We stumbled upon The Friendly Toast while walking around the shopping plaza. We needed to find a place that had vegan options so our friends could eat lunch with us being that they are vegan. They have their menu outside on a big stand so you can easily glance at what they have to offer and decide if it's a place for you. We decided to give them a try given that they had a decent amount of vegan options and we also thought they looked good. They have so many different options, everyone can easily find something! The restaurant decor is funky as this is the theme of the restaurant. I loved it! Our waitress was really friendly and personable. We had really great service! I decided to try the snap crackle cluck sandwich. This was a chicken breast coated in Rice Krispies, hot honey sauce, Everything bagel aioli, and it came with a pickled onion slaw, and pickles but I asked for those to be off. This sandwich was amazing! It was so crunchy and tender. It also came with waffle fries which had some type of yellow dust on them, they were good. My boyfriend got the Brunch-Burg right ahead burger. This was a beef patty, cheddar cheese, Everything bagel aioli, smashed cheesy tots, an egg, lettuce, onion, and crumbled bacon. He absolutely loved this sandwich. I tried a bite and it was so good! This sandwich also came with waffle fries. Our friends got the vegan breakfast buritto, and a vegan burger. I had the "Some like it Tots" Appetizer large stuffed tater tots filled with Vermont cheddar cheese bacon and caramelized onion with a Siracusa cheese sauce for dipping. Yum yummy. Then I had the Snap crackle Cluck chicken sandwich House rice crispy coated chicken breast, hot honey sauce, Everything Bagel aioli, pickled onion slaw & sliced pickles on a sesame seed bun. Served with waffle fries & a half sour pickle This thing hit on all fronts, sweet, savory, acidic little spicy and mildly bitter with the slaw . This is my second time visiting Friendly Toast, the first one was in at the Back Bay location. In my first review I mentioned how I didn't understand the hype and long waits. BREAKING NEWS: I still don't understand the hype. To reiterate, Friendly Toast is a fine restaurant but I haven't been blown away by it. This location is relatively new and I walk by often it looks empty, the weekends are picking up though and there is a bit of a wait, but not nearly as long as the Back Bay location (which is up to an hour long) I sat at the bar so I didn't have to wait at all. All the staff are friendly and the decor is colorful and has a retro feel to it. I ordered the Monster Breakfast and selected two French toast, scrambled eggs with American cheese, crispy bacon, and home fries. The French toast was a 10/10 and deserves ALL THE HYPE!!! It was soft and the butter gave it the perfect flavor. The eggs were a 7/10. To be fair I don't think I've ever had great eggs at any restaurant. 7/10 on a scale is really 10/10. The bacon was a 5/10. I asked for extra crispy and the texture felt weird and rubbery to me. Wherever they are getting the bacon is just my style. I like mines crispy and crunchy and I don't think it was possible with theirs. The home fries were too small for my liking and overcooked. 4/10 It came to $21 after tax which is reasonable for 2023 I don't think I'd every write the friendly toast off, but definitely not the best breakfast I've had. read more

This is one of my favorite places in all the land. We've been to many locations many times but this was our first time in Dedham. We've never had anything but an exceptional experience every time. The wait staff are amazing and friendly and the food is always superb. They are home to my favorite breakfast burrito. For starters the ambience is unlike the other locations. Strip mall interior with very few decorations. Not all like Cambridge - which is what we expected. Second the portions are ridiculously small. For the money give a few more hash browns, toast (only 2 little triangles) and make the omelette bigger. Crazy that a couple of us left hungry after a $70+ meal. I came here with my friend for breakfast as I noticed this was a fairly new location at legacy place. Inside, the restaurant was pretty busy but the service was fair. The table design was too busy for me and an eyesore to look at. I ordered 'tropic like it's hot,' an egg white omelet with spinach, a side of bacon, and a waffle. There isn't much to say but the food was subpar at best and it's really hard to mess up breakfast. I did not care for the texture or flavor or the waffle nor the whipped cream it was topped with. I had to ask for syrup and they were even skimpy with that. My bacon was burnt which I didn't appreciate and overall it was giving cafeteria/continental breakfast. The service was very friendly and attentive. But the food left a lot to be desired. Our breakfast egg rolls were decent, slightly cold in the middle, but still tasted good. The real disaster was my entrée. I ordered the Irish Benny and I thought it would be amazing. But the eggs were so overcooked that the yolk was solid on the inside. Not only that, but the corned beef didn't taste fresh, almost like it was out of a can. Very disappointed because we've had great experiences at other locations. This was our first time at this location. When we arrived it was fairly busy but we were seated right away. We ordered the mimosa flight and coffee drink flight. I only really liked 2 drinks from each and probably wouldn't order again but I'm glad we had the experience - cute presentation also. My partner got the Belgian waffle which was delicious. I had a breakfast sandwich and home fries, also very good. The waffle especially would be a reason to return. Waitress was kind and fairly attentive. New newly opened in the legacy mall. It was the same chain as you find on back Bay and the food seems to be decent. I came in to have "you bowl me over"... Basically fried rice with Asian pulled pork. It was good. Nothing out of the ordinary for me who can make really good fried rice. I have the peach tea turmeric and it was so good. I did see the other tables that had really good brunch food and the chicken and waffles at the other table looked really nice I might give that a go. Happy I checked it out. Came here this morning with my husband. We walked in and were told there be a 15-20 min wait. Said that be fine and we were fine sitting at bar if something opened sooner. Waited for 5 mins! Sat down our waitress was very nice. Got us our drinks let us look over the menu. The music was a little on the louder side (I'm 31 and saying this just FYI) But our food came out we got just basic breakfast didn't want to try something too crazy. Was around $45 so not really cheap. We would come back but don't think it will be a favorite of ours and this is just by my choice. Nothing they did wrong just wasn't somewhere I loved. I haven't been to The friendly toast since I was in high school and finding out that they opened one in Dedham was so exciting for me. I quickly brought my family to share the throwback diner experience with me. We ordered as seen in the pictures... it was very delicious. The staff was very nice and friendly . We also ordered mimosa flight at like 9:30am . It was so good actually! I thought it would be busier in the morning like a normal breakfast place but it was pretty quiet around 9am towards the end when we were leaving it started to pick up. I guess since its not "city" like here it would make sense why it's not as busy in the early morning. The aesthetics of the restaurant really makes me feel like I'm back in the 80's (im not even born then), but its a good throwback feel hahah. Overall, 9/10 read more

For example, I had caramel macchiato pancakes made with coffee-infused batter and chocolate chips and topped with caramel drizzle and coffee whipped cream. The service lived up to its name, "friendly." They also have an excellent selection of brunch cocktails like Irish Coffee.
