Their Santa Monica location has been one of my favorites so I was happy to find their new place on this nice corner. However the taste and the quality doesn't meet the expectations. The fruits, especially the strawberries on my bowl were a few days old, soggy and mushy, and the avocado toast was burnt. It's a big disappointment. read more

When you walk into this cute hipster place you're greeted by the friendliest people and the art on the walls is so bright & happy. I started with the SUN GOD smoothie which was so yummy and the perfect wake me up to start our morning. Between the cacao,cold brew,cinnamon, and maple my mouth was one big smile!!! My friend and I both had looked at the menu before coming and as soon as we saw the Daily special, we both changed our order! The LOADED AVOCADO TOAST was the bomb!! There were so many different colors and it just looked beautiful! The avocado was so fresh, and the Sriracha aïoli was such a nice aftertaste on top of the feta!! it came with the side of tzatziki sauce, which was kind of weird and neither of us ate it - it really didn't need that. The portions were huge and neither of us could finish but it was because we were so full! I cannot wait to bring my husband and to try the salmon toast! Every single bite was totally yummy!! So happy to have this in our backyard in Manhattan! Staff is SO friendly. Super healthy and well priced. I built my own warm bowl and my boyfriend got the special beef breakfast burrito. I also got an iced oat matcha, which was perfect and not too sweet. Can't wait to be back! read more

I really like this spot! I happened to come here randomly while waiting for someone at their doctor's appointment. Today, with a bit of help from the very friendly cashier, I chose the avocado toast with a poached egg. Honestly, it was quite good, though I think it could have been just a little better--mainly because the bread was slightly over toasted. But that's just my personal taste; someone else might love it just as it was. Overall, it's a visually appealing place, and I'd say the food is pretty good. If I ever find myself in this area again, I'd definitely return to try something different. read more

The manager there is horrible with his new staff and the customers. Very rude and aggressive and harsh even to a little old lady that was before me. They may produce good healthy food but coming in was a disaster. He ruined the entire experience for me, my friends and the other 5 customers that were in and was yelling at the front register new girl I felt so bad for her. If she sees this I hope she learned she doesn't deserve to be treated like that by anyone. Complete ass. I really enjoy this place! I live super close and it's perfect to grab a bite in the morning or during lunch. The food quality is consistent and the drinks are really good. The staff is also friendly and attentive. I accidentally ordered from the Venice one time and they helped me out. Lovely little spot. Very understated with a quick bite impression, yet anything but! Extensive healthy menu, I opted for the Salmon toast w/ poached egg & Oat Milk Chai Latte. Ordered at the counter and clerk was friendly and helpful. Chose to dine in and grabbed a seat upstairs with a beautiful view. Latte was perfectly prepared. Food took the appropriate time for a properly cooked meal. Presentation was beautiful, taste was excellent in every way: toast nutty soft & crispy, avocado ripe and proportioned properly, added ingredients complimented perfectly, a hint of lemon & egg was poached precisely right. The Hive has become a go-to for me whenever I'm in the area. The breakfast burritos and sandwiches are super tasty, and the salsa they come with is perfect. It's a cute little shop with a great selection of snacks and drinks, plus seating that overlooks part of the ocean. I haven't sat down to eat here but the vibe looks really nice inside. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. There are a few parking spots behind the store which is a nice bonus if you can snag one. Definitely recommend for an easy, satisfying breakfast. read more

Had a weekend stay in Manhattan Beach recently and this was by far my favorite spot in the area. Got the Buddha Bowl and Green Hornet smoothie. The Buddha Bowl came out presented beautifully. Every component in the dish is fresh, well prepared and seasoned properly. Beautiful harmony of flavors and textures. I prefer a kick so I took advantage of the abundance of hot sauce they have. Portion size can be stretched into two, or finished all in one sitting if you're super hungry. For $15, it was 15x more delicious and nutritious than the sad $17 sushi burrito I got at Sloopy's down the street the day before. The smoothies here are fantastic as well. IMO The Hive is better priced and way better tasting than most health food spots in LA. If I lived in Manhattan Beach, I'd be here at least once a week. Bonus points for giving my dog a water bowl. read more

Ate here recently with a friend and really loved their "build a bowl" options: I got the pulled chicken with quinoa, whipped hummus, seasonal greens with a ginger dressing. The whipped hummus was a great complement as it was light and fluffy, favorable. The fermented beets, seemed to be raw and hard to chew. My friend had a similar dish with a matcha which she raved about. We split a chocolate croissant that was also yummy. They have gluten-free desserts that I will have to try next time! Need to find ways to keep flies out and sanitary for customers. Hope management sees this and makes changes before they lose customers due to lack of cleanliness read more

Used to come here all the time for the salmon avocado toast, which was $16. They just took it off the menu so now you have to order the regular avocado toast and add smoked salmon, which takes it $23. Won't be coming back. read more

The food and service were really good, and the servers polite, but the biggest problem is the auditory environment and the loud music. I have autism and sensitive hearing, and the music was very loud. I needed to put in air pods with the noise cancellation setting on, and even then the music was still indeed audible. The environment is definitely not autism-friendly from my experience. read more
