I had my first experience with The Floor Store on 9th St. in San Francisco in 2019. Kristina took amazing care of us. She clearly explained and showed us all of the options. The installation of the flooring was done perfectly. 2 years later and the floor still looks brand new. I give that experience an A++++++++++. Now 2 years later, I needed some carpet installed in a store room. It never occurred to us to go anywhere but back to see Kristina. We told her what we wanted and she got up from her desk and walked us over to her recommendation, and IT WAS PERFECT. We didn't even have to look anymore. The installation of the carpet was a bit tricky because I was in a time crunch. Kristina said, Don't worry, we can take care of this for you. She squeezed me in on the perfect day. The wonderful 2 installers arrived today and did the job incredibly fast and PERFECTLY. My second experience with them was also an A++++++++++. I will never ever go anywhere else for flooring. The Floor Store and Kristina are incredibly awesome. My recent Floor Store experience began uneventfully in the showroom. Lots of choices, personable sales people, low-pressure and prices that seemed to be competitive. It was a quick painless production-line process. That is until a question or circumstance arose that demanded a non-standard answer or accountability from their operation. Here are a few examples how Floor Store dropped to a One Star Bimbo Business on my project: The Floor Store estimator was shown the shown the same floor and staircase using similar carpets as an estimator from Home Depot. Both used laser tools and spent similar amounts of time at the site. The estimates for needed carpet differed by 30+ square feet. Not trivial difference for a small area. When asked to see the proposed cutout of the carpet to understand such a difference, the Floor Store response was similar to asking for driving directions to Manitoba. "You want what? Mmmh." One Star. The 'full and complete estimate' promised by the Floor Store sales staff was a case study of opaque 'disclosure'. The project involved installing carpet on a clean hardwood floor. The estimate however listed "2 units Floor Prep" at $180. What is "Prep" for a clean wood floor? A 'dump fee' of $80 was listed despite there being no existing carpet requiring disposal. A "Minimum Labor" charge of $500 appeared along with mysterious individual labor "units". Were these 'units' seconds, minutes, hours? Or were they piece work prices?. Similarly an unexplained "Misc Charge" of $7.22 appeared in the subtotal after all other charges. Apparently it was a "why not?" fee. A conversation with the sales rep about the estimate did little to clear things up. The explanation was peppered with "that's standard", "that's how they do it", "its a requirement". One Star. At the time of the estimate the Floor Store rep was shown gaps in ten of the 12 treads on the stairway. He explained that they would be covered with metal strips under the carpet as part of the installation. The written estimate however listed metal 'noses' that would be installed over the carpet on the edge of the treads and itemized only 2 treads. Repeated calls, explanations and photos were needed to explain the error to the sales staff who promised correction. When the installers arrived to place the carpet....no strips, no knowledge of the gaps, no explanations. Work was delayed for hours waiting for materials. One Star. The finished installation was a D+ job in multiple places. The carpet's lines wandered relative to the wall and entrances. It looked like someone had pulled the carpet two inches off center and then nailed it down. The tucked edges along the wall were deep in some places but shallow in others giving the impression that the carpet didn't reach the wall. And, finally, there were the thresholds.: "Gorgeous" faux-gold metal strips rescued from the 1970s that were ill-fitted to the door jams. At completion install crew told "not acceptable" but the language barrier was too dense to effect any response. Zero Stars. Then came the Floor Store "repair." Despite the 'unacceptable' rating at the time of install, I heard nothing from them until I sent an email and photos. The 'Installation Manager' was friendly and talkative on the phone repeatedly saying "I got it." "I understand" "No problem." but he gave no explanation of how the process might have gone awry. No one expressed an interest or ever came to inspect the poor outcome. Instead, the original crew who performed the first botched install returned two weeks later. They were three hours late. Flat tire. Then ensued a comical 'conversation' using hands, the end of a screwdriver and a flashlight. Two hours and lots of stretching and thumping later, they left. Improved? Yes. Great? No. One Half Star. The story goes on with more examples of subpar service but I'll skip to the end by quoting from the sales rep's email responding to my lengthy critique: "Thank you for your input. I have forwarded this ...." No admissions. No apologies. No promises to review or improve. No real interest. No action. My final comment to Floor Store is to remind them that they are in a commodity business. Very little distinguishes them from other stores in terms of carpets, floorings or price. Your business will thrive or wither based upon the system of customer service and communication you provide. You didn't deliver and, worse, you didn't seem to care or learn from the experience. Beneath your multiple 5 Star Reviews you have multiple problems. Fix them. One Star, Barely read more

