Came here for my 40th birthday brunch. Food was amazing service was outstanding, only gripe is we had to wait because they wouldn't take a reservation for "Only" 6 people considering how small this place is I would think a party of 6 would warrant a reservation. read more

Very rude staff. Super unorganized! The bar tender was extremely out of line and rude. We came and put our name in the waiting list and waiting time was 45min which ended up to 1.5 hours. It was supper unorganized! read more

I give this place 3 stars bc it was not worth waiting 1.5 hrs to get your food! And they seems to always run out of the bread pudding which they give it to you when you check in. I ordered the steak and egges , which the steak was so tough and full of fat! The pictures on yelp looks much better than it taste! The service was horrible! We had to take care of ourselves and they had 1 restroom so not only you have to share witj men but another long line! I dont think ill ever return to this place for their service or food! No thanks! read more

Had brunch with a friend today and sat outside which is perfect on a day like today! At 10:30 the wait was about 30 minutes so not too bad. But it definitely became busier quickly and they don't take reservations. I ordered the Morning Glory breakfast panini and it was delicious!!! I visited this place and the waiting period was at least 30 minutes. The server was rushing and I don't think it's a quality job if I waited 30 minutes to be served. My smoked salmon Benedict was not to my expectation. read more

This is a good place for brunch, however they don't take reservations for any group smaller than 7, which is unfortunate and makes for a long wait. Once you are seated the service is very attentive. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and my friend ordered the Belgian Waffles. Both were pretty tasty. We also ordered cranberry and orange juice mimosas that's were great! The parking is hard but the decor and outside seating is very cute and good for a nice day! read more

WOW. Why did i wait so long to come in and try this place out !! Best breakfast! And that was agreed upon by myself and my 20 year old son who came with me ! And can i just say we finished our meal with the churro fries. If you haven't tried those yet. DO IT NOW !!!! The food was amazing and the customer service was outstanding. My waitress was super attentive to us. I made additional requests to my food - like asking for whip cream for my churro fries - and she promptly got it for me! Overall a great experience with amazing food. We already have plans to go back for dinner this weekend ! read more

I ordered pick up during the pandemic. Showed up and every outdoor table was packed with people like a super spreader event and the tables were barely 6 feet apart. Only masks were on the staff who I felt horrible for, and why I will never go back. Food was fine, but the owners need to treat their employees with more respect for their safety. read more

Wow! The portions here are HUGE! I recommend sharing one entree for 2-3 pax, seriously. They're that big. Best thing to eat? 'Nuff said about the chicken-fried steak between Belgian waffles: amazing, especially with Tabasco sauce and maple syrup. Sweet, savory, mmm humm.... Parking is limit so we usually park by the Animal Hospital. Dogs are welcome on the patio. They even brought us a water bowl for our pup! read more

My boyfriend and I decided to stop for some eats at a restaurant near the Downtown Walnut Creek Century movie theater, and Yelp helped us locate this little hidden gem. We didn't have a reservation, but they kindly set us up with a couple of seats at the bar in less than a minute. Based on glowing reviews, we both ordered the honey fried chicken entree with sides of mashed potatoes and braised kale with cranberries, and let me just say, OMG. The truffle honey glaze on the chicken is to die for. Everything was perfect. What delicious food! What delightful, personalized service! And how great are the portion sizes, guys? Three gigantic pieces of all white meat boneless chicken. Made for a great late nite snack; the chicken reheats real nice. TL;DR -- GO HERE!! Came here for dinner yesterday. They have street or small private parking. Small nice things place. Had the burger was ok the honey fried cchicken for my wife was really good. Its one of those dishes theyre known for. The honey was subtle and added that kind of sweet savory taste. Served with tasty mashed potatoes and kale with bits of cranberry. If i were to come again id get what theyre known for; the other items were just ok. If you check in, you get free bread pudding which was one of the highlights big enough for 2. A great menu but way under-salted...the waitress brought out salt to the table so maybe Chef prepares dishes under-salted for a very picky market...condolences to the Chef ;-( Lovely atmosphere and we sat at the 6 top. Our waitress was fabulous and very attentive. Great wine. Really enjoyed our evening here but the food missed the mark because of the salt, but I'm thinking this has more to do with customers than Chef's decisions. read more

