The worst meal I have had in all of Utah! The food was cold when it was supposed to be hot. The server was terrible. He went on a break in the middle of his shift and had no cover. They had more staff but no one did a thing. I couldn't even get my water refilled. The Ambiance is the only cute vibe with a fireplace. Honestly it's better to grab a wrap at the outside deli than waste your time and money even attempting to eat here. Our experience at The Foundry Grill was great! We came in without reservation on a Saturday a little bit before noon and was seated right away. I realized when we headed out that it was actually very good timing because just a little bit after 12:30pm that people were forming lines. We ordered the Canyon breeze (fruit juice combo), charcuterie board and turkey dip with garlic fries. Everything was great and I had to say the charcuterie board was the star of the meal. Bread was good, cheese was good, so were pickles, mountain honey, jam, peeled almonds, the meat... Quite literally everything was a delight! read more

Can't beat the outdoor patio setting. We enjoyed a lovely lunch in the shade (warm day). Our table was feeling like hamburgers, so we all ordered their Black Angus cheeseburgers with fries, and shared the Brussel sprouts too. Yum! We especially enjoyed the house made honey mustard dipping sauce. Food was excellent, service was slightly slow. Friendly servers, felt just a bit understaffed (but who isn't these days). Amazing food and atmosphere (of course, you're in Sundance). The cocktails were very good. We shared the bison ribeye and it was so juicy and enough for us to split. Two appetizers helped with that, too. The only thing for improvement is service. I'm not lowering a star because of it, because our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu and drinks. The only thing was we only saw him twice throughout our meal. We had to ask another server if we can get another drink and again to ask for the check. I was expecting to be treated like an important person given this is deemed a fine establishment. That became a fallacy upon how I was greeted, if you call it that, by the hostess. She acted as though we were putting her out by telling her we had a reservation. She firmly told us our reservation was at 7 and wait until then. My husband asked where we are supposed to wait -- outside or here. With a tone of disgust, she replied, "You can wait wherever you want as long as you're back by 7." Really snippy -- not a good first impression. Our server somewhat made up for it as he was as personable as they come. I must say my next disappointment came with the food -- particularly every dish. The salmon was average, the potatoes were nothing spectacular. Don't even get me started on the carrot cake -- which seemed like a cousin of a recipe of a community cookbook's version of banana bread. Someone missed the memo that cream cheese somehow needs a bigger appearance in the frosting of carrot cakes. For the price point of the entrees, I was severely disappointed in the quality of food. This review is of the food from the Foundry Grill at their 'car cafe'. You reserve a spot, drive up and park in a designated parking stall and enjoy the views as you eat great food. With Covid19 shutting things down the Foundry Grill was serving lunch with a view. We got a reservation for my wife's birthday and had a great outdoor lunch at the very socially distanced parking in their large lot. We dropped the tailgate and had a great lunch in the bed of the truck. We had their spaghetti and grilled wagyu burger. Both were excellent. We also shared an order of dirty fries. How can you resist with a name like that? They were quite unique in that they had a sous vide egg and some really nice spice which made for a great side dish to share. Others in our group had a couple of their pizzas. Everyone had great compliments for the food. The service was great and quite prompt. It was a wonderful meal in the great outdoors. Where to start?! Parking is a nightmare. Unless you're willing to shuttle bus or pay for valet, don't waste your time here. We had two couples, and the first couple was sat a couple minutes before our reservation. We arrived on time, and we were told we didn't have a reservation at all. We ended up waiting 15 min before they realized that the other half of our party was inside waiting for us. We should have seen this as the bad omen that it was!! Drink service was super slow. We had people with dry glasses multiple times throughout the evening. My husband and I ordered the prime rib to share, and our friend ordered the fillet. Both came out severely overdone, we ended up sending them both back to the kitchen, which we never do, they were that bad. The second round took forever. Our poor friend ate her entire meal by herself. Our entire experience took nearly two hours (which wouldn't have been so bad if the drink service was quicker). At the end of the evening, there was no offer of a discount or free dessert or anything. Not required, but would have gone a long way to at least acknowledge the multiple misses throughout the night. This was the most expensive and worst meal I've had in a long time. I'm not sure if Foundry is just resting on their laurels with travelers that won't return anyway, but as locals, we won't be making the trip back up anytime soon. read more

For starters, the dirty fries has the perfect balance of taste and texture, the baked mac & cheese could have taken me over completely if I lacked self control, and the utah peaches and burrata were gone real quick. For my main course l ordered the Cacio E Pepe and I'm still dreaming of it. We have been regulars at the FG Sunday brunch, and usually we find it enjoyable. Our past visit however was disappointing. We had to wait about 5 minutes for plates to be available in the buffet. The pork loin was overcooked and dry. The omelette station had a 10 minute wait. The eggs Benedict were barely cooked, and the English muffin was not toasted so it was soggy. A number of other dishes were waiting to be replenished and what was left in the pans was not appetizing. All in all it left us wishing we had prepared brunch at home. read more

My husband and I dined at the foundry Grill last night to celebrate his birthday. They set us up with a wonderful table by the fireplace, and as always the atmosphere was great. We started with a cheese board which was so yummy. Loaded with great salami's and cheeses as well as tons of picked vegetables, honey, mustard, jam, etc. Our entrees were phenomenal. My husband had the bison ribeye and I had the Cacio e Pepe. They both were perfectly prepared. My husband loved the cocktails including their signature Old Fashion. More importantly- in addition to the wonderful food, our server, Justin, was totally amazing. He was so attentive and sweet and took such great care of us. We were the last table in the place (yup, those annoying people) but the staff didn't make us feel rushed, instead they chatted with us and were patient and sweet. 10/10. read more

