We returned to The Fox mainly to try the Chicken Piccata Thursday special as this is one of my husband's and mine favorite dishes. Started with a really decent old fashioned-my favorite cocktail. The chicken piccata and the pasta and bread accompanying it were very good but there were no capers which is part of what makes the dish so good. However, the chicken was cooked perfectly and the lemony sauce was great so we definitely enjoyed the meal. I have some leftovers and will be adding some capers. sigh... Tried again but won't come back. Different server but same problems: had to flag him down to get my beer after waiting more than ten minutes ( we were sitting in front of the bar!!), never asked if we wanted anything else, like maybe another beer, way more talking/eavesdropping than listening, took my empty water glass without even asking if I wanted more water. Did I mention that HE SAT DOWN AT OUR TABLE?? Also stopped as he passed to ask if we were talking about politics. Thank God we were not. I have no idea what might have happened next. Had a great time here with friends. We ordered Turkey sandwich, pastrami sandwich, and nacho fries. Everything was delicious! The pastrami sandwich was by far my favorite thing. The fries were crispy and hot. The service was excellent. A couple people checked on us several times with smiles and small talk. It was a great experience in a great place. First, I was seated upstairs, which I asked for which was lovely and I was in the sun, which I realized probably wouldn't work for me long-term, but I was gonna wait till she came back with a water for me. Never happened. So I went downstairs and talked to a nice lady who seemed like she had everything together. I said can I just go ahead and order my lunch right now instead of waiting and she said sure so I ordered a burger and I said I can't have any onions cause that'll make me not feel well, and she asked if I wanted ranch and I said no I'll take ketchup the original fry sauce. Well, after quite a bit of time which I don't mind because the food is really high quality, I got my burger with not only the onions that comes with a normal burger. Also, the western bacon cheeseburger comes with some sort of fried onions too. So it was awful full of onions and I had ranch, and then so one of the servers came and I said hey, would you mind bringing me some ketchup and some Dijon mustard, and then she got involved in some conversation with another waiter about I don't know what, and they all wandered off and I said hey, can I have my Dijon mustard to go with this hot burger, and then they just disappeared. I saw the original lady and she got me the Dijon mustard and some ketchup. Then at the end, I looked at the ticket and I told her I said I'm surprised that it also says Ranch and she told me well. I write it down as you say it so but we got it all worked out. Basically call me a liar. I never have onions. I always ask no onions and I always ask for ketchup every time. Everywhere I go. I don't accidentally forget not to have onions because they'll make me sick. By the way, I never do reviews. And I wouldn't have done one here until she came back and said basically that I must not have ordered onions or ketchup because she's so good at her job and she puts it in as I tell her apparently she wasn't listening, which was even worse. read more

Went here for my birthday dinner with some friends and family. Was a bit odd at first, the host sat us but didn't say anything so we sat there for a few minutes and saw a QR code on the table so we all assumed we had to order that way. As half of our group ordered someone came by and started taking our drink orders. We were informed the QR was for paying or for groups more in a hurry. Overall the experience was nice the person who ended up taking our orders was so sweet and kind. We had one person in our group who was in a wheelchair and at the end of our meal our waitress offered her to use the ramp they have.. which wasn't offered when we arrived and had to go up a few steps. The start of the experience wasn't too great but it ended up being nice. Food was really good no complaints there's, atmosphere of the place was nice, it looks like the night we went was either open mic or a band was playing. The Fox Brewery is a cool spot with a great rooftop! Food was good and came out fairly quickly. We ordered the meat pizza, the fox burger and sweet potato fries. The burger was juicy, though a bit messy. The pizza was yummy and a good size. The beers were also good with many options. The only thing I'm docking stars on is service. It was a slow, we weren't given utensils or napkins and had to hunt them down from a server even after we asked the person who brought the food for some. After we had ordered the servers kind of disappeared. Not sure if it was a one off or because we were on rooftop. Overall, I'd be back hut hopefully can get a but better experience. read more

