Dang, so disappointed. I was hoping that this review would bear more positive notes, but there are maybe 2 positive to 8 negative. Let me start off by saying that this was my first time here, as well as my fiancés first time. We were super excited because of the location, and what we had heard about this place. We made a 5:30pm reservation, and were seated pretty promptly (1 positive). Once we were seated, our server came to our table, and the first thing she did was pay complete attention to my fiancé and hardly said a word to me, and cut me off in the middle of something I was saying to continue talking to my fiancé (1 negative). After this, we ordered 2 drinks and mine was whatever the wild roots vodka drink is on the menu and my fiancé got an old fashioned. The drinks came out and were pretty good (1 positive). Let's move onto the main items - 1 dozen oysters - calamari - bowl of seafood chowder - seafood sampler - scallops Oysters- Fresh and not bad, a few had shells in them, but scooped them out. Calamari- From the moment we ordered this, it came out within 5min or ordering (RED FLAG), it was semi warm and the breading, which seemed to be maybe a corn meal breading was cracking off and wouldn't stay together. The calamari itself was way way over cooked, which may be why the breading wasn't right. Seafood chowder- This came out at the same time the calamari did, which was concerning. Upon tasting the chowder I knew something was off. It was not very hot on top and extremely hot in the center and bottom. It tasted like it had been sitting and got tossed in the microwave. Seafood sampler (this needs a full breakdown)- There were 2 cooked giant shrimp, half a sushi roll, 2 oysters, 2 pieces of salmon sashimi and tuna on a couple chips. The giant shrimp were TERRIBLE. They were tough, tasteless and felt as if they had just gotten done defrosting. I also found a poop tract still left in one of the shrimp, which I immediately set aside. The half sushi roll didn't taste fresh either. I actually stopped eating it after one bite because I felt like the fish had been out for quite some time, and did not want to end up getting food poisoning. The rice around the roll tasted like 3 day old rice too. The 2 oysters were fine because they were the same as what were in the dozen we got to start. The salmon sashimi was ok, but on the verge of not cold enough for raw fish to be served. The tuna chip things were super sus too. Whatever they mixed the fish with made it look brown and not appealing at all. I was afraid that since I couldn't see the actual color that it had been left out too, visually not what you want to see when you are eating raw fish. Moving onto the scallops- The scallops on top of the bed of risotto were actually quite flavorful and good. The risotto on the other had was flavorless and not in any way the way a risotto should be. My fiancé couldn't finish the risotto because it was so off. At the end of our meal the bill came out to $188 without tip. I still tipped 20%, but felt like I shouldn't have after we left for all the reasons stated above. If you've ever regret spending your hard earned money on something you thought would be good and then it turned out super horrible, this was that time. We literally left like "at least now we know", "dang it, I want my money back", "I hope we don't get sick" etc. Not a good way to leave a dinner. Oh yeah, when we first got seated, the waitress started by saying "we want to be the best seafood by the water, so if you could leave us a good rating". They need to do a complete change if they want that to happen, and no I am not going to lie about the quality so other people will go and waste their money like we did. People have been buzzing about The Cove for a while now, and if *I'm* hearing about it, they're buzzing quite noisily. I'm usually ignorant to the Hot New Thing, even in my own neck of the woods. Situated at the far end of Columbia Drive, The Cove is very much a destination dining choice. One does not stumble onto it by accident: you seek it out, as if on a quest, yearning to discover whether the legends are true. Is this the finest restaurant in Vancouver, as the rumors proclaim? After our visit, I can confirm: they're certainly a competitor for the crown. We arrived during that strange lull between lunch and dinner, sometime just before 3:00pm on a weekday afternoon, and yet the place was still reasonably busy. Late lunchers? Early dinner diners? Happy hour hawks? Who knows? The lunch menu was still on deck, which was fine with us, since we'd been busy running errands and hadn't stopped yet to eat. Our server, Keegan, gave us ample time to pour over the menu, and made a few suggestions for some of the more celebrated dishes, including the Seafood Pasta, which my wife would end up ordering. I would end up being unable to choose between the Braised Short Rib Sandwich and the Chicken Grinder, but Keegan steered me towards the latter, as it was among his personal favorites. I can see why. The combination of chicken breast, capricola, salami, gruyere cheese and garlic aioli was a heavenly blend of