Mediocre brunch! We ate brunch there before the "$25 brunch" sign was changed overnight to "all day brunch". We asked the waitress what was included in the brunch and she pointed us to some dishes which we ordered, plus one drink. When we got the bill every dish/drink was charged separately. when I asked why put a $25 brunch sign the manager told me it referred only to drinks. Even if the waitress told me the dishes we ordered were part of brunch menu. I told him I've eaten brunch in nyc for decades and in other countries and brunch includes food+drinks. The manager didn't care about the sign. I should never have paid the bill for mediocre eggs and a lousy drink! I will never go there nor recommend this place. read more

I came here on a Friday night and it was pretty busy. The decor is beautiful and we were attended to right away. The service is friendly. There was a DJ there that night that played great music! As far as the food it was mehhh, nothing special. I did love their fries though! I drank beer so I can't say too much about their cocktails. We made a reservation for brunch on Sunday. Weirdly enough, I spoke on the phone to confirm my reservation, but after calling a second time, the first time didn't go through. Make sure you receive an email saying it's confirmed (which wasn't mentioned to me the first time). As for everything else, breakfast burrito!!!! yum. Generous portion and everyone enjoyed their food. My friends got the waffles, but I think mine was the best dish, although I may be biased. We also got the bottomless, very worth it. The server made sure we got prompt refills and offered different selections not available on the menu, like the frozen rose which was awesome. Came here for brunch on a Sunday. Had a great experience overall. Drinks and food were good, great ambience. Service was was fast too! A little disappointed about the Nutella pancakes, I was looking forward to try it but it did not live up to the hype. However the Mac and cheese balls were delicious! Also enjoyed the Steak and eggs platter, the waffles were good too but the chicken wasn't doing it for me. I would like to come back to try different items in the menu. Just went for brunch/lunch and it was really delicious! Got the BEC with Greek fries instead of home fries and was well worth it! Husband got chicken quesadillas and a cocktail (I think called 'Lazy Sunday') of coconut margarita. Everything we ordered came very quickly and was excellent. The BEC had a chipotle aioli that brought a great spice and decadence to what's normally a very simple sandwich. It was on a really nice ciabatta bread that elevated the meal as well. The Greek fries were seasoned with oregano and sprinkled with feta which was very good and light. The fries were crispy on the outside and slightly smooshy on the inside which is exactly how I like it. I didn't even feel like it needed condiments which is rare for me, I love condiments... My husband really enjoyed his quesadillas which came with sour cream, salsa, and guacamole on the side. His coconut margarita was delicious and light without being overwhelmingly coconut-y Our server was attentive and so lovely. She had water ready for us as we sat and refilled it quickly as we ran out. I will say the bathrooms looked nice but were not as clean as I'd expect. This review is going to be long winded so bare with me. 5 years ago I came to this restaurant after a drunken night but couldn't forget how fantastic the food, the drinks, the experience was. I never remembered the name but driving through Astoria last week, I saw it. Remembered the lanterns and almost had a breakdown in my car. I needed to come back to see if it was as good as I remembered. I didn't get everything on the menu like I did last time, there was no unlimited option nor were there pitchers but the food is really good. Why didn't I give this amazing restaurant 5 stars you might ask, well I'll tell you. I ordered an egg scramble with veggies and mozzarella, bae ordered eggs scrambled with cheddar cheese. We've both worked in hospitality in multiple capacities and as people who know food we know what the fuck food tastes like. Our cheeses were swapped (mozz has a stringy nature when you pull it that cheddar does not have) we told our waitress and the chef basically told us that we didn't know what we were talking about instead of just making the food over. The steak was perfect, juicy, cooked to the pickiest of standards. The reason this review received 4 stars because our waitress who was super accommodating and apologetic. She did everything she could to rectify it. But at the end of the day when someone orders something, they want what they ordered not something else. Anyway, get the Mac and cheese balls, order the frose, the aperol spritzer drink, get everything, get the steak and eggs just don't make your order too complicated. read more

Great local astoria cafe that serves good food and has great out door seating. What i enjoy about grand is the outdoor seating in the summer! Great place to grab some cocktails and get some sun, while looking at all the sexiness walking up 30 ave! Grand has stepped it up tremendously since renovating this place. The food option and just the food in general has gotten way better! Decent happy hour prices, pretty female waitress, service could be a little better, but a great place to catch up with friends! Certain days they have live dj's playing music which is cool. Decent selection of beers and alcoholic cocktails. The coffee here is solid and very good. Great service, attentive staff, very trendy and major turn around after renovations. If you're looking for a cool spot to grab drinks or food i highly recommend this place. The meat platter for 3 which consist of steak, grill chicken, and greek sausage is amazing & the froze is very freshening! Grand has stepped their game up! read more