I've been to quite a few flooring stores around the Bay Area and I can say I have had the best experience at The Floor Store. I'm just getting started on my renovation which has been a drag. However the young lady I met at the store, Diamond, has been delightful to work with. She has been very patient with explaining and answering my many questions and guiding me along in this process. Kristina Harris is your go-to at The Floor Store SF! I am renovating my home and shopped around numerous places for hard wood flooring, but was having a difficult time finding an engineered floor in the size and color tones I wanted. The Floor Store ended up having a number of options that I was looking for and had all of them as samples for me to take home to see first hand how the floor would look in my space. Kristina has been super helpful and patient during my indecisive process, but she is always super quick in getting the paperwork out to me when I am ready to go. I had my main floor installed with engineered wood and her timeline estimates for getting the product were spot on, the installers were on schedule and did a great install. I then had them back to install that same wood on my second floor which they just finished and here too, the product came in when expected, the installer was on schedule and the result looks great. I just decided to use The Floor Store now for wool carpeting in my two bedrooms- I actually didn't know what I really wanted for carpeting, but they have a really large selection and I found a natural wool carpet in a tone a texture that looks and feels right, so I am looking forward to this being installed soon. I give 10 star for Shanna Dacanay if it was available. Our remodel started in February right before COVID-19 pandemic. I had already ordered all the materials needed for the project. Unfortunately, my floor materials which I had bought & paid for got stuck in the storage of the store due to the pandemic, where stores were all asked to temporarily close for business and shelter in place was imposed. They did not have curbside pickup available for their customers like some stores have. After much research I got lucky to find The Floor Store here in San Francisco open. I made an appointment and met Shanna &was able to see their showroom. They have so many beautiful selections of floor materials! I had a difficult time finding the wood floor I wanted, the color, the size of the plank and the thickness etc... But Shanna was very patient, I did not feel rushed, she was very knowledgeable of her products, very professional and treated us like like she cared! We were there past her closing time and we were never under pressure to leave. I teased her that she is a great employee because she treated us like she own the business. She gave us here 101 effort! This place might be nice when you go to buy, but once you buy it everything changes. Wait till you install it. I have scheduled a date and time for installation but they didn't show up. They didn't even call. I have scheduled another time and date. They came and told me that they do not move furniture or closet. I had to do all that by myself while the workers went to have some lunch!! Seriously!? They didn't even help with a single thing!!? The lunch trip was supposed to be an hour, but it took them more than 2 hours while i was just waiting. It is just a horrible experience for me. My initial experience with this company was positive; attentive staff, a wide variety of options, the details of cost/installation were clearly explained. Unfortunately, my experience after this was not the best. The individual assisting me had to be prompted to email necessary paperwork to my HOA. The wood I chose was suddenly unavailable one morning, then available a few hours later. In-between these few hours I went back to the store to look at other options - long story short, there was a lot of back and forth on the floor options; I do appreciate the employees' patience with me. I was initially disappointed because I didn't get the wood I wanted but what I did get looks very good and I am pleased with it. A few days before the job began the materials were delivered to my apartment, except the baseboards. The gentleman doing the installation noted that he could not proceed with the job without the baseboards and one piece for the step. Those were not delivered. I contacted JD at the store asking about these items. The discussion did not go well. "I really wish you had just gone to work." The wood piece for the step is a different color than the rest of the wood and the paint on the baseboards looks pretty bad (bubble like?). The man who did the installation offered me a can of white paint which I took to re-paint them. To the store's credit they offered to replace the baseboards but that would require getting approval from my HOA to do the work, moving my furniture again (which I had already paid to have moved), and taking more time off of work. It is my choice to be at home for the job. Some may say that's silly and unnecessary, but it's certainly my right. Overall, the floor looks nice. The step is in my closet so the fact that that one piece is a different color isn't the worst thing in the world and I'm going to fix the baseboards. If I need any floor work done again, I will not return to the floor store, nor would I refer a friend to this company. read more

Had a super smooth experience at this one stop shop for new floors. I worked with Robert who's keen design sense and attention to detail really made the difference. Robert visited my home to get a sense of the layout and furniture. He continued to coordinate through the entire install process. In particular he noted some complications with my stairs (which were also replaced), and helped ensure they were installed correctly. Guillermo and his partner installed the flooring and were extremely professional and talented with the details. This included filling nail holes (used on the stairs) such that I can't see them. When I realized the old wood floors under my condo's carpet weren't salvageable, I headed to the San Francisco store to see what my options were. Shanna helped me out, patiently explaining the differences between hardwood, engineered hardwood, and laminate. When I opted to go for engineered hardwood, she informed me of which types of flooring were the best