I had a pleasure of visiting The Coconut Truck a couple weekends ago when they were outside the Anaheim convention center for an event. My friend was able to try the food earlier in the week and had recommended it. The food was pretty good and so I came here for my lunch break. I got that garlic noodles and shrimp although not what I had in mind taste of garlic noodles, they were still pretty good. It was easy to order and my food was done fairly quickly, so I was able to have a very tasty meal in a short amount of time. In hindsight I wonder if they had any sort of hot sauce or I wish I had access to hot sauce, but I would've enhanced my food a little bit more to give it a little more kick. It was still great overall Overall, the food is pretty solid and it was a great tasting meal. I don't think I'll be hunting them down but I would get food with them again in the future. read more

I love food trucks and this one was outside my office today. Ambiance: Well it was parked in Irvine, so who doesn't love that? Beautiful skies, great weather! Food: I had the half and half bowl, which is half teriyaki chicken and half orange chicken. You can choose to have it over rice or garlic noodz. Here at the Anaheim convention center and Coconut truck was one of the food truck vendors. The pictures on the menu did NOT match up with what we ordered. I had the teriyaki chicken $15.79 for what looks like a sample bowl. It looked like she took 2 or 3 teaspoons of chicken and spread it over a little bit of soggy rice from the cole slaw. Didn't taste teriyaki to me. It was served in a small paper tray you would get an order of fries from in & out. For $16 it was NOT worth it. Hubby got the orange chicken and we counted 6 pieces of orange chicken smh. His chicken had more flavor than mine. Wished I had taken a picture of it but it was a long day of sporting event we scarfed our food and was so disappointed. Because we were STILL hungry, we ended up going into the Hilton hotel food court to Crave pizza. Bought 2 slices and paid almost the same amount as 1 tray from coconut truck. Shame. Ordered this teriyaki chicken dish from the Coconut truck on the second day of a 4-day conference and I was favorably impressed. The bowl was generously portioned and about 75% full (to the line around the edge), the cole slaw was fresh, the chicken was ample and had great flavor, and the rice was perfectly steamed. Today, the last day of the conference, is another story. This is the bowl exactly as served (minus inserted fork). The bowl is perhaps 40% full, the chicken has an over-strong char flavor with a smaller portion, the Cole slaw is limp, and the rice is dry. Its a shame; some variation is expected, but this is quite extreme, and disappointing. It is still edible, but no longer inspiring. read more

We had then to our neighborhood for an event a few weeks ago, and they were great. Staff kept up with the orders and was ON IT! Everyone I talked to also had wonderful things to say about the food. Only bummer was they ran out of shrimp a bit early, but they said we ordered alot more of it than they had anticipated. Great staff and great food, (I tried 3 things and all yummy) highly recommend. Oh, and prices were reasonable. No issues with communicating with them, they always got right back to me and did exactly what they said they would. Defiantly would have them back. read more

