Very cute. Food was good. Simple diner food which was exactly what I wanted. Wasn't great either. Server was so nice. Overall great experience,however the one thing that bummed me out was that it's ****cash only**** I didn't know going in. Didn't read reviews, didn't notice any signage. Our food came, along with the bill and I put my card in the table as we started eating, and someone walked by and let me know that. I never have cash, like never. I had leftover cash from paying a cleaning lady and it was literally rough to pay and tip (less than I usually do...about 18% was able to be given). Crazy that I had just enough. Crazy to do a Yelp Review for a place you've eaten at since 2002. Glad it's still here and thriving. All new faces since my last visit and they were all eager to help with anything we needed. Service has always been consistent. I enjoy looking at the menu but my order doesn't change. The only thing that might change is my side order of pancakes or wheat toast. I get David's Scrambler with potatoes, I like substituting spinach for the bell peppers. The potatoes are always cooked to the perfect crisp. Been coming here for years. People are always friendly. Food is fast, if not weekends, And delicious. Its a cash only and kid friendly. You'll get seated faster if your party is only one or 2. A friend brought me here. This was on my list to try. We were seated right away. This was between 10-12 pm on a week day a good time to go. I was told it's very busy on the weekends. The service was good and everyone very friendly. I ordered the Veggie scramble with their veggie chorizo, it comes with potatoes and toast. My friend ordered their usual Cajun scramble and we split blueberry pancakes. Everything was really delicious and generous portions. I had their butter pecan coffee also Plenty of seating booths and at the counter. Parking on the street. Again it was a weekday so parking was easy to find but weekends might be different. I wanted Coffee Cup for breakfast but they don't take cards, so I used my debit card at a Vons to get a cup of coffee and so I could pull out cash. When I sat down at Coffee Cup, the hostess asked me to get rid of my coffee, the one I got so I could pull out cash to eat there. Ridiculous. I still ate there, even ordered their coffee. (Which I would have anyways because I am a coffee drinker.) Amber and Carol and the rest of the team were great! And breakfast was delicious as usual. Owners get 1 star for making it so hard to be a customer. I'll go to Potholder, Chuck's, Breakfast Republic, or Starling instead from now on. This place gets packed, so come an hour before closing when the wait isn't as long, and bring cash! It's worth it. One of the best diners I've ever been to. Ambiance is simple and homey. Service was great. David scrambler - 5/5 so filling and worth the price. The bread came already buttered. Everything was cooked well together. Came out pretty fast as well. Socal omelette - 5/5 simple and delicious. Perfectly cooked. English muffin well buttered and toasted. Both dishes we ordered potato's. The potato's were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. They also provide you different hot sauces. But the best part of our experience was our server David. He would come to all the tables to refill our coffee and water, and make sure our meal exceeded our expectations. Friendliest server I've ever had. The other servers were nice as well. We have been regulars for years and loved this place but something has been off for a while. We've given it a handful of tries since, but most of the staff are just not nearly as outgoing and welcoming as before. And there's now a certain lackadaisical or at least dispirited or disinterested attitude that you can pick up on, if you were a customer both before and immediately after the pandemic. During today's visit we learned that there was an ownership change. I'm not sure when, but I'm guessing that's it. Today's visit will be my last. The restaurant was not more than a third full on this Sunday morning at this time, and we took counter seats, which is something we have sometimes (several dozen) done over many years. As I say, this place has been off for at least a few months. When we realized it was taking much longer than normal to get waited on, we started a countdown clock. Sixteen minutes! Not until José -- always friendly and helpful -- walked by 15 minutes into this ordeal did ANYONE other than the bus/coffee person (who brought us our coffee 5 min after we arrived) even acknowledge that we were there. And no one said "Good Morning," "Welcome," "Be with you in a few minutes," or even look at us. Plenty of staff rushed by but it was as if there was no wait staff assigned to the counter at all. A couple who was close by at the counter also told us they also felt service was slow. Mind you, the woman who I learned later is the new manager was merely standing at cash register midway down the bar not even twenty feet away the whole time. I took her to be a new employee who was not permitted to wait on customers or I would have flagged her down. And the person who I later learned is the new owner was standing next to her for ten of those minutes. Also, part of our meal (toast) was not delivered with the rest of the food, and we were told it would be coming, but it never arrived. When we had finished eating, our waitress was nowhere to be found (again), so we had to flag down another to get our bill. It's nice that they have the ability to pay by credit card (including your phone via QR code printed on check) now, which we took advantage of for the first time, but beware of a 3% surcharge. The manager, as we had seen her do with the few other counter customers who had finished up before us, immediately came over to clear plates. "I hope everything was OK," she said. I told her of our disappointment, the particular issues of our visit, the fact that we have long been coming, etc. Her response: also disappointing. No explanation, no apology, no "sorry to hear that," or the like. Just "Oh." read more

We ordered an orange juice and coffee.. orange juice was really biter and I love a good orange juice with breakfast so I was disappointed. Coffee they had regular and hazelnut but only half & half creamer which ruined my chance of getting coffee because I need some added flavor other than milk. My mom got coffee though and said it tasted burn so water had to do for our visit and they have crushed ice which was a plus. We got a Pancake combo plate and the buttermilk pancakes were buttery gold! Eggs were fluffy! Our other plate was the Skinny and the potatoes were so crispy and flavorful! So happy they tasted good because it's rare u find good home style potatoes that aren't burn. Food was an A++, Service was great A+, place was clean and very affordable! We will definitely be back!
