This place is 5 Stars all the way around. Came in for breakfast on a Monday morning. The place looked small from the outside, but it was really spacious, they were a handful of customers and we sat ourself in a both next to one of the huge windows the gave us a lovely view. I had the breakfast burrito with chorizo plus potatoes. I was served very hot. Plenty of flavor and the potatoes were excellent. They served Boyd's coffee, which is the best coffee ever. Servers were so nice, and very helpful. It's cash only, which I didn't care for but if it keeps the prices down (the prices are extremely reasonable) I'm ok with that. Everyone I was with wants to comeback to try other menu items. read more

I used to come here often years ago in my college days and this was my first time back since then and I'm happy to report that the quality of service and food has remained excellent! This is the quintessential diner with a counter for those who want quick service, booths for small-medium groups, and tables for those who are a large party. This time I ordered the veggie omelette and it was delicious! They have lots of vegetarian options as well as many meat options (full disclosure: I am vegetarian). They have the best breakfast potatoes in town, so I would definitely recommend choosing that as your side. Great for families, friends, or dining by yourself! Happy to continue supporting Coffee Cup Cafe over the years! Logistical tips/heads up: - They are cash only, but they have an ATM available if you need to get cash (I think there is a fee to use though) - For parking, I would recommend parking in the neighborhood on Grand, Vermont, or Loma (basically anywhere in the residential area behind the cafe or across the street). It can get pretty busy on the weekends - They have a clipboard where you write down your name and party size, so you won't have to wait for a hostess to greet you/put your party down read more

Extremely disappointed in this place. Used to be such a great cool spot but, now with new ownership everything has changed. The fact that there was not a long line or wait to be seated was the first indication. Also, the staff is pretty much all different, the host is definitely not the friendliest. There is no longer a self serving coffee section while you wait & not only have the prices gone up, the food portion has minimized, half the portion of potatoes & instead of 2 slices of bread you now only get 1. It's definitely not the same, the vibe is totally off & for the high prices, not worth it. Unfortunately, we will not be back. read more

I was looking up breakfast spots in Long Beach and I came across the Coffee Cup Café! It is super cute inside and everyone is so nice and attentive. Since it was our first time we asked for recommendations and our server suggested the huevos rancheros. I ordered them and they were so delicious!! I got them with both red and green sauce. Not bad a place for a quick bite, diner food style. Maybe the millennium in me just appreciates the vanilla lattes over standard, diner coffee or avo toast versus breakfast burritos. That said, it's decent food. But I'd rather walk over to the breakfast bar down the street read more

Great breakfast spot with BOMB hot sauces! We visited early Saturday morning with no wait. Service is friendly and to the point. We ordered the chorizo omelette and French toast combo. The chorizo omelette was generously stuffed with chorizo and bell peppers. It was on the heavier side, but still good. The side of potatoes were crispy and might've been even tastier than the omelette. The star of the show was definitely the three different types of hot sauce provided at each table. They were all so flavorful and had a great kick. Overall, we would come back but probably try other dishes. Cash only! read more

We were greeting by a really kind employee going in and it really set the tone for the rest of our meal today. The prices of the food is very affordable, but the taste of each meal we've had today was priceless. I had the tuna melt and it was the perfect amount of cheesiness and was packed with great flavor, both from the bread itself and the tuna. My friends had this chicken quesadilla and the cheese was perfectly melted and it also came with a few avocado pieces. Ultimately a great affordable breakfast spot in Long Beach, would highly recommend and definitely going back in the future. read more

Service was very quick. The staff was all overly nice and super helpful. My husband got the chorizo tacos and I got the feta omelette. We loved both. The only criticism I have is the artichokes and the feta omelette need to be smaller, but everything else was amazing! read more

Ok wow. Came here with some local friends who raved about the place...and boy did they introduce me to a gem of a joint. Their rotating coffee selection...you may not know whatchu gonna get on a particular day but I got the hazelnut coffee and boy do I crave it now. It's just simple black coffee but with aromatic hazelnut notes. I'm not talking hazelnut syrup or flavored sweetener. I'm talking hazelnut...essence. Every gulp was black hazelnutty goodness. Got the soyrizo scramble with egg whites, floor tortillas on the side, side of refried beans, grilled jalapeños chilles, side of their red enchilada sauce (I'd drink this if I could, it's velvety and salty and oh so dreamy to dunk your breakfast potatoes in). The potatoes, oh the potatoes! Crispy, salty, crunch (even when packed in a boxer container, they did not get soggy at all!). All these little extra sides all came highly recommended to me and it's been a few weeks since we ordered for take-out and sat in a shady grassy part of a park overlooking the waters on PCH. I gotta admit, I've been dying to go back ever since. I wish to sit down to brunch outside while people watching next time. The joint looked so crowded but I WILL BE BACK! read more

I have to say I was completely blown away by this little cafe!! While the wait was long, it was our fault for coming on a Saturday at 11, but the wait was worth it. We got to enjoy coffee and chat while we waited. Once we were seated, we ordered pretty quickly and the food took less than 15 minutes to come and they were PACKED. My chorizo omelette was delicious and such a big portion. They filled the omelette with chorizo and sautéed veggies. The potatoes were crispy and the bread, perfectly toasted and buttered. I even had breakfast for the next day! I'll definitely be coming back to try other dishes! read more

