We have been to the Depot three times now and every visit we have been blown away. The service is great. The dishes are unique and a breath of fresh air. We go back for the spicy blue crab dip every time. The drinks are high quality and very well priced. And as a couple who rarely orders dessert, you can take our recommendation for the bananas foster bread pudding seriously - it is no joke! This most recent visit was to celebrate my boyfriend's graduation from Auburn. The Depot took our reservation about 7 months out and accommodated our party of 9 without a hitch. We will be back every time we are in Auburn! read more

Our first time back in 9 years. We were in for graduation weekend and wanted to give it a try again for our large group. Our server was very polite. I rarely post reviews however, it was an expensive meal and took over 2 hours to get our meals. I ordered the duck which was bland. My in laws ordered the rib-eye that was terrible. My son, our graduate ordered the pork. It was terrible. I will never go back again and unfortunately The Depot doesn't come close to Acre and without a doubt doesn't touch Lucy's. My friends and I made 10:15am brunch reservations on Sunday to beat the rush! 2 of us ordered the crab bennie and our other friend got the hangar steak & eggs. The food was good-- the crab cake had a lot of crab in it and not much filler-- super fabulous! The grilled green tomatoes were also delicious but l must have misread the menu and assumed they were fried green tomatoes. We all loved our food-- we just couldn't believe how little the portions are, for their price. I seriously thought the steak & eggs dish was portioned for children... As for service, our waiter offered to take our valet ticket to have the car pulled up as soon as we signed the check. That was nice! read more

Weather impacted the reservations but they bent over backward on an extremely busy weekend to get us in. Food was excellent but overpriced for what it was. Biggest surprise was cost of cocktails. Way too high. Just beware of that and enjoy a cool restaurant read more

Hate how you can only valet with it being such a small parking lot. We went for the oyster specials on a Thursday night. They had some for $1.50 a piece and some for $2 a piece so got a mix of both. They were good. read more

The scallops were absolutely phenomenal. Our fantastic waitress told us they changed the recipe last weekend and I am so glad I ordered them. The cabbage and butternut purée were amazing too. Everything we ordered was super delicious! Everything: Clam chowder- it had a large amount of meat which was great! Oysters- fresh but small. Great flavor though! Spicy crab dip- not very spicy. House made tortilla chips which were great and the dip was very creamy and not overly spicy. (For someone who isn't a fan of spice it was not too much) Scallops with butternut purée and cabbage- it was absolutely phenomenal, even my husband agreed and was talking about it the entire way home! Mahi-mahi - hubs thinks he got the sword fish which he still thought was amazing and ate the entire thing but regardless it was great. He also got a side of Brussels sprouts and fries, they were both great! I would definitely recommend the Brussels! read more

We are new to the area and were looking for a fine dinning experience and The Depot did not disappoint. The Depot is located in a beautifully restored historical building. The ambiance is wonderful and the service and the food is even better. The wait staff was outstanding, providing a historical overview of the property as well as stellar service. The food was amazing and the wine list was fabulous. This dining experience is as fine as you would find in NY or LA. We highly recommend stopping in. read more

We must have a hit a bad day. 5:30 on a Saturday. Got right in. Service was great. Also maybe our expectations were thrown off when we read there was a culinary surcharge on each meal to help compensate the kitchen staff. After looking at the prices, seemed odd but okay. Had the Amberjack blackened. Tasted more burnt than blackened but the fish was still moist and tasty. We also had the trout, unfortunately we didn't enjoy the cranberry (?) mixture that came with it. Unfortunately I just experienced the worst treatment from a restaurant ever. A manager at The Depot (Troy) hung up on me after I called in to request a $90 credit for being charged a "$90 morning of cancelation" Saturday night of Parents weekend. The credit was not given. Our daughter was called into work (restaurant business) Saturday morning and was unable to join us so my wife called in to see if it was OK to cancel. We knew that Auburn was packed that night and The Depot would have no problem filling the reservation but wanted to make sure we were good to cancel. The very pleasant young lady said "of course, no problem" so we expected that there would be no cancelation charge...well we were wrong. I have never posted a negative comment but this requires a comment...not only no poor customer service with the charge...but Troy hung up on me???? WOW read more