Updated 5/10/24 This lovely pub is still one of my favorite places to eat and grab drinks. Awesome selection of food, yet to have a bad meal here. My favorite alcoholic choice is the honey ale. And I am not a beer person, so that's saying something. My latest choice (along with other members of my party) was the Diablo chicken burger. If you are looking for a kick and some SPICE, this is the chicken burger to clear the senses. (Milk not included). The staff is still amazing and very lively and lovely. They made sure we were set at every turn, made plenty of jokes, and overall were a welcoming crew! We went there a few a Sunday's ago at lunchtime for the first time. It was somewhere I had wanted to try. There were 4 of us. We were seated quickly and our waitress took our drink order. We weren't ready to order food yet so she did come back in a timely fashion to see if we were ready, which we were. Up until this point, things were going okay. It was starting to get busier, tables around us were filling up. They had a group sit behind us - very close- so not much room at all between the chairs at each table. We ended up getting up and moving our table forward a bit to allow both tables more room. Appetizers were brought out and we were asked if we'd like another round of drinks. Three of our party's lunch came to the table...drinks finally came, but not all at the same time. The waitress did not check on us for quite a while. Still no food for #4 of our party. The rest of the group had probably gotten through half of their lunch when she finally checked on us. We told her we were still missing a lunch. Hmmm she came back pretty quickly with it and the food was not hot. The plate had obviously been sitting for quite awhile under a heat lamp. It was not good at that point. She did apologize and offered to bring us one free dessert for our inconvenience. She checked on us again but at this point I think we were all just ready to leave. We had our food boxed up. She asked what dessert we wanted. None of us wanted dessert so we asked her, if she could just remove the order that was delayed. She did do this. Maybe they were short staffed? It was football Sunday...but they should be staffed when sports is on. No excuse to bring out 3 of the 4 plates, and not check on us sooner. Probably won't go back. read more

We ordered a beer, 2 appetizers, a pizza, and a dessert for only $58. Considering how delicious everything tasted, and how decent the portions were, I was shocked. Really bad. Waited for almost ten min to be seated. Sat in bar area because I figured the service would be good. My table was by the window and it was very cold. I ordered a chicken Cobb salad and it took 1 hour. The manager came to apologize after I waited 50 min. I was going to just leave and pay for my Diet Pepsi (and I'm a Coke person so I wasn't thrilled by that either). But then my food came. My chicken wasn't grilled, it was cooked on a flat top. Super salty. My salad drenched in dressing. It was such a basic salad that it should've taken 15 min at most, not 1 hour. My waitress was the bartender and she appeared to be the only waitress in the entire restaurant during a lunch hour. Which is crazy. She was nice but not good. I should've just left. The manager then came to talk to me while I was eating. No one wants to talk while they chew on a salad they waited 1 hour for. Really my lunch should've been comped. They offered nothing. A great neighborhood brewery & pub. It still has the rooftop space that we once loved as Silver Peak. I've been here a handful of times since they have opened and all experiences have been different. I'm still hoping to gain some consistency especially with their service. The food: The pizzas are fantastic! I really like their gluten free crust. All of their pizzas are on thin crust and are 12". They have some unique flavors. I've tried their BBQ Brisket Pizza, it was full of flavor. The brisket was tasty and had a Cajun taste to it. The coleslaw gives it an added crunch. Their Irish Nachos are good and served on seasoned waffle fries. A tasty go to appetizer. Fox's chips all day! They're house-made and super delicious, they have an Old Bay seasoning taste to them. Dip them in ranch or blue cheese. Fire! Overall, they have a great extensive menu and be sure to check out their daily specials. They always seem to be cookin up something new. The service: The Bartenders have been a hit or miss. The host seems frantic during busy times. I came during St. Patrick's Day and she refused to sit anyone because the kitchen was backed up, even though the place wasn't busy and we just wanted drinks to start. We finally got sat on the rooftop and our server was attentive. Sadly all of the St. Patty's specials were all sold out on St Patty's Day. I visited the Fox for the first time when our company had our holiday party here. The building is very unique, feels very old and lots of charm and character. Our party had the upstairs reserved which had an inside and outside space which was nice. It was cold out so we were mostly inside, but there was a bar outside. I don't believe there was an elevator upstairs so it might pose a challenge for accessibility, however they had a big space downstairs at well that was accessible. The had a good drink menu and everyone really seemed to enjoy their drinks. They had cocktails, beer, wine and also non alcoholic options like Ginger Beer and a zero alcohol beer, which was nice. Our party started with appetizers which I found to be very tasty. Chips and dips, veggie tray, spinach and artichoke dip, chicken wings and mozzarella sticks. I probably ate a full bowl of the spinach and artichoke dip myself lol. We had a set menu for entrees so we had our choice of soup or salad and I went with the tomato soup. Unfortunately it was over salted and basically inedible. Perhaps the saltiest soup I've ever had lol. The vegetarian option we had was penne alfredo and a side of steamed veggies. I wasn't a big fan of the alfredo sauce, so the entree fell a little short overall. On the normal menu there were a lot of other options so I would probably try something else if I come back. One of the biggest highlights was probably the staff. They were so friendly and in great spirits, despite the stress of having a large party to deal with. They were constantly checking in with us, making sure we had everything we needed and even popping in the conversations from time to time. It was great service! Overall a fun place to try out. Next time I'll try a different entree and see if it goes a little better, but I still had a great time overall. read more

