit we noted a few changes. The delicious Caesar salad used to be served atop very thin crisp plate sized cracker; that was missing this visit. The peppercorn New York was served this evening without the lovely peppercorn glacé, and instead had a ground pepper substitute. The vegetable was an unappealing rainbow cauliflower (purple, yellow green) that was quite dry. Our meal was inexplicably delayed, though the server was quite gracious. The finer details that used to make this a great date-night dinner seem to be missing in the interest, perhaps, of cost-cutting. We'll give another try, but we were disappointed in our dining experience this evening. read more
