The Funky Brunch Cafe has a cool concept that allows some tables to make their own pancakes at the table. On my visit here on Saturday I was seated outside so I didn't get that experience. I ordered the black & blue sea grits. The presentation was really good and I really liked the fact that it had more than just shrimp grits, but I must say these were not the best grits I ever had. They were just okay. I shared a carafe of the mimosa with my bf & the mimosas were just okay. I like the fact they use fresh squeezed orange juice but I wasn't feeling all the seeds in my glass. read more

Do NOT eat here. We were set for a truly awesome experience but my family were truly disappointed in the sub par food, service and managerial responsiveness toward our needs and preferences. Absolute most disgusting place I've eaten in. The food was under cooked, the griddle didn't get hot and the manager instead she eats and serves nearly raw bacon to customers and her family. Huh Take our advice and skip it. It's 2022 not 2016 don't risk it. My stomach hurts. read more

Delicious, super fun, will absolutely be back!! Great atmosphere and great people. Must visit when in Savannah! They have a patio for four-legged friends and their people. Each table has a flat top griddle so kids or kids-at-heart can make their own pancakes! read more

Delicious food, decent service. Griddle tables are super fun, make sure to let all the bubbles come up on the pancakes before flipping or you'll be left with pancake pieces and a messy griddle, but after one or two flops we were able to make delicious tasting pancakes! Also from being out of town I usually stay away from ordering water but this was filtered and great! read more

Savannah, Georgia never disappoints! With great food on every corner, I was so happy to find this piece of treasure! My husband ordered the Creole Grits. They were in a delicious, spicy creole sauce with peppers and andouille sausage that will awaken your senses! He brought it all together with scrambled egg whites. I decided on the Andouille Scramble which was a hash filed with sausage, peppers and onions and I also added egg whites with multigrain toast. I can still taste the goodness! My cousin ordered the One if by land, Two if by Sea! What is this? It's their version of the surf and turf with shrimp, steak, lobster and spinach in a garlic and lemon sauce - all over creamy grits! WOWSA! She enjoyed every bite and was smiling for the rest of the day! She did share that it would have been better to top it off with an egg or two. The coffee was hot and fresh! If you are of age, please try the peach mimosas! It's best to get a pitcher and because you can walk around the streets of Savannah with a drink, you can get the rest in a to-go cup! The restaurant has a very colorful and fun decor and the staff was very friendly and wore their masks. There were others waiting to get a table when we arrived, but the wait was only for about 5-10 minutes. Go and enjoy the goodness! read more

I picked this breakfast spot on our weekend trip in town because it was close to where we were staying but we ended up returning again in our time here because it was so good! That OJ is FRESH-best we've ever had! Everything tasted fresh and just delicious! Both servers we experienced were also very friendly and one even took time to sit down with our tourist map and point out places to go. If we had our kids with us they would have LOVED eating inside at the griddle tables! Such an original place! read more

We were seated promptly. Our waitress was great. The pancake batter was very sweet. Too sweet for my liking, but it's kid friendly I suppose. A lot of families with young children seated. So, if you're looking for a quiet breakfast, this is not it. It was fun making our own pancakes. The eggs and turkey sausage were good also. The meal for the three of us was expensive for a breakfast, but it is a touristy kind of place on Broughton Street. read more

Our group tried to eat hear but their service and policy was so so bad we had to leave because they would not seat us because two of the six people weren't present. They wouldn't let us get drinks while waiting and I can see not seating us if they were busy but there were on two tables being occupied on the patio. It would have made since to sit us and allow us to drink while we waited on the rest of our party. Not no mention that they weren't friendly so we when up the street and got GREAT food and EXCEPTIONAL service....So Sad they don't think of there service or customers.... Sometimes policy need to be common sense and I would have understand if they were busy!!!! read more

This spot was just what we needed for a Sunday brunch! There was a bit of a wait but that's to be expected on a Sunday late morning especially for a party of 8. We waited for about thirty minutes then were seated at a large table outside. Everything we ordered was delicious and (almost) everyone finished everything in their plate. Their signature hangover breakfast (hash browns with bacon, and egg, covered in gravy and served with a biscuit) was delicious and easy to see why it's a signature dish. The bacon was crispy and tasty and the hash browns were yummy. The quiche was absolutely delicious (so much so that I had to order one to go!). Everything tasted home-cooked, exactly what you expect from a breakfast diner and then some. Wishing there was one in Orlando to make this a regular spot! read more

