They have a great selection but the service is really poor. I'm replacing about 1300 ft of flooring in my home with hardwood. I walked in and asked where I might find engineered hardwood and was ignored by the two people at the frontdesk. Eventually one of them pointed to his left side and let me know that that entire side of the store was hardwoods. That was all the service that I received. I walked around the empty store by myself, eventually one other customer came in but none of the seven people working could be bothered to help me or check in on me. After 15 minutes of being ignored I walked out. The person helping the one other customer had a desk by the exit and asked as I walked out of I had been helped. I said no, but at that point I was already upset with them. Apparently they really just didn't want my business. read more

Taking our business somewhere else. We came in today 7/11/2023 and wanted a price quote for flooring. We were told to stand over to the side and wait for someone to help us. While the guy up front tapped away on his computer and ignored us the rest of the time. Waited probably 15-20 minutes when another customer entered the building and got immediate help from computer guy. Not ok. Made us feel awful. We had our 3 year old with us too. Waste of time. We added an addition and the only thing that went wrong was the floor store's installation of the floor. We were unable to use the addition because it was so out of level. The general contractors did all they could to find the cause. They finally pulled up the floor and found that the floor store's installers had used leveling compound and did so in a haphazard way. I called the store to come out, but they never came. However the company assured us they would stand by their commitment to excellent customer service and worked with us. We are so appreciative. Smaller job equals no assistance. We were looking at redoing tile in our entryway. They told us to go to Emser show room (only open m-f on contractor hours) to pick out tile. We took the day off just to go pick out the tile. Went back to the floor store and was told they had to look up the price and they would get back to me. After the 3rd time asking if they can send someone out to give a bid on the job I was told he would be out Tuesday (this was Saturday). A week and half later I still never heard back from them about anything. The entire time we got attitude and treated like we were an inconvenience. Funny thing is we realized the new tile would make the stairway carpet look horrible so now changing that. A 2 thousand job has turned to an 8k one so their loss. read more

After order was placed there was a hiccup on delivery times but everything turned out nicely we were able to pick up our flooring within 2 weeks of ordering it. So as you can see I got a comment from the store owner. Too little too late. My parents spent thousands of dollars for new tile and new hardwood floor for their house. They have concluded their relationship with The Floor Store by paying $400 for them to epoxy a single tile when it was supposed to be replaced. They have also cut up their Floor Store credit card and canceled the account since it is clearly useless. Seems to me all is good when you're paying them a lot of money. If my family needs new flooring we'll take our business elsewhere. read more

So, the follow up to this job: They had a third party inspector come our to inspect the job. He brought all kinds of fancy tools and lasers to document the floors. During our first job we really didn't know what we were doing and later discovered that the floors dipped down by almost 1/4 inch from level in one area and told them this was a defect in the installation. The inspectors final report told us that the weight of the staircase caused the sagging and that we had a sump pump under our house! I know exactly what a sum pump is, and it requires electricity and a hose that is connected to the sump pump. He took a picture by opening up the hatch leading to the underside of the house and the picture he took was upside down as he leaned down. He never even actually crawled under the house. He took a picture of something and said that we had a sump pump and that there was a lot of moisture under our house that contributed to that sagging. So within hours of seeing his report, I immediately went over with my friend at work who installed floors for 25 years and found the exact area where he took the picture, which was right next to the hatch. It was a picture of Coax TV cable wire. ! I've been living in this house for 20 years, and I guarantee you that there is no sump pump under my house and I have been under my house many times. We even had a complete overhaul of our duct work a few years ago and have rerouted tv coax wire to move it to another room. We brought this back to the attention of the floor store, and their inspector said that he "stands by His findings of the sump pump. ". Now I know for sure that everyone involved with the floor store is incompetent. I'm actually even wondering if the inspector work for the floor store it really wasn't even a third-party independent person. And also the report said my staircase helped cause the sagging in the floor on the first job and that jacks under the steel floor store testify that the floors were jacked up. Once again, I have been here for 20 years and have not had anything jacked up under the house. From everything that I saw, they installed the floors two years ago without leveling the floor and now we are stuck with a floor that we paid almost $10,000 (just for the first job) that is not level. And the other glaring issue that we first pointed out to them on the 2nd job where the carpet met the trim that was sagging, took over five months for them to come back and fix! Again, that took three or four more emails bouncing around between a few people and the manager at the floor store. I'm just not sure how they stay in business. I see commercials on the TV all the time for this company and thought they would be good because they were so big. That is definitely not the case. My recommendation is zero stars for all the aggravation, waste of time, incompetent, work, and lack of empathy from the actual store. I hope you are reading this review Larry Flick, who is the owner of the floor store. I am not happy with your company and between the two jobs we have done with you. We have spent $15-$20,000. I will never recommend the floor store ever to anyone, and just continues to be a story that I tell people about all the time in my inner circle of friends And acquaintances. Was looking for vinyl flooring and didn't know anything about it, went to The Floor Store and was greeted right away and introduced to Henry Rodriguez who was super knowledgeable and helpful. He asked the application, I gave him the measurements, and he showed me the choices, including what was in stock and how long any of the other flooring would take to arrive. I overordered and returning the unopened remainder the next day for refund was easy and then I told him I needed a transition strip and he cut a piece of the material that he thought would work and sent me on my way. I had a terrible experience with The Floor Store and definitely would not use them again. They did my floors about a year ago but I'm constantly reminded of their poor work when I see the parts they left poorly done or incomplete. Communication was terrible and I had to call to ask if they were done and if we'd be doing a final walk through. I highly recommend not painting before getting your floors done, because you'll have to repaint after all the dents and scratches they add to your walls, door frames etc. The transition piece between my living room and kitchen has been lifting since the day the installed it. Horrible, stressful experience. Poor communication- had to ask when job would be done, had to ask when walkthrough would be done, no contact after floor was finished to wrap things up. STAY AWAY! I have never reviewed on Yelp but felt the need to warn consumers of this place, in hopes of saving others from an absolutely awful experience with The Floor Store in Santa Rosa. Customer service is non-existent. Robert and Alan, the "Sales Associates" specialize in over-promising and under-delivering on both installation dates and carpet pricing. Henry the "Assistant Manager" lacks basic customer service skills and respect. The Floor Store employees blatantly lied to us to get the deal done, wasted our time with multiple trips to the store due to Henry's mistake in not communicating an inventory delay (for what should have been 1 simple single-room carpet install) and when it came time to finalize pricing of the final carpet, Robert & Henry collectively dropped the ball on pricing agreements made in-person. Management (Damion) never answered the phone when we called on multiple occasions attempting to sort out the problem. Their lack of communication both internally and externally makes you wonder how they are still in business. Perhaps worst of all, customer service common sense is so nonexistent at The Floor Store that we never received a single apology for the headaches they caused. Don't waste your time on these guys. I think the hardest thing about getting new flooring is picking out just the right color and style for your project. At the Santa Rosa store Henry Rodriguez was very helpful and sent me home with samples so I could make certain of my choice. I chose a luxury, waterproof vinyl (Gold Acacia) for my Master Suite and Walk In closet and was thrilled with the quality, service, professionalism and attention to detail by their experienced installers, Leonardo and Hernan. Also after my carpeting was removed the installers discovered a sinking floor which was quickly and expertly remedied with a leveling cement. Hank, the coordinator was responsive and easy to work with too. When I'm ready to do the rest of my home with new flooring I will definitely return to the Floor Store.