Really love this location (previously Silver Peak and then the Huntsman) and think that the building is really cool for a restaurant. So I've been hoping that something good would in be the building again. Did really love the Irish nachos, which tasted amazing and my wife really enjoyed the buzzed IPA (sorry, might be misremembering the actual name). And I didn't think that the price off the mark either considering how expensive some of the places in Midtown are getting. Looks like a cute place, but it's sooo bland disappointing, the so called artichoke dip is more like a spinach dip and so watery like where's the artichoke at? The foxy's fried chicken the chicken was way overcooked the vegetables tasted like grease. The gravy was definitely a package gravy that you just add water zero flavor. Our meals came out at separate times. If I wasn't so hungry from a long day of work I wouldn't have eaten anything. Bad food nice service at least. I won't be coming here again. Went there with another couple. I had the fish and chips.. Mainly because I've had them before, and they were very good. on this visit I ordered them again to share with my wife. The batter on the fish was extremely thick and difficult to eat, as it was clearly overcooked. There was so much extra batter, it was more than the size of the piece of fish..my wife's half of the order was the same.. I told the weight staff about the fish, and all they did was say that they were sorry... Didn't offer anything to remedy the situation...service was okay... Management needs to train their staff for situations like this.. Needless to say, I won't be going back any time soon... If you do go, don't order the fish and chips! read more

Great day for lunch with a friend as it's the first day of my fall break! We wanted a sandwich and decided to go here. They are at the old Silver peak location close to Midtown but they have plenty of their own parking which is a definite plus! On a Monday at noon we were surprised to be the only customers at that time. We were taken to a nice booth in the back area. They have rooftop seating but it was just a little chilly for us. We decided to split a French dip with fries and each had a glass of Chardonnay. The plate came with two ranch and catsup cups but only one dip consume so we asked for another one since we were dipping our sandwiches in it. We had plenty to share and not be stuffed! It was delicious and I'd definitely get the sandwich again! We had wonderful service by the general manager himself who also works at the Carson city location. As yelpers we received 10% off upon check in, what a deal! We were sure to leave a good tip to show our appreciation. Loved the older building including creaky wood floors! Great ambience! read more

It's a Pub so we expect casual & it was. Service was good and casual too but he was a bit rushed since he was also working the roof top. Aside from a screaming baby nearby, it was pleasant. Food was good, but not outstanding. I chose mussels and server gave them high marks, but they were pretty salty to my liking and 3 couldn't be opened. We happened to be in the neighborhood when looking for a place to grab a bite and noticed that The Fox Brewery & Pub had opened in what used to be Silver Peak. We were happy to see something had opened here and gave it a try! From the time we walked in, we felt welcome. The server that greeted us was super attentive and very friendly. She made all the difference and is the reason for the 4 star review. After being seated, we were informed about the several beers and food items not available - and it was a long list (including some items that are advertised on their "Foxtoberfest" menu). It was a bit disappointing but they had a hazy IPA available so we each had one of those. We sat in the room adjacent to the main bar area. There were a couple TV's on showing games so that worked well for my husband. My husband ended up ordering their "Foxy NFL" special which includes 1/2 pound of wings, french fries, and a craft beer for $16.95. I was having trouble finding something available that I could eat on the menu (I don't eat meat and didn't want anything fried) so I was pleased to find out their soup of the day was tomato. They offer sourdough bread bowls so I ordered that. Guess what? They were out of the bread bowls, too. The kind server ended up getting me a couple pieces of garlic bread to go with my soup. Overall, the food we had was ok. I think they are still trying to figure things out, how much food to order etc. I'm sure, like most restaurants, they can't afford to waste anything. So between understanding that and our experience with a wonderful server, we hope to get back here sometime. read more

