My wife and I drove to The Clock Specialist on a Saturday after I emailed them regarding fixing my Mother's Regulator clock that she had for many years. Long drive from Highland, CA to Burbank, but well worth the drive. Greg walked us through the repair process and costs. He gave us options to fix the clock and the costs of each. His knowledge of the clock was impressive as he showed us the different parts and what he found while doing the inspection. He was nice enough to fix the clock the same day so we didn't have to drive back to pick it up. He also showed me how to adjust the clock to make sure it kept the correct time since it has a pendulum. Great service. An old - no, antique! - art-deco mantel clock was missing the knurled knob for setting the time. No use for a clock where you can't set the time! I needed to have two watch batteries replaced and found The Clock Specialist. The shop has an amazing selection of grandfather clocks and wall clocks, in addition to men's and ladies' wrist watches. The owner and his assistant were very welcoming and friendly. It took less than 10 minutes to replace the batteries and clean and service the watches. I'm always delighted to find a small business owner that provides excellent service with a friendly attitude. Oh, one more thing: I don't believe they take credit cards, but they do take checks and cash. The owner told me the credit cards companies charge too many fees and processing charges. We have an old Kundo anniversary clock that hasn't worked for years. He told me from the start that he'd need it for a few months and about six weeks later he contacted us to pick it up. Greg cleaned, repaired and oiled it and it was working well. A few months later it stopped working. We had trouble winding it. I took it back to Greg and he quickly analyzed that it just needed winding and balancing. He showed me (free of charge) how to balance and wind it. I've had a diamond ring that I've wanted to sell for some time now. I read great reviews about this place and decided to walk in. The clock specialists wife is the one who greeted me and confirmed that they do buy jewelry (otherwise, I'd gone somewhere else.) The clock specialist expressed much interest in the ring and had given me an amount that could be paid. I agreed. Then he was going back and forth with his wife about it. He let me know that his wife did not "want him to spend money now." She then comes out from the back, hands me my rings and says "we're not buying right now. Sorry but we're not buying." She was so cold about it! She didn't even look at me. It was so awkward. I work with people in my profession and this was not the way to treat a potential customer. I wish she had told me that they were not buying jewelry from the beginning. That would have been fine, I could have saved 30 minutes of my time. I'm super disappointed. read more

I went there today to replace the band on my watch. They had a good selection of different bands that fit my watch. After choosing the band, he had to cut it down a bit to get it to fit in my watch. It cost less than $30 to replace and install the new band and I was in and out in about 20 minutes. read more

I have used The clock specialist a couple of times in the last several years. I have spent hundreds of dollars and, for the most part they do a fairly good job. They fixed the ships clock for me that had been in my family for almost 100 years And it is still working fine. I brought in a Tiffany mantle clock and was given three options to fix it. I was given a low, medium and high option. I chose the high option as I thought that the clock would run for several more years. After about 10 months, I took the clock back into the clock specialist and was accused of trying to get a free Repair in the guarantee window. I was deeply offended by this and told the owner that that was not my intent. However, I did have him look at the clock, and now it has stopped working again. I am not going to return to this provider anymore as I don't want to be offended and I believe that there is someone who can do a better job, I don't mean for this to be a positive or a negative review, just want you to be aware. read more

Overpriced. 2nd time trying this spot because it's down the street. I have a cheap $11 casio with a torn strap. The employee pulls a box of at least 200 straps from under the display that hasn't been touched since 1996. Picks one at random and takes my watch to the back. Comes back and says the replacement is $20. Won't budge on the price. Whole store feels a bit out of touch and a remnant of the past. Maybe it's better for larger repairs. But definitely not the spot for a quick fix. read more

It's always difficult to find a great mechanic, restaurant, etc. I was very fortunate to find the clock specialist. Had an issue with my clock, took it in to find a solution. Very helpful and professional. They seem to have a lot of experience with clocks, the mechanics, and just overall care for clocks. I'm really thankful they were able to fix my clock. If my wife was writing this review, it would've been 1 star. We went to them a couple of times just for watch batteries, and it is just not a pleasant experience here. Unless you enjoy the kind of customer service that makes you feel like you're putting someone out and the owner/employees are burdened by your presence. My wife has already sworn them off, but they're like a 2 minute walk from our house and I had 3 watches that needed batteries so I went back today. I dropped off the watches mid-morning and was told to come back in the afternoon. Normally, I would expect it to be something that could be done on the spot (especially since the place is always empty), but whatever... sure, I said I'd come back. And then they asked me to call first. Really? Given 4 or 5 hours you can't be sure you'll change 3 watch batteries in time? Okay... again, whatever. Called back at 3:30, and the watches hadn't been touched. So I just went back around 4 and got my watches back untouched. I'll take my business elsewhere for now on. It just shouldn't be such a hassle. Save yourself from it and find a different place... particularly if you need something as simple as a watch battery replaced. read more