Finally was able to try the hideout on a Sunday afternoon. It was probably my mistake for getting there around 12:30pm, because the wait was about 40 minutes for 2 people! We were definitely hangry by the time we were notified via text that our table was ready. Got to try their Country Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs and Eggs Benedict. Food was good, but the service was the worst I've ever experienced in a while. The host was the only person who was helpful. We seemed to have been invisible because our server never came by to take our drink orders, then drinks came and we still never saw our waiter for food. We had to order everything through the host. Drinks never were refilled and we were never checked on. When the food came, our hashbrowns were cold, there were eggshells in my food, and no one came by to tell me they ran out of English muffins that came as a side with my meal until I asked about it towards the end. My +1 also ordered onions to be added to his hashbrowns and they added it to the benedict instead for 50 cents. Hopefully, no one would have the same bad service when they visit. read more

I found this little spot today . There was a 20,minute wait but once we were seated, we were served immediately. Our food came pretty fast. My son devoured the waffle chicken sandwich especially after our server suggested 3 ways to enjoy it. My husband's grilled cheese looked delicious loaded with different cheeses but he was not thrilled with the tomato soup. He said it tasted like the Costco soup...oops. I had the turkey, bacon avocado sandwich which had nice slices of warm turkey, cheddar , a good portion of avocado on a brioche bun and a side salad. I think the Pesto aioli could have used more pesto. The cranberry bread pudding with vanilla ice cream topped with fresh berries that was offered free with a yelp check in was so good. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only was the food delicious, the service was very good. read more

A bit of a wait on the weekend but got seated nonetheless. Great food. Good service. Only small complaint is due to the fact I had asked the hostess for coffees while waiting for my name to be called to be seated and 15 mins later, nothing. Not a peep. She obviously forgot. I checked in with her and another 8 minutes or so later, she then brought the coffees outside to us but with no instruction or information on where we could get cream and sugar. I inquired with other waitstaff and got the answer. I like my coffee black. No problem there but my father likes to spruce his up. Although minor, it was a small hiccup worth mentioning. Back to the food... the waffle sandwich and eggs bene were delicious. Some of the best hashbrowns I've had in a while. The complimentary cranberry bread pudding upon check in was a bonus. This used to be our fav go-to for the best food and service for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On three different occasions within a few months brought friends for a lunch and then two dinners. I've been living in Lafayette for over a year now and I have deprived myself of this delicious and cozy spot! My friend and I decided to come the day before. After reading reviews and pegging this as a popular spot, we weren't able to make a reservation so decided to wing it and wait. The wait wasn't too bad. Waited about 45 minutes and they were able to give us coffee while we waited. Once we sat at the bar, we had quick and friendly service. I had the breakfast burrito which was super big and filling. I got it with sausage. We also had raspberry mimosas and they were on point! Will definitely be back! read more

Great food, friendly service at reasonable prices. I would definitely come back and absolutely recommend it. We went for dinner... I had the ribeye and my wife had a Cobb salad. Both were on point. The scallop potatoes that came with my steak were a surprise... very good!! Thank you Eddie for making us feel welcome! I don't remember the waitresses name but she was very nice as well. The food: Garlic Noodle with Crispy Chicken - Garlic Noodles were tasty. The Crispy Chicken had really nice, almost tempura like batter. Wish it had a little sauce or something to bring it all together. Berry Lover Toast - Two large pieces of French Toast with a blueberry based inside, topped with a ton of stuff including sliced almonds, corn flakes, powdered sugar, sliced grapes and some thinly sliced oranges. There's a lot going on here. I did like the strawberry preserves as a topper - it seemed homemade and it wasn't too sweet. I didn't try any of my friend's Country Potatoes, but they looked legit. Good service and plenty of nearby parking. Properly named, as this is a good place to Hangout!

