Paloma that they served
Laura M.

This was a halfway mark for my friends and myself between LA and Oxnard, Ca. We met there. Place has cute retro decor. Server was new and friendly. I ordered the Paloma, was good but not super strong. Ordered the mahi mahi tacos, they are street sized but I liked them. My friends had the taco salad and gringo tacos. They gave us a great brownie dessert with ice cream as it was a birthday. We are going to make it our place now. It has a cute bar area, outdoor area, and total 10ths 60's beach shack vibe. I loved it-

This restaurant has a really cute hip vibe that initially attracted me to it. I love the hanging plants on the ceiling, the murals, the places to take selfies, it all has a great vibe, we sat in the bar area where they have a few screens that play sports and I enjoyed this spot, especially since the other side was a longer wait and was more for reservations (which we didn't have). In my opinion the food didn't taste that special. Maybe it was what we ordered but it all kind of just tasted like something that would be made at home, no unique seasoning or style for the cooking. Both dishes we got (the gringo tacos and the chicken fajitas) were extremely overly greasy. My whole table commented on the amount of grease pooling on each plate. We had just eaten at Red O's last week in this area, and kept comparing the food, but not in a good way. The wait was long to get our food but our server Macy was absolutely fabulous. She was patient and kind and made sure we were taken care of and communicated what was going on every step of the way despite it being so busy. She even gave us some free guac while we waited, which was actually my favorite thing I ate that night. I wish every waitress was like her. I want so badly to give this restaurant more stars because of her but when I compare it to other Mexican restaurants in So Cal, the food doesn't really hold up to my preferred tastes. Overall, I'm glad I tried this spot but I don't think I'll be back any time soon unless the food improves.

~ COASTAL-CHIC DREAMS & THE MOST DELISH MARGS~ I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet! I've been here more than a handful of times and each experience is always a 5/5. Think tropical/modern decor, lush patio seating, and a hint of "prohibition-era speakeasy meets beach resort" energy, I'm practically a regular over here. There is a bar side (which is where I usually frequent) where there are a few TVs that are great for sport watching. On the other side there is a larger area with plenty of seating for couples or even larger groups. Both areas are gorgeously decorated with the most instagrammable shots! For food, go for the lobster tacos because they are always absolutely delicious, poke tostadas taste like a vacation in every bite, and super fresh shrimp ceviche. Wash it down with their signature magnum margarita or an Anejo old fashioned (El Viejo) and you're living your best coastside life. SHOUT OUT to Alice & crew for always serving up chill vibes and the tastiest drinks! *HOTTIP: I love sitting on the bar side, because it's so much livelier but during sports season it does fill up quick, so get there early!

So inviting and cool !! Great place to chill !

We wanted to try the street acos at this place again ! We calked in our order this time selecting the lobster, battered Mahi, and the Poké tacos. The selections today tasted very good ! The flavours of the Battered fish were a little different, not as much sauce, and not as bold. The lobster was seasoned well, had enough sauce, and had great depth, but was a little dry.this time. The poké tacos were made on crunchy wontons instead of soft corn tortillas. The poke chunks were large, plentiful, and smothered in their signature chipotle aioli sauce while each topped with a jalapeño slice and avocado slices. They each had a nice crunch, out of the gate, with a bit of spice, heat, and smooth, yet firm juicy texture! Per usual, the staff was stellar and the place was clean and busy ! We will be back soon for more deliciousness !! Cheers !

My family was looking for a place to have dinner that was close to the theater and found The Cliffdiver. We made reservations on Saturday, but it wasn't crowded whatsoever. The place was decorated nicely and everything was clean. We were there during happy hour - though they don't have a huge selection, they have yummy options and the portions are decent. We tried the quesobirria tacos (total hit), the queso with chips (yummy), and the octopus salad. That last one was a miss, maybe a little undercooked. The steak fajitas were super tasty too. We ordered beef tacos from the kids menu, but my niece didn't like them too much. Overall, good experience and great service. Our waitress Macy was really patient, attentive, and it a great mood. Definitely recommend coming by for happy hour. Margarita was a 5/5

This review is for the bar area only. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 5 pm. The bar area was fairly full, but we were able to find a four top. Our waitress brought over complimentary chips and salsa and quickly took our drink orders. I tried the nonalcoholic watermelon & mint aqua fresca - nice flavor and refreshing. My husband and I shared the poke tostadas, which were fresh and flavorful. We also enjoyed the taquitos de papa. The service was great throughout, with frequent check-ins. Parking is easy either on the street or in the small lot behind the restaurant.

Absolutely Incredible Experience! Cliffdiver in Thousand Oaks has quickly become one of my favorite spots. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and welcoming vibe from the bartender, Chloe, that made us feel right at home. She is amazing; running the bar, tables, and food coming out of the kitche without forgetting to check-in with each table...wow. She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu -- her recommendations were spot on. The food was phenomenal -- fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. Every dish we ordered had that perfect balance of authentic flavor with a modern twist. The cocktails were crafted with care and paired perfectly with the meal. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, making it ideal for date night, a casual dinner with friends, or even a solo bite at the bar. You can tell the team here takes pride in what they do -- everything from the décor to the service felt intentional and thoughtful. If you're in the Thousand Oaks area, Cliffdiver is a must-try. We can't wait to come back and explore more of the menu!

I've been here a couple of times and always have a great experience. The drinks are solid, and they even have a Taco Tuesday night that's definitely worth checking out. The vibe is relaxed and fun, perfect for hanging out with friends. One of the best parts? They have a patio--and it's dog-friendly! Highly recommend if you're looking for a laid-back spot with good drinks, good food, and atmosphere.

