Went back to The Halal Guys after years, and wow the nostalgia hit instantly. My sister had it recently and it put the craving back in my head, so we grabbed it for lunch. We ordered the classic lamb & beef plate with lettuce, tomatoes, jalapeños, onions, white sauce, and a line of red sauce. The flavors were exactly how I remembered savory, satisfying, and that white sauce still hits every time. The lamb and beef were especially good, tender and well-seasoned. The only downside was the rice. We went at that awkward in-between time around 3 PM, and it seemed like it had been sitting from the lunch rush. It was a bit dry and slightly crunchy, even sticking to my teeth, which made it pretty unpleasant. Honestly, I think I'd be a lot more excited to come back if the experience had been better. The rice kind of threw everything off for me, so I'm not super inclined to return anytime soon which is a bummer because I used to really love this spot. That said, everything else was enjoyable and definitely brought back good memories. I'd come back just maybe during a busier time to get everything fresh.

ordered a Beef Gyro with their white sauce packet, delivered by DoorDash. The GYRO was one of the worst I've ever had. The meat was very little seasoned, and the Pita Bread was so stale, it literally crumbled to pieces while eating it. White sauce was not good at all either.

I'm from New York and have been living here for a few years. This Tustin location is by far the best, even better than the one in Costa Mesa. The service is very accommodating, and the food quality and portions remind me of the East Coast. The dining area is clean, and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

I always order the regular platter (half gyro/half chicken) with extra tomatoes and lettuce. There's never enough pita bread, so I also added on extra pita bread. My kids love their pita bread and fries. We also got the seasoned waffle fries. It's only available for a limited time, so I had to order it. It is super crispy and drenched with oil. Save your calories and skip them.

Halal Guys is in the District between Whole Foods and In N Out. I had the Beef Gyro with a smear of hummus (for $1 more) and spent roughly $15 out the door. The bread is very thick and doughy -- I assumed there'd by some crispness to it, but there's not. You can customize your wrap and once fully assembled, it looked amazing, but ultimately tasted like bread and hot sauce. While there was a large serving of meat, it was very under-seasoned and lacked the meaty flavor I expected. Sadness. There's really not much else to say... Halal Guys is the Middle Eastern equivalent of Subway -- quick, edible, and filling, but not enjoyable and not worth recommending.

First tries this in NYC and loved it! So happy to have a location near me. It's not quite the same as when eating on the streets of NYC but it's still quite delicious and brings back memories of my trips. I always get the platters with gyro and chicken and I put everything on it...including lots of hot sauce! Even the server looked worried about how much hot sauce I put on but I can totally handle it and probably can put more! Friendly and fast service, lots of seating available and refillable soft drinks. Get the app for special promotions and rewards.

We were nearby for Ian's entertainment and stopped by at Halal Guys for a late lunch. Mrs. and Ian opted for Beef Gyro Platter and I availed myself to their chicken offering. Employees were generous with their portions. Taste is the same as the other Halal Guys locations. Food is fresh and tasty. Their sauce is to die for! Baklava Cheesecake was unique. I dig!!!

Wednesday, November 5th, 2025 Approx. 1PM When I lived in NYC and had to work late into the night, I survived on gyro platters from The Halal Guys stand on Avenue of the Americas. Even at 11PM at night, you typically had to stand in line for half an hour to get your food. It was THAT good. Now regarding the location in Tustin: PROS: - Flavor essentially the same as NYC. (But not the pita bread.) - Great location CONS: - Paid almost $18.00 for a "Small" platter. Back when I lived in NYC, a LARGE platter cost $8.00 - They went skimpy on the meat. The Halal Guys in NYC NEVER WENT SKIMPY ON THE MEAT volume. This is part of what made The Halal Guys so great in NYC. - The pita served w/the platters in NYC had that home-baked flavor, like it was made that afternoon somewhere in Brooklyn. The pita here looks and tastes like it came out of some machine. If you're got a craving for Halal food and have $20.00 to blow on a small, but flavorful meal in this era of inflation, come here. Otherwise, the best bang for your buck is the original Halal Guys food carts in NYC.

Zero stars. First off this place has no air conditioning. It's hotter inside than it is outside. The chicken is so salty that it's inedible. The pita bread is hard and stale. The humus has no flavor. When I asked a worker how the points worked on the app, he was sweating all over the place. Absolutely disgusting.

I first tried Halal Guys at the original food truck in New York so I was pleasantly surprised to find one here. The food is good, a nice kick of flavors and can't go wrong with the white sauce! I got half gyro and half chicken, and the meat was slightly on the saltier side today. I've been here previously and it was good, so maybe it's just how they made it today. I also got a side of hummus which comes with either pita bread or pita chips. Again, there food is a good standard if you want to try them out. Nothing too spectacular but still hits the spot! The service was quick, and there's seating both indoors and outdoors.

I always stop by Halal Guys whenever I'm at the District. It's quick and easy to order since it's assembly line style. I got the large combo bowl and I love how much food they give, I always have leftovers so it's always 2-3 meals for me. There's lots of table seating inside, but I got my food to go. I also got a lychee iced tea, but was a little disappointed because you could hardly taste the lychee flavor. I've had this drink here before and it usually tastes really good, but I got a bad batch this time. The rest of the food was really good and I love how they add as much sauce as you want.

