Left 3/4 of meal on table ad we lost appetite over 90 minutes wait & food was sub-par when served. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME & HARD MONEY HERE. Sounds like this is standard experience here. Just popped in for a drink. We were on vacation and looking for an open bar and not having much luck. Finally came across this place and were glad we did. The bartenders were seriously so much fun! There was a possible big storm headed our way so everyone was scrambling to get stuff done so they could hopefully get out before it started, but they did not neglect us for one second. I gave this bar 3 stars because the oysters were delicious! I ordered a Bloody Mary because when I Yelped best Bloody Mary, this restaurant came up. Well it was disappointing . For starters, no garnishments. The taste was alright but nothing spectacular, needed to add our own hot sauce. read more

My dad and his friends come here at least once a week while they're in town to get a good beer and some delicious oysters. Service was very friendly, made some great recommendations on what to try. We ended up with oysters and loaded potatoes with seafood cheese sauce on top. Both were good, we left full and had leftovers. Had a few craft beers, and my dad was able to get his draft Yuenglings. This place was the perfect place for dinner that my fiancé and I had our first night in Gulf Shores. The place is small so do espect a wait, but it was worth it! We both loved the dive bar ambiance feel to this place! We started with ordering a dozen oysters which were delicious! I ordered the beef poboy and my fiancé had the crab cake poboy. Our family of 7 tried this place last night. First impressions were meh. There was an area out front where a hostess should be, but there was no one. After going inside, I asked the bartender if they have an area for 7. He said you'd have to try upstairs so we went. No hello. No greeting at all. No worries. We're just looking to eat. We went upstairs, seeing if they have the room. They did! Great. Family sits down to have the bartender take our drink order. Drinks were great. Bushwacker and Rum Runner were extremely delicious. Now is where it starts to turn sour. We placed our order and after placing our order, the rest of the upstairs is quickly filled. An hour and 20 minutes we had to wait for our food. 80 minutes to make shrimp and shrimp related items. During this period, we were NOT updated on the time frame of our food or if they were short staffed in the kitchen. At about the 1 hour mark, we asked the bartender if the food was coming. I believe I was respectful in asking since we had waited an hour. I was then told that the food was running behind. Ya think?!? Another 10 minutes passes as we contemplate just getting up, paying for our drinks and calling it a night. Another waitress said our food would be up to which we said, you have 5 minutes or we're gone. Magically, the pizza, and buffalo shrimp are ready, both which could have taken a mere minutes to prepare. (The pizza was cold btw and had to be reheated) We quickly scarfed down the food we had, which was mediocre at best and ridiculously overpriced. The pizza is glorified garlic bread with tomato sauce and cheese. It's the families first night on vacation and it was just an awful experience I don't wish for anyone else to have. I try to have grace as it's not the servers fault as she was bartending and serving. It sounds like the kitchen was horrendous and the lack of communication from kitchen to servers is horrid. We never saw a manager and no one came up to ask how everything was. I would only rate this two stars for the drinks. The food I would pass on. We will not be revisiting this place again. read more

This was such a pleasant surprise! Considering it's a bar atmosphere, we weren't sure what to expect. We did have a little bit of a wait, but nothing too crazy, & then everything we ordered came out fresh & delicious. Both my kids asked for crab legs today, & they were awesome, especially for the price. My husband said the wings were the best meal of our trip for him, & my shrimp po'boy was really good. I was sad to see poor reviews when my family and I loved our experience at the flying harpoon. there was plenty of outdoor seating (not to mention dog friendly). we did wait a bit for the food to come out but we didn't mind as they were clearly busy and this gave my family and I some extra time to hangout and enjoy the beautiful weather! plus our server was very sweet and helpful. the fried shrimp was very yummy as were the house made potato chips! don't let looks deceive you because this was a great dinner spot! read more

We arrived as soon as they opened and were the first group in! Which worked out great as we had a party of 9. The one lady waiting tables, bless her heart, was wonderful and going 400 directions once more people started coming in. She stayed on top of everything though. The place inside is a little dark, but the decoration unique. There are dollar bills from all over that are signed by people, AND they let you color no matter your age and come up with funny art for the walls. It's clever and honestly so entertaining to see what some people come up with. Plus keeps people off their phones at the table as they draw random beach stuff :) They have a pet alligator out back named Taylor. I suggest going out and seeing if you can say hello to Taylor. Also, half the food is named Poon. So makes for a good chuckle (if you have a dirty mind). Our group was across the board with different items we tried. Mostly it was sandwiches including the roast beef, sausage and shrimp po-boy. The roast beef, as amazing as it sounded on the menu, was not that amazing. It was ok, but just ok. The sausage sub though was good with flavor. But nothing topped the shrimp po-boy. Everyone who had that just loved it. You need to get the cajun remoulade sauce that is an option to come on it and put it on there. If not its just bland to some degree, but once you top it with that sauce, you'll be satisfied to a tee. Also, order some homemade chips. They serve them with some kind of ranch-like dipping sauce but they were seriously amazing. I say sadly only because I would really like to come visit the resident alligator who lounges our back in the around the little island outgrowth behind the 6" chicken wire, yep. Maybe I'll visit when this place is closed because I won't run the risk of getting close to the food again. I am really not someone who likes to say anything bad but everything here was really bad. The service, the floors, the atmosphere and especially the food. There was nothing redeeming about this stop other than the cute little floater out back. I am not going to go into specifics but the cornbread dish that were highly recommending was undercooked and nine kinds of awful and the other three things we tried were almost as bad. They took the cornbread disaster off my bill and I left everything else on the table, paid and ran for my life. It's been a couple years since we have been to FH2 but we were VERY happy to find the food as good as always. You canNOT beat the Buffalo Shrimp and chips. Normally this place is wonderful, but the last time we went in (wearing masks) and waited at our table a very long time: note: they were not busy. We were asked if we were "Biden" supporters - I asked why and was told it was because we were wearing masks. We heard whispers while we waited being referred to as "tourists" (also due to the masks I guess?). I was just totally blown away by the childishness in this restaurant and the fact that they made pure safety precautions into a political issue. Normally when we visit the coast a few days we go there at least a couple of times, but they have now lost us as paying tourists forever.