sweet, savory, tangy and slightly sour, and altogether amazing. Great suggestion, Keegan! Adjacent to me, my wife rapturously devoured her Seafood Pasta, twisting and twirling her fork to ravel up all of her favorites in spools of bucatini: crab, prawns and scallops, drizzled in butter, pesto and mizithra. Even I, generally not a fan of seafood, enjoyed the bites she shared with me! As far as the restaurant itself, the building is gorgeous, both inside and out, with massive windows along the southern and eastern walls, gazing out upon the Columbia, with fantastic views regardless of whatever weather the PNW throws at us. The place was impeccably clean, and our server Keegan exemplifies all that a customer could ask for when dining out. The Cove somehow lived up to its hype and our lofty expectations, and we will return again, without a doubt, any time we are seeking an upscale, yet affordable, fine dining experience. There are few restaurants in Vancouver, if any, that could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with The Cove and compete on the same level of quality and excellence. The praise is well-deserved. read more

Melt in your mouth deliciousness! The Cove only opened in August and they already have a following. Granted, it seems like it's mostly poshy folk from the neighborhood (definite yacht club vibes). Came here for a graduation party in one of the reserved rooms upstairs. I'll say, the venue is stunning. Surrounded by the Columbia River and a marina. I didn't get to try any of the food items on the menu since it was already pre determined. So this review really is just about the location and scenery. From what I heard, the food there is really amazing! The food that was served at the party was more of an appetizer, but was good nonetheless. But the scenery is everything. I'll be back eventually to try the food, but if you're looking for a venue to throw a party at, the upstairs area is where it's at! 03/01/2022: Went and revisited The Cover after letting them have some time to figure out their quirks. We had a new server in training named Keegan. He was great and really made the experience for dinner service memorable. I do hope he continues to be a strong member of the service team. We came here for some oysters and boy did they hit the spot. The poke tower was also phenomenal. We also did the platter appetizer but didn't find it to be too exciting. I would say the tempura shrimp was the best out of the batch there. All good food but nothing that I had to have. The Marrionberry Lemon Drop was also fantastic. All in all, I think The Cove has finally got it all figured out and is firing on all cylinders. I'm excited to come back for some more raw bar stuff! read more

This place is fabulous! Great food, desserts and service! Beautiful ambience! I wish that you would go back to just a normal Caesar salad like I had before. Not loving the one I had yesterday at all! The chocolate mousse is to absolutely die for, please don't stop making it! Only other thing I would suggest is not enough shade out on the deck in this hot sun, so more umbrellas or even real tables with umbrellas would be great! Ate here and honestly, this place blows. I got the cove burger, which was mediocre at best, and it came with 2, not 1, but 2 soggy buns. Fries looked to be crispy, and you can just imagine my disappointment, when I discovered that they too were soggy. The oysters, on another level off ass. My husband and I came to The Cove for the first time - on a Friday night with reservations. We were recommended by a coworker who raved about the Sea Scallops. To drink - I had the Moira Rose; cause well, I love Schitts Creek. It was delicious! We had the half dozen oysters - absolutely delicious! Fresh, flavorful, and perfect size. The Seafood Chowder is a must! Flavorful, hearty, perfect crouton addition! For dinner we had the Sea Scallops and Special ( Ribeye with bernaise and soft shell crab - accompanied by veggies ) The Sea Scallops were fantastic, cooked perfectly - and so tasty! My ONE critique of this dish - was that the risotto underneath had bell pepper and snow peas. I truly feel as though this flavor profile "de-elevated" the dish and wasn't a perfect marry. The Ribeye was cooked to perfection, seasoned well - very tasty and the lobster was a perfect addition! For dessert - we had the butter cake with lemon reduction and berry compote. OUT OF THIS WORLD! We had a wonderful giftcard from my daughter and could order whatever we wanted..we ordered 3 dishes to share (even though there were only 2 of us..lol, don't often get this kind of oppty.) YES, YES, YES! Location: Right on the water, very low traffic, private lot and free parking. The restaurant is pristine and modern and surrounded by windows overlooking a yacht club. That evening a bunch of the Christmas ships were docked and lit up. That made for a lovely backdrop for some group photos. Food: Excellent!! 