I love the deck! Only a 2 minute walk from my mom's house and the smell of their meat smokers makes my mouth water. Smart business model having both a walk up window and deck seating on the beach. Service is prompt and food has been great. Love the smoked turkey and Mexican street corn dip. Only 2 faults I can find is they only serve canned beer, no draft, and winter is too long a time for The Deck to be closed! LOL read more

So I decided to come to the beach. Was suppose to come up and enjoy company with a friend. But , anyways. I came to Muskegon Beach and found this place called "The Deck". It's located a stone's throw from the beach. I called myself just getting a little snack food and a beverage because I was out kite bording all-day. I was sadly mistaken. I ordered the hugest, most tenderest turkey that I've ever had in my life. It comes standard with 3 sides , roll, pickles, watermelon, and three different types of BBQ sauce. The atmosphere of this place absolutely blows you away. Located right on Pere Marquette beach, The Deck has an incredible atmosphere, great food, and even yard games to play in the sand. My girlfriend and I loved this place so much that we went here twice in one day (once for lunch and appetizers and once for dinner). I don't have any pictures of the dinner but it was incredible. We had pulled chicken, corn on the cob, macaroni, chips and a Lil Squealer slider! 10/10 would recommend and would go again any day. read more

I could have eaten a day-old hot dog from a Circle K, and totally enjoyed it in this scenic location. But now for the food. The BBQ won't disappoint. I had the crispy chicken tacos which were huge with lots of tender crisped chicken bites in a soft flour taco. My daughter had the pulled pork bowl...so much pork that it could have fed two. Was lucky enough to stay across the street here for 4th of July weekend. Have gone absolutely everyday due to the exceptional attentive service, quick delicious food, and Pure Michigan ambience. Zach, Ana, Seattle, and Tim have all taken excellent care of us this time in Muskegon. The afternoon with on the Deck with dirty Nachos and the crispy Brussel Sprouts were amazing. The ambiance was wonderful. The service was quick. The evening visit was just as quick and comfortable and entertaining. The street corn bowl was VERY GOOD. I surprised myself with that. Came here as plan B but it should have been plan A. The portions were generous and the staff very attentive! They have a summer music series and we listened to a guy play some cover songs. The view is unmatched! We kept getting up to take pictures! I had the Cobb salad, the kid got the chicken strips and loved the Nashville hot sauce, and mom got a boss dog and it was great too. Visited The Deck for the first time this evening, and we had a wonderful experience! We brought our pup with us, and they made accommodations for us to sit on the deck. The Waitress was so helpful and brought our pup a bowl of water. I ordered the Pulled Pork Tacos and chips, and they were amazing! My husband got the Brisket and loved it as well. I ordered the ribs and they came with no ribs.. I asked if the ribs are normally boneless and I was told it depends on the vendor (so my answer is sometimes?). I thought I'd give it a try because I'm not picky but I can promise that burnt rib-less ribs are not good nor would I recommend them. It was my first time at the deck too and I was told lots of great things about this place. The atmosphere is great looks like I just chose the wrong meal. Went here on a recommendation from a guy who was playing mini golf in front of us, and very thankful we did. The place is huge, so seating for a group of 6 was not a problem. Also we were pleasantly surprised to see a live band when we got there. The menu was pretty extensive, but we all ordered something a little different. I got the pulled chicken sandwich which was clearly the value play, as it came out piled high with chicken. I also got a side of sweet potatoes. It's also kind of nice that they separate the sauces out on the plate so that you can create your own sandwich to your liking. The food was all very good, especially the sauces and there were plenty of leftovers, which was nice considering the price was a little higher. We went to The Deck on a gorgeous Saturday night, with a party of 8. We waited less than 20 minutes for our table. The games and walk up bar service made that time fly by! Tim was our server and he was phenomenal! He made sure our every need was met. The food was amazing and the portions were huge. Our food was to our table less than 10 minutes after ordering. The only thing cooler than a good bar, is a good bar right on the beach !!! Not to mention the corn hole & other games, swing chairs, & live music! I LOVE this place. Anytime I'm on the west side of MI I try to stop by. Good people, good drinks, great food! This past time I went I had the beach burrito bowl with the smoked, pulled. It was so refreshing & delicous. I must say though the pulled chicken was the best part of it all. They smoke their own meat daily right there on site & it shows!! For whatever reason, they are a hot mess during their opening this year. Phones were completely shut off during opening day, and on day 2 their phone tree just loops when you try to speak to someone. Funny...their phone tree has an option for reservations, only for them to tell you they don't take reservations. They're supposed to have a wait-list within Yelp...that's not true either. So if you're bringing a party larger than a few folks, you'll be at the mercy of a potentially insane wait. Who doesn't at least have a wait-list in 2023? If you have all day to wait for a table, it can be a nice place to go. Food is solid, beer selection is a joke (considering they are located proximate to some of the best breweries in America), but the setting and the restaurant itself are very cool. They appear to have some serious operational challenges...just be aware before you count on being able to dine here. read more

Starving at the beach and this was the only option around. Vegan? Find somewhere else. I even left a card saying their vegan options needed major improvement. ONLY non meat, non dairy food (without asking to hold the meat, hold the dairy) is the Chinese chop salad, hold the honey peanuts. The salad is huuuuge. Filled with mainly Korean cukes and mandarin oranges (not a lot of lettuce). I think I saw only lonely carrot shred tossed in there as wellm LOL, The carrot & ginger vinaigrette dressing is fantastic. Tangy and creamy. It was OK in a pinch. Great views. Ask for a picnic table, the regular tables have metal-like chairs that are way too low for the table. I felt like I was sitting on a kids chair! Very confusing layout. Thought I was at the "host stand", turned out its completely on the other side of the building. Signage very limited and confusing. So I walk around, find a host and she seats me at a table on the side I entered from. Walked past a bunch of empty tables to get seated out in the boonies. And the place wasn't even a quarter filled. Go figure. Efficient waitress, fast service. If only the food choices were more inclusive. read more

The Deck is super fun but not super safe. Tried to have our meal at the upstairs bar. Thought others would be covid careful but they weren't. Chairs along the bar were lined up side by side. Others without masks crowded in even ordering drinks over our shoulders. Simple solution. Remove some of the chairs and space them out per Gretchen. read more