We used to come here a lot, then stopped mainly because we prefer good coffee with breakfast. There used to be issues with other food too, for example, if you wanted bacon you'd have to order it cooked on both sides, or you'd get one side completely un cooked. We went with friends this morning after 4 years of not going. We were shocked to see hardly anyone inside. The coffee had improved. It wasn't fancy, but it also wasn't watery like it used to be. It was decent! Not bad. The bacon was still undercooked, but at least both sides were fried. The potatoes were delicious as well as the eggs and other fixings. At our table we had eggs Benedict, a scrambled eggs platter with bacon, carnitas eggs and one order of oatmeal. They oddly serve one slice of toast. ‍ There is only street parking. We found a spot right away. It's a solid option now that they've seemingly revised issues, and we'll go back another day. read more

This is the perfect place when you want want a cozy breakfast plate. It's always so hard to pick which plate. So this time we went with main plates and split a banana nut pancake. Obviously can't forget the vanilla drip coffee. Parking- all street parking and a small lot on the oposite corner. Waiting- they have a few chairs outside but even better a little boutique store right next door. The only downside is remembering to bring cash. Otherwise you need to use their ATM cash to pull cash out. Not a huge fan of using cash during COVID times. read more

Sat morning and breakfast are made to go together..Coffee Cup Cafe is the perfect place to enjoy this perfect combo. I ordered a three egg scramble with ham...comes with potatoes and 2 slices of bread. Food was fantastic, service was very friendly and quick, and the atmosphere was really nice. Small and inconspicuous on the outside, large and delicious on the inside! Seated quickly on a Saturday late morning. A lot of options on the menu... an excellent breakfast for a hungry family. Our waitress was super nice and they have decent prices. I loved the breakfast sandwich (like a BLT with an egg!), and service was great. A new favorite breakfast spot! read more

I came here with a good friend of mine. We were going kayaking, but needed a good breakfast to get us going. We decided to eat somewhere in Long Beach, and found this place after looking it up on my Yelp app. Due to Covid-19, they have several tables lined up on the sidewalk in one row. It was thankfully a cool sunny day, so it was comfortable sitting outside. After perusing the menu, I decided to go with a turkey sausage omelette. I got it with a side of home fries, and a cup of coffee. The omelette was great, filling, but did not leave me comatose. The home fries were made with a nice crispy texture. And the coffee gave me the kick of energy I was looking for. I dock one star because this place is cash only. It is a huge pet peeve of mine, and an inconvenience as I almost never carry cash. Good thing my friend had cash on hand, so we were good to go. On a more positive note, the customer service was great. The waiter kept checking up on us, and we were content with service overall. read more

The wait staff was very kind and attentive. Unfortunately the food is below average. The omelette I ordered was gooey and seemed to be put together in a rush. The potatoes and chorizo on our other plate were also both undercooked and just seemed to lack any sort of pride in presentation or taste. I wouldn't recommend it, which sucks because the environment is laid back and the wait staff like I mentioned was doing their duty. It's the guys in the kitchen that need to brush up on their skills and put some love into the food. Flavorless omelette. Sad chorizo tacos. And mostly-water coffee. Yikes....Also it's cash only. So expect to pay an extra couple dollars to use the ATM in the back. There should be a big cash only sign right when you enter if that's how you guys are gonna do it. Don't just share that info with the guests when you bring the check. Won't be returning. Best of luck to you though! I hope this review makes it's way to the kitchen and they look up "How to make an omelette" on YouTube. It's that easy. read more

I loved it and would probably order again on my next visit. My wife had the American plate which was your classic eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sourdough toast combo. High quality ingredients elevated it beyond your typical diner food. Drinks were great too. I had their house made bloody mary which had a nice kick to it. My wife had their brunch version of a Corpse Reviver cocktail. After our meals were done we finished with an Irish coffee since everyone was ordering them. Perfect service, relaxing atmosphere, and delicious food will definitely have me returning very soon! Parking is free for 2 hours at the nearby garage on 3rd and is a very short walk. The closer garage on Broadway is not free. You can make restaurant reservations on their website but it wasn't needed when we went.

The menu has a ton of really detailed options, each drink with its own depth. The menu changes seasonally but what doesn't change is the smoked old fashioned - a must-order. They smoke your drink in a glass container using applewood chips; it's quite a show and it also does make the drink much more enjoyable. Ask the bartender and they can also help guide you to a drink - I've done it a couple of times and always pleasantly surprised. Next up, the food! The hummus was very flavorful and paired with an amazing fluffy pita bread. The truffle fries were solid but the plate was HUGE, definitely needs a friend to share. The Nashville wings are the star of the show. I cannot stress this enough, this is worth a DRIVE for. The seasoning really does remind you of Howlin' Rays (the highest compliment) and the chicken is extremely crispy yet insanely juicy. The pickles and ranch that it comes with pairs so well. Do note that they are tossing it in pork fat, which enhances the depth but also makes it a little greasy at the end. I also wished they'd warn you this and offer to order it without it; especially for those who don't eat pork or for those trying to cut some calories. There's a happy hour menu too!!! I asked for a specific brand in my jalapeño margarita, and the bartender used the one I had specifically said I didn't want (Casa Amigos). I watched him make it and had to ask our server to confirm what was in the drink. To their credit, they remade it with no issues, but it's worth paying attention if you're particular about your spirits. The staff was friendly and welcoming each time I stopped in, and while service ran a bit on the slower side at moments, they stayed attentive enough that it never felt like a real issue.

I also think that their menu is pretty expensive for their portions and offerings. I know they were running low on items, but the toppings were definitely skimpy. I personally chose the blue jasmine matcha as a huge fan of jasmine flavors. the drink is matcha-forward, in a very pleasant way, with subtle floral notes from the jasmine. parking is your typical LB-parking situation -- street parking wherever you can find any! we got lucky and found a spot in the adjacent neighborhood street. this cafe is conveniently located next to a filipino bakery, which we also enjoyed with our drinks!