15 of us came together for a birthday dinner and we all pretty much ordered something different. Every single one of us loved our meals. I wasn't super hungry and got the salad with beets (not to be mistaken with the full beet salad) and the mac & cheese. Both completely hit the spot! The salad had lots of goodies on top, with a delicious dressing and the mac was super cheesy and had a really good crumble crust on top. However, the seafood linguini was my 2nd choice and the person across from me got it. She ate the whole thing or I would have asked for a bite. My friends husband got the burger and it also looked fantastic. Service: Our server (a light brunette gal working the 4pm/evening of Sunday the 28th) was awesome and she has no idea how much we appreciated that she split our bills! Bottom Line: stunning venue with great views of the Columbia, good food but very expensive, very popular Happy Hour. For me, this is a good choice for a special occasion splurge dinner or Happy Hour. Happy Hour is Mon-Sat 3-5:30 and Sun 3-9. I had the 2 piece halibut fish and chips ($17 happy hour, $23 lunch), my wife had the burger ($14 happy hour, $17 lunch). Lovely new restaurant in a quiet, bucolic neighborhood. This is a bigger space than I tend to enjoy, but the food, service and environment with stunning river views are compelling. The new attraction is the moorage/ docking opportunities for boaters who want lunch, brunch, happy hour or dinner. Call ahead to get a spot to secure your boat. But let's talk about the food: the salmon is deliciously crisp and moist; the veggies are fresh and perfectly cooked. My taste of the fish and chips was terrific--I'll get it next time. The service is stellar--if they're working out new restaurant routines, I couldn't tell. It was flawless and polished. This will be a great location to enjoy dinner and drinks during the Christmas Ship season in late November/ December. We visited with friends after highly anticipating. We enjoy the Hammond and the menu and view looked amazing. View/ambiance: if you want a stunning view and ambiance, this is one of the best in Vancouver! It's tucked away a ways east of the water treatment plant and much more private than the Waterfront. Stunning views of the Columbia River and I can't imagine there's a bad seat in the house. The restaurant is spacious and ceilings are high so it is loud. Service: when we arrived for our 8:00 reservation (all we could get on a busy Saturday night), they were able to seat us early. They were super busy. It took a long time to get our drinks and food and our server described several dishes that turned out to be out, which was a disappointment, as those were of course the ones we wanted. She should have been notified that they were 86'd. Once our food started coming, the restaurant had emptied some and many servers attended to our needs. Food: the food was very good! Our table started with two appetizers--the poke and crab towers. They were delicious and flavorful, but "tower" would not be a word I'd use to describe them, as they were not large. I ordered a seafood salad (can't recall the name) and we wanted to share that and the scallops but they were out so my husband ordered the salmon, which was okay, but not special. Drinks were good, but Vegas pricing. Overall, I would give 5 stars if some of the kinks were worked out and if I could have given 4.5 stars that's what I would have done for this review. I've been eagerly awaiting this restaurant opening. This is a sister restaurant to The Hammond in Camas. Located right across from Tidewater Cove Marina, so you have gorgeous views on the patio overlooking the marina and Columbia River. I kept checking for their opening date, but walked by and saw the people eating and made a reservation for that evening. Upon arrival, they were able to seat us outside at sunset. Perfect! Our table started with fresh raw oysters from Hood Canal (a rare find on the Vancouver side of the river). Server said they are in high demand and we grabbed the last 8. They were plump & briney. Others at my table enjoyed the seafood chowder and spicy tuna roll. For my entree, I had the Ora king salmon filet & crab special over mashed potatoes & grilled asparagus. Salmon was prepared well and asparagus was just the right amount of crunch. Drinks? Started with a refreshing gin cucumber cocktail, and we shared a bottle of a Russian River Chardonnay with our dinner. I believe our server's name was Hayley and she was friendly and attentive. Great service, especially given it was the third day they were open. We didn't leave room for dessert, but we will definitely be back. A great addition to the Vancouver restaurant scene. read more

