Do I love Coffee Bean? Generally, yes. Do I love the Northridge location? ...MEH. Here's the thing: customer service has improved, and the manager I see most often, Kevin, is a gracious host! He introduces himself to the regulars, makes everyone feel included, and seems like a nice guy. And the drinks they make are good, if not always consistent. My problem goes back to the same thing that was problematic 4 years ago - the app will not allow you to add on almond milk to an iced Americano, so you have to add the request in the comment field of the order. Nine times out of 10, it's fine. But depending on who's working, the staff will withhold your drink, as if you were trying to cheat the store out of $.80... Which is ridiculous. In today's episode of "I promise I'm not a liar, your app does NOT allow me to add on milk to an iced drink," I went so far as to show the baristas at the pickup counter on my phone. One of them saw I was right immediately and backed me up. The other begrudgingly accepted our testimony and said she would "tell them." ...Who is 'them?' Corporate? The web developer/app designers?? Kevin??? IDK. But the assumption that I, as a regular customer, am trying to pull a fast one on a big coffee chain is honestly insulting and I wish they would stop this. read more

Great vibe and comfy atmosphere. The CBTL is located in a somewhat large outdoor shopping center. I visited on a Saturday evening at about 8:30 pm. This is probably one of the best times to come. Parking in the big lot was easy as most of the other businesses were closed. There was still a small crowd here but everyone was spaced out well both indoor and outside. We sat outside. I was surprised how relaxing it was. The shared space had a cute dining area and a firepit. Live music from the restaurant next door also added to the fun ambiance. Customer service was outstanding. Nessa was extremely helpful, understanding, and personable. Can't thank her enough. As far as the prepared drinks go, I can't rate that as I only got a bottled drink. I was picking up an order that wasn't finished yet and I spent ten minutes watching all the workers seem lost on what to do. All except one person. Maria is the only thing keeping that place running! She was multitasking like a pro and managing her fellow employees like a pro. She needs to be a manager or get a raise because the circles she was running around the other employees was crazy. URGENT PLEASE READ!! They need to hire an exterminator and close down because the last two times I've come to study here, I have found BED BUGS climbing on my back pack. DO NOT SIT ON THE BENCH. I sat on the bench both times and ended up with bites on my legs and on my shoulder where my backpack strap sits. I've already inspected my home and there is no sign that they are coming from my home. I didn't realize the first time what the bug was but I got a picture after I saw them a second time. Stopped by this Coffee Bean so that I can get my daily $3 ice blended thanks to my app. Since there's a pandemic at this time, my ice blended was to go. This Coffee Bean looks clean and it looks like a nice place to have your drink. The customer service was fine and there's a lot of free parking in a shared lot. Several ice blended to choose. I went into the store to order a drink for my mom and I to enjoy...And the barista on bar made my iced sea salted caramel latte poorly. It was super light colored and there was barely any ice (I did not request light ice), and it was pretty much room temperature to the touch... I usually come here and the baristas are nice, but this one was extremely rude. I nicely asked if she could remake it and make sure the POWDER was fully dissolved (I'm not trying to eat a FUNDIP). And then she looked visibly upset and rolled her eyes at me. She aggressively poured my drink into the sink and remade another drink (which wasn't much better). And then handing it to me without making eye contact, I said "thank you I appreciate it." And as I walked away, she mocked me with a high pitched voice saying to her co-workers: "cAn YOu maKe SUrE tHe PoWder is DisSoLved?" This is horrible customer service and she should not be on bar with this attitude. Been coming to this location for years, the old management was MUCH better. More recently the entire team of employees are EXTREMELY rude and will argue with you if you tell them your order is incorrect. We order from the app every single time so we know what we're ordering and we have proof of exactly what we ordered but still the baristas love to argue and be rude. Today was the last day we will be coming to this location and possibly coffee bean in general. We order minimum of 2 drinks every single day but we're more than happy to take our business elsewhere. They really need to work on their customer service and service in general. You order on the app for convenience but when I go in to pick up our order at the time of pickup I always end up waiting and seeing people walk in order and get their drinks before I do.. pretty much defeats the purpose of ordering on the app.. don't recommend going to this location at all. Love The Coffee Bean And Tea Leaf! This CBTL in Northridge is fantastic. Close to CSUN, and in a huge lot with plenty of parking, it's always great to pop in to a CBTL when in the West Valley. Don't know if this location is changing its menu. I'd be interested to hear other Yelpers report on anything they know about upcoming changes. The Coffee Bean in Studio City is temporarily closed to do a revamp and will be reopening on June 8 with a new menu. For years, CBTL has been kosher and has a strong customer following from the Orthodox community. As of June 8, the Studio City CBTL will no longer be kosher (some select locations may stay kosher). Some kosher items will still be offered. Is Northridge doing the same? I have mixed feelings about this change. I'm Jewish but not Orthodox, and I admit that Starbucks has way better food. I'd enjoy a new menu that includes meat. However, I love the fact that the Orthodox community has been supported by CBTL with their hechsher (kosher rabbinical approval) up to now. Ultimately, I love the Coffee Bean and want to see them do what they need to to survive and be competitive! I don't know how disgruntled you have to be, but seems some of the baristas I have come across this place have misplaced issues that they don't seem to like what they are doing there.... but then again, that's me being judgmental cause I couldn't possibly know how good or bad their day is... but as a customer, you'd like to be able to get a coffee the way you like it without the attitude. Apparently, whole milk and nonfat milk (which cost the same) gets charged differently. By default, nonfat milk is used, but if you ask for whole milk, you get changed for it ( that's 1) so you agree to be charged. Then your coffee gets made and they use nonfat and you catch them on this ( nonfat / whole milk what's the difference is whispered ) it gets remade begrudgingly, you agree.... no difference right? Then why charge people for it....? Do the damn latte right in the first place... I paid for it anyway.... and don't complain about it. Just do your job right in the first place and read. read more

I just left this location and received the absolute worst service. I had a bogo offer. The only time I come to CBTL is when they have offers because they have removed so many items. Anyway, I asked her how the mango Ice blended was made. Years ago it was made with the naked juices which is why I asked. She condescendingly told me how it was made. I'm sorry, i had no clue that you used syrups. Then I had to pull up the coupon and the app wasn't working. So I had to shut my phone down and she proceeded to question if I had updated the app. Yes maam, I am aware of how to use my phone and my apps. I had also loaded the total to my acct to pay on one motion when I scanned my QR code. It showed no balance. I had over 12 dollars. They were so busy they weren't taking orders often as the cashier was making drinks. After waiting 10 minutes and still no line movement I left. Wanted a change from Starbucks so I came to coffee bean horrible mistake! I ordered 2 mocha frappes and 3 iced glasses of water because it was extremely hot. The cashier said it was extra for water which was fine when I got my order I only got one cup and when I told the barista I was missing my waters and she got mad and asked if I was sure.
