We stopped in here without a reservation this past Saturday night around 6:30 pm, and luckily, we were quickly seated in the back room (the main room was full). We've dined in the back room twice by now, and we noticed that the service is MUCH slower. We waited a good 10-15 minutes before the waitress came to our table! For drinks, my husband had beer (as usual), and I tried their "Pineapple Express". Frankly, the drink was a bit weak in terms of alcohol...and tasted just OK. Also, the waitress accidentally spilled some on the desk. Oh Well? We ordered the Avocado Pull Apart Bread for appetizer...which was our second time, and was really good. For the entree, my husband ordered the BBQ Baby Back Ribs, which he seemed to enjoy...and I tried their Blackened Salmon Pasta. For the first time ever at Flipside, I did not like this dish. It was WAY too salty, and I thought it could have used a bit more veggies (not just tomatoes and a tiny sliver of spinach). In a way, I was surprised how little I liked this Salmon dish. I say this 'cuz I always tell everyone how EVERYTHING at this restaurant is so on point. Surprisingly, not the case this time. The kitchen staff really needs to rework this dish...it's just WAY too salty....and too saturated in grease. Obviously I will not order this again. Still this restaurant is probably our favorite in town. While I'd normally drop 2 for the food and drink experience I've had, I'm going to go with 3 stars...only because I know other dishes here are great. I just know now not to order this Salmon dish. Sorry, but I have to be frank about my experience!

Very unique restaurant in OldTown Rockhill. The menu is very good. I had the Shrimp and Grits, and I know you think big deal, but they definitely put a spin on the dish and it is delicious. Also, the avocado and ricotta bread is over the top. The service is excellent, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the environment is comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Plus you can stroll through OldTown after you eat. Well worth the trip!

I snuck a few of his potatoes, and they were nice and crispy on the outside; tender inside. Oh and you must get a biscuit! Trust. Eric suggested we also come back for dinner. And we will.

We searched Yelp for restaurants in the Rock Hill area and decided on Flipside. Great choice! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We visited on a Tuesday evening so they weren't busy at all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was friendly and attentive. Food was outstanding! We had the coffee barbeque ribs (fell right off the bone) and the fried chicken. The only think I will say about the chicken is I wish it had more gravy. (I could have asked but didn't-I was enjoying everything else lol). Try the peach sangria too if you want a refreshing summer drink. Definitely make this a stop if you're in the area.

This place was good- it has a different taste of flavor. The honey mustard and ranch is good. My burger was juicy- I just didn't taste any seasoning on the meat- but I did not get the pimento cheese on it- so maybe that a small difference. The bacon and onion jam I thought would have a good balance of sweet and salty- but it was more on the salty side and a bit dry. The messy fried chicken sandwich- my hubby said it was really good with the maple mayo- balanced the heat nicely. The pancakes were huge- they were good. It was something different about them- but it could've been the maple syrup- which is what we not used to eating. The menu is vast and our waitress stated that it changes quarterly. I got the Avocado steak toast. It was ok. Not much steak on it and no flavor. The avocado tastes too vinegary. Got a 4 star because my boyfriend loved the lobster omelet, the prices are very reasonable, and the waitress was beyond upbeat and friendly, and service was fast.

Stopped in with Krissy and the girls before Brody's soccer game in RH. Flipside is a great local business. Both my girls ordered off menu; avocado toast with a fried egg, one added bacon and the other added fried potatoes. My wife BLT and I decided to try the Southern Chicken monte Cristo I'm curious how they charge for my daughter's meals considering they have a steak and salmon avocado toast. Waiting for our meals...... The meals were good, but my hunch was right. The price was not. They charged for the steak avocado toast because as a told in a Condescending tone, "There is no button for plain avocado toast". Okay! sure! The main ingredient is not there and it makes perfect sense to charge for the price for the menu item because there is an "easy button" to push on the register. That was a BS answer from a manager that needs to learn something about empathy. This is not my first visit, but may be my last to this location. I have been here numerous times over the years for both work and pleasure and this location has disappointed my previous 2 visits. I'm a big fan of supporting local businesses, but this location has not lived up to expectations recently. When our meal after getting the condescending manager to adjust the price was still over $100 for 2 teenagers and 2 adults for breakfast, I'll take my business elsewhere.