My wife, twin 4 year olds, and I went to The Cove this evening for dinner and we are so glad that we did! I feel like there have been a number of great "waterfront" restaurants opening on this side of the river which have been great additions to the Vancouver food scene. With the way things are looking in Portland these days it's not a top priority for me to trek the family across the bridge unless it's necessary. So, my wife and I love seafood and the fact that this place has a raw bar is super cool. Our daughters also loved the kids menu spaghetti and meatballs. My girls are quite picky and although I'm not sure if they make their pasta there, it appeared to be made there and not out of the box. We ordered the focaccia bread and half dozen oysters to start. The oysters were HUGE and had a really great texture to them. They had a number of different accompaniments which went really great too. I ordered the poke tower which was tasty, and not overly sauced like some of the others I've had in Portland. The plate that stole the show was definitely the scallops. Amazing! We'll be back for this for sure! The girls enjoyed the peanut butter & chocolate "pot ah creme" and my wife and I enjoyed the "gooey butter cake". I'd love to keep this place a secret and keep making same day reservations but I bet this place is here to stay and I hope to take the whole family back again soon. Even with reservation we had to wait to get seated which isn't a big deal. But then we got sat and still waited a while and then someone I guess had to step in since we had no one assigned to our table. It's Mother's Day weekend so we get it. The 4 stars wasn't for that, it was for the taste of food for the price. The food was good. But not as good as before. Cocktails are a bit spendy but that's everywhere. Was charged for a birthday dessert too which was supposed to be "free." If we knew that we would have definitely have picked our own dessert. Should have checked the receipt but it's hard when the server is holding the device right next to you in their hand checking you out. I get it's convenient but not ideal for customers. Great views and wonderful ambiance. I've been here for dinner several times and recently had lunch. The wait staff is dressed nicely and is very professional. I had the grilled chicken salad and their version of a Moscow mule which has a splash of cranberry juice in it and was garnished with a slice of lemon and a sprig of rosemary. The cocktail was refreshing, perfect for day drinking. The grilled chicken salad was delicious the chicken breast was cooked perfectly. The salad comes with a fried goat cheese crouton, roasted sweet potatoes and pickled eggs with a spiced pear vinaigrette. Absolutely delicious! The only thing I would have changed would have been less garlic in the dish because I have sensitivity to it. The view is fun. We went on a rainy day in but it was still great to see the sailboats and planes landing at pdx while enjoying our brunch. I tried the california benedict. It is slow roasted tomato, avocado slices, house made buttery biscuit, two soft poached eggs, hollandaise, roasted marble potatoes, and a chimichurri sauce. Wow! Amazing! The biscuits are almost like a crunchy pancake. The hollandaise sauce was perfect and all the flavors complimented eachother nicely. The husband got the halibut sandwich. Crispy ale battered, sharp cheddar, tomato, shredded lettuce, pub onions, shishito pepper tartar, and a house made toasted sesame bun. It came with steak fries that I kept sneaking from his plate. They were delicious. I tried the sandwich and it wad yummy. The only complaint is I felt the pickled onions were a bit overwhelming and would be better w a milder picking. Where to begin? We had such a good experience at the Cove, and everything from the food to the service to the restaurant itself was outstanding! My family and I ate lunch at Cove because we were looking for a nice seafood meal, and Cove hit the spot. We started off ordering the Seafood Fondue, which was cheesy, creamy, and delicious. It came with a side of their house-made focaccia, which was the perfect vehicle for the luscious dip. Then, for our entrees, we tried the Market Seafood Salad, Seafood Thermidor Bucatini, Vegan Seared Scallops, and Halibut Fish and Chips. The seafood salad was my personal favorite because it was loaded with flavorful seafood, prepared in a variety of ways, which gave it a really unique texture and flavor. I loved the smoked scallops and fried calamari, which added a flavor-packed crunch, but my favorite was definitely the smoked salmon! Their smoked salmon was probably the best I've ever tried--it was tender, smoky, and slightly sweet. The bucatini was also a great runner-up. It was super creamy and perfectly al dente. And, of course we had to try a dessert! They had an extensive menu, which made it difficult to choose, but we decided to split a gooey butter cake, as recommended by the waiter. The cake was incredible! It lived up to its oo-ey, gooey name, and had a wonderful sugar crust. The restaurant is situated so that you have a nice view of the ocean as you dine, and it has a very clean and elevated beach-y look. Our server was also super attentive and friendly. Overall, we had an amazing experience at the Cove. I would absolutely recommend if you are looking for a more upscale seafood meal or a peaceful dinner by the sea. read more

What a pleasant surprise. We usually spend most of our time on the new development side of the Vancouver waterfront but heard that this restaurant was owned by The Hammond which we love. This is now in our regular rotation for brunch lunch/dinner. The food is consistently delicious and high quality with friendly service.
