Hands down the absolute best veggie omelette ever! My daughter and I have been wanting to try this place and finally made it out this morning. Everyone working was incredibly nice plus our waitress kept our drinks refilled well and checked on us often. The food... OMG! The veggie omelette is a must try! I got it without the mushrooms and added bacon and I couldn't believe they used real fresh veggies. Most places give you tiny chopped up frozen veggies but theirs was nice big chunks of fresh veggies. Great fThe hash brown casserole was completely different than most places, much cheesier, and it was phenomenal! My daughter got pancakes and sausage and both were incredible too. My husband and I decided to eat here last Saturday and the experience was terrible. When we came in, the blond girl that was taking people's name and number (if there was a wait) or seating people was not nice at all. So we were able to walk right in and sit at a table that need to be cleaned. The hostess came back and wiped the table down and then nothing... nobody came to take our order. We were right by the front door so we could see patrons coming and going, being seated and having their order taken. After about 20-25 mins of seeing others come in and be tended to, I got up and asked the rude blond girl if we could have our order taken. She was very dismissive and before I even finished talking she cut me off and said "I'll send somebody" and went back to what she was doing. So after that someone did come and take our order but they didn't come back to check on us. Then for some reason another server started up with us and brought us more coffee so i asked him for our check. He brought it and never came back for it. After about 15 mins I just got up and took payment to him. He was nice and the 1st server was nice but both were not attentive. By the end of it we had been there about an hour and a half, most of that just waiting for basic service. We almost walked out a couple times, I wish we had. The sausage was terrible. And the biscuits were not light and fluffy, they were dense and spongy. My husband said he liked the grits. Over all I would go to little town of lieper's fork but eat here at your own risk. I do not recommend. A restaurant needs at least 2 things to be successful: good food and good wait staff. If there were more than 2 restaurants in this little town, this place would be out of business already. read more

This place wasn't bad if you can get past the cleanliness and service. You walk in and this place is very small and therefore it is seat yourself. Tables are dirty and the ones that are "clean" have had a quick wipe over and are left with a sticky residue. Servers seemed unhappy and uninterested in helping tables. Asked for refills and ketchup twice and ended up getting neither. Entire restaurant had 4 other parties inside and we were unattended to. For food though it was very good and tasted fresh. We ordered a BLT with avocado, the ingredients were all fresh and came with a lot of bacon and avocado. The mac and cheese side was average, nothing special. The screaming demon was very messy and fell apart due to the oiliness of the sauce but had great flavor! Was spicy but not overwhelmingly so. The fries were good, cooked nice and crispy. Overall, if you can look past the restaurant itself and aren't concerned about inattentive service The Country Boy is worth trying. read more

They recently sold, and the new owners changed the menu. The new menu and food is not good, less quality, less quantity and higher prices. We loved the charm and quality of the Country Boy Restaurant, but now it has lost its charm and good food. Country Boy is BACK!!!! It's a Christmas miracle! For years, we've enjoyed driving to Leipers to have breakfast here until the BBB regime took over. Glad they are gone and now the new, local owners have brought back the Country Boy we all know and love!! Seeing the blueberry pancakes back on the menu brought tears to my eyes and joy to my stomach. My hubs meal had perfectly cooked eggs and a biscuit that would make any memaw proud. The service was friendly and attentive, just like it used to be. I'm so happy that we can, once again, take our weekend drive to our favorite place to have a wonderful breakfast. Considering The Country Boy is about the only game in town for breakfast, they kind of 'do the business'. Prepare to wait for a table, but not long. One of the most impressive things about this restaurant is how it is run. It truly is a well oiled machine with everybody doing their part, nobody sloughing off and nobody waiting to be told what to do next. The restaurant itself has a long and varied history which is placed on or near most tables in a plexiglass holder which is good because the service isn't super speedy. It is however, worth the wait. The breakfasts are superb, each of us had different items, The Backwoods Bennie, The Garden Omelette, The Hillsboro and one another but we can't remember the name now. Everything was fresh and flavorful just the way a breakfast should be to start the day. We did go for lunch also the day before and had the Fried chicken special. We all enjoyed it BUT they did have something sweet in everything. The batter on the onion rings, the batter on the chicken and something else that we remarked on but has since slipped our minds. So, IF you don't want sweet stuff added, please check with them first. The fried chicken was delicious apart from the hint of sweet that kept popping up and seeming out of place - at least to this Southern TN family. I was not expecting much of this restaurant just by viewing the outside, but it was PHENOMENAL. I got the veggie omelet and it was awesome! I had to ask what the hash brown casserole was because I've never heard of that where I'm from. IT WAS AMAZING. I was also told that the orange juice was really good... and I didn't think orange juice could be good... but it was the best orange juice I have ever tasted. 10/10 would recommend. Gave up the chips and paid an extra $1.99, and all I got were 5 small barely cooked non-homemade onion rings. The BLT had 3 pieces of bacon, but they were sticking out the side when delivered to make it look like there was a lot of bacon. The hot ham and cheese had 1 thin slice if each ham and cheese. About 40 minutes from Nashville drive. It was well worth the trip. Leipers fork is like taking a trip back in time to a quiet and older Tennessee, which is what we wanted. We were supposed to have a 20 minute wait which really was only 5 minutes. Super friendly wait staff. GET THE BACKWOODS BENNIE WITH BISCUIT AND HASHBROWN CASSEROLE. I get it with grits which were okay, but I bet money the hashbrown casserole is way better. The grits weren't too salty though which I appreciated so I could salt them to my liking. Used to be our favorite place to eat in Leipers Fork and we hadn't visited since owner change. Went in at 12:30 on a Friday and saw several empty tables and told there would be 90 min wait for a table for 8. I even said we would do two tables for 4 but still 90 mins. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside across the street and had drinks and waited for 1 hr 25 mins. Went back in to check and still several empty tables and told to come back in 5 mins. Got seated and saw the new menu is now very limited and then realized they were closing at 3. Honestly, I don't think they wanted us to wait so they gave us the extremely long wait. Salad was simply a bag of salad dumped on plate and they "were out of tartar sauce" for the fish. Definitely not worth the wait and realized as we left this is nothing more now than one of the Big Bad Breakfast chain restaurants. I have lived in leipers Fork for the better part of 20 years and brought some friends recently to the country boy for breakfast. This will be the LAST VISIT as the staff has turned sour and rude. They felt we were taking too long and tried every trick to hurry up our breakfast despite us still eating. They told us they needed to take the table and give it to other customers who were waiting to be seated. I would suggest avoiding the country boy so that they can have fewer customers and not have to worry about adapting or figuring out how to add more tables. Loved it! Stopped in for lunch today (December 24) after a day of browsing in Leiper's Fork. It was so refreshing to know they cared enough about their staff and the customers to enforce masks.
