A pleasant and well-intentioned 22 year old plumber failed to open a difficult drain after 2 hours and said he'd come back to finish the job when he could get the use of a more powerful router. He made it clear that he would be back to complete the job and we assumed we would pay him then. He left, and we assumed we would hear from the Drain Guys but they did not call. When a week later I called to book a second job and to enquire about completing work on the drain, the manager rudely told me that his plumber had locked himself out, then rung our doorbell to bill us, and we had not answered. He then accused us not paying for work done. However, we were not asked to do so as the job was not finished. I was more than glad to pay but understood from the young plumber that he would return with the more powerful equipment, The same manager gave a 100% contradictory report saying my wife had answered and refused to let him in, which is not true, Besides, she is 80 years old and was recovering from surgery. Conclusion: the manager and dispatcher should not be dealing with the public. He not only made false statements but was exceedingly rude. The young plumber was full of good intentions but did not complete the job. I called the Drain Guys because the same young plumber had earlier done a successful job for me. But after this thoroughly unpleasant incident I would NEVER engage these "drain guys" again. Their spokesman was rude, insulting and dishonest, and they did not complete the job for which we hired them. read more

We'd been putting off replacing our main sewer pipe for a long time and we finally reached a point where we couldn't wait any longer. After requesting quotes on a Friday afternoon, Jay arrived the following Monday morning with the lowest we had seen yet (and promised to beat anything lower). He was confident in his ability to do the job and said he knew what it cost to do it. A week later, they were digging up our yard to finally replace the pipe. Inclement weather and a miscommunication with the city inspector (neither of which was the Drain Guys' fault) delayed the job a little bit, but we were kept apprised of the situation and it was still done within the promised two days. Parker and Payton were fantastic!! We called yesterday because we found a small leak in our basement ceiling, and got on the schedule for an appt in less than 24 hours. They called before their scheduled time to let me know a rough ETA, and then again when they were on their way. As someone with two small kids, knowing the timeframe is hugely appreciated. They even got here at the very beginning of what we were scheduled for, so we weren't needing to wait around all day. They were extremely professional and respectful, even making sure to wear the covers on their shoes (replacing them if they had to go out & back in). I loved their thoroughness to find the cause, as well as how informative they were about some other things they found along the way. That was all really appreciated. The pricing was also very fair! I called on July 1st to request an estimate for installing a water softener. The tech told me the other quotes I received were unreasonable and expensive. Suggested I test the water first, charged me $200 for the sample but forgot to take the sample back to his truck, came back to pick it up. About 10 days later I reach out only to be told the sample was lost again. On July 14th a different tech came out to grab another sample...I let a week go by and I hear nothing about the results so I call back to check. The tech I was communicating with told me he'd reach out with the results, never calls me back. Then sends me an email with the results which I interpreted for myself and researched before calling him again. He answers a few days later saying that he'd send an estimate but over the phone tells me a general price, it's super expensive...$5200 for installing their brand of softener...still hasn't sent any estimates or breakdown of the cost if I were to provide my own system. Maybe it's me, but I don't think they are interested in my business. It was a waste of time having to chase them down for something so basic and shouldn't cost more than $2000. read more

I called on a Wednesday to get a simple repair -- replace the sacrificial anode rod in my water heater. I wasn't in a rush. I asked for a ballpark estimate. They refused to give one, saying that the technician had to see it. I provided the water heater make and type. They offered three options for visits. I couldn't make the Thursday morning one but said the Saturday and Sunday options they suggested would both work. Jay Glazer, who I was communicating with, said Saturday would work best for them. Between 9am and 1pm. No problem. Got up at 7am SATURDAY MORNING for my workout, to get it out of the way. And then I waited. And waited. And waited. By 1:15, no plumber, no contact. I went out to do yard work. At 1:30, the plumber called, saying he was at a job 10 minutes away and would be free in 45 minutes. I got the message at 2:30, called back, and got his voice mail. Couldn't leave a message because his voice mail box was full. But he called me about 10 minutes later. He didn't know about the make/model of the water heater even though I had provided that information when I made the appointment. The plumber emphasized that he was ten minutes away but he didn't have the part. An hour and a half later (it's now past 4pm) he calls to say he can't get the part on the weekend. I told him forget about it. Clearly, this is not a companty you want to deal with. May I propose a new payment model? I realize a plumber's time is worth something, but so is my time. If they show up and do the job, I pay them. If I sit around for 8 hours, wasting my whole day, and they never show, they pay me. What do you say, folks? read more