We were in town to play golf and had dinner at the Depot with another couple. Started with a cocktail at the Bar, which was beautiful. My wife asked the bartender for a "real" whiskey sour. Made with real egg whites and natural ingredients; best she ever had. As we sat down at our table, almost on queue, 2 trains came by as if it was planned for us to get the full depot ambience experience. Dinner was excellent. We started with the spicy blue crab dip, which was just the right size for sharing-perfect. For dinner we had the duck breast, ordered, and prepared medium rare,-excellent; and the seafood pasta, which was loaded with redfish & shellfish in a delightful light red sauce. The service was also excellent. Would highly recommend the Depot and will certainly come again on our next visit. read more

"The Depot" should be at the top of your list for high-end eateries in Auburn. Though on the pricey-side, their food is delicious (though the portions can bear to be a little larger) the service is great, and the atmosphere is unique-nothing like being in an old train depot as an actual train rushes by. The Waygu burger is a personal favorite. read more

Over priced food, extremely noisy atmosphere, and poor kitchen service. Our reservation was at 6 PM. Two people in our party ordered the fried grouper entrée. 15 minutes later we were told that they were already out of the fried grouper. Then we all waited another 30 to 40 minutes before our food was served. We were unimpressed. On the positive side, the food was good and the wait staff was attentive. If you are going to spend over $400 on meals, there must be some better alternatives in Auburn. read more

We had the pleasure of dining at The Depot in March. We happened upon the restaurant during a golf trip to the Auburn area several years ago and we knew we wanted to go back. Everything was wonderful from the extensive wine list to the delicious entrees. Four of us had the 1/2 lb American Wagyu Burger and it was amazing. I chose it on the first visit and could not stop thinking about it. It was as wonderful as I remembered. My husband had the blackened redfish and he loved it. He also stole half of my french fries because they are so good. The Depot is a terrific restaurant that has been the highlight of two trips to Auburn. read more

I recently visited the Depot for the first time on my birthday for lunch. I really wanted to try the Chef's Daily Special but I found out that it's only prepared in limited quantities. I must say that their Oysters Rockefeller are The Best that I have had while in Alabama. Their banana foster dessert is Everything! Our party consisted of 12 guests. Nonetheless, the service was both timely and unobtrusive. The food was terrific. We particularly enjoyed the Spicy Blue Crab Dip, the Poke Tuna "Nachos", the Gulf Coast Seafood Noodle Bowl, the Can Can Pork Chop, the Roasted New Zealand Ora King Salmon, the Crème Brûlée, the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding, and the Flourless Chocolate Torte. The depot staff is professional, clean, and knows their stuff. Chef puts incredible dishes together with a specialty in seafood based off the freshest ingredients in the kitchen. This is a beautiful restaurant. The food is fresh, locally grown. This is where we go for our anniversary each year. The food is cooked perfectly. A little pricey, but the food is excellent. We had the Crispy Skin Caribbean Jerk Chicken, Hawaiian Walu and Shrimp, and Pan Seared Trout as entrees. All were very good and reasonably sized portions. Not much leftover, but we didn't leave hungry. My favorite part of the entrees was the dirty rice that came with the trout. That may sound strange or like the other stuff was not good, but on the contrary, the rice was just that good to outshine the other really good items. For dessert, we had Bananas Foster Bread Pudding and Triple Chocolate Espresso Pot de Creme. Again, both were excellent. I could have gladly eaten my weight in the bread pudding, it was the best I've ever had. Dinner with two drinks was ~$150 as a reference. Service was very good. The drink list is extensive, with a very wide range of bourbons to choose from. There are plenty of names you'll know, but likely a few you don't. I had a Dettling, which is an Alabama bourbon I've never seen before. I'll be looking to buy some for home soon. read more

This is a top contender for the finest restaurant I've eaten at in Auburn in the last ten years. The food is amazing and the service is over the top. The Depot goes out of it's way to ensure that your food is served correctly and at the perfect time for your party no matter the size. I've eaten here in parties of up to 10 and have never experienced a lapse in service. The Depot boasts an impressive wine list and wonderfully crafted cocktails from the bar. The seafood is fresh and the menu is always changing. I thought I had eaten good oysters until I sampled the various oysters offered here. I'm not going to break down the various dishes I've had here because I've had many and I've never had a "miss". This is a splurge that I'll be spoiling myself on often. read more

We dined at the Depot for the first time last evening. We could not be happier with the food, service and ambiance. It was half price wines by the bottle Tuesday so we were able to enjoy an excellent Chardonnay that we would not have bought at full price. I had oysters on the half shell, two of each, and they were the best I've had in Auburn. We both had a fish entree, me the striped bass and my husband the halibut and both were well prepared and excellent. Our server was very attentive and timed each course correctly.