deal, the most popular, and in stock, since I was on somewhat of a time crunch. It was the final day of the store's sale, and she said that I could lock in the sale price (and no sales tax) with a small deposit. Even after I ordered flooring and put down the deposit, the service continued to be great. Shanna was super responsive and quick to correct a minor error (that I missed!) on the estimate/invoice. Both material delivery and installation were within the scheduled time, and installation even took less time than estimated. There was no mess left behind. The floors look great, and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for hardwood flooring. (I'm sure other flooring installations would be just as good.) After I told him the interaction between myself and the employee, he stated that he will "make it right" and order the hard to get part for me. Hector called me several time with an update on the part arrival. Yesterday I went by the store to pick up the part and talked to Hector. Shanna Dacanay was our sales superstar when we decided to take out our carpeting on our top floor and replace with hardwood floors, and replace all of our current carpeting throughout the remainder of the house with something fresh/new. Shanna was fantastic to work with. There were a couple of missteps with the delivery/install company, but they are a subcontractor to The Floor Store so I don't think that has any bearing on Shanna and her level of customer support throughout the entire transaction. We were very happy with our overall experience with The Floor Store. The install was done perfectly and the installation team was great. Friendly/personable installers. The Floor Store is the best resource in SF. We had carpets replaced here. It was a smooth process. We walked in and Kristina greeted us right away. Even with hundreds of samples to choose from, She took us directly to the sample that fit our use and durability requirements and within our budget. She showed us higher grade options also so that we could make an informed decision. With their large showroom, the entire process took less than an hour and we were on our way. This was a big decision to select the right color. She offered us to take samples home and make sure we were choosing the right color for our space. We slept on it overnight and came back to place the order. After we placed the order, she called us to tell us when our carpet will arrive and when we would get a call for measurements and site review. That also went very smoothly. After that, installation team took over. They called to set up date and time. For installation, we were assigned to Alberto and team. There were three of the most delightful crew ever. In order to minimize our disruption, they worked 12 hours straight to get it done in one day. We had a large room that involved furniture movements, removal of old and replacing with new. In addition there were several stairs who's is very cumbersome to install. Nothing but smiles while they worked a long tiring day. From start to finish, it was a delightful experience. I would come back to them again as future needs develop. I highly recommend them for any size project. read more

I recently moved here and renewed my flooring in my apartment, with a very specific wood finish in mind I came to the floor store. Bret showed me all the different possibilities (the floor store really offers a lot!) I tried several other stores in the area as well (at least three others) no one else was able or willing to take our special request further. Especially because it was not really a lot of material that I needed. Bret was able to find a custom solution for me. After checking a couple of samples we finally found the right finish. The whole searching process was very well managed and you really feel that you are in best hands. We had a wonderful experience working with Kristina. She spent several weeks helping us choose the right kitchen floor, and answering tons of questions. We live in a very old house and we were trying to figure out if we would need to replace the subfloor, and Kristina figured out a way to give us flexibility to decide that at the last minute. Kristina also gave us a great deal and we paid much less than we were quoted at other places. After having a night mare of an experience with the leading floor and carpet installers. The ones with the 888 jingle. This fiesco lasted 3 weeks, from the day the floor should of been installed. Some one recommended to me The Floor Store, so I gave them a shout. After the initial call my faith in mankind started to recover. Within 2 days I was scheduled a in home viewing of samples / consultation. In walks an angel named Shawna, with sample flooring boards in her grasp. Her professionalism, knowledge balanced with her sense of humor had me sold. Within 7 days I had a impressive new floor installed. We went here yesterday to shop for some tile and LVT flooring. Andrew was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and patient. He had thoughtful input and helped us compare color schemes (including retrieving sheets of white paper to mimic walls, etc.). He also called back to follow up, as promised. We had a small project for the kitchen floor after having a burst water heater. We thought this project was really too small and too complicated. We wanted what Pinterest calls "transitional flooring" as a way to fix the floor instead of replacing the floating Pergo floor in the whole flat. We were trying to avoid having to move out of the house with all our belongings and two 17-year-old cats. Hector listened patiently to our idea and surprisingly went along with it, including looking on Pinterest. Patrick came to the house to measure and he creatively and attentively added ideas and suggestions to how to do it. Antonio came with the materials and added his ideas to the design and did the installation perfectly. The transition between the two flooring materials is seamless.