I called the Drain Guys and Jay answered the phone right away. They came the same day and they sent Parker Douglas for a clogged drain in my basement. He realized that my sewer line had a break in it. He also took the time to review the camera view with me to explain and actually show me the problems. He thoroughly discussed with me all of the options to repair the problems. We decided that he would need to dig up the pipe and do a full replacement. Parker and Jay were very easy to communicate with throughout the whole process. The job went very smooth and they did an excellent job. I highly recommend the Drain Guys for all your plumbing needs. If I could give them no stars, I would. I am elderly on a fixed income. I couldn't get an estimate over the phone to replace my water filter under my kitchen sink, and they were available to come out first, so they did. The plumber was covered in dried mud. I had a faucet that I had purchased to be installed and he installed it for $250. Now my soap dispenser doesn't pump. The real reason I called was to replace the water filter under the kitchen sink. I told Parker because of my limited income I couldn't pay more than $500 for one. He said they run about $500 to thousands. He said maybe he could do it for less, but not sure. So he said he took three water tests. I wrote a check for $500 because they charge over 3 percent fee for credit cards. I waited several days, maybe a week before I contacted them about the test results. They aren't as quick getting back to people who follow up as much as when you first ask for help. He said it wasn't back yet, but would keep me informed. He didn't. The next week was the same response. The next week, Parker called and read me the results and the water was fine. Ok, so now what do I do with the deposit for the filter? I was suspicious that Ihadbeen double charged for the test because they sent me a quote for a filter I no longer needed for $650 less a deposit of $125. $125??? The contract said correctly that I had paid $250. Several back and forth later and the quote was finally changed to reflect the $250 I had paid for the test/deposit. But the wording in the paragraph above the numbers still said the $125 deposit. So clearly, they usually charge $125, not $250. Anyway, so as not to waste my deposit, I thought I would still ask to get a filter for just Chlorine. They would not change the filter cost of $650. And the quote is sent as an attachment to my email so I can't save it to show as proof of anything. At least, I don't know how. But to continue, the boss said they only install one kind. After Parker talked to the boss, the boss said if they installed any other kind, there would be no warranty. They won't work with you or bend to your needs. It was over a month between the time they took the water test and the final time I spoke to them. They are not quick to get the job done and they won't work with you. I told them I would not let them put in a filter. My loss. But I warn you not to use them unless you have patience, check their quotes and contracts and have lots of money. read more

The Drain Guys did that and worked very quickly.. but too quickly. 4 days later, we had the same problem and had to hire a different plumber to complete the work at a much lower price! From the start, working with the Drain Guys has been like pulling. When my Dishwasher stopped draining, I tried a few troubleshooting steps before calling them. When scheduling the appointment, I asked how much it would cost for the initial visit. Jay responded "our technician will be happy to provide any pricing during the appointment " We confirmed the appointment and they gave me an 8-12pm timeframe. The technician showed up at 2:45pm and was there for 3 hours trying to figure out why the dishwasher won't drain. No work was done, yet they stick me with a $250 bill for a "diagnosis" and promise to email me a proposal. The visit was on Thursday and I followed up with the technician on Friday to understand what is the problem. The technician promises to get the proposal to me by the end of the day. I asked the technician if they work tomorrow and they said they do. It is Labor Day weekend and I have yet to hear from anyone. i called up Jay on Saturday and he promises to follow-up with the technician and get back to me. Tuesday goes by and no response. Despite the multiple calls I made to both the technician and the company along with the text messages I have sent to the plumber, not one response comes through. Finally on Wednesday, I am able to get in touch with Jay again and he still does not know what it going on or why I have yet to receive the proposal for which I paid $250. Finally on Wednesday i get the proposal which does not include any option to fix the Dishwasher only the cost to install a new one. The service I got from the Drain Guys is beyond horrendous. First, they told me they were late to the appointment because they were busy with another job. Second, they never quoted me any cost for the visit and ended up charging ME because it took THEM 3 hours to try to figure out what is wrong with the dishwasher. and lastly, they did not make any attempt to follow up with me or provide the "Diagnosis". Instead they quote me a price to get a new dishwasher. Now, not only did I lose $250 but my existing dishwasher still does not work and they want another $425 just to install a new dishwasher. To add insult to injury, when i spoke to Jay on Wednesday, he became very defensive and starts making excuses about how they are short-staffed and they are busy working on other projects as the reasons for the delay. He seemed very confused about why I am upset. He tells me that it was emailed it to me over the weekend yet I never got anything. The technician, finally emails me back at 12:55am Thursday morning that the proposal was sent to the wrong email address. Not once did either the technician or Jay confirm the email address with me. nor have either of them responded to any of my text messages or returned my calls until almost a week later. I should not have been charged a fee for a service that was never delivered. I never asked for the price of installing a new dishwasher yet they gave me an estimate only for this service and not for the cost of fixing the existing dishwasher. Not to mention that cost of a "diagnosis" was never provided to me ahead of time. Moreover, I should not be charged per hour for them to "diagnose" the problem. It almost appeared as though they were "running up the clock". I wish I had gone with a different company instead of The Drain Guys. One thing is for sure: I will never call this company ever again. read more

Offried Williams from the drain guys came to fix my gas water heater that wasn't working. It was a simple fix of turning the pilot light back on. What set this plumber apart was he explained how keeping the filter clean would help prevent the pilot light from going out again, then proceeded to take the filter off and cleaned it in the sink and showed me exactly how to put the filter back on its track. Not many guys would go above and beyond the way Offried did. It was probably 10 minutes of his time but he made a customer for life. Highly recommend these guys! read more