Coconut truck was posted at one of our most recent events and was the lunch of choice for everyone. With the large crowds around I can say that Coconut truck had one of the most efficient operations that day! The lines were long but their process kept the people moving and the food coming out in a timely manner. 5 mins max from order to pay to grubbing! We got the garlic noodle bowl, orange chicken bowl and lemon grass tofu bowl!! The tofu was a bit mushy for my preference. I like a firmer option but the flavors were outstanding! The orange chicken was fresh and crispy with lots of sauce from the sauce! Even after 20 mins the chicken stayed crunchy and flavorful! The garlic noodles were simple and packed with flavor! I ordered the orange flavored chicken and rice which was overpriced for what I recieved. The portion was small but not terrible, what was really bad was the fact the chicken was room temperature and the sauce was cold making it inedible. I hire this company on 11/08/20 got a contract and give them a deposit. Due to covid my event for 12/6/20 got cancelled, Chad the owner didn't want to give us money back but assure my event coordinator and myself that he will complete the job for the reschedule date. We decided to continue with the party planning and pick up we're we left off. Up until a few days ago he was on board, but last Friday 11/26/21 he sent an email to my event coordinator cancelling on us! Are you kidding me 10 days prior to my event? You have no idea the stress this put on us, the time consumed in trying to get another catering company to fill the spot. Why do people do this? Why are you in business? This is 100% wrong and Unprofessional, not fair and that's why I'm posting this review, not to hurt anyones feelings but so people know not to trust them even with a contract and a deposit. Basically they can cancel on you without any explanation. But 1 year ago due to a worldwide pandemic they were unable to help. Slave girl and I were at an event where they sponsored The Coconut Truck to cater our lunch. I've never heard of the truck and always excited to try new things. At the day of the event, we each received a voucher for either teriyaki pineapple chicken bowl or lemongrass tofu bowl. We also had the option to purchase items from their regular menu. We both got the chicken bowl. When we got the bowl, it was very sad looking. The chicken barely covered the rice and visually unattractive. The chicken was dry and chewy, almost tasted like the refrigerated packaging grilled chicken from a grocery store. The rice was also really dry and made the whole dish hard to swallow. The only flavor from the dish was the sauce that was spot drizzled over the chicken, so if you happen to finish the sauced chicken first, be prepared for cardboard chewing. I also witnessed the lady behind the register being unfriendly to other people in line even though she was friendly to me. I can understand the chicken bowl might not be the best seller and the effort of making them great might not be the top priority, but as a paid vendor, the food we received was just nasty. As a first timer, I would never want to eat anything from this truck again based on what we got and I would suggest you the same. read more

High quality bowls at this friendly little truck. Flavors are pronounced and complex. Shrimp are perfectly grilled and tender. Ribeye is nicely marinated, braised, and seasoned. Rice is suitably sticky. Slaw is crisp and balances the otherwise-rich ingredients. If you want a rib-sticking lunch that lets you delude yourself into thinking you're eating healthy, then The Coconut Truck fills the bill. read more

Found this truck outside Wonder Con, I wouldn't recommend it. I got the noodles and they were over cooked, unflavored and all clumped up together. They were also cold. The only food truck that I have to have whenever it comes by work. They give you a lot for the price that you pay. I always get the surf and turf and my bowl is full of all that is good. Coconut rice, shrimp, lemongrass beef. It truly is comfort food for me and the flavors of everything come together. The beef is always tender and they don't skimp on the shrimp surprisingly. If only I can have it come by more often... hahaha read more

Once apon an OC night market adventure we stumbled across The Coconut Truck and all of it's truck deliciousness! One of the main reasons we checked them out was because their line wasn't super long after we received our food I was kinda surprised it wasn't long because their food is super flavorful and unique! We ordered the loaded taro fries I was surprised at how good they were because I wouldn't have expected fried taro to be as flavorful as it was. The fried taro itself had a bit of a crisp to them leaving the inside relatively soft and perfect to go with the toppings they out on the fries. They also had a good amount of pulled pork on them it was tender and just delicious definitely something I would order on a sandwich or other items but the real kicker was the cilantro sauce it paired marvelously with the taro and pork! This is a great food truck and I would totally check them out if you spot them parked in the neighborhoods of Orange County to satisfy your flavorful needs of consumption! read more