Since we were there so early we were able to get seated right away without reservations. Walking in my first impression is this restaurant is beautiful! It's professionally decorated/designed. We ordered the ube latte, matcha latte, marnier French toast, coconut moffle, and millionaires bacon. Service was great! Everything came out very quickly! The ube latte actually had a very strong ube taste and not just the brilliant purple color. And you could tell it was freshly prepared since it was still a tiny bit warm despite being an iced drink. The matcha came with cute latte art and was filled to the brim. The matcha was a good strength without crossing into overly earthy. The French toast had a very smoky flavor that reminded me of the smoke when a birthday candle is blown out. I don't know how they did that. It was a very unique flavor. The moffle was a very balanced and tasty dish. The Brie went well with the raspberries. The waffle had a nice chewy texture from the mochi. I didn't get a lot of coconut flavor but I still enjoyed it a lot! The millionaires bacon hit all the right notes for me. You have the saltiness, a kick of spiciness, some sweetness, etc. The only negative for me was the front door/entrance should stay closed more. There were some flies that distracted from the lovely experience. But that may not be completely possible given how popular they are there are probably a lot of people coming in and out at any given time. We left stuffed but without leftovers. It is a little pricier for breakfast. I think after tip it was around $100. So it was $50 per person. This is one of the best brunches I've had in a long time! I can't wait to come back and try their other items.

