Was told at check in our dog was able to dine outside patio at the restaurant. Was told at the hostess station that we could dine with our dog outside on the patio and waited an hour to be seated . When being seated, was told that we cannot have our dog after all. We were escorted to an outdoor area that was not part of the restaurant where we could order takeout. Pedestals. Never healthy. Just makes the fall worse. I was staying at a friends house in Sundance, I stay there during my Utah visits about every other year, and I was hangry. I had really talked the Foundry Grill up to dining partner and was excited to take him there for breakfast. I've eaten at the Foundry for dinner before, it was fantastic. I've had the salmon and the filet mignon. Perfection, plus it was backed up by attentive service and a great atmosphere. We were pumped to head down the mountain for a stunning breakfast! Ready for a wonderful morning retreat with fabulous food! Hmmmm. How the mighty fall We stood at the hostess stand for 8, yes 8 minutes. It started to get awkward. Finally someone walked over from the store counter and asked if we wanted something. Ummm. Yes, we do. We'd like to eat. He went to alert the hostess...it still took a few more minutes till we were seated. Please note, there were only two tables occupied...so, pretty much empty. Breakfast was okay. I had Huevos Rancheros, my breakfast companion had the Foundry Breakfast. Nothing to brag about. I wish I had gotten the Trout Hash, but the server said it was to fishy tasting. We came up here for an anniversary dinner this weekend, and our experience was stellar. Beautiful location, staff and patrons were taking extra safety precautions but it didn't take away from the atmosphere at all-- if anything, it enhanced the experience because it made everything feel even more intimate. They have tables spaced out and have added more outdoor seating. Everyone wears masks until they get to their table and then you can take your mask off. Employees wear masks the whole time and were still as friendly and attentive as ever. I don't think our water was ever left less than full (which was a feat because we were so thirsty after our zip line excursion). The Canyon Breeze drink was refreshing and delicious and all of our food was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back! read more

We went to brunch with my family, as we do at least eight times a year. We were all looking forward to it because it is always so abundant and delicious. This time, however, we were quite disappointed. There seems to be less choice of food, the lamb and brisket were very tough and tasteless and the dishes were not replenished on time as they should. After spending a whole morning wandered around the resort, this is the perfect place to rest my feet and have some good food. Love the ambiance and interior design. My friend and I were planning to sit outdoor, however they were full at that moment, so we decided to go inside instead of a 30 minutes wait. I am really glad we did that because I really love the decorations inside. Most of the furnitures were made of wood and I am a huge fan of wood furniture. It also has a whole wall decorated with tools such as axe, hammer, saw, etc. I think it's super cool. As for the food, I started with their soup of the day-white pine soup with chicken. It was delicious. It's more like a vegetables soup. I really like how the white pine has given the soup an extra flavor of awesomeness. For entrée, we took our server's recommendation and ordered penne pasta and steak sandwich. The pasta could be a little plain at first, but once you mix in the goat cheese, the flavor would start kicking in. Their goat cheese is quite powerful, so those who are not a big fan of goat cheese should go for something else. Don't blame me if you don't like the pasta. You have been warned! We both think the steak sandwich was more like a Japanese sandwich than an American sandwich. Though the meat was a bit overcooked, we still think it's good, especially with the caramelized onions and baguette. I have to mention their bread, I'll hate myself if I didn't recommend them to you guys. Their bread was one of the best I've ever had. Our server brought us a plate of cheese bread after my soup, we already fell in love with the bread at that minute since it was crispy outside but soft and warm inside, and than the sandwich came in, we couldn't resist but found ourselves keep sticking our fingers to the cheese bread and sandwich and forgot about the rest of the food. We arrived and told they had closed the patio and were only seating inside. We were seated inside in a back corner along with another table of 6 seated right next to our table. No social distancing We left the restaurant and the entire patio was seated and occupied. Disappointed we had not been seated outside We asked to talk to a manager. Came in for a late dinner with coworkers. The atmosphere here was incredible and the food matched. We had a charcuterie board and dirty fries to start. I ordered the salmon and the Mac and cheese. I came here for a business dinner tonight. I've never eaten here before but had seen it while in the area. Likes: I ordered the bison steak. The meat was cooked just right, the flavors were excellent, and the portion size was pretty decent. For dessert we ordered the Smore's skillet cookie. It had plenty for four of us to share and was divine! If you like chocolate you will love this dessert! Dislikes: I feel like the food was a bit overpriced. Even though my steak was pretty big I probably would've only paid $30 to get the same steak elsewhere. Also, it came with hardly any vegetables on the side, maybe 8 little string beans. All in all I enjoyed my experience. The scenery here is absolutely beautiful and the temperatures are cooler up at Sundance on those hot summer days. If you're in the area I would encourage you to check it out. If you'd like to save some money I would recommend going for lunch since the prices are not quite as steep. read more

First time at the Foundry Grill. It was a good experience. We went for Christmas Eve Dinner, and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. I had the Short Ribs, and they were amazing. Tender and juicy, and the root vegetables were delicious. My wife had the filet, and it was cooked perfectly. She usually has to send it back to get it right, but not here. She loved her filet. My mother had the Trout. It is from a local farm, not fresh caught, but she loved it. My only complaint is the cost of the spritzers. $5 for a soda is a bit expensive for me, even though I'm from Chicago and everything is expensive. We had the Skillet Cookie for dessert, and it was phenomenal. Chewy and warm. The cookie with the Ice Cream on top really hit the spot. Everything, including our server Patrick, as excellent. He even gave my mom a free refill on her spritzer. It was a great experience. read more