Our first time in Savannah GA. We we're looking for a cool breakfast/brunch spot found this place on yelp. Came here with our friends. Be prepared to wait 30 minutes plus on a Sunday depending what time you get there. It's quite busy but the staff were very efficient in getting our food fast. Service was on point and very attentive. We had ordered the French toast which my friend devoured he said it was delicious. The other two dishes we had were the Upstream miracle which had smoked salmon cream cheese and capers omelette which was also a good dish. We shared the farmers market omelette. It was good. Stopped in for lunch because of the name and the selection on the menu looked fun. I had the grits with sausage and chicken creole gravy. Nice flavor, thought it could have used a little more kick, but really nice. Servers was fun and attentive and made suggestions on what she liked. Would also recommend the Putin Rueben. read more

What a great find! So many great things to say about this place. let's start with #1. We had the best waitress , Caroline was amazing with her knowledge of GF and what I could have and gave tips for next visit on other GF options. # 2. My GF pancakes were excellent and they even had turkey sausage which is another plus for me, my husband also enjoyed his meal just as much, can't remember the name of the dish, but his pancake was yummy and his egg was cooked perfectly, and the very best part is #3. You can bring your pups and they even give them a treat and water! Will definitely go back if ever in the area. read more

Our original plans for Saturday brunch date fell through and my husband proposed Funky Brunch. Awesome and we will be returning. The carafe of mimosas was simply wonderful- made with fresh squeezed orange juice and plenty of bubbly. My husband had the Southwestern Scramble which smelled wonderful and he said was very good and will order again. I had the Frenchy French toast which was good but I will try other tasty options in the future. The atmosphere was eclectic and relaxed - and I will bring my teenage children the next time. Great place to have brunch on a Sunday. It can get quite busy so plan on getting on the list and getting a buzzer. The buzzer has approximately a two block radius so you can walk around the the area while you wait for the table. The food and service is worth the wait! The omelets are amazing. They have pancake stations where you can make your own custom pancakes. Overall, great place to have brunch and drink mimosas. I recommend getting here between 11:30am and 12pm. They have a small bar where you can order a drink while you wait for a table. Enjoy!!!! read more

Fun place, good/quick service, good price point. We wanted to go here last summer when we were in town, but they were slammed. Luckily we got there at the right time on Black Friday. Whenever I am in Savannah around breakfast time, I always go here. The restaurant decor is super fun and colorful, and the employees always make our visit worthwhile. Worth the Wait!!! On vacation in Savannah and needed a great brunch spot to start off the day. Heard about Funky Brunch. We were almost deterred due to the 45 minute wait for a table. But we stuck and it out and WOW - it was worth it. Starting with the Funky Bread is a must. A mix between a coffee cake and a biscuit. Delicious. The pancakes a light and fluffy and the sausage gravy is great on everything. Awesome service and hospitality. And it's Dog Friendly! A group of six of us went for a late brunch for a friend's birthday while we were in town visiting. Two friends got the pancakes that they made on the griddle (we were celebrating a 30th birthday), they enjoyed it! I had the shrimp sandwich at the suggestion of GiGi the server. It was as good as she said it would be. Chris, the bartender, made us delicious mimosa. They use really good quality juices, too. If you have kids I'd say this would be great for them, my food was good, the service was even better but I didn't need the griddle experience. read more

When we chose it we didn't realize that there are a few other Treylor Parks - all with their own concepts. The service was a little lukewarm at first, but got progressively better. We went on Father's Day and expected it to be a little busier, but maybe we missed the rush. My husband started off with a Bloody Mary - all the way. It came with a pickle juice shooter that at first sounded a little weird, but was actually tasty. We started with fried green tomatoes. They were definitely different than any I had ever had. First it was tempura. YAY! Most are cornmeal and the texture is weird. These were so good. It came with a pimento cheese topper. It was my first time having pimento cheese and I loved it! I had the grilled apple pie chicken sandwich. I was a little worried it would be super sweet but it was not. It was perfectly balanced. My husband had the Treylor Park Pot Pie. It was a chicken pot pie burrito/chimichanga. My husband loved the collard greens and loved his meal. All in all we enjoyed our meal and will go back next time we are in Savannah.