We came here for my mom's birthday and the food was decent. I am a foodie so my standards are high but the food and price point was decent! The service is always really good but I feel like my entres were just okay. It's southern fare which is good, just think that the cook on certain foods could be better. Hubby and I decided to support a local restaurant that was less than 2 miles from our house. Never thought about this place until I searched for a good old fashioned cheeseburger. No pork, no fries, no onions rings, nor any eggs added to it. Just cheese, lettuce, onions, pickles and tomatoes! Some ask, "Where's The Beef?". Well Flipslide has it. This burger did not disappoint. Real beef and cooked to perfection. Not overcooked or undercooked. Of course they had their "signature" burger on the menu, but you could customize it anyway you liked with no problems! The staffers were super duper friendly. Great service and great food equals a perfect combination. The only Flipside of the story is that they close at 9pm and don't have imported beers.

Amazing burgers and my fav spot for Brussel sprouts. Plan ahead as this place is popular. Peach cobbler dessert is decadent! Did have a mishap on our last take out order, and didn't feel that we were offered a good resolution for an item that was missing from our order. Chalking it up to a rough night. Typically have had high quality service at Flipside. read more

The food and service at both the original Fort Mill and this Rock Hill location are excellent. Rock Hill is more casual and I liked it for lunch. Fort Mill is smaller and more intimate for a dinner. You cant go wrong at either! read more

Very good food and service. Once again in this particular town you have slim pickens! My salad was fresh and the ranch was sooooooo good I almost asked for the recipe ;) I think next time I'm going to try the flip side cafe in fort mill so I could really do an accurate comparison. I wanted to order more but wasn't that hungry (odd) I'll be back forsure tho. This place gets pretty busy too around lunch time. read more

Great food, great service. An unusual collection of appetizers and entrees that will peak your interest and hopefully your desire to try something new. Staff was really accommodating and cordial. Can't really say enough complimentary things about this nice restaurant. Quiet, street view seating if desired, and just a warm casual setting. Great Bloody Mary's to boot. Came for a valentines dinner tonight and there was no wait at all. Had us take temperature and we were seated immediately. Staff was friendly and inside was alright. Decor could use a lift but the food was fantastic. We started off with surf n turf skewers, which were so good and paired well with the chipotle aioli. For entrees we had the baby back ribs and beef braised short rib. The short rib had great flavor and the risotto complemented it perfectly. The ribs were pretty good, not a ton of meat but the sauce was very good (sweet with a kick), and Mac n cheese was also very good. Afterwards we had the cheesecake and it was quite small but tasted great. Can't wait to come back. read more

If you haven't been...just go! There's a reason everyone loves Flipside. The restaurant offers slightly more choices but you can't go wrong with the restaurant in Rock Hill or the cafe on Fort Mill. Love the pimento cheese app. NEED the hummingbird cake. I keep missing it!! read more

Visiting from out of town and wanted a non chain restaurant as I am staying off of Dave Lyle Blvd. I can not stop raving about this place. We ordered fried green tomatoes, Pastrami Ruben, Mushroom Ravioli and the Chicken Salad Sandwich. The food was very fresh and delicious. Our waitress was the sweetest women but truly everyone their was super nice. There is street parking and a lot in the back. Can't wait to come back for a visit. read more

Saw the menu on line and had to try it. Great service, live music and the food was outstanding. We had the Flipside Burger, which was cooked perfectly to order. The bacon and onion jam really set it off. Also had the braised short ribs... Super tender. The risotto was cooked perfectly as well and everything meshed together wonderfully. Give them a shot. I can't imagine that you'll be disappointed, no matter what you order. read more

My husband and I are traveling through the state of SC and used Yelp to find a place to eat. This place did not disappoint. I had the cold water salmon cooked medium and it was perfect. The entire dish was very good as was the presentation. The only negative I would have is that it was a little salty for my palette. I don't use much salt normally so that could be why. My husband had the sloppy Joe and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this place. read more

