My spouse found the Drain Guys after our basement flooded for the second time in as many weeks in the midst of DC's brutal storms in July. We received several suggestions and a range of quotes for how to mitigate our water issues. The Drain Guys had the best suggestion AND they matched our lowest estimate. Our technician was Don. He arrived as promised, got busy and got finished in great time. He even completed the necessary cement work. The cement work isn't the prettiest but my new trench drain is. I am so glad we used their services. I highly recommend them. I had high hopes for this company because they responded to my call quickly and scheduled a visit for the next day. However, that was the extent of the positives I have for the Drain Guys. The technician snaked my sump pump drain for $495 for less than 15 mins of work, which unsurprisingly failed to unclog the drain pipe. Knowing the cost of snaking the pipe was high, he attempted to ease my disappointment by promising to offer discounts on using a camera and reinstalling the sump pump. The technician promised to send his proposal in 24 hrs for the future work and get things done before the rain came; however, it's been 3 days without a word. The company got their quick buck and ghosted me. If you want to hire unreliable and expensive plumbers with a quick initial response time, the Drain Guys may work for you! read more

Parker and Nick did a great job. We had original pipes rattling and humming throughout the house -- nick came and immediately identified the issues as corroded older pipes in the main water line. He explained the possible options. Parker came the following week due to my schedule and needing special parts ordered and he installed the new pipes in a matter of an afternoon -- including removal of a water softener. Buyer Beware!!! This relatively new startup is shady and unprofessional. I wish I had scrolled through all the reviews before I called because I made a huge mistake hiring them.Do yourself a favor and hire someone else! One hour after they installed a new faucet and new disposal, I noticed a huge puddle under the sink and a continuous drip towards the back near the wall. I notified them immediately, and it took the supervisor 4 hours to call me back. They refused to come back that day and fix it. What really blew me away is that they wanted another $150 to come out and fix the leak that they caused. Unbelievable! Dustin, the supervisor, told me that they were all about customer service and he would personally be here 1st thing Monday morning to fix it and I even sent a confirmation text message to him at 8:03 AM. He never responded and never showed up. Shame on you. Either go back to plumbing school or find another job!! You should change your name to The Lame Guys! read more

To be fair they did the job right and the price was fair. The job took about triple the estimated time . Everyone has a bad day so I am okay with how long it took. My problem is it took so long I had to leave before job was done . I texted him I need to wait until I get home which maybe around 9:30 pm to make sure it was done correctly. I stated I will call first thing in the morning to pay. I honestly just didn't want to deal with it after a long day and considering extra time it took wasn't 100% it was done correctly . A few weeks ago I noticed some bad things starting to happen with my water. The water wasn't getting as hot as it used to and water coming from our faucet had rust in it. As a relatively new homeowner I know very little about any home repair stuff ie plumbing, HVAC...ect. I'm clueless to anything I can't Google. So i did some searching on the internet and according to the World Wide Web the rust I found on the outside bottom of my water heater indicated a leak. Immediately I started freaking out as I had no clue what internal damage had already been done. Apparently even a small, unnoticed leak can lead to serious damage to your floors, subfloors, and walls. I also had no clue if this was going to cost $100.00 to repair or $10,000! I was freaking out. To me this became very urgent. I called two plumbing companies that I knew off the top of my head from commercials and trucks on the road. Both companies were friendly enough but didn't classify this as an emergency and couldn't even get someone out the same day I called. Then I entrusted my friends at Yelp to find me the solution: The Drain Guys. Now these guys understood my concern and sense of urgency. Within an hour of our phone call I had a technician at my house. Conclusion was that I did indeed need a new hot water heater, that was the sad news. The good news was that the technician did a thorough inspection to determine there were no damages from the leak! The solution wasn't nearly expensive as I thought it was and after the fact I did some research and The Drain Guys were competitive from a price standpoint. The technicians did their work, didn't leave a mess and were polite. These guys are local, have a lot of experience, and I highly recommend them.