Parking garage behind the building or you can use street parking for $2.50 an hour. Food comes out fast drinks come out even faster lol We drove four hours and Treylor Park was worth every BITE! Topped with a strawberry salsa that worked well. 3 of these were very filling. Fun and very good. Son had the double wide footlong. Topped with sloppy Joe. After that the 2 sides were different. One had fried banana peppers. The other side more classic with toppings. Son said it was really good. Others had the ahi tuna salad. Tuna was perfectly rare. Salad was good and the wasabi dressing had great flavor without being too spicy. Service was quick even though jam packed. Also very friendly.

Pro tip: Head there early on a Sunday morning! Alcohol can't be served until after 11 a.m., so the place is surprisingly quiet and easy to get into--no crowds or long waits. We were seated right away, and our server was incredibly friendly and attentive from start to finish. My husband went for The Chupacabra--a massive chimichanga-style breakfast burrito stuffed with eggs, sausage, onions, cheddar cheese, fresh pico de gallo, Sriracha, and chipotle crème fraîche, served with cheesy grits on the side. I ordered the Brunch Nachos, which sounded fun as an "appetizer"... big mistake (or the best kind of mistake!). It was a towering plate of waffle fries loaded with cheddar cheese, bacon, sausage gravy, fried chicken, and topped with sunny-side-up eggs. While the food itself was good, it would be nice if the menus were more consistent across locations. Having to research which location serves which items takes away from the convenience of a unified brand. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would definitely return for a quick lunch. Pricing is reasonable at about $25 per person, obviously it can get much pricier depending on whether you're just stopping in or you're making a longer experience of your visit. It's unlike most restaurant, you'll be seated family-style with other guests, making it easy to meet new people. We actually had the pleasure of chatting with two wonderful people while waiting in line, which made the experience even more memorable. The staff was genuinely warm and welcoming, and we even had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Wilkes' granddaughter, who now owns the restaurant. She was just as kind and friendly as everyone else, and you can tell the family tradition is still alive. Come hungry because the food just keeps coming. They had just about every Southern comfort food you could think of--pulled pork, fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, macaroni and cheese, vegetables, biscuits, and countless other homemade sides. Everything tasted fresh, comforting, and exactly what you'd hope for from a classic Southern meal. A couple of things to know before you go: it's cash only and currently $35 per person, which I thought was well worth it considering the quality, quantity, and overall experience. Also, expect a line--it starts forming before they open, and they're only open from 11 AM to 2 PM, so arriving early is definitely worth it. Clearly the five star reviews were left by friends or employees. I didn't want to even give one star but had to. Let me begin by saying that I in no way consider myself a food or restaurant snob. Most of my favorite places are little hole in the wall joints, and I can almost always find at least one redeeming quality that would make me go back to a restaurant. I was really excited to try the funky brunch cafe, and thought it looked like my kind of place. I can honestly say that even though I tried really hard to, I could not find a single redeeming quality that would make me go back to this place. The hostess was nice enough, but definitely didn't go out of her way to be friendly or to make us feel welcomed. She also seemed incredibly overwhelmed for a reason that I couldn't understand as we were the only people waiting for a table. The griddle table thing is a cute idea, but there are not nearly enough of them to go around. This was our first time here so we didn't even know to request one, nor did anyone mention that if we wanted to make our own pancakes that we could wait for one of those tables. When our server finally came to our table, she made little to no eye contact and spoke as little as possible. No smile, no introduction, nothing. She took our drink order, brought us a couple of waters we'd asked for, and brought our coffee 15 minutes later when she finally returned to take our order. Our food didn't take too long as some people have mentioned, but it was so sub par that had I been the server I would have been more than a little embarrassed to serve it. We both ordered eggs benedict. I ordered my eggs poached soft and his medium. Both of them came out so over cooked that the yolk was solid. His had little to no hollandaise, and mine was literally swimming in it. Both of the english muffins that they were on were hard as a brick. There was no seasoning, no garnish- just two plates of overcooked and poorly plated food. We didn't see the server again until she brought the check about 30 minutes later, after I finally asked a busser for it. We went through the entire check process without a single word from our server and left without a word from her. The only person during this entire experience that represented hospitality and great service was the bus boy, who got the server to get our check and smiled and wished us a great day on our way out the door. We realized as we were leaving that he had been the only employee we'd seen smile the entire time- with the exception of when they were goofing off in the wait station and expo area. Maybe the rest of the staff can take a cue from the bus boy! There are way too many bad ass breakfast/brunch joints in Savannah to believe that this place will survive long if this is their standard of food and service. Probably the worst service I've ever had. After waiting almost an hour to be seated (which I didn't mind) it took us about 2 hours to have our meal. The dining area is like a gymnasium so it's very loud when full so we had to yell our order at our waitress or else she would roll her eyes and cup her hand behind her ear. We received our coffees and by the time our food came the coffee had long since been empty and we were never given a refill. We had ordered an appetizer but it never came and when we asked about it we were assured it was coming... It never came. We were missing several parts of our order and our eggs were basically raw. The service was so slooooow that we were afraid to ask for new eggs. Some of the food was yummy but most of it was completely mediocre. After waiting another 20 minutes to pay our tab we were given the wrong change. Mostly we were just happy to get up and stretch our legs after sitting for 2 hours. So... Where do I begin... should I start with the entire meal for 3 people that we had to send back because it was cold..... or should I continue on to the grits that were slightly sour(?!) Oh then there were the pancakes which were also cold. None of this is warm Southern hospitality. I mean it's literally cold No butter no honey and we had to ask for juice which again was not juice we could not find our waitress All in all it made for a badd dining experience but a hilarious story to share with each other. So.... if you want to go out with friends and have a prank restaurant visit that you can laugh about for years to come- go to Funky Brunch But if you are looking for a wonderful morning to enjoy a great breakfast this is not the place. read more