I took my mom here for her birthday dinner. Her short ribs and risotto were amazing! My friend and I got the chicken salad sandwich and Cuban sandwich. Both were horrible. Cuban has very dry pork and the meat falls out of the bread constantly. The chicken salad was bland, no flavor, just plain chicken, Mayo and celery. My glass had a chip in it and kind of cut me ( which is an honest mistake) but after returning my sandwich and my chipped glass I never once heard from a manager. The waitress Tiffany was very inattentive and was focused on a table of men the whole time I was there. All in all I wouldn't go back. Pump house isn't too far away. Go there instead. read more

This restaurant is located in the lovely downtown area of Rock Hill. The entrance is a little odd. You have to walk down a wide alley to enter into the restaurant. We had dinner on a Wednesday night and it was quite full. The service was prompt and super friendly. The menu is not super extensive but I'm ok with that. I had the 24 hour braised beef Short ribs with a cheesy risotto ($29) - it was DELICIOUS!! My husband had the Creamy Blackened Salmon Pasta ($22) He said he was so full but kept eating more because it was so yummy! We shared the Bananas Foster Cheesecake ($8) for dessert. That was meh. The cheesecake was a little muffin tin size with some whipped cream and a few chopped caramelized banana chunks on the side. Overall a great place to have a nice dinner out. One last note: this is for the patrons and the owner(s) of the establishment. On the menu at the restaurant (not online), at the bottom it reads "There is a 3% service charge, discount available if paying cash." If you are a patron, it might be good to know this in advance if you want to bring cash. Nowadays a lot of people don't carry cash. So, note to self. If you are the owner of the establishment, this 3% charge is part of your business expense. In my opinion, and as a former business owner, I would never explicitly charge the customer my 3% fee for using credit cards. I understand that on a $100 dinner that equates to $3.00. I think it is rude and insulting to ask your guest/customer to pay an extra $3.00 for your business expense. This is a small amount to the customer but I find it unacceptable to ask for reimbursement for your (the owners) cost of doing business with the credit card companies. I personally know the restaurant business is quite profitable. Please don't insult your guests by asking them to pay the extra 3%. This unfortunately left a bad taste in our mouths leaving the establishment that night. read more

We have been here many times and usually enjoy. Rock Hill is limited on good breakfast choices. Thankfully Another Broken Egg is coming. We ordered our food, everything was cold except the eggs. I ordered fried potatoes that never came. We were given a side order of bacon We didn't order. We pointed that out to the server and he said "the kitchen gave it to me". We said ok. He then came back and said " if you eat the bacon we have to charge you". We said take it, we said we didn't order it. The bad thing is they took it back and obviously gave it to another table. Isn't that against food regulations or something? read more

My girlfriend and I were looking for nice restaurants in the rock hill area, we found the flip side. We ordered lobster Mac and cheese and it was delicious but we ordered the stuffed trout and as soon as we finished eating it both of us looked at each other and and immediately felt sick to our stomach we both had to leave early cause we thought we were gonna throw up. So really, I've only been to two restaurants in Rock Hill, ever. It just so happens that both of them are on Caldwell St (hey, good on you, downtown!). Besides my tried and true Amélie's, I'm somewhat familiar to the Flipside concept due to their (now closed) Corner Grind in Pineville. Man, do I miss those delicious sandwiches, but I'm glad to know that the creations live on in their flagship restaurant! I actually didn't intend to eat here! It's funny that me and my pal Michael W. were talking about Flipside just last night. I had come downtown to grab a quick bite at my favorite Charlotte-based French Bakery when I saw the Flipside sign a block down. I then decided that with a hundred or so visits to Amélie's under my belt, I should take the opportunity to try something new! Arrived right around 11:30, and good thing too. This place filled up to capacity within a half hour! A good sign with a restaurant that's been open for three years, the hype is still alive! I was seated and quickly tended to by Marquis, brief visits to the table but friendly and honestly I wanted to make my lunch as quick as possible. Ordered the "Original" Flipside Burger with Bacon & Onion Jam, Pimento Cheese, and lettuce on a Brioche Bun. Went for Balsamic glazed brussels instead of fries. First off, that burger, definitely a good decision to label it with the restaurant's name. Everything from the patty to the bun was outstanding. Bacon & Onion jam was full of mellow, sweet and complex flavor with a bit of smoke . The Pimento cheese drove it home for me, a bit lighter than most and held all the other components in place well. The brussels, THOSE BRUSSELS were heavenly! The slight crunchy char on the ends complement the soft body of the brussels. Perfectly cooked, not too bitter, and the balsamic glaze balanced everything out with the right amount of pungency. I'm actually glad the burger didn't come with any additional condiments because I just wiped the balsamic glaze up with the burger! With one visit under my belt and 2 of 2 restaurants I've tried in Rock Hill a slam dunk, Charlotte better step up their game before I decide to cross the border! read more

