Got here with 10 minutes to close Wednesday 9/18/24, and received excellent service from DIANA. Diana was a total sweetheart. Such warm and friendly service--even for the guy that came in 2 minutes before closing. As always, dining room was spotless. Location was quiet and tranquil. Parking in rear. Indoor dining room is small but clean and cozy, and outdoor seating is available. As always, my Americano was excellent. 5 stars. read more

It is Christmas season so my favorite seasonal flavors like cookie butter, white chocolate, peppermint, gingerbread, and eggnog are all here to welcome you. The woman behind the register was not in a very festive mood this evening as she did not smile once, I feel for her as I know working behind the register is a soul crushing job. My warm cookie butter latte was delicious, creamy , sweet and very comforting with those cinnamon and butter notes. My boyfriend got an Affogato frozen frappe with fresh whipped cream on top and it was actually very, very tasty. The seating inside is very cramped and close together, but they do offer some outdoor seating outside. I felt like this location in particular is a bit sardine can like but the plus side is that they do offer free fresh filtered water, a bathroom and they had a nice selection of pastries, cake, pops, and other baked goodies as well as rice Krispies, and milk bar products. I find TCBTL drinks on the sweet side so I usually go there for a treat more often than for a regular daily caffeine intake, and this visit offered a perfect sweet fix. My favorites are either the mocha or vanilla ice blended drinks--I prefer to get less ice and the baristas are always happy to oblige. The "light" versions of the drinks taste very much like the regular versions, so they are a viable choice for somewhat reduced calories. The inside of the store is a bit narrow so one has to be mindful of other patrons working on laptops etc as you navigate through. read more

She was nice, friendly, welcoming, professional, and customer service oriented. I received an email from Coffee Bean offering me a free drink for my birthday. So, I came to the Toluca Lake Coffee Bean around the end of May/beginning of June. For whatever reason, the offer was only emailed to me and was not added to my app. When she asked me if it was on my app, I thought that I would just have to forego the offer. But, she said that is alright and told me that she was going to take care of me. She really made my day!!! You have a true keeper at this location. I visited here this week, I ordered a latte and the barista forgot to add the coffee shot in the drink..Not a joke.

Stopped in for a drink and a bite. The only breakfast items they really have are placed out in the display. So if it's not there, they are out. We didn't go super late but they seemed to be out of a lot of stuff for a weekend. Anyways I got the cold brewed peach tea. And a bacon breakfast sandwich. I think I wanted the sausage or ham one originally but I was out of luck. Food and drinks came out quickly and we found a table in front, partially shaded to enjoy our meal. Food was alright - they heat it up for you. I really enjoyed the cold brewed tea - very strong and flavorful. My friend got regular peach iced tea and it was definitely lighter in color and probably not as good. I would definitely get the cold brewed tea again. read more

I like this Coffee Bean even though it's a smaller location and the space where the line forms is a little on the narrow side. Located in good ol' Toluca Lake along its main drag, Riverside Drive. I like the cold drinks myself. If it's not an Ice Blended, I will go for a pineapple sweet tea. So good, so refreshing. It comes on the sweet side but that's the way I like my sweet tea. Heavy on the sugar. So nice on a Summer day. The Ice Blended is such a classic drink. Cant go wrong with any of their flavors although I usually go with the classics. Mocha or Vanilla. It's so good. Fantastic location! Very clean and well kept, great staff and my blended mocha was on point! Did you know that the Coffee Bean invented iced coffee? That's what my sister, who now lives near this Coffee Bean, told me. So I tried the Iced Coffee and it was pretty amazing! The service was great and the coffee was fantastic the few times I stopped in during my trip. The seasonal Pumpkin Spice coffee is very flavorful and I even bought a bag of grounds to bring back home to Milwaukee! I definitely prefer Coffee Bean over other popular chains and hope that one day they will migrate into the Midwest :) read more

The best part about this place is the patio. I find myself here especially on Saturday mornings planning out my day early in the morning. Right in the heart of charming Toluca Lake. This place is also awesome for people watching. I remember seeing Megan Fox (yes, that Megan fox) ordering a latte here once. I used to LOVE the CBTL more than any other chain. However now that so many of them have closed the stores that are open are terrible. The service is awful, which I could handle if the coffee was good. The coffee at CBTL is beyond sub par. It's tepid, bland and over priced. The remaining CBTL should call it quits. Sad to see them go, but the slow death dance is killing any brand equity they may have had. read more

My friend & I took long on deciding what to get but the gentleman that worked here last night on Nov. 4th, 2015, didn't catch his name but he was patient and sweet to us and answered our questions! UPDATE:11/5 I am updating my review because CB reached out to me to make things right and Manager Amanda apologized for not being able to help. If you have an issue, there's no person to call you have to email the support team, but Amanda reached out to Corporate and even though I did not write an email, they, Corp, reached out to me via email and phone. They are giving me a refund for the double charge. I really hope they replace their antiquated old machine which does not have a chip reader, only swipe and it's still a mystery how a declined card was actually not declined and despite no PW entered or not signed for went through. I do appreciate Amanda's effort as she called me again today to make sure that Corp was reaching out. Use cash there just to be safe!! Original Post: So a week ago I went to the Coffee Bean on Riverside Dr to get some gift cards and got a coffee drink. I swiped my B of A debit card for $27.89. It said card was declined. I just had used it 5 minutes earlier at Sharkys and it worked fine.Tried again, declined... So I used a WF card now. It went through. I didn't think about it till I checked my B of A balance and... the 1st payment DID go through, so I got charged twice. I went back the next day to show them. They said, wait 2 more days to see if the charge is dropped. It wasn't. I waited a week cuz I'm busy like everyone. I just went there now showing both charges. They said there's nothing they can do and to call corporate. The manager Amanda was unhelpful and didn't care. The worker Patrick was very nice, and was very sorry but he had no power. If it was just a cup of Joe, I wouldn't care, but almost 28 dollars is too much to not credit me. They could choose to credit my card, or even give me a coffee card with equal money they took from me, but nope. This might be the perfect coffee joint to hang out in except for one glaring deal breaker. They play the music too loud. Waaaaay too loud for my taste. I like to get into some serious reading during my caffeine ingestions but they have the music blaring so loudly here that that it makes it totally impossible to concentrate. In fact, I'm sitting in here right now and it's going on just like I'm telling you.....some jazzy, noodly guitar and vibe monstrosity one step up from an Otis elevator compilation. My reading materials remain in my backpack, calling to be set free! Sometimes I really like the music they're playing---in fact I've heard some great alternative rock in here that I wasn't familiar with. But it's all too loud for the venue. This isn't a new issue. The loud music has been going on here for years. Great employees, fun Toluca Lake people, even a Miley Cyrus sighting one day. But I avoid it for the reasons I've stated.