On an ordinary Thursday, there were multiple groups waiting outside for the restaurant to open at 11:30 AM. That in itself should tell you how popular this place is. My wife and I dined at sister restaurant Southie next door a few years ago and really enjoyed it (I also rated it five stars on Yelp), so I was confident Wood Tavern would not disappoint. I initially booked our reservation using OpenTable to link it to my account and get 100 points. Since the max party size for Wood Tavern on OpenTable is four, I had to call to get it changed to eight. Due to the large party size, the restaurant also required me to give them my credit card info and be subject to a $25 per person no-show fee. Upon arrival, our tables were ready for us in the back corner near the open kitchen. The restaurant is true to its name with a shared bar and dining room space that evoke the feel of a wood tavern. Thank goodness we followed her advice - the frites were among the best I've ever tasted! We debated ordering another cone of frites but decided to pace ourselves because we also ordered the gougères, RÊVE salad, and escargot to share. Additionally, we received complimentary fresh baguette and butter. For my main dish, I decided to try the quenelle, which can be described as a soft dumpling made from seafood purée that resembles a velvety soufflé. Every bite had a rich seafood flavor that, even now, I can't stop thinking about. Even though we were quite full after dinner, we were tempted by the dessert menu and decided to split the chocolate mousse and French opera cake. Both desserts were exquisite - they were small portions but packed a lot of richness without being overly sweet. Our dinner was made extra special by the restaurant staff, who remembered that we were celebrating a graduation and signed a card for us. Verdict - they definitely are not authentic. Just because you use coconut milk in the fish curry, it doesn't become Goan. They just made up the recipe and call it Goan. The keema kulcha was fine - lots of minced lamb filling, and pretty filling on its own. Ambience looked proper, and the place looked clean at first blush (but I haven't done a sit-down meal here). I taught myself a long time ago to completely avoid Indian food places in the Walnut Creek - Lafayette neighborhoods. For whatever reason, I finally decided to try this place (in some 17 years of living in Walnut Creek). This place also confirms my previous experiences. Will skip this place for good. Not even sure where to begin the story with this experience--it's one I honestly wish I could close the book on quickly. The Hideout sounded promising, but unfortunately, this chapter turned into more of a cautionary tale than a page‑turner. To give credit where it's due, we were seated promptly, and the host was incredibly warm and welcoming--full of smiles and good energy. That moment? Easily the highlight of the entire visit, the only part worth bookmarking. Our waiter was kind enough, but nothing that stood out--just going through the motions, no extra effort to really elevate the experience. Now, here's where the plot starts to unravel. Within five minutes of sitting down, we had already placed our drink and food orders, expecting things to move along smoothly. Instead, we were left in a long, drawn-out wait--20 minutes for drinks. Yes, 20. We went through two rounds of water and nearly got up ourselves to check on the status. By the time the drinks finally arrived, our food followed just a minute later, making the whole pacing feel rushed and poorly written. The drinks were a real letdown. The Irish coffee was acceptable, but my sangria was... honestly, a sad little side note. One lonely slice of orange, watered-down ice, and a flavor that tasted like it came straight from a can. It looked tired, tasted flat, and definitely didn't live up to expectations--hardly a refreshing twist in the story. Then came the food, which didn't redeem things. We both ordered Eggs Benedict with different sides. My husband's looked decent, but mine was inconsistent at best--one egg perfectly runny, the other completely overcooked. The hollandaise sauce, the supposed star of the dish, was bland, thin, and barely there. It lacked brightness, seasoning, and any real depth--like a missing chapter that could have made the whole thing worthwhile. The only slight note of interest was the microgreens, but even that felt more like filler than a highlight. Circling back to the pacing--waiting around that long for drinks really dampened the experience. It made the entire meal feel disjointed and poorly executed, like a story that just couldn't find its rhythm. All in all, this isn't a brunch spot I'd recommend or revisit. Lunch today at the Hideout was an unplanned highlight of my day. I was looking for a quiet place to eat lunch on the East side of Lafayette and was not having much luck finding anything that wasn't going to be heavy or fast food. I pulled into the Hideout parking lot to turn my car around and then I saw it...the perfect lunch spot. I parked easily (no easy feat in Lafayette!) and went inside to be cheerfully greeted by one of the waiters. They seated me immediately and were attentive, courteous, and helpful the entire time. The owner introduced himself and poured my high end sparkling water for me and asked me how my day was going..very friendly. The chicken curry wrap that I ordered came up quickly and was absolutely delicious! The wrap had perfectly cooked green beans, potatoes, farro, and curried chicken proportioned very well within the thick whole-wheat tortilla. The seasoning within the wrap was delicious but also difficult for me to define which tells me that these creative chefs know what they are doing to keep a fresh and inventive edge in their menu selections. I know that some people only write bad reviews and some people only write good reviews and then there are some of us who never write reviews unless the whole package comes along... which it rarely does. First time dining here tonight after hearing from friends in town that there was a new place