Maybe it was just an off night, but our first visit was pretty underwheing. Setting is beautiful and the restaurant itself looks great. Rustic wooden tables and classy, muted mountain decoration. The restaurant was less than half full (maybe 1/3?) on a Friday night at 6pm. First issue arose with our initial drink order after being seated. It took well over 15 minutes (in fact, the calamari and salad orders beat the drinks by 5 minutes). My martini was mistakenly made with sweet vermouth, so it had to be remade. Dinners arrived surprisingly quickly after placing the order and portion sizes were good and overall quality great. The buffalo ribeye, unfortunately, was served over a bed of carrot puree (which I'd asked to omit). They took back the plate and it came out 5 min later sans the carrot puree, but you could still taste it on the steak. One bite into dinner we aldo ordered a second round of drinks. Yet again, super slow service - we received the drinks after our dinner plates were picked up, and my wife's cocktail had two dead (very small) insects floating on top. The manager received the feedback well, and took off one cocktail and the ribeye (which wasn't necessary - but appreciated). Food quality and atmosphere were 5 stars. Poor service / attention to detail unfortunately ruined the dinner for our party of four. read more

Before embarking on a hike my dad and I enjoyed lunch at this charming restaurant in Sundance. This is a must if you're in the Sundance area! Start with the raspberry iced tea, which actually has real raspberries in it. No wonder it costs $4.50 a glass! For lunch we split the fish tacos and the margherita pizza...both absolutely delicious! I'd definitely get the fish tacos again, but would probably try something else on the menu instead of the pizza next time. Service was top notch, the atmosphere couldn't be cuter, and the food was outstanding! So head on over, eat up, and then work it off on a hike (or skiing if it's winter). read more

One of my very favorite lunch spots and a great place for groups. Appetizers are always fantastic, so don't miss getting one of those! The menu rotates regularly so be sure to ask for specials and any seasonal highlights. I've always been very impressed by the sandwiches. Giving 4 stars because the pastas have always been a miss for me both in flavor and portion size. After lunch, head up the canyon for a beautiful view of Deer Creek Reservoir. $45 for two people for a mediocre lunch, so yeah, I've experienced better. BF and I went to check out Sundance and grab some lunch. We were told the wait to sit outside was just a few minutes but I was disappointed to wait closer to 15 minutes and watch others who arrived after us be seated first. I guess as tables for four opened, they sat parties of four that just arrived, and waited for a two-top to open for us Anyway, our waitress was cute and friendly so that was definitely a plus. BF had fish tacos with a green salad and I had the chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. BF and I were both going to munch on the fries so we were bummed that they were cold upon arrival. Perhaps if we had done big hike or long bike ride before our lunch it would have tasted better but for the famed Sundance Resort I expected more. :-( read more

Great vibes. Very cabin-like decor and beautiful Mountain View's from the window. We ordered every appetizer and each one was delicious. Specifically, we loved the fried artichoke and the cheese and meat plate! They tend to run out of the trout pretty early in the night. I was hoping to order that but by 7 it was gone so I went with the short rib which was incredible! The puréed pumpkin was amazing with the meat. The rotolo had an interesting tougher texture than we imagined, but had a good cheesy taste to it. Filet minion won our vote! The meat was cooked so well and tasted very fine. I tried the Bison Steak, when I went here for my birthday with family last night, and I was really excited because from the photos and reviews I saw on here, it looked delicious. The appetizers we got were great, the charcuterie board was delicious and the Brussels sprouts were amazing, but the ribeye was very disappointing, too charred, and had none of the flavor that you would expect from a $72 steak. If they would have had a steak sauce like A1or any other flavor in a marinade or rub. If the steak would have retained any juiciness during the cooking it probably would have been amazing, but this was a subpar attempt at a gourmet steak, without any juiciness or flavor. I don't know if I'd come back here for anything other than their brunch, which I've had before and was absolutely delicious. I have had better steaks at Texas Roadhouse for around $25. The only reason I give it 3 stars and not 2 is because the appetizers were so good, and the ambiance was great, in addition to a previous experience I had for brunch here. Be warned, if you go here for dinner, especially for a special occasion, I wouldn't recommend the ribeye, you'd be better off spending much less and just getting appetizers. Bison Steak read more

The Foundry Grill was rustic but beautiful. Our server was top notch and willingly exchanged my green salad (which had way too much frisée lettuce for my taste) for another option. There wasn't much on the menu for vegetarians/vegans however, except for salads. The sandwich of the day was a grilled tofu so I went with that option and it was just ok. Robert Redford if you are listening (or hopefully your restaurant manager) there is an awesome vegan burger option called "the impossible burger" that is soooo good and would make a great addition to your menu! We had enjoyed The Foundry on three prior occasions, but it has gone downhill. We went there this morning for Sunday brunch, and it was a disaster. The table was within inches of a screechy service door that workers kept using, and ithe table was too close to a food servers work station. At the buffet, so many of the serving dishes were disappointingly empty, severely limiting our options. We had to find a food server to get silverware on our table. I asked to see the manager about the unbelievable seating situation, telling her about the screechy door that was within inches of my ear and the claustrophic positioning of the table, and she feigned interest. No apology or offer to re-seat us. We left before most of us finished out first plate. Still hungry, we found a roadside cafe in Heber that served a tastier breakfast than what the much more expensive Foundry put out. read more
