I am very new to the Prosper area and my mom and I came across this Restaurant called The Gin! Manager Ricky, was so wonderful and helpful, along with all the staff. The menu has reasonable pricing on everything and all the food looked A1! Everything is Cleaned and once customers we're done eating, their plates got removed fastly so it wouldn't crowd them. This place is the best kept secret in the area Only one IPA on draft but it is a good one. Pizza is amazing, chips and queso is solid as well. Too bad they are not open on Sunday. Would be a great place to watch the games. read more

I loved the atmosphere of the place as well as the live music. I think place would be better when it gets a little warmer, so you can sit outside. Finding a table was hard because the place is small. The food was good. We had sliders, pizza, quesadillas, and the Gin Sliced Beef. The burgers and pizza were better than the sliced beef and quesadillas, but the weird thing is the timing of the food. Some of the food is cooked in the inside kitchen, and some is cooked outside in a food truck. So some of the party received their food while half the party had to wait up to 20 more minutes for their food. We tried waiting for everyone to get their food before we started eating, but the food that was already served was getting cold. Most everyone finished their food when the last person received their pizza. It was awkward, and should be worked on. We did enjoy our experience,and will try the place again; hopefully, we can all eat together next time. read more

Went to The Gin last night (Wed. 5-11) for my birthday. Fortunately, the food was very good, as it normally is. However, the service was so terrible I was embarrassed I chose to go there. We sat on the patio (8 people) due to the nice whether and were swarmed by flies. This problem was compounded by the fact not one person ever bussed our table. Not even once. We eventually had to move our dirty dishes to the bench behind us to try and clear the flies. The dishes were never picked up from the bench either. Our server was not attentive and seemed more interested in taking a quick order and moving on. She didn't realize more than one person at our table wanted something so we had to stop her to take additional requests before she left, disappearing for long periods of time. Our food came out staggered rather than all at once which is always awkward, not to mention we were not given enough utensils so we were trying to share because, again, our server was MIA. We didn't end up ordering dessert because we were all tired of fighting flies and the bad service. I just told our server we were full so we could get our check and leave. Outside of the food, the experience was very disappointing. We won't go back there again for a group event. We will sit at the bar where service is normally pretty good. read more

The town of Prosper is a hidden gem in itself, and the Cotton Gin, or "Gin" is worth discovering. As the Wuhan virus recedes, it is good to see diners relaxing in The Gin and enjoying the bar drinks and menu items. This is good honest Southern comfort food with generous portions. They don't skimp on the meat, and the sides are substantial. The wine list is adequate and the bar service up to par. Table service was provided by cheerful, pleasant and helpful servers, although it seemed no-one could find Tabasco (I got up and got it). My party was pleased, and we'll go back. read more

Cotton Gun is a good place for a meal. I have been eating at Cotton Gin for the last 6 years. Cotton Gun has never let me down. Lunch time is always busy, so plan for a wait on a table. Service is usually pretty quick and friendly. My favorite meals are the double cheese burger and the chicken fried steak and make sure they give you lots of gravy for dipping the Texas Toast in. read more

I went to The GIn in person right before Covid happened and it was such a great atmosphere!! The workers were super friendly and took care of all their guests. If you like alcoholic beverages this is the place to go!! They have amazing mixed drinks and some good regulars too! I went here for my 21st birthday and I enjoyed it so much. First time eating here, and I'm impressed. The food came out hot and fresh, for an rustic looking place, the food doesn't feel dull or boring. One thing that bothered me is the management lacking control over some of the customers. We sat next to this rowdy crowd and they carelessly dropped the most F-Bombs, S-Nukes, and B-Blasts I've ever heard in a conversation. In fact it was so vulgar we decided to move tables. I'm extremely satisfied with the food, a little less with the awareness of other customers experience, I get it's a bar but when a kid like me walks in and hears forbidden words in a normal context, it's a bit alarming. We love this place! We've only come for breakfast but the pancakes, cinnamon roles, and sausage and biscuits/gravy are delicious. We love the old-timey feel with the pictures covering the walls showing Prosper when it was first established. The people that work here have also always been very friendly and laid back. The other night I was looking for a place that was open late where I could take my computer and do some work. If this place had good drinks and some food, that would be ideal. So I searched for restaurants on Google maps. The Cotton Gin and The Gin popped up on this road in the middle of nowhere, but Google maps said The Gin was open until midnight. I couldn't find much about it online but went anyway. That turned out to be a terrific decision. Thursday night football was playing on several large TVs, while the Thursday night college game occupied the other ones. The inside is nice with a handful of tables and a nice bar to sit at, but the space out back is great. Both covered and uncovered seating, tables, couches, a fireplace with a fire going, big TVs, bean bag toss and a stage for what I'm sure will be live music from time to time. They can bring food from The Cotton Gin next door when it's open. When it closes, they still have a chef that offers a smaller menu of appetizers and entrees, but the food was still good. I was told they are about to open a food truck out back (that will always be there) that will cook pizza, burgers, I think they said buffalo wings, and one thing delicious sounding items. I was talked into a couple of the craft whisky cocktails and found both to be delicious (will definitely order both again even though I normally drink my whiskey "neat"). Yes, I managed to get some work done, but when I walked around, it looked like the other 15-20 people there were also really enjoying their work-free evening. I'm glad to see a spot like this is Prosper so I don't have to go to old Frisco or old Mckinney all the time. I'll definitely be there again tonight. read more

I went there on Friday after seeing all of the great reviews. First the "Lunch" Menu shown on YELP seems to be an old menu (@ 2016). The menu I got showed an $11.00 cheeseburger and a $17.00 Chicken Fried Steak. I tried the cheeseburger and it was the size of a McDonalds Kid's burger and cost $11.00 but you did get crinkle cut fries with the 'kid's burger'. I'll never go back but I did give it one extra star because the waitress was very nice. read more

I went here last night with my SILs for dinner. We sat in the covered patio area between the bar and the stage. All I have to say is I LOVE THIS PLACE. The music was great. The food was delicious. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. I will be back! We started with Queso and chips, so good! Then for dinner we ordered two different pizzas (Bbq and the Don) and chicken fried steak. So good!! Shared all and had lots of leftovers. We finished with some chocolate cake and ice cream (birthdays require dessert). It was delicious. I went to get breakfast tacos to go. 27.00 for 6 tacos seems high to me and as I was waiting I looked through the cut out window and noticed the cooks putting every plate in the microwave before they served it.
