I can't provide a detailed review of the food as we didn't have any. We were extremely early for our dinner at Mister A's. Decided this would be a nice place to grab a few drinks. We sat outside on the patio area which was extended to the side walk. Staff had masks on at all times. The menu was not electronic. I had their killer Queen earl grey infused vodka, lemon, lavender, bitters, honey. It was a tasty little cocktail. It was nice to sip on while we waited not too strong or sweet. Just had the right mix of bitters and tart from lemon with barely a kiss of sweet from the honey. My friend had a beer and some Jameson. They did not have Jameson 18 which was what he wanted but took what they had. Today I had a very nice brunch at the Corner Drafthouse with friends. We were doing our virtual American Cancer Society walk in the park nearby, and didn't have reservations anywhere, so were not sure where we would be able to have brunch. We lucked out, as the Corner Drafthouse has a brunch menu, mimosas, has patio seating, and had no wait. We sat out on the patio, which was very comfortable and spacious for our group of 5. They had bottles of champagne for $15, which was perfect because we were able to have mimosas to share. The carafe of juice that came with the champagne was super small, and kind of funny to divide up with the champagne, as it just slightly colored the champagne, but it all worked out. They have a small brunch menu, but you can also order from the bar menu and the lunch menu, so there was plenty for everyone. I ordered the chilaquiles with avocado. It was very good. I like how they had different choices for add ons. Service was great, as our server came around regularly and was very friendly. I have been for happy hour in the past as well and also had a good experience. It is a good place to check out if you are in that part of town. read more

I wish I would have gotten everyone's name who made the experience exceptional. Bri was a personable and polished representative for the establishment. We had a good laugh on my newly discovered and fluke of success on food photography. Ha! When you think about it... it is a bit hostile. The candidness and communication from our server (conversation about a mask a patron gave him... The location is comfortable, clean, lively... and the attention to detail has to be one of the first pages in the employee handbook. I was surprised at the quality and care that went into what I ordered. Incredibly impressed. I've ordered an ahi tuna poke stack from at least 18 places. And by far.. the most visually appealing, palate pleasing, and fresh example of what you would want it to be. No need to flag down a server and ask for more wonton chips... they have you covered. To solidify the excellent experience we had... I'll share that my friend's glass of Rosé spilled prior to receiving our food (4-5 tablespoons) and the gentleman who wasn't our waiter, with no hesitation, mentioned he would be bringing her a matched amount. And he did. WOW! The focus was on the experience and not $ and the experience was top tier! It was weird that usually they give you 6 pieces but the waitress said that they do it by weight.... Weird. Side salad was good :) not soggy leaves. My friend really liked the margarita but I thought they both tasted the same haha +1 stars Price of Food: Cocktails felt a little expensive but standard for downtown San Diego. We came here on Saint Patrick's weekend for the corned beef special and it was literally 80% fat. I do not recommend ordering it. Literally so slimy and the weirdest corned beef I ever had. The taste was good, but the texture was literally smothered with fat, and when I mentioned it to, Stephanie our waitress, she said oh ha ha I don't know how corned beef is supposed to be and that was the end of the conversation. I can't wait to make this my "Cheers" bar/hangout. I just moved around the corner [pun intended] and from the few times I've been here it's been pretty solid. I love that its a Padres bar and that they have my favorite beer on tap. Staff is friendly. They have indoor as well as outdoor seating with multiple outdoor standing patio heaters for each table. Outdoor seating is also beautifully lit up across the patio. Food is tasty too, nice big portions! With it being so close to Balboa Park, on certain days such as pride weekend, charity walks/runs, etc. I would highly suggest you make reservations. A couple things I would recommend to "The Corner Drafthouse" - Stay open until midnight throughout the weekend not just Saturday's & Sunday's. Get on Opentable to make reservations easier. read more