Paloma, ceviche and chips with habanero sauce

The ceviche was absolutely delicious hands down the best I've ever had (and I've tried many!). The service was excellent; the staff were attentive and made sure my water and drinks were always filled. The ambiance was calm and relaxing, perfect for a Saturday afternoon with beautiful weather.

Our reservation was for 11am and we were seated right away. The decor outside, inside, the hallways, everything was so IG worthy! There's a doorway to the dining area as well as the bar area. The florals on the ceiling is a super nice touch. The bottomless mimosa is $25 per person and was absolutely worth it with the variety of juice that comes with it as well. Our server was super nice so our experience was great! Most of us got the breakfast sandwich and it was perfectly seasoned and the tots were perfectly crisp just like we asked for. We also asked for garlic aioli which paired well with the breakfast sandwich and as dipping sauce For the tots. If we are ever back in this area, we will for sure be back!

But it is REALLY loud. There were maybe 9 people in there and you had yell at the person next to you because it's all concrete and metal. Not sure who thought this would work but it definitely does not. Also doesn't look like anyone had a plan of what they wanted the space to be. Live music? DJ? The acoustics are going to be awful. It's a massive space with a bunch of tables and nothing else. It's quite simply just odd. As for the food, it's not good. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. Pretty bland and nothing is fresh. It's also outrageously overpriced. Chicken fajitas were meh and they were $27.00. We got shrimp and they were rubbery and came in a plastic bag, which was in a bucket. Weird. Also, no silverware. Only plastic. Just a headscratcher all around. The website says they have happy hour but they didn't have a separate menu. Just two dollars off drinks is what w were told. Probably why it was empty at 5:30. Also weird. They have this huge space and don't seem to have any idea what to do with it. Drinks were the same as the food. Wildly overpriced and the bartender didn't seem to know what they were doing. So, fitting for the overall concept. I was excited about the new bar because we have an office down the street but this looks like a hard pass for me. 5 stars is for the staff because they were great.

The mall this place is in is a dump. There is a Mexican restaurant next door. I mention this because there is the crab/seafood menu and then there is an extensive Mexican food menu as well. I wonder if they just get the Mexican food from the restaurant next door? I don't know, nothing wrong in that. The tables have a paper "tablecloth" on them with plastic utensils. The reason for this is they don't use plates. They just bring you your seasoned seafood in a double plastic bag, and it is dumped out onto the paper "tablecloth". I saw this happening at the only other occupied table and immediately lost my appetite. My wife, undeterred, ordered some mussels. Ordinarily, we'll also order vegetables with any meal, but the side servings of vegetables are priced like filet mignon. I asked if I ordered the chips & guacamole, did it come with a serving of salsa? Alas, our server said no. What does a tiny amount of salsa cost a restaurant? 50 cents? So, I stuck with a glass of water. I was done. I couldn't bring myself to eat here. My wife ate a few of the mussels, digging them out from the plastic bags with her plastic fork. She said they were "ok" but we paid and departed, after a very poor experience. No pictures because I wasn't in the mood.

Authentic Island Flavors at Luau Grill…read more My wife, our three sons, and I recently stopped by Luau Grill in Thousand Oaks, and it was one of those spots that instantly makes you feel at home. With its true mom and pop shop feel, this place delivers not just on flavor, but on that welcoming, no-frills atmosphere that makes you want to come back again and again. Entrées: We ordered the chicken katsu and kalbi short ribs, and both were outstanding. The chicken katsu was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying juicy and tender on the inside, paired with a flavorful sauce that brought everything together. The kalbi short ribs were just as impressive, marinated well with that sweet and savory balance you expect from great Hawaiian BBQ, and cooked to perfection with a nice char. Sides: Each plate came with white rice and macaroni salad, and both hit the mark. The rice was fluffy and a perfect base for the meats, while the macaroni salad was creamy, simple, and exactly what you want alongside a hearty Hawaiian meal. Appetizers: We also grabbed a classic spam musubi, and it did not disappoint. The spam was nicely seared with a slightly sweet glaze, sitting on perfectly seasoned rice and wrapped in seaweed. Simple, but done right. Ambience: The vibe here is as authentic as it gets. It truly feels like a small family-run spot where the focus is on good food and good service rather than anything flashy. That mom and pop atmosphere adds a lot of charm to the overall experience. Overall: Luau Grill is a must-visit if you're in Thousand Oaks and craving authentic Hawaiian food. Dining here with our three sons was easy and enjoyable, and from the quality of the dishes to the welcoming feel of the place, everything comes together for a great experience. Easily one of the best Hawaiian spots around, and definitely somewhere we'll be returning to.

Then when I placed my order, I like to try things even if I take left overs so I asked for two appetizers and then a dinner plate and he said "two" then he goes and tell the other guy in Spanish how I wanted both appetizers. Now I didn't care that they were making a comment on that, I didn't want to take offense but it was as if I wasn't important enough for them to care that I'm sitting right there while they have a full blown conversation about what I ordered. Now the food sadly was not good. I was expecting some real flavors. The chicken looked delicious but it has no flavor. Absolutely nothing. The hummus was very graining and not at all tasty like others I have had. The tzatziki sauce had too much lemon that it over power the flavor. I've gone to many Mediterranean style restaurants and I know that the hummus and sauces can be made different but this one was not good. The food was the pita bread, that was actually very tasty. The rice and vegetables again no flavor. I'm not sure if maybe this was a bad day for the cook becuase based on the reviews I really thought I was going to get some tasty food.
