I was visiting from California with some friends. We came across this restaurant on Yelp. So far Yelp has not let me down. I search for 4-6 stars only. I have to say I was very impressed with this place. From the service to the ambience and of course the food. The spinach artichoke dip was delicious and the salsa added a nice little kick. The pork chop was tender and juicy. Oh and don't forget the mashed potatoes, I don t recall the fancy name for them but they were the best potatoes I ever had. If you're in the mood for sushi, try the magnificent mile roll, you won't be disappointed. We ended our meal with the pistachio gelato with candied pecans. It was to die for. I had been meaning to try happy hour at the Evie and finally made it here yesterday since I was nearby running errands. I was able to nab a seat at the bar and was immediately offered water, a regular dinner menu, and specials menu. My first impression of the ambiance is that the space is much lighter and brighter compared to when it was Bandera with its big, red sign. Evie's design is open-plan and features restaurant seating, an inviting bar, and a view overlooking the Magnificent Mile. The decor is cozy, with a modern flair and the food can best be described as having a bit of everything, with classic American fare (salads, sandwiches, and burgers) sharing space on the menu with sushi. I sat at the bar and started with a vodka martini (note: the cocktails are well drinks, with select spirits, but the bartender/server was happy to oblige my request). The beef and cheddar slider was unexpected, but hit the spot. I was expecting a regular beef slider, but it turned out to be prime rib, which read as an elevated take on a familiar staple. This used to be the Bandelero? Restaurant 10 years or so ago. Great ambience right on Michigan Ave. Great service. Great place to go for a glass/bottle of wine and their Grilled CA Artichoke appetizer. That being said, our artichoke had a bit too much oil on it. Flavor and remoulade were great. My hubby had the "Mag Mile Sushi roll". He liked it, but nothing special. I had the "Chili Glazed Salmon". No one asked me how I liked it cooked. It came out cooked medium, which was a bit dry. They did drench it in sweet chili sauce. It was too much, and WAY too sweet. I didn't finish it. There wasn't much bok choy, but the little salad on top was nice. Sticky rice on the side. So, while we were not impressed with our entrees, we will be back again for the artichoke and some wine next time we need a munchie on Michigan. read more

This is my first time writing a YELP review but I had to warn everyone This restaurant could not care less about customer service.They split our party in two with no explanation though we had a reservation. This after a 25 wait for our table. Took an hour to serve half our party and then said they'd made a mistake and took our food away. Read again: TOOK OUR FOOD AFTER WE STARTED EATING! Finally served the rest our party an hour later. When we complained they offered us free desserts and then charged us for them. No one really apologized but they did tell us the restaurant was closed and "everyone wants to go home" We would have happily left 90 minutes earlier if they would have served us sooner. What a disappointment for our big celebration party. If I sound angry I am, there's no reason to treat customers this poorly. If I could give negative stars I would. The manager said " we get great yelp reviews" so I wanted to be sure and fix that. Tell everyone you know not to go here, they don't deserve your business. read more

Great food, fun atmosphere with a great view of magnificent mile, and good service, cant ask for much more than that! Started off with the grilled artichoke. They had a great buttery sauce and were perfectly seasoned. You get a good amount here as well. These are a winner, while messy to eat I would get them again. The steak frites came out perfect cooked, the fries are just like McDonald fries and that isnt a dig, they had a good amount of salt on them and the sauce that comes with them was also wonderful. The jus that comes with the steak was sooooo flavorful. I would get this 100 times over again. It was that good. We also got the chili honey glazed salmon and it was equally as delicious. Perfectly cooked so it had a crispy exterior but a flaky, moist interior that literally fell apart as you cut into it. In addition the flavor when you combine it with the herbs, jalapeños and sticky rice, it was the perfect bite. Honorable mention goes to the iced tea, it was also excellent. I saw a few of the sushi rolls and they looked amazing and will need to be on the list for the next visit. read more

Awesome spot overlooking Michigan Avenue. Beautiful interior with some good vibes and interesting artwork throughout. Nice open kitchen and sushi prep kitchen as well. Our server Chuck was awesome and a joy - very friendly and made the meal more enjoyable since we were seated next to some louder tables attending a post-conference dinner. Good wine menu and the cocktails looked good but we didn't have any. Sushi starter was great. We did the Mag Mile roll, and it did not disappoint. Truly delicious. For mains, I got the barbecue ribs special and my wife got the prime rib French dip. Both were excellent, but the French dip is the reason I will come back. It was the star of the show for sure. Tender, juicy, unbelievable on a soft baguette. Just awesome. Desserts are good sized too. We got millionaire's ice cream and it was the perfect sweet ending. The Evie is an awesome spot, more on the touristy side, but offers some views of Chicago you don't see all the time if you live here. read more

We were disappointed to hear that Bandera had closed. It was the restaurant in this space until COVID took it out. This new restaurant keeps a lot of the familiar feel of Bandera. Bar, seating , etc are all still there. The house music is right on point and the courtesy of the staff is to be commended. We had the Mag Mike roll, made up of Aji tuna, yellowtail, salmon, avocado, sweet potato, potato, and topped with a crunchy garlic and chili oil. All of the flavors and the fish go well together. All of the fish is very fresh and each bite is almost too much. However, it all comes together and into one of the best roles I've ever had. make sure you start with this when you come here. So! I'm a Bandara fan. It was my spot for lunch, birthday celebration, date night, and client dinners. I was devastated when they never reopened after assuring me and others that they would open following COVID-19. Today, I decided to drop in and sit at the bar to work a bit on my laptop. Some menu items are similar to Bandara, like grilled artichokes, beef burgers, catch of the day, etc, which was encouraging. Still, I was skeptical. Ms. LErin, the bartender, was GREAT! She is very personable and genuine, interacting with customers as if she was an ambassador for The Evie. She talked up the food and staff as I and others kept comparing The Evie menu to Bandara's. She was gracious and patient and made several recommendations for wine and food. She recommended the Hamachi roll for me and it was delicious! (Bandera did not have sushi on the menu) I would love to see the Jazz combo return, nonetheless, I will return with friends and family. Maybe, The Evie will be my New Spot. read more

The space retained a little of the Bandera charm BUT it's new, it's sleek, it's inviting, it's fantastic. I would describe as global, eclectic, yet modern?! It's beautiful. Plus, the window seats overlook Michigan Ave! Bonus Trey was our server and he knew the menu in and out. He gave us a TON of recommendations and walked us through the menu. Attentive and not annoying. He was an excellent server! To be honest, they have something for EVERYONE. Which truly is great for a restaurant on the Michigan Ave! It's perfect for neighborhood folk, but also tourists! When you first look at the menu, it might seem all over the place...but trust me, it works! We tried the Rangoon shrimp roll. It was DELICIOUS. All the sushi looked amazing....can't wait to go back and try more! House smoked faroe island salmon was great! Definitely a light smoke to it but the bread with the dill style aioli and capers. Yum! Summer Watermelon Salad was a light summer salad. I felt it was missing something but it was still delicious...maybe a little salt?! Crispy Fish sandwich...THIS IS THE STAR OF THE SHOW!!! The house made brioche bun. The fish that was lightly battered and fried. It was SUPER fresh. Likely the best fish sandwich I have ever had. This wasn't clear on the website and we almost passed on it because of this, but I'm glad we didn't! The first round was awesome (we picked the right rolls) and the second was just ok. The sushi selection is a mixed - a few very good and a few very average. The Osaka Style Pressed Sushi was excellent and something we had never had before. My issue was that it was pricy - I realize sushi is never inexpensive, but I walked out feeling that $250 for sushi and a few drinks was high.