This is my go to place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We generally just walk in when we feel like not cooking. Food is always good and consistent. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This might be the only beer bar in Banker's Hill. It might be the only place in Banker's Hill that shows football games AND with the sound on! Walking in, the place is very classy and beautifully decorated. The bar area circles around 70 taps and there is a ton of seating away from the bar. I sat away from the bar but still was able to watch and hear the game because there are TVs in the dining room. The menu was pretty awesome. At the time I came, around 1pm, the brunch AND the lunch menu was available. I ordered the tri tip beef dip and nachos. The short rib grinder was amazing being drenched in the au jus dip. The sweet potato fries were a compliment to the sandwich, especially dipping them in maple syrup. The nachos were showered in pork, beans, and tasty nacho cheese. The food as a whole was better than I could ever expect. The beer menu was impressive in the sense that they had 70 beers, but unimpressive at the selection of beers. All but 3 of the beers were under 7.0% alcohol. The beers that were over 7.0%, only came in 10oz tulip glasses instead of 16oz pints. It would have been nice to have a higher alcohol beer so I don't have to drink 2-3 to get a buzz on. The entire staff was very polite and our server checked on us just the right amount of times and even gave us some caramel sauce to dip the fries in, which was an awesome recommendation that she didn't have to give. Yes, friendly staff and amazing brunch! We had a birthday party for 14 people. Yes, 14 people and they were amazing with us! This place is located in Banker's Hill and one block from Balboa Park. I can see myself hanging out at Balboa Park then grabbing one of 70 draft beers here. On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, it was all about of the mimosas. FYI, a 3.95% surcharge will be added to each bill to help cover increasing operations and labor cost. This is not the tip, so prep accordingly. Also, brunch is Saturday & Sunday 10am-3pm. 18 bucks get you a bottle of brut sparkling wine and 3 flavors of juice (pineapple, orange, cranberry). Bubbly to start the am? Thank you! I also wanted to grab an old-fashioned cocktail here. It was crafted well, and they even gave me an extra luxardo cherry in my drink. Score! Those luxardo cherries are tasty and premium, not gonna lie. I got two of them, the bourbon used was smokey and smooth. I got the drafthouse sliders to start (3 sliders with secret sauce, swiss, caramelized onions, and bacon). The secret sauce looked like a thousand island type, but it was tasty for sure. The slider buns were not soggy, and the beef patties were cooked beautifully. I prefer my bacon a little crispier than what I had here, but it still tasted salty and savory. For my main course, I got the fried chicken and waffles (crispy buttermilk chicken, bacon herb waffle, bacon strips, bacon rum maple syrup). Lots of bacon flavor here! Topped with a rosemary sprig, it was a nice herbal touch and it looked amazing. The fried chicken was not heavily breaded (thank you drafthouse) and it was hot to touch. Snap, crunchety, crispity chicken coming through my mouth with every bite. It was a pretty sound with each bite for sure. The waffles were FLUFFY! My breakfast soul was feeling that waffle bliss. So many things sounded amazing on the brunch menu but considering that we were there at the end of brunch, both my boyfriend and I chose lunch items over breakfast. As a vegetarian, my boyfriend's options are more limited but he was happy to see the impossible burger on the menu and ordered that with upgrade truffle parmesan fries. He said the fries tasted fine but he didn't feel like there was enough added to flavor to warrant the extra $2 charge. I debated between the short rib grinder au jus and grilled chicken club for awhile before deciding to go with the chicken sandwich. Since it comes with both ham and bacon and I don't eat pork, I asked for them on the side and my dogs were very happy when I offered it to them as a peace offering for leaving them at home. The standard fries that are served with the sandwich are thick cut seasoned fries and were wonderful! The only issue I had with the meal is the delay on getting my side of ranch to the table. As usual, I ordered it with my meal but it wasn't served with it. I asked our waitress to bring it when she brought the food to the table but it took so long to get that my boyfriend was almost done eating before I started. The massive beer list neatly organized by style (IPA, sour, stout etc) caught my eye.. I believe there are over 70 beers on draft! A lot of international beers too. Most range about $7-9/glass. The menu itself is typical bar fare.. burgers and such. I was trying to be slightly healthier, so I ordered the mahi sandwich which was slightly lack luster and more bread than anything. The fish was thin and needed some sort of good remoulade sauce. There was some flavor in the toppings.. but just not enough. Overall I felt it to be bland.. and for $15 I wanted more satisfaction.