Food was excellent, so I ordered again just 3 days later. Received my $54 dollar order via postmates and was missing half my order. Called and got voice mail. Very disappointed. Not sure what happened, but no response or ability to leave message is unacceptable. Im trying to support local business during this Corona virus and this is the service I get???? Can't believe I waited so long to try this place. So amazing. If you're allergic to eggs, don't get the white sauce. I got the combo with half rice and half salad. I prefer the beef over chicken but it wasn't bad. It wasn't too busy Sunday at 12. Will have to go back soon. read more

I grew up in New York, so when my husband and I moved to California not getting my monthly chicken guy (53rd &6th) was an issue. I read online that they opened a chain of stores so I went. The closest one to me is the one in Irving from Oceanside. AMAZING!! Worth the trip. AC & Sandra really make you feel welcome, they are efficient and pleasant. 1000000% will be back. The portions were so small here. I can't believe they charge so much for a few shreds of meat. Plus it was freezing inside. My wife and kids had to wear winter jackets because it was so cold. It was 60 degrees outside but the restaurant was even colder. The manager said that the temperature was locked and couldn't change it. He was wearing a jacket too. This place is overrated. One of those hip chains that's all about hype but when it comes to the food, it's a rip off. Not coming back here again. read more

This was an alright place. Food was good but overall I am a bit disappointed. They put way too much salad in my bowl and not enough rice or meat. It felt like eating a salad. My aunt was disappointed too as she ate at a Halals in Vegas and it was great. Overall I can't say I'll come back.. I guess we'll see. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the behavior of one of the staff members at this restaurant. From the moment we arrived, their attitude was rude and unprofessional. Instead of being welcoming, they were dismissive and made us feel like we were a burden. When we tried to ask questions about the menu, their responses were abrupt and condescending. At one point, they even raised their voice, which was completely unacceptable. A restaurant should prioritize respect and customer satisfaction, but unfortunately, this was not the case here. Such behavior is inexcusable and reflects poorly on the establishment. I strongly urge the management to train their staff in proper customer service. My beef was tasty and of high quality, the tabbouleh good the hummus and garlic sauce great. I have seen videos of a restaurant this is called an express. I would love to try the restaurant.

I'm so glad the are open on the weekends now. I work weekends so I love that I can come here for lunch. Shout out to Jose! I met him today and he told me he has been working here for 11 years now. He is the cook and also helps out in the front as a cashier. He prepped all the soups and salads and sandwiches. he is so hard-working! He has great customer service as well. He's the best! The restaurant is well kept and super clean! There is ample parking right outside, but it does get chaotic during the work week during primetime lunch hours. Which, quite fortuitously, also happened to come along right after discovering The Buffalo Spot while poking around online. More than convenient timing, to be honest, but I wasn't complaining, as I had never seen a place that specializes in buffalo chicken before. I just wish the experience had turned out better. Inside, this place is somewhat akin to a fast food type of restaurant, but so much cleaner. Unlike your typical KFC and Popeyes, this place actually felt super tidy and didn't have the smell or feel of grease. As for the menu, the aforementioned buffalo chicken is their specialty and comes with varying levels of spiciness and seasonings. However, it's not the only choice to have either, as they also offer a handful of non-buffalo options, such as Lemon Pepper, Garlic Parmesan, BBQ, and plain. So, whether you tenders, wings, fried chicken sandwiches, salads, wraps, or one of their sides, they have a range of flavors for different tastes, as well as a vegetarian option (cauliflower), too! -- CHICKEN CAESAR WRAP with Original Hit Buffalo Chicken, Romaine Lettuce, Parmesan Cheese, Croutons, and Caesar Dressing...$11.49 This is what drew me here, but it was kind of a miss all around. While I was definitely happy to see so much chicken in this, I didn't care much for the taste of it, which was heavy on buffalo sauce. What's more, the wrap wasn't very tight, so the whole thing fell apart just a few bites in. -- JUMBO CHICKEN TENDERS with Cajun Seasoning...$5.99 It's on me for not clarifying beforehand, but we thought this was Cajun seasoning instead of buffalo sauce - not both. Thankfully, the blue cheese sauce helped offset how tart the flavor was, and each piece was decently large and moist, but it was more okay than great. -- CLASSIC DELUXE CHICKEN SANDWICH with Garlic Parmesan Chicken, Lettuce, Tomato, and Pickles...$7.49 On the plus side, both the garlic parmesan sauce on the chicken and the house sauce they drizzle on top were pretty good. On the other, the random shreds of parmesan were awkward, the bun was very dry, and the piece of chicken was notably smaller than the bun. -- FRENCH FRIES & FOUNTAIN SODA ADD-ON COMBO...$4.46 Ehh. Like with the chicken, you can choose a seasoning and I thought the Cajun one was pretty good - a little spice, but nothing crazy. Yet, somewhat surprisingly, the fries weren't very crispy and the inside was a little starchy. As much of a bummer as it was that the food was so underwhelming, the said could be said for the service as well. Not in the sense that the workers were rude or anything like that. Rather, it's just that, despite how there weren't any other customers around, they still estimated it would take about 15 minutes for our orders to be ready. Granted, it's possible there were mobile orders ahead of us, but it seemed unlikely given how the worker in the kitchen stood there watching us, waiting for our order to get put in so they could start working on our food. Between how neither of the buffalo chicken flavors did much for me and how the Garlic Parmesan one tasted so much better, part of me can't help but think the non-buffalo flavors (or that I'm not as big of a fan of buffalo sauce as I used to be). Given that, I wouldn't be entirely opposed to coming back, especially since we didn't try the wings. Even then though, based on what we've tried, I wouldn't be in a huge rush nor would I get my hopes up very high... TWO AND A HALF STARS rounded down.