Tried it last night at Mariners Church. The trucks there offer any meal for $5. I'm sure the church covers the minimum. I've tried a veggie burger and fries, Baja fish tacos and coconut tofu from different trucks in the past and it was all terrific and a great deal. I ordered the tofu bowl from Coconut last night. It had about 8 chunks of tofu, half an onion, a sprinkle of cabbage, two cups of rice and 2 tablespoons of some sort of sauce, maybe curry? Wasn't enough to figure out what it was. This truck came to my work yesterday... and I am not a fan of coconut, so I almost didnt look at their menu. I decided to take a look, and the pictures of their sandwiches sucked me in. Once I got down to the truck, I saw they had tacos. I love tacos. I decided to keep my original decision and get a sandwich. (Now I still want tacos). I ordered the BBQ Chicken sandwich and Taro Fries. Then, I became the most annoying food truck customer. A coworker of mine is doing the Whole30 challenge which is a Paleo (on steroids it sounds like) challenge for 30 days. She had asked me to get the price of just some shrimp - not a sandwich or tacos. I think I threw the girl off a little, and she told me they had shrimp plain with slaw.... I ended up just ordering them, being it was National Random Act of Kindness Day, I got her a treat. I said no slaw, because the slaw had vinegar which was fine, but also sugar. Then I said no toasted coconut on the shrimp because I wasnt sure... We had quite a few conversations back and forth about how about this, no this, ok that... The girl who took the orders was super nice, and completely patient with me. Im sure it caused extra work for the cooks in the truck, and they were really understanding and fine with it. SUPER customer service. Most trucks would have probably told me to get lost. Actually I had one truck refuse to make me something in the past because I didnt want one ingredient in my burrito.... so I ended up not ordering from them. I really appreciate how willing they were to accommodate this special order. And with a smile. AWESOME! I think in the future, I will get the tacos to try them... but my sandwich had no coconut - so dont be mislead by the name! The fries were good, I wasnt sure about the little side of sauce that came with them. I didnt love it, but I didnt hate it either. My sandwich had an amazing amount of chicken on it, and so much flavor. I dont know if this truck has ever been here before, but I do hope they come back! We were just at Bottle Logic and we needed some victuals. My wife went off-menu and got what I'll call "Semi-Loaded Fries": Loaded Fries minus pork plus grilled, marinated tofu. Score! Damn, these were good. I'm not sure how loaded they were (certainly not as much as we were), but that chili cilantro aioli definitely made the dish. They were a perfect accompaniment to our beers. Cheers, Coconut Truck! Vegetarians take note: it looks like they can make almost anything on their menu vegetarian. Also, everyone take note: their online menu is pretty outdated. It doesn't include all of the bowls that they have, let alone the fries. It does mention taro fries, though. I've been to Cambodia, by the way, and this truck doesn't really serve traditional Cambodian food, so don't expect that from Coconut Truck. Instead, expect delicious sandwiches, bowls, sides, etc. with a Cambodian twist. Why have I not heard of this truck before? I hope that I see them again soon, like at the Frida's showing of Don't Think I've Forgotten. read more

I love how they managed to create something different than the usual, Cambodian style sandwiches. YUM! I've had the coconut shrimp, ribeye steak and pulled pork (I like to try everything lol) and they were even better than I expected. I have to say my favorite was the coconut shrimp. Based on other reviews I'll probably be responded to in a short/angry way by the food truck owners, but my meal from this truck was disappointing. I got the chicken bowl for $10 and was supposed to have rice, slaw, crispy shallots, and coconut sauce. Slaw was one forkful. Chicken was thighs and the fat wasn't rendered all the way so it was chewy. I didn't get any shallots I could find and the bowl was small and basically 90% rice. Coconut sauce I'm pretty sure is just coconut water with fish sauce. It didn't have a vinegar or sour flavor to balance so tasted incredibly sweet. Hopefully this is good feedback for the owners and there are better bowls for that price pretty much anywhere you can get a chicken bowl. I posted pictures. My friend got the fries and said they were very good so an extra star for that! read more

The steak bowl tastes better than the picture makes it look! The coleslaw was fresh and a perfect balance of sweet and sour. The rice has an excellent amount of stickiness making it easy to eat with a fork, without leaving much in the bowl. Wow! This food truck certainly exceeded my expectations. I ordered a Surf and Turf bowl from The Coconut Truck this week, with half rice and half noodles. It was fantastic! The beef had this nice, lemongrass-infused marinate and was grilled to perfection. Granted, there were only a fistful of shrimp in the bowl, but the ones that were included had a nice coat of coconut flakes, which changed the flavor dynamic. Staff was friendly and accommodated my request of having both noodles and rice in the bowl. Would definitely check out again, if they roll around again soon! read more

But the last few times I stopped by they were out of product and could not serve me, which I was ok with as they were serving someone before me without a mask during covid.
