It was our first time trying Nepali food, and overall we had a great experience. We ordered the Thakali chicken tray, which was nice, especially with the peas and beans on the side. The only downside was the chicken was chewy and pink. We also ordered the chicken tikka masala, and it was delicious the chicken was cooked perfectly. We also got their garlic Naan and plain and it was fresh. Very cozy restaurant but the music was alittle loud. The lady was helping us was very nice.

My husband and I ordered butter chicken, chicken momo, garlic naan, and chicken choila. The picture says it all

Overall good quality food. Service is quick. We had the chicken biryani which was very flavorful and moist. Then had the Gurkha chicken also very nice. At 12 pm the place was busy but service was good. We would come back.

This was my family's first time at the Gurkha Kitchen. I have been wanting to try it for some time now. We ordered butter chicken and chicken biryani for the kids. My wife and shared a chicken thali. We were worried if the butter chicken would be too spicy however, it was mild, buttery, tender and above all tasty. Chicken Biryani portion was very generous and was just right. Chicken thali was an experience was lots of different taste and texture. We had a wonderful meal and will look forward exploring other menus.

Food was excellent. The momo meat is infused with fat giving making it both flavorful and not dry. Service is fast despite a full restaurant. Ambiance is lively.

What a delicious lunch! I brought my parents to Gurkha and we enjoyed everything. Service was very friendly and I learned this location is the original Gurkha Kitchen. We ordered a variety of dishes to share-Chicken Momos, Goat Curry, Thalli set chicken and garlic naan. Loved all the flavors. The momos were filled with tender ground chicken in a delicate wrap and served with a curry dipping sauce. The goat curry was very tender and savory. My parents especially loved this dish over rice. I loved the Thalli set which is served with a variety of sides. The dal (black lentils) and the sautéed veggies were so good and the restaurant offers free refills! The chicken (bone in) curry was flavorful. The garlic naan was soft and fresh. Perfect for all the sauces. Delicious and I'll definitely be back!

Dining in may have provided a better experience. We were so enamored with the San Ramon location last night, we went to try the Sunnyvale location since we were in the area. The servers were friendly and brought us complimentary chai tea while we waited for our food. The restaurant was smaller and more decorative than the San Ramon restaurant. We ordered our food to go and were slightly disappointed, partly because our bag tipped over on the way home and the tandoori chicken sauce got over every container and inside the bag. The chicken momos were shaped more like Chinese dumplings/Japanese gyozas instead of the unique little volcanos we had last night. They were still delicious. The tandoori chicken was not as juicy since we lost a lot of the sauce. We tried the lamb biryani. It was spicy and good. Definitely use the yogurt sauce they serve with it. Loved all the big chunks of lamb. We will go to the restaurant again and dine in to get the full experience.

Was not busy on the weekday for lunch so quick ordering & food came quickly. The chicken momo is super juicy! Def taste the various spices but was not too spicy and the sauce was really good. The chick thali brought back the taste of Nepal and was super good. I was secretly hoping the waiter would come around with the caddy for free refills but we're on the states so I'll keep the wishful thinking!

Their service is great. Ambience is cozy filled with Nepalese decor. We ordered a lot of things, but my favorite is their thakali thali (goat, veg, chicken) - Nepali Approved! I order it often. WaiWai sadheko is more like WaiWai chatpate, but it's yummy - order it. Their momo is not that good.

Picked this spot to have a nice romantic lunch with hubby. We biked over and were promptly seated. Ordered: Goat thali: hubby said this was really good and would order again. I tried the non goat portions and everything was tasty! Paneer tikka masala: 4/5 sauce was good and paneer was good too. Garlic naan: 5/5 yum! Friendly service. It did take a while for our food to be served but we weren't a big rush.

We saw this next to "new india bazar" when we visited on the weekend for some last minute grocery shopping. It has a big parking lot right outside. It's open till late. Then we saw it "open" on yelp late last night on "uber eats" past 9 pm also and giving out promotions like "free item over $30" and "buy 1, get 1 free" on butter chicken, channa, gurkha chicken. So we decided to give it a try. In $41, we got: - chicken momos (regular-medium spicy) - 3/5 the mixture was ok but shell was slightly more doughy for me if i compare it to Everest momo food truck. I wish they gave the chili hot sauce for dipping on the side like most momo places. Their orange sauce was lame. Reducing 1 star for sauce :( - butter chicken 4/5 - it was buy 1 get 1 free which was a good deal. It was more tangy than most places but i think it showed it had less processed puree. It did taste better today as leftovers with home made rotis. - fried rice veggie 3/5 - a full size portion of it came free when you order for more than $30. It was dry for me but maybe if you order a Manchurian dish it will pair well

Our go-to spot for takeout. Our daughter loves the chicken momos, and the chilli chicken is always on point spicy with a hint of sweetness. Tandoori is well-marinated and flavorful, not burnt. The chicken Gurkha thali is warm comforting homely meal . Casual ambiance and consistently satisfying food.