I think our waitress wanted us to be hotter and thought she could do better. She checked in three times in the 45 minutes or so we waited there. They were very adamant that the 33 minutes we were waiting for our order was nothing to cry about. I looked around at the empty dining floor of all the people that had eaten and gone home already. If they were slammed I could understand, but we'd already missed the rush. It was after 8pm. Well, we got there at 6:45. Waited 15 minutes. Sat down (not too long to sit) and then waited a very long time for the waitress to take our order. What's 32 minutes minus 8:10pm? 7:38pm? She didn't make us wait 38 minutes to take our order did she? I think they lied about the ticket, but whatever, maybe she did. So they'd rather us believe that we waited longer to order than it was taking to cook the food? I can't emphasize enough that most people had already gone home. So after an hour plus of not eating, we left. My year and a half ye old was throwing tantrums he was so hungry. I think they were mad at us. It was $9 for a lemonade and root beer. Drinks are $4 each o guess. For simple syrup and carbonated water. Sweet. Ruined my night. I think go if you just want beer and drinks. Well, you probably will sober up between drinks because the waitress only comes once a half hour, but anyway, you might have a better time if you just drink beer. Little late with this review but todays the day! Came last Tuesday to try out the pub for the first time since it was silver peak and I was looking forward to checking out the new spot! Wasn't too busy, however we were asked to sit wherever we wanted in the bar area. Would've been nice to be asked if we wanted to sit in the dining area but it seemed as if only the bartender was available to serve. Once we sat down it take a hike before the barter see would bring our menus, I would say we probably waited about 10 minutes, but she did quickly let us know that she was busy with making the new cocktails and that she didn't have a recipe. We were understanding, as we usually are:) Once a server was available they quickly came to our table and took our order, his name was Juan Carlos, and he was awesome! Very attentive and personable as he always checked in, refilled our waters and made conversation. He was also great at answering any questions we had and made recommendations if asked. I decided to try their fried chicken, it was good! Very hearty and a comfort meal for sure! Loved the mashed potatoes and the chicken breast was packs crusted, my favorite type of breading and the check was juicy. I was also looking forage to trying their cobbler for dessert, as it was featured through Facebook so I couldn't wait! Unfortunately I was let down:( the cobbler was barely warm and the crust was surrounding it seems overcooked. We had the blueberry cobblers that the server recommended and it almost had a savory taste to it, which was odd. Party of two, first time dining here and we will be back when we are in town. 1st off, Lee the general manager welcomed us right when we entered with a warm, cheerful and inviting manner. He sat us and served us as well. He had recommendations and made me a spectacular whiskey drink, he told me the name 3 times but I was tipsy so I forgot. The food was all good. I am a huge steak eater and prefer prime rib, t bones or Filet mignon but they off this here and I am glad they do. This top sirloin was tasty and cooked to perfection and the sides as well. My hubby had fish and chips but I didn't get a pic but he liked it. Lee also took us around to see the upstairs area as he had time. This location is new but you should definitely give it a try. After a bit of a bumpy start, I'm so happy to be able to give these guys a 5-star review. I loved the old Silver Peak in this location and was sad to see them go. The Huntsman just didn't fill that void, and ultimately didn't last long. The Fox is awesome and so beautiful! I've visited 3 times now and the food has not disappointed. In fact, as I write this I think I might stop in for a late lunch there today. The rooftop is a must, though the work put into the inside is really impressive. Love to see it! I initially stopped in to try the jambalaya as I absolutely love Cajun food. Although not a traditional jambalaya, it was so flavorful and satisfying. The 2nd time I came with a friend and we ordered the calamari - the quality was incredible. I also had a cup of chili that was just OK, but hey, it's chili. On my 3rd visit, I tried the guacamole bacon burger, which was also super tasty. As far as the beers, I've tried their light lager and the Mexican lager. Both good! I do miss their specialty drinks that were on the menu when they first opened. There was one called the Radler, which had their "Sure-is Lite American Lager" mixed with a rosemary lemonade.