This my FAVORITE breakfast spot in Savannah. From the mimosa's all the way down to funky decorations. Now I've let been here twice and the service is immaculate! Yesterday I had Caroline (forgive me if I spell it incorrectly) and she was an amazing waitress and just all around super warming and friendly. For breakfast this time and last time I had Kevin's Kombo! Delicious! Food came out promptly and hot. Will return next time I'm in Savannah. Wow just wow.... Everything was so great. I know that when you just open there are some flaws and that is probably what happened to the people that gave the bad reviews. But the food was great. I got the Philosopher (salad) and the table pancakes. Also our server Star was great. She was attentive which i like in a server. I would defiantly come here. The interior draws on the building's former life as a power plant, using the raw brick and gaping, melted arches that once protected the furnaces. You can even see where the heat melted some of the arch openings. The breakfast sandwich is good. Very filling to the point where I had to save half for the next day. I also ordered their Dubai chocolate cake bar and a chocolate-dipped brownie during another session. Both were very good, as I savored them for two days in a row during my staff retreat.

Anyway, our server, Elizabeth, was so kind and took great are of us. Food came out quickly but we did not feel rushed. I was not offered any coffee or water refills though. Our check was quickly presented so I did not want to ask for more coffee. I ordered the SHAKSHUKA which was served in the a croissant bowl. Extra stars for creativity here! Great flavor and perfectly melted cheese. The tots ended up looking like a sheet of hash browns and they to were very tasty, well seasoned and the right mix of crispy and soft. We crushed the burgers and tots and the sweet tea washed it down in the classic Southern style. I recommend The Window!! Open for Breakfast and Lunch.

It is just fine for what it is, nothing more and nothing less. Now on to the details... When I opened the front door, I was immediately greeted by the hostess/server, Cheryl, who told me to sit anywhere I'd like. I made myself comfortable in a booth and began perusing the menu, which was already on the table. Cheryl came over right away, said good morning, and asked if I'd like anything to drink as I read the menu. I asked for coffee ($2.94) and water, which was brought over straight away. I then ordered the Veggie Hash Brown Deluxe. According to the menu, all of the iterations of the Hash Brown Deluxe came with "hashbrowns smothered in onions, mushrooms, broccoli, and a choice of grilled chicken ($9.94), beef ($9.94), grilled shrimp ($12.94), ham ($9.94), or Veggies ($9.94). The menu further described the veggie option as including additional zucchini and tomato. However, when my dish arrived, there was only one almost microscopic piece of tomato in the entire serving. When I pointed this out to Cheryl, she picked up my dish, examined it closely, and stated that, yes, there was tomato in there. I suppose that technically she was correct. The issue with my hashbrown entrée was my main complaint regarding my visit. Well, that and my feeling that it was overpriced for a plate of hashbrowns with a few veggies thrown in. Other than that, everything was fine. I especially appreciated the fact that Cheryl was quick to provide refills for my coffee without me having to ask. I hate having to hunt down a server to get a second or third cup of coffee. As I said at the beginning of this review, this is a typical old school diner. My experience had both good and bad aspects to it, so I think three stars is a fair rating.