Social media strikes again…read more.. I came across a reel on IG featuring Iraklis. The food looked intriguing and scrumptious...in other words FIRE! I would not have known about this place if it wasn't for the reel. I'm also not familiar with Syrian and Lebanese cuisine. Thought I'd give it a shot. Not the biggest of venues, it a bit small on the inside, they have few benches and tables outside. Parking wasn't an issue, plenty of spaces in the parking lot. The staff was very helpful and informative. This is a fast casual spot with table service. They do bring the food to you, but you can help yourself to everything else afterwards, is: water, sauces, napkins etc. #SyrianEats: WRAP: ~ SHAWARMA: Damascus style CHICKEN - 5/5 Absolutely DELISH!! Love the garlic spread that came on the side. The wrap was already tasty enough, but somehow it was even tastier with the Garlic spread. Even the fries that came with it were spectacular! That drizzle pomegranate molasses... just DELISH!! This was one of the best wraps I had Stateside. Actually the best! PLATE: ~ MANSAF - 5/5 The Lamb shank was excellent as well! Tender fall of the bone with flavor galore, and the butter sauce was amazing as well...delish! The rice that came with the Lamb shank was OK. It was probably good, but the flavor profile didn't stand up to the rest of the food. I thought it could use more flavor, but that just me nitpicking... 4.5 ***** rounded up to 5***** for me This food here is amazing. I'll be back...

The restaurant has been under new ownership for about a month. I was greeted right away and quickly seated. I wanted to order the chicken and beef tenderloin combo, but I was told it wasn't available--even though both items were available individually. That was a little confusing. I ended up ordering the beef tenderloin. It was cooked well done, although no one asked how I wanted it prepared. I would have preferred medium. To start, I ordered the baba ghanoush, which was delicious. They also brought out a huge basket of fresh, homemade bread served with balsamic vinegar and olive oil--definitely one of the highlights of the meal. For my entrée, I skipped the rice and requested double vegetables. Instead, I received double salad. While everything tasted great, for a $36 entrée I was hoping for extra grilled vegetables like cauliflower rather than more salad. Overall, the food was very good, and I'd come back. The restaurant has plenty of seating both inside and on the back patio, TVs throughout, a full bar, and a nice selection of craft beers on tap. It has a welcoming atmosphere and is worth checking out. The staff was friendly, the manager (a lady) was very nice and gave me a small sample of a tomato pico looking item and told me to try it.

They have interesting dishes with paneer and chicken as well. We ordered two dishes- Leela lasun keema - This dish was intriguing, with cheese, grated egg, and a rich, spicy gravy. The portion size was generous; a single person won't be able to finish it with just three breads. It was very filling, we took back home the leftover and enjoyed it later with some rotis. They have another version of this- "kachu" with runny eggs instead of grated eggs.. well thought option! Volcano egg biryani- The dish is as interesting as its name suggests. OH and the Turkish tea is unlimited as well. unfortunately I am not familiar with the best way to prepare or get my own Turkish tea? They had some made and some you got from the machine... tons of sugar cubes... Will stick with ordering coffee next time. We also loved the different cheeses paired with different breads, honey and that homemade jam!! SO GOOD... you can make up any tasty bite you want which I think is the nice thing about the turkish breakfast - you create your own bite each and everytime!! It's fun to try different combinations but I will say I love the salty and sweet combo so either feta cheese with jam or honey on the different breads was my favorite bite. What I didn't care for was the Shaksuka - I've had this dish before at other places and usually it's more flavorful with more eggs - this was bland runny eggs in a dish. Not my favorite and I wouldn't choose this again. And reading some other reviews the eggs with sausage didn't sound like a hit either so am thinking maybe we skip getting any egg dishes from here. I think now that I know more about the dishes I can maybe be more selective but overall it's not inexpensive but worth trying at least once.

I ordered the beef steak with rice and my bf order the chicken suqaar with rice. The food took a…read morewhile to come out but when it did arrive, I immediately noticed the generous portions. Both meats were juicy, flavorful, and tender but if I had to pick one it would hands down by the beef steak. One thing to note about the dining experience is that it was uncomfortably hot inside the restaurant. I went on a summer day when it was in the high 80s and the restaurant didn't have AC or a fan... it was a lot warmer inside the restaurant than it was outside. I felt so relieved when I stepped outside.

My first time trying Somali food and definitely won't be the last! I read some reviews prior to…read morecoming so I knew we weren't going to have water, but man that tea or Shaah was tasty! It did have a lot of sugar, but it was pretty similar flavor-wise to Indian chai (sans milk), so it paired very well with our order. We ordered the chicken suqaar and the beef wrap. We opted for the chapati (sabaayad in Somali) with the chicken suqaar, but would love to try their rice or their version of injera during our next visit! The menu at first glance looks kinda confusing since they have Lunch in big letters on one side with a ton of their dishes and Dinner on the other side with the remainder of the dishes, making it seem like a few items are available during this time... but the Lunch portion just states that it comes with a side of rice, pasta, chapati, or injera (which is the same as Dinner...) so kind of an interesting stylistic choice there, but this is to say that everything on the menu is available the whole time they're open. The meals were so flavorful- the chicken suqaar had a ton of onions, carrots, chicken, green-bean like veggie, and spices, and was served with a green sauce that had kind of a habanero or jalapeno taste to it. The beef wrap was huge and I only ate half of one for dinner- it was flavored so well and the beef was cooked perfectly. This came with a side of the green sauce and a white sauce. I'd love to return and try their injera with chicken, kay kay chicken, beef suqaar or beef steak, and their sambusas! I saw some on another diner's plate and it looked sizable and filling. Jubba is located right next to a VTA light rail and an apartment complex so there's decent foot traffic, but overall, a wonderful place to try and eat!