One of two restaurants we frequent in Rock Hill. Not your usual 4 steaks, a chicken and a fish menu. The Louisiana style Shrimp and Grits, Black Coffee Baby Back Ribs, and Short Ribs are my favorites. Make sure to try the Warm Asparagus Salad! read more

We have never had a bad meal here! We even do our best to bring our out of town friends here, and they have always been impressed! The brussel sprouts are fantastic!! The sloppy joe is always a treat (and a different take on what you had as a kid, it's so much better!) The salads are some of the best I've had. My only tip, is that we prefer coming during the lunch time, as it seems we prefer the meal options as opposed to the dinner. It's an easy spot to miss if you don't keep an eye out for it, but you won't be disappointed if you stop here! read more

We had my mothers wedding reception dinner at flip side, in a space they have on the side of the restaurant and service was wonderful. They helped her prepare a menu and everything went smoothly through the night. The lighting was dark and intimate and everyone had the best time. This is one of my family's favorite places to dine. read more

This place is disappointing and the staff is even worse...our waitress was eating behind the "staff area" when we came in she greeted us while chewing the food still and had an attitude as if we did something wby just walking in and sitting in her spot, the manager was requested but never received. We didn't make this a long visit, didn't even finish our food, barely touched it actually I think I took exactly one bite. Shameful. read more

It's bougie cooking, overpriced for what you get and they try too hard to make dishes sound unique and fancy tbh. Their daily mac and cheese specials sounded so good but the Mac and cheese was so rich and at the same time bland? You can add whatever on top and call it special but it wasn't. Sorry to come off a little salty and judgmental here- but the staff are always so... snarky and they obviously think highly of themselves, so it's just not a good vibe right out the gate. Oh, they have delicious truffle fries. And they do buy their ingredients locally. So, there is that! read more

Nine Black college students served nearly 30 days detention on a prison farm after staging a sit-in at this South Carolina Whites-only restaurant in 1961. On a visit to Kounter in December, I was told by a waiter it's not uncommon to see some of the Friendship 9 eating at the restaurant. Drop by to ogle the menu and take in the historical display. Very interesting and a good insight as to where black people were back then.