to eat. We had to check it out of course. They were busy tonight but they accommodated us as fast as they could. We only waited about 5 min so it wasn't bad at all. The guy that sat us was very nice and told us the server would be with us shortly and to enjoy dinner. Maybe he was manager because he was greeting other tables and kind of moving about the dining room. Anyways, my wife had the bologonese pasta and I had the honey chicken. They both were excellent and we had some bread to soak up the delicious sauce from the pasta. I love fried chicken so I was excited to try their version. It had a sweet flavor but it was also balanced with the saltiness of the chicken. Scalloped potatoes were awsome too....and the kale was great as well. All in all it was a well balanced dish. Pasta was like eating mom's recipe, and my mom can make a mean pasta. Over all I would def come back and I'm going to try the salmon! it was a cozy place and felt comfortable but still upscale in nature. The server was great too. Very attentive and sweet. I will be back soon. I'm sure this place will stand the test of time....there has been a few restaurants in this location and I've been to all of them. The hideout kitchen is definitely the best restaurant I have ever been to. The food is fantastic, and our waiter, Travis was amazing. If the food had been mediocre (which is not even close to how amazing the hideout food is) Travis would have made it even better just by being our server. He was so polite and was quick with orders. He was also very friendly. (He was so nice, he made me feel like we were friends). I ordered the Honey Fried Chicken. I didn't have particularly high expectations...after all, it's just chicken, right? Then after I tried it, my tastebuds were practically dancing on my tongue. I shared a bite with each person at my table, and they all loved it. Aside the chicken on my plate, was a delicious mound of mashed potatoes. My order turned out to be a pleasant surprise, and I left quite satisfied. The meat was tender and flavorful. However, the garlic rice lacked the garlic kick that's expected in a silog dish. I'd order it again, perhaps with a special request for extra garlic. Ube Hotcakes with Nutella, Strawberries, and Bananas - 8/10 Sweet, just the way I like it! I thoroughly enjoyed this dish with its delightful assortment of fillings. The food here was absolutely delicious! The steak was cooked to perfection -- tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and seasoned just right. I paired everything with a frosé, which was icy, refreshing, and the perfect balance of sweet and tart -- such a fun and tasty addition to the meal. The interior of the restaurant is stunning -- warm, stylish, and inviting. It has a great ambiance that makes you want to linger and enjoy the experience. That said, the service felt a bit rushed. While the staff was polite and efficient, we felt slightly hurried through the meal, which took away from what could have been a more relaxed and enjoyable evening. Had a holiday brunch with girlfriends at this lovely spot. There's a convenient paid parking lot right across the street. While there wasn't a visible sign for "The Hideout," it's easy to find on the corner of Main Street. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating options. The host, hostess, and servers were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Portions were generous, so we ended up taking some home. The desserts were a standout treat! My personal favorite was the lemon tart, but the churros, resembling a waffle, were also authentic and flavorful. The cheesecake was perfectly balanced--not overly rich. The Hideout was highly recommended to me by a co-worker, so I decided to treat my teenage daughter to a good meal. Our food was pretty good, just kind of basic comfort food. But we had a really rough time with our server. I don't know how to describe it other than extremely awkward. He was clearly being very flirtatious with me, and like I said my daughter was with me. I kind of laughed it off at first but then realized he wasn't stopping when I was clearly uncomfortable. It ended up being a terrible experience over all. He had dark hair, late 40's, Brian or Ryan was his name. We recently had brunch at "The Hideout Kitchen" and discovered they had moved to a new location. Initially impressed by the expanded seating, our experience quickly soured. We were seated immediately but waited 20 minutes before our order was taken. Additionally, our server spilled water on the table, poorly cleaned it, and left the surface wet, requiring further assistance to tidy up. My Arnold Palmer was mostly lemonade, lacking the proper balance with tea. Previously, we enjoyed frequent visits to The Hideout for its food and service, but since the move, both the quality of the food and the service have declined. Came in tonight with grandma and family. First time eating here but I heard through friends it was a good place. Turns out my grandma reserved a spot for us and didn't know until we got here. It was busy but our server was attentive and made sure we were ok the whole time. I has the fried chicken and it was awsome. I like kale too so it was a good matching. The rest of my family had good food too. I tried everyone's food. We finished with natella smore it was worth the wait. It's so cozy in here and decorated very cute. I'll def be back soon. My wife and I dined at the Hideout. The decor was nice and the place seemed like a great place to eat. Unfortunately, we had the worst possible service. A server named Brian waited on us, yet we felt like he held us hostage by telling us his life story. We merely wanted to order and enjoy one another's company, but instead could barely get through ordering as Brian had to go on and on talking about, honestly we don't know what, and then each time he returned it was the same thing. My wife and I ended up eating our food as fast as possible just so we could get out of there. Anyone place who would hire this guy isn't a place I would like to give my money to. read more