The food was delicious and we loved the outdoor seating ambience. It did get a little chilly for dinner so I would recommend a sweater if you're sitting outside. Dogs are not allowed inside but I was so grateful we were able to tie up our puppy outside and watch him from the outdoor seating area. read more

I can't recommend this place enough! We went here for my wife's birthday dinner and we practically licked every plate clean! The food is unbelievable. But it's not JUST the food that's great here, it's the ambiance. The restaurant is tucked away in the mountains right at the base of the Sundance ski resort. The building is old, rustic, and covered in historical pictures of Robert Redford and the history of the resort. Before dinner we did the Stewart Falls hike (takes only about an hour or two not too far from the Foundry) and it rounded the evening off as an epic summer night. Some of our favorites from the menu were the Brussels sprouts, the pork chop, and the charcuterie. But if I'm totally honest, everything we ate was spectacular. The food was gourmet, perfectly cooked, and each dish had its own little unique flair. I loved the fruit sauce on the pork chop, the meat was so tender and flavorful! The restaurant is pricey ($30-$40 a plate for the better dishes) but it honestly seems fair for how good and well done it is. The service was awesome too. Our waiter Skyler was really knowledgeable and attentive. Overall a great experience. Check this place out! Well worth the trip to Sundance! read more

Drove the Alpine Loop to Sundance, stunning drive and stunning location. We ate a quick Lunch at The Foundry. No outside seating available so settled for inside. Every employee was kind and helpful. We each had a cold beer, refreshing for a warm summer day. Salmon Tacos and The Hanger Steak sandwich. Both good sized portions, tasted great and the garlic fries were delicious. I think they are oven cooked not deep fried and I like it! I would add some salt to the beans that accompanied the Salmon tacos and add some more avocado crema as well but those are small hang ups. The dinner dishes were impressive, I was worried my chickpea dish would be similar to a dish I make at home. It was SO much better. Completely elevated and to die for. Breakfast was the second best part of my day at Sundance Mountain Resort. Skiing the mountain was first. I am a foodie to the core and love the whole experience of dining out. The atmosphere at the Foundry is warm and rustic with a beautiful mural of running wild horses and fireplaces burning. The tall back soft leather chairs are so comfortable you can sit and really relax. Love the water here at the resort. It tastes like it was out of the crisp river flowing by. I took our servers recommendation and had the carrot toast. AMAZING! Crisp toast with roasted baby carrots and buttermilk cream drizzling around the plate with two perfectly poached eggs sitting high with hazelnuts for a nice crunch. I decided to surprise my wife for Valentine's and take her to The Foundry Grill. Neither of us had been before and we were pleasantly surprised upon arriving at just how great the ambiance was. My wife ordered the flat iron steak which was delicious and cooked exactly how she ordered. I ordered the short rib which was fall apart tender and had a delicious sauce and Brussels sprouts to go with. We also order the dirty fries to start with which was easily the star of the show. You have to order it. The service was great and our waitress was attentive. Our drinks were full the whole night which is very important to us. To round out our meal we order the campfire cookie because why not? It was oh so good let's just say we cleaned the pan. I guess if you're overly picky or feel like you have to nit pick every little thing about a restaurant you may not like it here, but we sure did love it and will hopefully be back. read more

We got the charcuterie which was excellent, lots of options, great cheeses, wonderful local honey. And we had the pork tacos appetizer which was solid. For the main course we had the burger (juicy house-ground beef and aged cheddar with a delicious baked top) and the roasted chicken which honestly was stunning. A nice salty, herbed exterior and juicy, luscious white breast inside. Flavor in every bite. Also the mixed drinks are quite good with the mountain cooler being a favorite. This really does offer a dining experience that's uncommon for the area. I'd recommend this over the Tree Room. read more

The Foundry Grill at Sundance is a rustic restaurant with great ambiance and a good menu. We've eaten here for breakfast and dinner several times and generally enjoyed our meals, but sometimes it's hit and miss. Tonight I ordered the fillet with a garden salad and macaroni and cheese. The steak was overall pretty good, but was overcooked and underseasoned. I ordered the steak medium and it was medium well to well done in parts. It also needed salt badly and was much better when properly seasoned. The garden salad was great. The macaroni and cheese was pretty good. I also enjoyed a couple of good Old Fashion cocktails with my meal. John, our server was great. He was friendly, attentive, and took good care of our table. Here's my experience... I called at 8:30 on a Saturday night to see if they could seat me and my date. She said they didn't have any openings but after a little more talking she said she could fit me in at 9:15. When I arrived we were ushered into a completely empty dinning area! It made me wonder why all the fuse about getting a table? They sat us at a table that was directly over an AC vent, freezing. When our waitress arrive, she was clearly in a bad mood. She was short and a bit rude with her words. At this point it was my bad for not standing up and walking out. I ordered a steak and received a cooked piece of leather. I literally could't chew a piece in my mouth. When I complained about it they knocked $15 bucks off their $42 price tag. POSITIVES: The filet mignon was fantastic. Tender on the inside, yet seared with a hearty exterior, and topped with a delicate bacon béarnaise sauce. We also ordered a Dirty Fries starter, which surprised me! It was unexpectedly amazing. Like a posh cheese fry dish. The artichoke dip starter will not let you down. I also loved the raisin bread that they serve with the meal. NEGATIVES: it is a bit pricy. The hamburger alone is $19. Filet mignon is $46. Most appetizers are the price of a decent meal anywhere else you would go. But is it worth it? Most definitely. PRICE: anywhere from $30-70 per person.