They had a special which we both decided was good, surf & turf with NY strip and lobster tail. I also brought a bottle of Freixnet Cordon Negra which was so good! We tried this place for the first time last night after multiple recommendations. The food was definitely as advertised! Absolutely delicious. My husband and I both enjoyed the casual atmosphere and fine dining food presentation. It's nice to find such amazing food without having to drive into Charlotte. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the service. Our waitress was nice but definitely seemed like she was rushing us along. For a married couple out to dinner without the kids sometimes it's nice to just enjoy each other and talk for a couple minutes. She asked us multiple times if we were ready to order before we had even looked at the menu. And we sat directly next to the service station so I could see her peering at us through the glass seeing if we were looking at our menu or not which made me a little uncomfortable. Our Rock Hill adventure..... treated like VIPs at Flipside. Amazing restaurant and stellar service. EXCEPTIONAL food and funny, attentive staff. Best place we've been to in a LONG time.... and you know we hit a dozen or more places in Charlotte. This one blows them all away. Spotless, great restrooms, spectacular food.... the Pineapple Express sent me riding on my own private adventure ;) it... was... phenomenal. Chef Jason was a consummate professional. Endearing, witty, knowledgeable. His 17 years of experience showed brilliantly. Please understand that we bad been here several times. I wanted to eat there for lunch on my wife's birthday. Was told we could not come in without wearing A mask. Three feet away people were seated eating without masks. So This Flu bug knows it can't travel those feet. If this owner and manager are this liberal, I will have nothing to do with the depth of stupidity required to do this and the embarrassment to a repeat customer, in public and in a very harsh way. I will never, we will never, my friends and family will never go back. Hateful, just plain hateful. I really wanted to like Flip Side because I'd heard so many good things, but honestly, the food was a big letdown. Everything tasted super bland and just didn't live up to the hype. The presentation looked nice, but the flavor wasn't there at all -- it felt like something was missing from every dish. That being said, the service was actually amazing. Our server was super friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed the whole time. I really appreciated that! Overall, I'd come back for the service, but definitely not for the food. We brought a group of high school special needs students and their peer buddies to dinner before prom and we could not have had a better experience! The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and hade everything they needed. The servers were kind and patient, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect. We worked with the catering staff as well for booking and creating a menu, Aaron and Ashley were wonderful as well. They also went out of their way to make sure we were happy and we felt special. The food is made fresh every day. They get fresh local ingredients and they change their menu according to what's in season. Everything is pretty much on point. The only thing is that you're paying a ton and receiving what looks to be not enough. I realize that americas portion sizes are crazy and this is pretty standard for an upscale place. But you should just be aware what you're going to get because I've heard a lot of complaints about not receiving enough for the money. read more

They had a special which we both decided was good, surf & turf with NY strip and lobster tail. I also brought a bottle of Freixnet Cordon Negra which was so good! The front of the cafe has lots of amazing items like handmade soaps, honey, syrups, sauces, kitchen utensils and other merchandise. It was fun to look around as we waited for our reservation time to come. Escorted to our table we passed by a bar area that would be nice if you were waiting for your table and could have a drink. The main dining area held a lot of booths with some tables in the middle of the room. I think the booths gave you a certain amount of privacy and also keep the volume low so it was easy to converse with your company. Also on our table I noticed a tag with my name, reservation time and how many was expected. It was held in place with an old style clothes pin. Very cute touch and nice to see how organized they were. Our server was very attentive and answered all our questions about the items we were interested in ordering. We both ordered sweet tea with our meal and they came in what I have to believe were old fashioned jelly or jam jars! It was so appropriate! Also I barely could get my tea down a quarter of the way before she showed back up and topped off our drinks! The tea tasted like it had been sitting on the back porch all day soaking up the sun. It was just the right amount of sweet too! After we ordered we quickly got a basket of warm rolls and butter and a side salad. The salad was very bright and looked fresh and was served with dressing on the side which my friend liked. She ordered the Jereline's Chicken. It was two breaded chicken breasts, served w/ pepper gravy over mashed potatoes. I had a taste of the chicken and the breading was light and seasoned lovely and it was very juicy. I ordered the Pecan Crusted Chicken sandwich, which was fried pecan breaded chicken, lettuce, bacon, red onion on a crusty hoagie roll minus the honey Dijon. My side of fries came in what I would call a strawberry pint container. Too cute! The fries were hot and crispy! The nutty flavor of the pecans with the smokey flavor from the bacon made this sandwich a real winner! Even though the dinners filled us up there was no way we could pass up dessert. Be aware their menu does change as I was looking forward to the creme brulee but was absolutely not missing it after ordering their bourbon pecan pie. It came warm, the crust was flaky and the fresh whip cream really added to the whole bite. My friend was deeply satisfied that she got her southern meal and I couldn't stop saying "oh my god" all the way home. It was just an overall very enjoyable experience.