Been here twice. Both times I really enjoyed my meals, the service lagged a bit but that's to be expected when the place is completely full! And full for a good reason, the food is outstanding. I did however see a waffle sandwich that looked like it belonged in a dive bar haha. I'd order it just not in this setting. Seemed out of place. Back to the good stuff. Very solid eggs Benedict, not Brenda's French soul good but right behind it. The veggie scramble my wife got she loved. The have mimosas also. I cannot recommend this brunch spot enough! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and excellent service. The ambiance was inviting, with cozy decor and a lovely atmosphere. The menu had a fantastic selection of brunch options, from classic dishes to unique creations. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. I love this place and have been here many times, but I will not be returning after my last visit. My girlfriends and I came in to have some drinks and food, but our server made us so uncomfortable! He was extremely creepy! He was much older then us but continually hit on all of us, asking personal questions like if anyone had a boyfriend etc.. He even went on to tell us some stupid stories about him traveling to India and showing us his arm tatooos. It was really weird and just made our whole experience really bad. It's right around the corner from Bradley School of Music, so we often get a pot of coffee and some delicious breakfast each Saturday around brunch. When first started coming here, it was easier to get a seat, but word has definitely gotten around. The wait is never too long though and always worth it. The food is top quality and the owner values the feedback of the patrons. The atmosphere is rustic wood with metal accents, warm tile with a friendly, country feel. I usually like coming to this place because it's on my way home. Since the remodel there has been a change in overall service and food and not for the better. Usually takes forever for a server or bartender to acknowledge you and twice I've seen my drink left on counter for 3 min or longer before server brought it. Who likes warm beer? Food is very good. The ambiance is positive. But every time we go, there's always a mistake on the order. Even when we told the waitress to write it down, they still get it wrong. The last time, they forgot to bring one of the main dishes out. So one of our friends had to eat our food. The apologized but didn't offer to make it right away. We are all human and mistakes happen but wouldn't you at least want to make it right and ask to make right now for you? There was only one party ahead of us waiting to be seated, and it didn't even appear that they had been acknowledged. About two or three minutes later, a gentleman came over, asked how many were in their party, and seated them. We then waited another five minutes before the bartender finally looked over and asked, "Have you been helped?" We replied, "No." He asked how many were in our party, whether we preferred inside or outside seating, and then seated us inside. After sitting for about 10 minutes with no acknowledgment from the server, the bartender returned and took our order. I had two very simple modifications to my meal. I repeated them a couple of times just to make sure they were noted, as they were nothing complicated. I simply didn't want two ingredients that normally came as garnishes. The bartender read my order back, confirmed the modifications, and walked away. About 35 minutes later, our food finally arrived, but we still hadn't received our beverages. I politely asked another server, who had yet to acknowledge us once during our visit, if we could please get our cappuccino. He brought over a regular coffee instead. I politely explained that we had actually ordered a cappuccino. He seemed irritated but said, "Fine, I'll go get it for you." Unfortunately, my food wasn't prepared correctly despite the bartender repeating the order back to me. Even more disappointing, my entire meal was ice cold. The scramble was cold, the toast was cold, and honestly, nothing on the plate was warm. What made the experience even more frustrating was that there wasn't a single opportunity to mention any of this. The bartender never came back. The server never checked on us. Even the person who delivered our food never returned to ask how everything was. We were essentially forgotten after our meals were dropped off. I genuinely hate writing negative reviews because I work in customer service myself and understand firsthand how overwhelming the service industry can be. I completely understand getting busy. What I don't understand is completely ignoring your guests. Even when you're overwhelmed, acknowledging customers and checking in, even briefly, makes a huge difference. Looking back, I probably should have taken the condition of the restaurant as a warning sign. When we walked in, there were numerous tables inside that still had dirty plates, cups, and leftover food from previous guests. The outdoor patio looked the same. What surprised me most was that many of those same tables were still covered in dirty dishes when we left. I wasn't expecting perfection, but I was expecting much more than what we experienced. We spent over $50, received cold food, an incorrect order, waited an unusually long time for drinks, and never had a single opportunity to let anyone know because no one ever checked on us. It was honestly a very disappointing experience, especially after hearing such positive things about this restaurant.