I've been to The Grand a couple of times. It's one of the most visible restaurants in Astoria as it's on a very strategic corner and it's quite spacious. Food is OK and service is average. Last time I was there was yesterday (Sunday,) when I went for early dinner with my niece and her 7-year-old son. We tried two other restaurants on the same block, but one had a long wait and the other had no vegetarian dishes, so we settled for The Grand which had none of those issues. To start off, the music was blaring at an uncomfortable decibel level, which made communication with the waiter very difficult (I don't know why, but this is a problem in many restaurants in Astoria). But what made us really uncomfortable, was the choice of music by their DJ, who they hire on weekends. He only played rap music with its signature profane lyrics. We were bombarded with f**k, f***ing, motherf***er every 10 seconds. I was profoundly embarrassed with my niece and her child, and couldn't wait to finish our food and leave. I'm not a prudish, and I believe everyone should be free to play whatever music they like. But this is not the kind of entertainment you expect in a supposedly classy restaurant, on a Sunday, in the early evening hours. If they really think this kind of music pleases patrons, they should've warned us when they saw us coming with a child, or reserve it for late at night when customers are more likely to be all adults. I complained to the hostess, but I don't think she conveyed my displeasure to the managers. That's why I decided to write this review. read more

We went to my friend's baby shower. The food was delicious, and plentiful. The Mimosa was very refreshing and well balance of OK and champagne. The service was great and everyone was very accommodating. It is also very nicely decorated, the bathrooms are individual which is a big plus ( I left my cell phone, and the next person returned it to one of the bartenders). Thank you. Beautiful decor and wonderful, attentive service. The staff here are seriously so nice. I had the spicy rigatoni which is a large portion and I had to take it home. The Grand was a GRAND OLE time! Start to finish, the new and improved Grand was outstanding! The friendly wait staff greeted us pleasantly and it became very apparent that this place isn't messing around. Our drinks came quickly and our waitress was very friendly. Although we may have had too many adult beverages prior to dinner, our waitress was well aware and did not skip a beat in kindness. Throughout our meal we were consistently filled up with water and were greeted by one of the restaurant managers. Very kind. What we got: -Lobster Roll (it was national lobster day, why not!) with a side salad topped with feta and savory dressing. -Pan seared salmon with roasted potatoes and veggies! Overall, fantastic experience. Thankful for this revamped restaurant on 30th Ave. Many places are doing too much and The Grand does it just right. When my family comes into town we will be headed over to the grand for brunch, lunch, and dinner! Highly recommend to ANYONE down for some good American/Greek food! PS. Dinner was a burger with fries, Diet Coke and a salmon burger with salad and iced tea. So disappointed! Burger was a dry, overcooked, juiceless patty in a large tasteless bun. The fries were good , though. The salmon burger was an undercooked, bland patty (except for the tartar sauce) on the same big, tasteless bun. The side salad was nice. The iced tea was a watered down version of a tazo for $6! Ambiance was typical for a bar/restaurant and better than before the renovation. Service was adequate. The food and service are decent but the main draw for me is the spaciousness and outdoor dining option. Astoria is a dense area with lots of traffic but The Grand turns it's sprawling corner into a nice outdoor dining space where you feel removed from the bustle of the street. They also have plenty of umbrellas and coverage so you're not baking in the heat since there's barely any tree coverage in the area. If you are a smoker, they even have a smoking section. I was able to roll up my stroller to a table and plop down my toddler down without bumping into things and feeling squished. The outdoor dining set up is nicely done and not hodgepodge. The brunch was straightforward with moderate portions and Astoria pricing. Server forgot a couple things but was apologetic and followed up. Food came out relatively quickly. Overall, had a nice time enjoying the summer breeze and dining outdoors. Update: Shortly after I posted this review, my foodie partner and I both got food poisoning (we shared plates). The eggs were a bit runny so are suspecting those. This was our first meal of the day and we didn't eat again until after symptoms started, so are pretty sure this meal was the culprit. Had a great meal the other day at the grand. Great venue. Wait staff is very attentive and took great care of myself and my friends as we dined during a hot afternoon. They made sure we were comfortable and that everything came out wonderfully. One of our party got pretty hot in the sun and they went above and beyond, even going ahead and moving us to a cooler table and making sure our food and drinks were moved quickly as well. Came here after Thanksgiving for a quick lunch with a friend and we really enjoyed it. It's so beautiful inside, and the staff was very nice. The have s decent side menu with lots of American and Greek options. She had the burger and I had the chicken sandwich. We enjoyed the food, she gobbled up her burger and I enjoyed every bite of my sandwich. It had a spicy mayo, and I'm not big on spice light that, but this really took the sandwich up many notches!
