Ordered Chole bhature through Delivery. Chole - Too Salty and bad oil in it, got stomach ache after an hour. Bhature - Expected bhatura but got 2 small Pooris instead. Called restaurant and was told that they serve Small bhatures. I had to correct them that these are Pooris, not bhatures. Was told again that he would pass these reviews back to the manager. I asked to transfer to Manager but he insisted that he would deliver the message. Would not recommend the place for the chole bhature at all. read more

Trip back from Santa Cruz and a craving for chilli chicken leads to search for indo-Chinese cuisine, being Monday most places are closed & yelp comes up with this place as "open". Well when you don't have much options you give available spots a shot & boy we can't ask for more. Right from the moment we entered the hospitality was amazing with chai on the house and a very detailed description about special menu items, though a bit apprehensive at first we ordered the goat barbecue which was one of their speciality combined with the perfect amount of spices and cooked just right it stood upto it's tag of being "special". For appetizer we got fried chicken momos cooked in chilli sauce (the same exact ingredients in chilli chicken) which turned out quite well with crispy spicy extra exterior coated with ginger/garlic/chilli sauce & with minced chicken inside providing that perfect crispy saucy experience. [we ordered medium spicy which I believe is spicy enough] Special mention to the desert it's basically rice pudding but like none other I have tasted so far, it's a combination of jaggery, cooked rice, cardamom, cinnamon, nuts, a bit of pepper (yes pepper to balance the sweetness) & some Magic ! The thali and chicken momos were tasty and everyone cleaned their plates. The thali had a couple of firsts for us. The bamboo, black eye peas curry was quite tasty. The "pickles" tasted like sour gluten puffs in sauce. Weird but oddly appealing. However, 30 mins after leaving, our entire party was hit a sodium/MSG induced thirst. Like the kind you get after overeating at a really cheap AYCE buffet. Since the food didn't taste like a salt lick, we'd have to assume that it was a large amount of MSG like additive. We were chugging water and dealing with post MSG headaches. Our collective afternoon office productivity was quite ruined. So, won't be coming back. read more

We were craving some momos and our typical place had closed down during the coronavirus shelter-in-place so ordered delivery from this place. Tried: veggie momos, Gobi Manchurian, and Aloo Bodi Tama. The veggie momos were quite tasty , more flavorful filling than most - but they were exploded/overcooked and they didn't heed the request for double the sauces unfortunately. The Gobi I would probably skip next time - nothing bad, but not great. My husband really enjoyed the Aloo Bodi dish (described as a stew but more like a daal with black eyed peas and some bamboo shoots). read more

Hands down one of the best Nepalese restaurants in the Bay Area! This is the first time we tried this place out after multiple recommendations. We had low-ish expectations. The restaurant is very basic nothing to rave about the ambiance or decor but what matters is the food. We ordered chicken momos: love that the wrapper is soft and freshly made gives you that tasty delight you want from momos and then the juicy ness. Oh yum! Next we had chicken chilly and this for real is the best chicken chilly outside of Nepal I've tried. The flavors were on point and delicious. We ended up ordering a second one oops. We ordered the thali.. it was the worst we have had .. the chicken small bowl had 2 pieces which had no flavor and was watered down. The potato beans curry was the same and the dal .. i have no idea what it was.. watery and tasted just boiled with some salt.. i guess. There was ghee and 2 -3 pieces of carrot and cucumber. Not worth $16 we paid for.. found it overpriced and quality not expected. Am sure they can do better than this. If you're in the mood for momos, Gurkha kitchen does not disappoint! You can find the restaurant tucked away in a larger shopping complex with plenty of parking available. The restaurant itself is more casual and homey, we could tell some of the other diners were regulars. We ordered the vegetarian jhol momos, the aloo bodi tama, paneer tikka masala, garlic naan, and chai. The momos and chutney were excellent, would definitely recommend getting it jhol style. The Paneer tikka masala was so tasty and aromatics were on point, only thing which would have made it perfect was if it was spicier (but that's just personal preference). The Aloo bodi tama is such a unique dish, I've never had an Indian/Nepalese dish which had essence of bamboo. If you're looking for a different flavor, then that's the dish to get. Garlic naan was solid. Chai could have been stronger, felt a little more on the milky side, but still hit the spot after a good meal. With quick and friendly service, tasty food, and a homey feel, we will definitely be back to try more dishes! read more

My wife and I went there to have a typical momo and chowmein, and they were delicious. Better than a few places we had been in the Bay area for Nepali food. However, we did not like the service over there. There were no napkins on the table, and even we requested they took a while to get us the napkins. Also, it took them a while to bring the check, and then we had to ask a couple of times to receive the credit card. My first encounter with Nepali food and This place didn't let me down. We got the lunch platters and the chicken curry was on point. What was distinct was the dal- pretty simple and earthy. The vegetarian curries were homely with the three options we got - potato, mushroom and cauliflower. Would not recommend the pan fried in sauce. We were looking forward to try this new place since we don't have many Nepalese restaurant which serves really authentic flavors. So happy we tried it today for lunch. We tried several dishes like Buff Momo with Jhol it came piping hot with 2 dipping sauces it was soft & really good flavors. Badel Sadeko served with chiura (beaten rice or poha) Bhatmas ( soyabean) and achar most interesting & unique dish we ever had, it had a kick from jalapeño & crunch from poha & soya bean. Goat Thakali Thali with tandoori roti on the side this dish came on a beautiful brass thali looked so beautiful this thali was just wow for us very good & balanced flavors from all the veggies & kalo dal in the thali there was one particular potato veggies curry which was served cold my husband loved it very much goat was very tender & the curry had just the right amount of spice & the best part was it came with ghee which elevated the dish to just another level just awesome!!! We loved the goat so much that we ordered goat curry for to go to relish it in the evening. Fantastic food! Very authentic. Had lunch with the family there today. Although the momos aren't the same as the ones I grew up eating, they're still really delicious. We ordered chicken momos, the goat curry thali (next time we'll skip the thali and just get the curry), Gurkha chicken curry (everyone agreed this was our fave - tender chicken in a delicious curry), Chola batura (spot on flavor and non greasy baturas) and rice + daal for the kids. Tadka daal is such a simple dish and most places make it really boring. This was the surpriser among all the dishes. It was flavorful and made fresh! Highly recommend this restaurant. Just had this place tonight, as it's the first Nepalese style place I've seen around here (other than food trucks). We got the Buffalo Momos, Pahadi Chicken Tikka, Spring Rolls, and Garlic Naan, and everything was wonderful! Went to pick up food for door dask. My instructions was to knock on the front door and tell them who I was picking up for. NEVER EVER WAS I TOLD TO STAY OUTSIDE and wait for my order The person that answered the door was rude and didn't even bother to ask the person's name.
